    I really love looking at this vehicle; I find it aesthetically pleasing inside and out, and what makes it even more attractive, is its off road talent.

    The rear bench is rated for 300kg, it would take 2 Nathan's and child and be fine.

    Nathan, how can you not know what the lowering "tailgate" is for? It's a classic disco feature that LR wanted to keep with the new Disco. Also, its rated for 300kg, so yes, you can easily sit on it at 280lbs.

    34 degrees approach with the suspension in offroad mode, 3o degrees departure and 27 degrees break over angles... you have to check Land Rover numbers in normal settings and off road settings , the car itselfs show the numbers in offroad pages in the infotainment system

    The rear drop-down platform-thingy is strong enough to hold 300kg. Land Rover include event seats made out of Leather and aluminium for that drop down part in their accessories lineup. I personally think it is useful as it prevents things from dropping out and also helps to protect the bumper from scratches from some clumsy film crew members who don't give a damn about your car when I am lugging equipment to a shoot. The rear of my former car was all scratched up inside because of IDIOTS who could not understand simple instructions such as 'I will unload/ load the vehicle'.

    I think what it needs as a more subtle paint job, maybe that forest green they offer, some chunkier tires, and a few off-road add ons like a roof cage, maybe some auxiliary lights, and it'll look a whole lot better.

    The looks of the new Disco are polarizing for sure to certain people. I think some of them look awkward while others look amazing. The thing about this vehicle is that its looks vary greatly between packages. So depending on wheel and color choices you'll get a completely different looking Disco. This particular one isn't the best example. However, this thing is targeted toward a broader demographic and its going to be successful within it. LR is looking to grow the brand and bring it to a larger audience.. You can actually get this thing Starting At $49,990. And it'll be well equipped. There's a lot of things in the higher trim packages that are frivolous. But add lots of $$$ really fast.......but That appeals to a lot of folks. And people are quick To bemoan the $80K price tag...these things are largely leased. Not a lot of people will come close to actually spending $80k.
    A lot of us....largely enthusiasts.....need to wait for the new Defender. That Will be a new and Redefining vehicle For Land Rover in the eyes of discerning off road fans.

    0ver 19.5" of suspension travel, more than a Ford Raptor! and 6" higher break over angle than a Jeep Rubicon. 35" water fording is better than both the Raptor and the Rubicon. Just saying...

    • @PatrickRich
      @PatrickRich 7 лет назад +1

      EarthRover not 19.5 inches of travel...movement. meaning topout at off road height to bottomout at cocierge height. The usuable travel will probable be in the 10 inch range....tops, and thats including up and down travel. I would guess at normal height you would get 7 up 3 down, at off road height 6 up 0 down.

    • @pajer10clicks64
      @pajer10clicks64 7 лет назад +1

      you are smoking drugs thinking this will get more articulation than a solid axle car. Breakover and wading depth with mean nothing when the hunk of junk breaks down on the side of the road due to that fancy suspension giving up. landroverhell.com/article/2323/
      fording depth? thats what snorkels are for. Highly suspicious of the 'fording depth' on this thing - one bit of water in all those electrics festooned over the car and the thing will just shut down on you.

    Why are Nathan and Roman always surprised by the tires? Of course it's not going to have off road tires from the factory as the car is intended to be used on the roads for the most part.

  • @onefastcyclist
    @onefastcyclist 7 лет назад

    OFF Road!? you are right about those low profile street tires which would and does get Very expensive on the rocky trails in Death Valley. As hydraulics provide clearance, available articulation goes down and on rough trails riding on the bump stops is both tiring and hard on the $80k investment. It's true most of these will NEVER go off road -- but Rover advertising leads those that do into trouble often enough to make off road toeing very profitable!

    not to be a hater but all these awd and computer tech systems are cool but outrageously expensive to buy, maintain, and repair. "oh it notices traction and locks and unlocks to put the power to different wheels in real time" if you think about all the crap going on and all the expensive parts, you will run from these features. not to mention euro cars and all their cubbies and slidey/touch to open stuff, call me in 6-7 years when they all start breaking, nightmare

    • @timbertram2826
      @timbertram2826 6 лет назад

      Please who generally buy these new aren't thinking 6-7 years down the road man... Get real they know the sweet spot.. Buy new, run till 60K miles (under warranty)... trade it in and get the next latest and greatest... All while enjoying a great clean car... Do they lose quite a bit on depreciation? Yes, but again they don't generally care....Its the people who buy them 2nd or 3rd hand who can't really afford them and then get hit with high potential repair costs... So you better learn how to fix stuff then. I had my full size supercharged RR form 45K to 95K miles.. yeah I put a battery in and fixed one wire to the air suspension... freakin easy.

      Land Rovers never had such a problem. The only reliability problem it had was with the electrics. That was over 20 years ago and only lasted a few years. As of now Land Rover makes some of the most reliable vehicles in the world. Don't believe it, go ahead and look it up. Or, did you really think Land Rover just ignored the problem and is still around just because people buy for the name? Next time, use the frontal lobe of your brain before typing.

    • @slash11lipo
      @slash11lipo 7 лет назад +1

      BewareTheIdes - Oh yes they do/did. I bought a 1999 used (25k miles) Discovery and new 2000 Freelander in 2000. The day I purchased my Freelander, my wife and I were headed home from the dealer and I was showing her how the back window rolled down and when I tried to put it up it wouldn't budge so we headed back to Land Rover and the service guy told us he would have to put us in a loaner. Three days later it was fixed and two weeks later I noticed a dime sized spot of transmission fluid on my garage floor. I took it back to LR and after checking it they told me that LR considers dime sized and smaller fluid leaks acceptable which infuriated me and made me laugh at the same time. I head out and continue to drive it for about a month and the leak got worse so I brought it back and this time they found a crack in the transmission housing. There were no transmissions in the states so they ordered one and 6 weeks later it was fixed. I won't go into a bunch of detail, but the Disco had $9,000+ of warranty work (trans & oil leaks to name a couple of the problems) done to it in the year I had it. I loved their service department & employees and was on a first name basis with most everyone, but those were the 2 worst vehicle experiences I have ever had. Maybe they are better now, but its unlikely I try them again.

    The Discovery Reason is not there any more. The old disco was a rugged safari version of a Range Rover and not a clone of the it. Then you have the price, yes can you get a base one with BLACK INTERIOR, for about 58, and that would be the best way to go, not 80 grand when you can jump into a Range Rover Sport for 70. Plus all that flimsy tech will fall apart in a few years and will not only be outdated, but not work. We need that old Rolex style dash
    with a simple rugged looking nav system and radio and all the 4x4 goodies and done.

    Great vid but for 80k, if I could afford it, I’d by a killer home audio system😂

    Can you even call that trail challenging? Lol. Where we live we call that child's play -- a place Land Cruisers scoff at.

      WxGuy. *sigh** These are mostly leased vehicles. VERY Few people will even remotely sniff at spending $80K. Your suggestion is kind Of a ridiculous alternative. An $80 K Jeep would be real money spent.....overspent and a stupid investment. You should know that.

      G. Hazzi Yeah they ruined the rugged looks of the old Disco and made it look like the Evoque. You won't see these Discos taken through the jungles like the old ones were.

    Expensive but it made stage 3 look easy. Still rather have a Range Rover Sport instead given the price.
