    Best thing to do with the zip wakes is, delete the auto pitch, so you have auto roll only, then use the outboard trim accordingly.
    That way the auto pitch isnt fighting against you all the time.
    I have it set up like that in my 700 Surtees.

    Another detailed and very informative video, excellent work you never fail deliver on the finer details of the video topic and as always your content is direct and easy to understand.
    Now i would love to get your knowledge and honest feedback on the Yammy?
    I understand the Yamaha has an almost flawless history with reliability dating back to the Saltwater series.
    The latest range of Mercs have been around for a few years now and they seem quieter than the Yammy and i haven't heard any common horror stories regarding reliability as yet.
    As a fellow OCD'er whats your your insight when comparing the 2 brands? I personally love the reliability of Yamaha but also love the quieter engine noise from the Merc.
    I have watched some RUclips videoes where people have sais the fuel consumption of the Merc is slightly better than the Yammy, but that could possiblly be biased feedback.
    Looking forward to the next video regarding the general craftsmanship finish of the hull.
    Many thanks again and happy new year!

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  25 дней назад +1

      Hey man, all good. Will also do a detailed review of this engine soonish. It kind of depends on the exact HP range you are comparing. The new V6 and V8 mercs are very nice engines indeed, but I do know sellers of both and the Mercs from what I am told at least have more warranty issues than the Yamaha's, by quite a margin. But don't let this put you off as I know so many people with these new Mercs with zero issues. Both Yammy and Merc are super quiet and smooth, awesome economy etc. I liked the helm master offering about more than the verado equivalent, so went Yamaha. But it was dead set between this and 250 verado. If I was looking for slightly cheaper option, Suzuki df250ap. I know many commercial operators who will flat out only run Yamaha 4 strokes and run their engines for many thousands of hours with minimal issues. The only modern Mercs I don't really like are the last gen supercharged verado inline engines. Crazy bad on fuel and quite problematic.

    hey mate, thanks for the content. how do you find the stability at rest in these vs the bar crushers given they dont have the water ballast system? Cheers!

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  17 дней назад

      Hey man the BC and Surtees are definitely more stable at rest due to ballast. But this boat more stable than both of them at all speeds apart from stopped. Having said that, stability at rest for a non ballast hull is still very good in this boat.

      @tinski88 hey still more stable when both have zipwakes. But yes, in my opinion nobody should be buying a new one of these boats without zipwakes. Previously neither BC or Surtees wanted to fit zipwakes to their boats. Now they do

    Hey mate have you seen Senator boats?? I’ve seen you discuss stabicrafts and senator are another New Zealand produced pontoon boat. I’ve just ordered a 6.5m hard top from them after doing a lot of research and boat tests etc they are amazing to deal with and will work with you for any custom options etc you want. Very competitive pricing and you get a true 6.5m hull.
    Congrats on the new rig looks like it’s running mint. Curious to hear your thoughts on the yammy we’re putting the 225 v6 on ours.

    Looks better than most I've seen. What kind of speed were you travelling at looks around 15-20 knots which is ok. Yellowfin make a nice hull on the outside, however I think what lets them down is their hull structure in my opinion. For your average punter it'll be right, but for the few that travel 150km offshore, it's not going to cut it. They have the ability to design and refine their craft with tech, whereas "custom" boat builders are only able change the inside of their hull to make it look pretty.

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  25 дней назад

      Hey the new under floor construction is much much better than last generation. It's now connected to floor with vertical braces, last generation wasn't and it was shite in my opinion. We're doing between 22-25 knots. Could push it a bit harder obviously and I will in another video when I am driving. It's funny this boat, under the hardtop etc make it look and feel very slow but it's faster than you think. Yes for going way wide, speed does matter for sure. We passed numerous boats to and from the shelf which were sitting on 15-20ish. Only boat better on the day ride was was 6.8 camcraft which are a weapon

    Nice rig, I know your a Caribbean fan, having owned one, why didn't you look at the reef runner or the Caribbean 23? Awesome riding boats, been out on both.
    I owned a 6.4m Spacecraft Alloy boat, built in Toronto NSW, big heavy plate boat, with a volvo penta inboard duo prop, placed in the centre of the boat with a recess in the transom, so you could fish right to the back..I seriously regret selling that boat, it was the only Alloy rig I could ever compare to a nice glassboat ride wise.

      Hey, yeah the reefies are a bit light and small for my needs, But the 2300 is prob my all time favour glass game fishing rig. Just a bit big and heavy for my needs and abilities. Just in terms of always need a perfect deep water ramp etc, with this boat I plan to tow and use everywhere in not ideal conditions to launch and retrieve. But yes love the 2300 and 2400! Never seen a spacecraft Il check them out, sounds interesting

      Yeah I mean compared to a 2300, they do get pushed around more. I have a mate who put about 60-100kg of sand bags in his cabin and he says has totally transformed his boat. I reckon some zipwakes would also suit a reef runner perfectly.

      Keep dreaming.....Had many, good for their time. Don't compete with modern, better boats. Also had the modern versions of that hull as recent as a few years ago. 580 Haines classic. Unstable, wet boats but pretty soft riding yes. I watched a new Haines 675 enclosed the other day closely, riding like absolute shite. Leaning all over the place, banging hard, throwing people around. Captain had no idea how to drive it and it needed zipwakes no doubt, but just because a boat is fibreglass doesn't mean it's automatically superior. Btw I like the 675 Haines and it was on my list when shopping for this boat also.

      A lot of boats between the 6 and 7mtr will take a pounding and smash through the chop and beat another boat in its class to or from a destination if pushed and driven correctly.
      It all comes back to how comfortable you want your passengers to be.
      I could just about smash any boat in its class in my old 243 Whitepointer(except for the odd 233 Formula and big glass cats) . I would drive that thing it to its absolute limit coming back from offshore when it was just myself and a mate, which I knew was capable of holding on tight..
      But if kids are on board or perhaps your partner, then smashing through the chop like there's no tomorrow will definitely make a nice day out hell for your passengers.

      Btw, I asked BC to make me a 6mm boat with a fully welded front cabin area. They said no, and wouldn't customise anything and 6mm is a huge expense increase and it would eat their profit margin. So once that happened they were off my list. I did try to give them another chance.

      In comparison, the 4.2ltr Yammi is a noisy bloody thing compared to say the merc V8 version.. (not sure about the Zuki or Honda)
      In actual fact, one single 300 Yammi is far louder than both of my old verado 200 twins running combined.
      But I'd put up with a little bit more noise for the Yammi reliability and track record.
      There's a newish vid of a guy testing in identical imported plate boats in FNQ doing 300hp Merc V's 300 Yammi.
      Easily shows the difference in noise factor.
