- Design Interoperability with Unreal 5
In this video I will show you how you can efficiently take designs from a large range popular design software bring them into Unreal Engine. This workflow allows rapid design iterations and model updates from external modelling software typically used such as Rhino and Revit.
This is done using an app called speckle, allowing you to avoid the inefficient import and export process through its online data store. This is an alternative workflow in contrast to direct file imports using plugins such datasmith and works very well if you are in a live project with many changes and working with various software.

Amazing tutorial, 🙌
Thank you!
What data could you pull with the geometry. I was looking at the idea of mapping point data or BIM objects to assets ... Or maybe materials in unreal. Haven't tested the idea out yet but I'm intrigued what data it's bringing with it that's recognised by unreal.
The unreal speckle connector has just a basic interface of updating geometry and materials from the branches. If you want to go deeper into extracting other BIM data it is possible using blueprints and the speckle nodes. Recently on the speckle forum I have seen some great examples of community members experimenting with bringing in meta data, locations and much more into Unreal. Worth checking it out!
