Thank you. This was very helpful. I even want to thank you for making a mistake. Yes! It was helpful to see how you handled it and by the end, you could not tell it was ever made. That is very encouraging to the rest of us. I love your style and your gentle commentary. Well done!
I loved this video Emma!!. Though the realistic painting is indeed beautiful, I really love the loose painting more. I think it is because it has that fluffy full look that makes it more substantial. I did learn from this video because it was easy to see the difference you were trying to accomplish for our sake. Thank you Emma ❤
Freesia we used to call those the fruit loop flower when I worked at a floral shop. They smell so sweet and one color I can't remember which actually had a pepper scent. They're one of my favorites for so many reasons.
Emma, I love watching you. I am 60 something and I am returning to my love with art. You have encouraged me to try some new things. I understand wanting to make your son your priority. My two children are adults now and I am so thankful that I had time with them when they were little. I also have had mental challenges . Returning to watercolor has helped so much. You are keeping me company right now. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for showing both! As a very type B person, I really enjoy fast, loose florals. But the occasions I tried detailed, I realised I actually enjoyed it too! And because it took more care and time (something that dont come naturally to me), I felt like I accomplished something special.
Thanks so much for your great video !!! Love the way you explain every thing. I paint bookmarks for the library and they love them all. I find your flowers very soft and expressive. They make many people happy.
I love Emma tutorial videos so much and yes i love the way she mixed styles also look forward to see more videos with roses and spring wild flowers. Maybe daisy... love and blessings to you all
Don’t know how i missed this a year ago, but it is really fascinating to watch as well as beautiful!! Tomorrow I get to try painting it with you 😊 . Thank you.
This is an exceptional tutorial! I love to do watercolor but it doesn't come naturally. You tell me what I'm seeing and guide how to capture it. I gravitate to the detailed work but am trying to loosen up. This is exactly what I needed.
Emma, You and your wonderful way of explaining how to use this medium are getting me through a very hard year. I so appreciate your upbeat attitude and lovely disposition. All the best to you in 2022!
Loose or stylized, Emma, you're the queen of florals, hands down. I have loved freesia forever, but have NEVER seen it that thick or large before! So gorgeous it looks fake. Your florist is the best of the best. Thanks for your thrice-weekly gifts. Much obliged. Frances Turano Denver, CO
Just re-watched this one and am so glad I did. Two years ago was just at the beginning of my watercolor journey and now I learned so much more. Thanks Emma!
This is so helpful! I really enjoy your teaching. I do find it it hard to see because the angle of the light shines in the wet paint and blows it out from time to time.
I honestly liked the loose flowers... and then I saw the tighter, more realistic ones! I’m stuck in the middle... I like them both!! I think there’s a time and place for each one! Wonderful job Emma!! Thank you for sharing!
Lovely as always Emma! You make it seem so easy, I ‘ve been following you since already a year and learned so much, you’re such a great teacher, always explaining every detail. Thanks a lot! 😊
Thank you for your tutorials. They are concise, sound/camera angle is great, and very helpful. Its surprising how difficult it is to find watercolor tutorials on youtube! You've saved me thanks!!
Gosh the two are beautiful 😻!! The loose one is almost impressionistic using the white of the paper, but it's good to know the details so you can work more freely I think. Love ❤️ your colours too!! Thank you so much
I really like both, but the second one is my favorite. Thanks for another great tutorial! Your sweet and cheerful personality always shines through, and I hope you are having a lot of success with your channel. I have more difficulty with loose florals because I am more detail oriented, but these are really helping me LOOOOOSEN up 😁 and show that lovely quality of watercolors.
I love both techniques but the one on the right really stands out. I’m a beginner so I still need to learn how to paint like these. Thanks for such a wonderful tutorial. You make things look easy and attainable for a beginner.
I really love the loose, it's more what makes watercolor so distinctive and beautiful. The detailed, I feel like you could do that by just using coloring pencils. You do beautiful work, I love watching your videos.
Both are just beautiful. I think I like the loose floral best as it really looks like watercolor. The detailed one is just gorgeous tho. I will try both and then decide which is best for me. You are such a great teacher. I learn so much from you. Thank you.
Thank you for showing the two together - it has confirmed my love of the loose style because the flowers look so much more organic and alive. Regarding bouquets, the loose one you showed us is beautiful and shows the delicate fragility of the blooms - an opportunity to combine the two styles with more detail here and there to provide focal point with harder edges. Great work!
This was my best results so far after painting several of your tutorials theses past few weeks. So of course it’s my favorite to date. I never would have thought I could paint detailed flowers . Thank you so much I really enjoy your channel
Both paintings were stunning! Your work never ceases to amaze. I am learning so much from you. Thank you so much for taking your time to provide your awesome lessons for us 😊
I particularly enjoyed this as seeing the contrast of the styles helped me see what I prefer. I wonder if a combination of the 2 would be totally off. I’m trying to imagine a loose bouquet with more detailed florals interspersed to give definition. Would you begin with the loose style and create a composition leaving space for the detailed flowers? I’m trying to picture it with the detailed bits as ‘closer’ and the loose more as bokeh.
Love them both, but it's nice to see the detailed since you usually do loose! I'd love to see some more detailed florals like this.Maybe even do a stemmed bouquet with detailed florals too! :) Beautiful work Emma!!! Thanks!
Hi Emma, I really really LOVE your detailed work, it’s so pretty and I love to learn more! Hopefully in the future I can see more of your detailed botanical paintings!
i like both.. depends on my mood. I have been working lately on being looser ( more loose?) because if i try to detail, i tend to over think it.. so i have been trying to lighten up on it being perfect, and just enjoying the process.. .. beautiful artwork either way x
Wow this is so helpful… i wish I watched this earlier…. Just a request, can you do a similar comparison video for rose and peony in loose and detailed style ?😅 always stuck with these 2😢
Can you wait a long time between layers for the detailed paintings? I’m thinking I’d do some one day then go back to it the next day, if that’s not too long in between?
Thank you. This was very helpful. I even want to thank you for making a mistake. Yes! It was helpful to see how you handled it and by the end, you could not tell it was ever made. That is very encouraging to the rest of us. I love your style and your gentle commentary. Well done!

I like both but I love love love the loosen one. Its so fascinating to watch paint moves on the wet surface.
Loose painting allows the watercolors to mingle and merge. That way the watercolor magic can happen. I do love both of these though! Thanks Emma!
I loved seeing the 2 styles together. Please do a couple more of these with different flowers.
A COUPLE, you mean a lot!
I love Emma tutorial videos so much and yes i love the way she mixed styles also look forward to see more videos with roses and spring wild flowers. Maybe daisy... love and blessings to you all
Had to watch this again. Just love both ways so much. I’ll give it a try!!! 💐
I feel like the loose watercolor flower captures more of why I love watercolor, the way it fades into the paper.
Lovely!
Don’t know how i missed this a year ago, but it is really fascinating to watch as well as beautiful!! Tomorrow I get to try painting it with you 😊 . Thank you.
This is my favorite of your videos so far. I loved how you painted both types, clearly explained the differences and showed a real reference flower.
This is an exceptional tutorial! I love to do watercolor but it doesn't come naturally. You tell me what I'm seeing and guide how to capture it. I gravitate to the detailed work but am trying to loosen up. This is exactly what I needed.

So beautiful, Emma. I really love the more realistic ones.
Emma! You are an inspiration. Thank you for your detailed work. Lovely work 🍁🍂
Thes are beautiful. You make it look so easy. Then I try and I could just cry! I’ll keep watching and practicing. Maybe some day!!!! 🥰💐
I know how you feel. I am trying very hard to enjoy the process not the out come. It's not easy! Good luck to you!
Thank you so much for your clear explanations and your tricks for the loose flowers!

Interesting to see the comparison. I enjoyed doing the first one - quite a challenge for me as I'm used to doing the second style. Fun! TY x
This was a really fun video. I thought I was only capable of loose florals but after this I think I could try more detailed ones!
I love your work. You are so talented and inspiring. Thank you for bring joy into this world :)
So interesting and instructive - I love the contrast between the two techniques. The color blends on the loose freesias are stunningly gorgeous
Just re-watched this one and am so glad I did. Two years ago was just at the beginning of my watercolor journey and now I learned so much more. Thanks Emma!

I’d love to see a series on painting detailed flowers! This would be soo amazing and helpful 🌸💕
I honestly liked the loose flowers... and then I saw the tighter, more realistic ones! I’m stuck in the middle... I like them both!! I think there’s a time and place for each one! Wonderful job Emma!! Thank you for sharing!

Another beautiful flower I love to watch you paint. You have such confidence in your work. One day I hope to be that way!
Beautiful! I picked up a bunch of Freesia from my grocery store and this is exactly to tutorial I was looking for. Thank you!
Both are beautiful to me for different reasons. Great demonstration, and helpful.
Thank you for this. I just started and have been struggling with loose flowers, but I think the detailed is more my style.
Both are just beautiful. I think I like the loose floral best as it really looks like watercolor. The detailed one is just gorgeous tho. I will try both and then decide which is best for me. You are such a great teacher. I learn so much from you. Thank you.

I love the detailed florals as much as the loose flowers ! Hope you'll do more of the detailed flowers ! Thanks for the great videos !

Really loved this lesson, I’m sure we would all love more like this compare and contrasting the methods with different flowers. 💐🌹🌻
I really enjoyed this demo! Been watching you for a while now and I think you’ve really got this! Thank you💕

Beautiful 😊💕
These are beautiful
You are very good and creative. Would love to be able to do this.
I can't choose ... I love both for different reasons. Don't know why, but detailed is easier for me to do.
Beautiful, I am not comfortable with Watercolour. The nearest it get to it is acrylic inks that I love.. 😀
Can you wait a long time between layers for the detailed paintings? I’m thinking I’d do some one day then go back to it the next day, if that’s not too long in between?
Excelente video 🤗👌🏻
