      The demons changed because they got more corrupted. You are comparing the games to each other and that's where you are wrong. The games go off of the books!! If you knew the lore, you would know this. We have 3 abilities because it will encourage you to get better weapons and to craft more. You're complaining about stuff they took criticism about and fixed. People complained the fighting was too clunky and slow. Now you're complaining it's not enough. You're complaining about shit that needed to be fixed to fit TODAY'S standard for gaming. Dragon age isn't about the fighting style. It's the fucking story

    Thats the problem when studios change staff. New people come in and they instantly want to change stuff to leave their own mark on it. The designs of characters and demons have been pretty consistent through all 3 games. Now, that all the old staff is gone, suddenly we get design changes. The elves and demons are for me the worst of all changes. Elves look like regular humans with pointy ears now. Demons look like frickin floaty neon plastic toys. The pride demon looked so awesome before. Now its multiple eyes are gone and it doesn't even have legs anymore. Why? Why do they change the identity of the previous games? I hate it so much...

    • @nuhre
      @nuhre  3 месяца назад +2

      The previous games might not have been masterpieces, but they all had an underlining charm and consistency that this one lacks.
      I hate when games take out perfectly good assets or mechanics in favor for shit no one asked for. So yes, I feel you, this is just a terrible take on an otherwise amazing franchise 😢

    I “want” to be excited for this installment of Dragon Age, we’ve waited 10 years for it after all. But I don’t know. The characters look like they were pulled straight from OverWatch or Leaugue of Legends. The demons, that I’ve seen so far, look too generic, and very different from what’s already been established. The combat still needs some tweaking. I think they got a little carried away with character creation. It’s great that there are so many options, but I could care less about “bulge” size or “glute” size, and I definitely could do without the pronouns and all the other DEI crap. It’s too bad that developers are more concerned about pandering than they are about creating a game, for the fans of the series, and working to further the story that is already established. I still want to see and hear more before I make my final decision, but I’m very disappointed and disheartened currently. I can’t say I’m “surprised” however. Because of companies like SBI and their ilk they’ve already destroyed my Assassins Creed, again in a setting that fans have waited YEARS for, the remake of Silent Hill 2, with the new “no attractive women allowed” thing that developers are doing as of late. The state of “new” games is sad indeed.

    That thing in the sky is the Circle/Magisterium. Dorian described it in DA:I. It's very science-fantasy though. Canonically it makes sense that Solas would be in Minrathous, because that's where the lore around the Elves and Veil started.
    Not to say I think it's all brilliant, I'm deeply worried about how the game is going to be, but those points at least meet canon.
    I'm PISSED about the limited combat options and the demons. I know the devs have waffled on about "deep lore" and "tactical combat" but come on, you can see how full of crap that is just by looking at the gameplay reveal. I'm not swallowing their spin on those things. Re the combat markers though, you can toggle them off.
    Also, yes! I'm glad someone has finally mentioned the fact that the NPC's look GREAT, but the companions and PC looks cartoony! I'm so annoyed!
    Re: Neve, if we're going by earth names, it's either "neveh" or "Neev" depending on where the character came from. I agree that "Nev" sounds weird.
    I dunno, I'm kinda hopeful about the story but this will probably be my last DA game I buy. It's not even pretending to be Dragon Age anymore. It's just a fantasy action game. If I wanted a game this dumbed down and simplified, and the story TOLD to me rather than shown to and experience BY ME, I'd watch a damn movie. I'm SO disappointed.
    And HOLY SHIT you're right about Varrick! He was SO judgy about Anders destroying a literal mage concentration camp after more than 5 YEARS of friendship and fighting side by side... but for Solas he's willing to overlook everything because he was his friend for A YEAR?!?! And Solas LITERALLY CAUSED all this trouble... the veil, the blights... EVERYTHING. Damn it. I'm even more annoyed now lol.

      I know Circles are prestigious academies back in Tevinter, but I don't know if Dorian ever mentioned they float? My knowledge is limited because it's been a while since I last played DAI. And to be honest, it flying it's not the problem. It's the spotlights. The technology that shouldn't exist.
      The combat is atrocious and I don't understand what they were thinking. And the thing with Neve is just lazy. I said it in my stream, but she's an ice mage, and her name literally means "snow" in many latin based languages. Tevinter is based on the Roman Empire, so it should be Ne-veh. But that's the least of our problems, to be honest.

    15:00 Minrathous has a huge Dwarven population, and three giant robots defending it. The fact they did not add an Ambassadoria faction shows the incompetence of the devs on the lore. The demons and darkspawn look like generic mobile game fantasy monsters now.

  • @Shadowhunterbg

    To summ it up they nutered the game completely and it absolutely reeks of this just being a corpo product that just came out from the assembly line.
    Firstly look at the icons of your skills. In Origins we had icons of weapons stabbing people, skulls, blood, fangs etc. now? "Look how shiny and clear it is!"
    They ruined the Fade demons as well because why not. Implemented DEI elves which makes zero sense but they gotta check out those Blackrock boxes right? After all, satisfying the wants of Blackrock is more important than making a grimdark and believable world.

      IT'S SO PG13. I was just complaining about Minrathous and the lack of slaves. Yes, I want to see slavery in a country whose entire economy and culture is based on blood magic and SLAVERY. Call me whatever you want, but Dragon Age use to hit you with the dark and often very uncomfortable reality of living in Thedas. Now it's just making everything palatable for new players.

    • @Shadowhunterbg

      @@nuhre Oh i don't call people anything based on their beliefs as long as they don't go out hurting others for no reason, lie or hurt a whole culture/country like Woke people do.
      Yeah slavery would have been great, brood mothers, desire demons, sacrifices, violence, gore but they will never do that because the game is made by children for children. I am absolutely sure that if you ask those current activists oops i mean "devs" from where darkspawn come they will not answer at all and they will never, ever touch that subject again.
      The whole game got censored and became a vessel for political correctness. If i ever play it it woud be a pirated version but it is a big "IF".
      I am a big fan of elves since Origins and to see now how they DEI them with now being asian and black elves, yeah, no. They didn't exist in Origins, DA2 and Inquisition and so they don't exist in Fail Guard as well. FFS they live in ghettos how the hell are there minorities in minorities in heavily secluded communities? It is like if you went into a secluded village in the mountains with a population of 300 people and there are whites, asians and blacks who claim that they live here for centuries. Yeah, no. They would have been assimilated a long time ago by the majority. That is how biology works. The elves now are just humans but with pointy ears.
      Vivienne is a character i liked and kinda made sense since she was in Orlais, an Empire that got many people in it with different backgrounds but this? Nah. I will literally spam "skip dialogue", will avoid conversation as much as possible and won't take the DEI elf companions ever in my missions because in previous lore they didn't exist. I won't even recruit them if im lucky. I will simply ignore them. Touching the elves and Fade Demons is something i won't forget.

  • @EcardEcardian
    @EcardEcardian 3 месяца назад +5

    How the ip has gone from Dragon Age Origins, a dark epic fantasy game, that had deep lore, well writen dialog, characters, ton of abilities and skills. Tactical gameplay, you had lists, dialog lists, skill/abliities lists, on pc you can drag out the list to cover the whole bottom of the screen, the first thing I do when playing that game. It felt satisfying taking down the big bad corrupted deamon at the end of the game, but you did also know that you made the world a beter place, not saved it, just less bleak than it was before.
    DA2 was button mashing the game, forget about tactics, tactics means people have more than 2 braincells. Everything is dumbed down, fewer skills and abilities, can only have fewer skills on the hud, because a list is too complex, characters are shallow, red lyrium that made people nuts for some reason.
    DAI didn't help at all. Kept the limited gameplay from DA2, but it was so empty, most of the time you walked somewhere. a check list in each map, felt like that game whated to be a mmo. Characters where shallow as well in that game, most of the characters where dumb. The main villan was a comic book villan. Build up, build up that lead to a anticlimactic ending. Get a DLC to get a cliffhanger. So the game they added in lgtv characters for no reason.
    DAV looks like a marv comedy mixed with borderland introductions just by looking at the trailer alone, they also cramed in neonlight, is this a cyberpunk game? What I heard was the tactical gameplay was going to be yeeted. Skill slots, you get 3 of them. No controling companions at all. Thinking about it, DAV is DAI 2.0.
    I do not think that Bioware in name only is doing that good job at all. They have failed to get Dragon Age sense Dragon Age 2. So far im wating for Bioware to get axed by EA. Their only saving thing is Mass Effect. But looking at the quality of Andromida. I do not have high hopes at all. They did the same thing, dumbed it all down in the second game and have kept at it.

    Damn, been seeing hella bright neon-colored enemies in games lately… They went from badass Pride Demon to this glow stick version. We went from Lord of the Rings Uruk Hai looking Darkspawn to this new derpy faced Darkspawn. What I liked about DA:O, was that it an emphasis on steel slashing flesh - making your character bloodied as a result. Felt like you were killing things that were organic. Here it feels like you’re fighting plastic toys. I don’t know. Not only are the vibes off, but Tevinter is also too modern. I understand it’s supposed to be an advanced civilization, but this is overdoing it. It should be “advanced” within the rules of Medieval Dark fantasy. I literally just saw a Neon Sign straight out of Cyberpunk at the very beginning of the video. Again, the design is all off. Hair looks good tho.

    I am trying to be hopeful and think some of the issues with gameplay is the player doing the demonstration... like the fact the camera is always in such a bad position in that pride demon fight is just because the player is trying to get a good shot of the pride demon (not sure why you'd want to do that when you've turned the pride demons into generic glowing things). I assume the random character intro cuts where they show the name and role of the characters are just there in the edit for the viewer and not actually in the game...

    My problem with Minrathous is that it's not advanced enough. Why are magisters personally on an intercom, dealing with petty criminals, etc? There should be golems and automotons fighting the demons, patrolling the streets, delivering official broadcasts, etc. The architecture itself looks Tevinter, but the building, signs, the way people gather up just looks like a "modern" tm city with a fresh coat of fantasy paint.
    And, yeah, "Neve" is pronounced wrong. The silent "e" is French; Orlais has the French lexicology. Tevinter is supposed to be more Roman Catholic Latin. Unless Neve is Orlesian (and she doesn't have any amount of any Orlesian accent), Neve should be pronounced "neve", "néhvi", or "neh' va".
    These demon designs are dumb. Demons holding weapons has been seen before... but only in the hands of Valor and Vengeance. "Spirit weapons" are ideas of combat and war as explained in the mage origin by Valor. Even though other demons could make/use them, these kinds of tools are less effective in the hands of dissimilar spirits. Because what use does Desire have for "a perfect cut" when I could wield affection or trust to get what you want, or why would Pride stoop to using "a punch to the face" when the power we hold and the secrets we wield could change the fabric of the world? They wouldn't as established from the beginning of the first game.
    I could get used to the combat UI, but you're right that it's not the right kind of UI for an RPG. If I'm not directly controlling a character, I shouldn't be directly controlling their actions. Character aiming and dodging are clunky and break immersion.
    I think the plot with the statues isn't that the statues were necessary for the ritual, but that he had to stop casting the ritual spell to keep from being squished by the falling statues. And then the ritual went haywire and everything else you said. But even with all their yapping, I don't think they get across what's happening very clearly.

    • @nuhre
      @nuhre  3 месяца назад +3

      I agree with Minrathous. Also you can make a city look advanced without pulling the steampunk aesthetic. Also, let me be the one to say it, WHERE ARE THE SLAVES? Like... that's the whole point of Tevinter. And the main reason (aside from blood magic) that people fucking hate them. So... they are going to a hundred percent downplay it because sensitivities need to be spared.
      I disagree with the statues, though. If you go back and look at the video, you can see the statues are an active part of the ritual. They shoot "magicky beams" into the sky. So breaking the statues messes with the ritual... which yeah, makes no fucking sense.

    I think Minrathos looks cool. Very interesting and dystopianish. BUT, it is NOT Dragon Age. It is the styling of another game. So basically, you know have a location that takes it's style from other games and you have visuals that is a massive downgrades from older games, and all your already cool, already established design of characters and monsters are all gone and replaced with worse and the combat is now completely not generic and worse, NOT Dragon Age.. If there is a way to hate Bioware more, sign me up for it.

    It's garbage. Likely RPG has never been bigger as a genre and yet they dump all that and go for this Arkham Asylum style (though even that maintains more menace than this rubbish). Who on earth plays an RPG for frantic gameplay? Mind, if this were slow or turn-based how pathetic would it be (three 'skills' or spells whatever)?
    They have no idea what they are doing nor who their audience is. This is 21st century Gauntlet, not a proper update of DragonAge. It's Chaos Engine without the great design. It's shite.
    And where is the world? Does it feel like a real place or a series of virtual filmsets for generic fantasy game, set in no particular time, with incoherent elements and lacking any charm? It's soul-less. It's vacuous. It's NOTHING. I agree.
    It's going to be button mashing against AI that show no character, no cleverness, no quirkiness, NOTHING.
    Another AAA title washes $100m down the drain. Would you hand BioWare another big project? Tough to imagine they get another chance.

    Why is Solas on his own? At the end of Trespasser he had a huge network of elves? Did they all die? If so who killed them? Or did they abandon him without helping to stop him? Hopefully, it's something the game will explain.
    The way rook joins Varic and Harding as some pointless random who was good in a bar fight is suspicious. I'm hoping there is in-game back story on how some nobody magically happens to find the only two people in the world other than Neve that know how to find the god that at the very moment appears to be conducting a ritual that will destroy the world. The limited info so far makes rook's part in this seem suspicious or just dumb. I'm pretty sure the game will hopefully make more sense.
    Why are Varic and Harding the only 2 people in a world trying to stop the worlds destruction? Did Varic and Harding hide that they had located Solas finally at the last minute after 10 years since Trespasser?
    It's nice we have companions as that is one of the things that make Bioware games great. However, why weren't these groups helping Varic and Harding when a god appeared to be actively destroying the world?
    I don't think rook can really trust any group other than their origin group and maybe Neve's group. You can't even trust the inquisition (or former inquisition) as they appear criminally absent when the world was about to be destroyed. So far the heroes of the last game appear as big of losers as the demon cult loving absent greyspawn were in the last game.
    I'm not really feeling the connection between the ending of Trespasser and how this game starts.
    Hopefully, there will be a mod to give us real Dragon Age demons. Changing demons into collected trash spirits in the fourth game seems off.
    Still looking forward to this game if the reviews are good.

    Dragon Age Origins was a disappointment for Bioware. It only sold 3.2 million copies. DA2 was a bigger disaster with only 2 million copies. They went back to drawing board and changed up the formula for Dragon Age Inquisition and that worked in attracting casual audience and sold healthy 6 million copies (second behind only Mass Effect 3). They feel changing it up further to attract more casual fans and will also offset the loss of sales by old school Dragon Age fans not buying the game. They are probably targeting 10 million sales with this modern gameplay. And it is working, many casual gamers who usually just play COD (eg Griffing Gaming) like it and want to give it a go.

    Says earlier in the video oh people dont talk enough, then starts screaming "stop yapping"" when they actually do talk.
    Also in regards to Varric changing opinions from DA:2 to now, there are a few reasons. Kirkwall is his home, he was also 33 in the events of DA:2 and is now 51 IDK people tend to change as they age.
    about minrathous being technological they have had a very good relationship with the dwarfs over the years that combined with their magic superiority makes alot of sense, also as Rook says Tevinter is MASSIVE so yes there are alot of ancient parts, the flying building is the tevinter circle of magi.
    the pride demon design really isnt that different it still has the iconic head and arms
    also no they didnt defeat solus here the planned to drop the status on the ritual site, which didnt happen cause solus broke them, maybe if you had listened to them when they were speaking instead of shouting "stop yapping" you would have gleaned that.
    idk just all around pretty bad reaction

    • @nuhre
      @nuhre  3 месяца назад

      I like it when characters have actually meaningful dialogue, call me crazy. Instead of whispering to each other in a moment of urgency, where the game is telling me I need to hurry or the world ends.
      So you are saying, Varric only cares about the world ending when Kirkwall is threathened? Well, I have news for you, buddy. Kirwall is in Thedas, so if Solas succeeded, Kirwall would be gone too. So having Varric give Solas the benefit of the doubt when he couldn't stand Anders after what he did is bad writing.
      Since when are the dwarfs technologically advanced? They've had to advance in other ways due to their lack of magic, and it shows in their architecture, which is the most easily defended out of all cultures in Thedas. And they are great weapon and armour smiths, and also at using lyrium in ways other races can't because they are not affected by it. Not at any point I've been to Orzammar and seen a LEDs and street lamps.
      About the pride demon... I mean, you said it yourself. If the design only retains two things from the original, what's the fucking point. Also there is no reason for demons to look different when it's been established throughout 3 DIFFERENT games that demons look the same both in and out of the Fade.
      The plan was to destroy the statues to disrupt the ritual. I thought that was pretty obvious here. The statues were PART of the ritual. I listened to them, as painful as it was, discuss their stupid plan for 5 minutes before they actually did anything.
      And if you think this take is bad, just wait until the game comes out. I plan on having worse ones.

    • @kezanub
      @kezanub 3 месяца назад +1

      @@nuhre On your first point I agree with you here, I am hoping for more dialogue from Rook that we can control. My assumption is alot of it is due to "It has been edited for brevity and to avoid any major spoilers" thing at the start of the gameplay.
      On the note of Varric this wasnt what I was trying to explain he was striving for a peaceful solution that he thought anders was also working towards and then he turned around and turned his home into a warzone, thats bond to enrage anyone. I am assuming he is sympathetic to the why of what solus is doing but wants to stop him before he is an idiot about his way to reach those goals.
      On the note of the Dwarfs being technologically advanced we have alot of things. Golems in general, this goes as far as things like the runic golem who has a mastery over magic and the giant colossal golems they built Tevinter to protect Minrathous, The stuff going on in Amgarrak, The gates of Segrummer, the prototypes that led to and the creation of bianca, and just general crafts involving lyrium. I think in the case of orzammar its worth remembering it was a mining thaig, the seat of power was just moved there for convenience. But on that note orzammer and other dwarven places do have Lamps and lights that use crystals as a light source...
      With regards to the pride demon ive always thought the head and arms where its most iconic pieces and if you showed me the head of both of them I could say yep thats a pride demon. On the note of the other demons in the gameplay we dont get a name for any of them so they could be different types of demons we have never saw before, but even if they arent im ok for some change tbh its been 10 years since the last game and things like rage demons where just shades but on fire. Also not sure if im just crazy but wasnt it established demons dont need to have a set form its just their nature thats set in stone.
      I dont think the statues had anything to do with the ritual due to them talking about dropping them on the ritual site, but only bioware really knows the answer to this one.
      I think going into the game with negaitve mind set isnt wise tbh. Personally im just happy for more story. I know alot of people are mad because it seems to be copying mass effect but like in my honest opinion the open world really didnt work in inquisiton and on the note of combat although id like more than 3 skills (if 3 is all we are getting) I never really played dragon age for its thrilling combat I more played it cause I enjoyed its story.

    I also agree about them trying to redeem Solas, most likely, though idk I'm not a fan of this.
    And as to why Varric was the one trying to talk Solas down, I think he felt responsible, his friend was about to do shit again, so he was ready to go out of his way to change Solas' mind. He couldn't do anything when Anders boomed the church, it was too late already, but here, there's still a chance.

Demons are so basic it's true, my first thought was that they looked "modern", so I kinda squeaked when you said the same thing haha.
    The only thing that truly bothers me is lack of both proper role-playing element (or at least not shown) and combat variety, including unplayable companions, like what is there to this game then? What's the focus?
    Sorry for lengthy comment, based reaction, really, I enjoyed hearing your opinion on this!

      The millennial writing is strong with this one. The whole "Erm... I wonder where we'll find a new hero, Hard-- Oh, would you look at that?" it's painful to say the least. But again, characters can only be as smart as the people writing them, and judging how many of the original writers (if not all of them) left the company, I can't say I'm surprised.
      I want to think that about Varric too... but honestly? I think it fell on him because he's literally the only recurring main character for this one (if you don't count Solas, and I definitely don't count Harding). I don't mind the stylistic choices either, IF the rest of the game made it up for it... which it does not. It is too modern. It is design to cater to younger audiences, which doesn't mean sense to me because it is us adults who love the franchise and have the money to pay for the game itself. So trying to be "one of the youths" is just like shooting themselves on the foot. Again and Again.
      The lack of role-playing element stems from the fact that this is not a RPG anymore. Hope that helps. No, in all honestly, is atrocious. They tried to please everyone and ended up outraging all their core fanbase, which is a feat in and out of itself.
      Loved your lengthy comment, by the way! Love to hear about people that are as passionate about this as I am. Makes me feel less crazy.

      usually when i hear 'modern' as an insult or prejorative it is coming from a...very bad place lets say, a place not actually concerned with critiquing a piece of art, but it really did feel accurate here.

    Can i just say this? You cannot compare each game to one another because they're all different looking. Its been 10 years since trespasser of which the books touch on what happened in between. The demons changed throughout all the games because the lore says the more corrupted the spirit becomes, the more they change. Dragon age isnt just a game series. Theres books and a TV show. Just look at what the story really says and take that into consideration on why they change. Varric is older. 20 years have passed since DA2 and 30 since origins. They used frostbite engine to render the game just the same as inquisition. The difference is, they listened to their fans this time around and took the good aspects of all the games and used them to create this game. Everything from movement to storyline comes from fans and the books. If you want to understand it, i highly suggest reading the books and dont judge game by game

      I have. Minrathous is "advanced" in the use of magic. Having golems patrol the city instead of guards and the like. But it's also the most ancient city of Thedas. I have never heard of them having spotlights or anything like that, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

      @@stitchedfreedom By that logic, nothing should resemble what we've learned in the lore all these prior years. Minrathous is not a mystery city. We know enough about it to have an idea of how it operates. And I'm not upset about the look of it, but you have to make it make sense. Even in a fantasy world, there has to be rules the characters and the world follows. You can't just "magic" things into existence because Minrathous powerful and ancient and cool. It has to makes sense within the canon and the lore already established. Otherwise, what's the point of it? That's one of my main issues here. Why bother making something canon or coming up with lore if you are gonna flush it down the toilet next opportunity you get? But hey, that's my opinion and everyone has one.
