Have you played Dragon Age Origins ?. There is a Qunari in there.. His name is Sten, and he has no horns at all.. Strange that nobody mentioned him. Doesn't fit their 'negative' bill i guess...
@RFA_The-DuDe Honey. Origins came out 15 years ago. And there is CANON lore about how hornless Qunari are thought to be stronger that horned ones. Which makes sense because canonically Sten becomes the Arishok after DA2.

My god finally someone sane, its like the dragon age fans were suffering from withdrawal and will take any hit of copium they can get. I saw people praising the game for "hair" wtf is wrong with these people. This toxic positivity is exactly why both movie and gaming frachises die, you need to put your foot down at the first sign of brain rot or your game will be converted to something you cant even recognize. And no one can seriously tell me that they like the new Qunari design, they look dumb as hell with thise big foreheads sticking out. The gameplay looks like its ported from a mobile game and i can guarantee you at some point this was going to be a mobile game but they changed their mind after diablo immortal.
It's basic. Generic. Just like any other videogame that came out in the past 2 or 3 years. Forgettable. Boring. They stripped it from any charm and uniqueness it might have and it's just... nothing.
I do hate that they detached the game from a low fantasy setting. Instead of city streets with buildings, markets and people, the city is a sunken pit with fog blocking the bottom and just endless waves of enemies. Are there towns anymore? do people farm or have normal jobs? is there an economy, mines, a bank, a church? this looks like god of war, were is the world or ground for that matter. I keep seeing floating buildings and mountains. I'm just confused. In origin the enemies were bandits the darkspawn, traitors, and maybe 8 demons, a few others but what they did was have it so the enemies while dangerous could and were being defeated by other groups. men and women were fighting losing AND winning everywhere. Your role was crucial to ultimate victory but it never felt like the rest were just rolling over and dyeing they were putting up a fight. This feels like everyone but the main character and co are just non-existent.
This game has everything i could ever ask for in a game; Smooth faces Floaty boats Petting cats and dogs Playing rock paper scissors with a skeleton Lots of purple This is GOTY for certain.
I love how they decided that elves now need to look like dwarves with pointed ears... Elves are supposed to be slender and petite. Sera in Inquisition was actually using a human body model but was STILL not a stocky lump like every elf I've seen in footage from this game.
Bland, featureless, safe edgy, marvel writing, souless product that caters to same audience as concord. Competent people left bioware a LONG time ago, both in writing or technical coding skills. Veilguard is DEI at its finest and every single shot of the game confirms this. And the dialogue will be even cringier than that
It's so obvious, that the development was pure hell, they didn't even have time to change the style from cheap MMO to actual AAA rpg game. Now, they have no other choice than pretend and gaslight. It's really hard to believe that this frankstein of a game gonna have any success.
Ironically, Larian show more respect to Bioware's franchises than Bioware themselves do. Bioware should have stopped releasing Dragon Age games after the Awakenings expansion IMO, they started going wrong with DA2 - the only reason people are looking back on it with rose-coloured glasses is because of just how BAD DA:V looks. Max party size of 3 including MC, and youu can only play as the MC? That's a joke.
Agreed. The only game truly faithful to the lore and worldbuilding was DAO, but the other two were still charming enough in some areas to make up for the lack of story in some ways. This? This is just unredeemable in every single fucking way.
Agree on the take o DAII and onward, they pigeonhole the series in current Thedas, completely squandering the insane amount lore they wrote for Origins. Being 100% real, the entire continuity thing in Dragon Age is for rememberberies.
I haven't played Dragon Age since Origins but I really don't like how they cut the armor pieces to just a helmet and the lower body. I hate it when games cut down content with the excuse of streamlining the game but it just makes the game feel shallow and lazy compared to previous iterations.
They are trying to pass this game as an RPG but it barely is a game, least of all an RPG. Stick to Origins. It's the only one faithful to its core essence.
I realized that Veilguard shares a lot of similarities with D&D Dark Alliance and that's not a good thing. Similar UI, similar combat, and similar loot system. 10+ years later and they've regressed in mechanics. People complained about DAI only having 8 skills slots then this game doubled down and made it 3, can't swap and control full party anymore, and they also decreased party limit to 3. Disappointing. For 2024 good games so far: Black Myth Wukong is a no brainer, Helldivers 2 (sequel to an old ip but still good), and Stellar Blade.

Hair physics can be second to none and it won't matter a damn if the gameplay is shit, the graphics are relying on bloom and oversaturated colours to hide faults, and the story has been completely spoiled during every SINGLE info update they release... Also, don't you just love the "upgrades" the old gods did to the demons and darkspawn? The "upgrades" consist of turning them into bullet sponges, making them look like Saturday morning cartoon villains, and (checks notes) turning THE FUCKING BLIGHT INTO A STATUS EFFECT!!! I will never forgive them for that one 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 I think I might need to stop watching the updates, it's abundantly clear by now that nothing they announce from here out will make me think the game is anything but a farce, and the devs want to divorce the company and the franchise from the OG player base. The characters look like they've been airbrushed or have a beauty filter on it. The story is dumb. The "explanations" for the changes on character desings are stupid because we can all tell they are just copy pasting assets and haven't actually bothered in designing anything interesting. And the fucking videos are BORING. They are so boring to watch. Like... you are trying to sell me this product and I want to click off a minute into the video.

No third companion, and no control over wgo can join the party. You have to let any characters with environmental skills in to drop platforms, activate elven machinery , etc. Red lights over companion rooms when they are ready to fuck or talk. Backtracking to change the knife loadout for various puzzles, or elemental types. Grinding resources to upgrade shops is still as boring as inquisition grinding, but at least the crafting gave you more options. Plus are you Spanish with that attitude? 🙂

I am very interested in this game as I have been paying Dragón Age since Origins - I have been waiting 10 years for this and so far disappointed. I still look forward to the release, however I am not pre-ordering and honestly going to wait until I can watch a couple of hours of gameplay before I decide. Sucks cause I will have to endure many spoilers all because I can not trust this is going to be a game I want to buy or play.

3:19 This is probably that type of skill tree that does nothing BUT add passives and makes useless skills become usefull, but in the end change almost nothing to the gameplay. I could be wrong, when it comes out I will see people trying to make builds to see if there are builds to be made, but by the way it looks, you just ADD passives until you actually reach the specializations you had in Inquisition to open different skills that you pretty much substitute in place of old idiotic and useless skills and an ultimate for the specific class, like Reaper, etc.
The 8 ability limit already pissed me off in Inquisition (clearly streamlined for consoles) and now they have 3??? Wtf, I know it's gonna get so damn annoying to have all these unlockable abilities but then you can't use them unless you constantly swap them around. It makes one not to even WANT any new abilities and instead only go for passives. (In fact I bet their skill tree is gonna be padded with shitton of like +5 stat boosts. Wow, so interesting.) Yet they dare talking about how "tactically rich" the game is while limiting all your tactics to such ridiculous amount. Pfft yeah right, tactical RPG my ass.

it really seems like they wanted to capture the Path of Exile / Last Epoch audience with that skill tree, but at the same time maximising the mobile game ui aesthetic. i would compare this to raid shadow legends, but even that feels like an insult to raid man. Idk what to say
@@nuhre True they missed that mark entirely. Would be nice to follow the post mortem of the game and how ideas came to be, see what worked and what failed in the end though. I'm not at all positive about this skill system. They could have taken inspiration from the miniaturised skill trees that Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Prey (2017) had. I feel like those would have flowed better for this sort of game, if they wanted to make something new and unique.
It is EXTREMELY lazy, ice magic was a core fundamental part of the base game mage class and they literally made it so not a specialization. Solas is literally int the story and is now supposedly like a mentor by stander (someone that could teach rift mage specialization), morigan is also in the game and also supposedly plays the role of an advisor (someone that could teach shapeshifter specialization which is more then perfect for our lack luster only 3 equitable abilities [can equip 3 forms and when transforming have 2 abilities in each form and the. The ability to shift back. Knight enchanter (which canonically uses a spirit blade not daggers) If they wanted to do something cool they could’ve even done the virtuoso from inquisitions online play as specialization. Instead we got the lazy Evoker spec

The end of BioWare? And on this performance, good riddance. They haven't been much good since NeverWinterNights, imo. DAO was a bit of a comedown after that - they should have just updated the graphics engine and made QoL improvements, concentrating on the game content instead of remaking the wheel every time. DA2 was awful imo, I lasted about 1 hour. It already was miles away from NWN and BG2. DAI is poor too, I've never got through a few hours of that either. Now we're at a dumbed down, simplistic, super cheap Souls-like veneer of RPG that has none of the winning formula left, just the name. They obviously don't want to make an RPG. And they've no idea what made BG and then NWN good. Plus they don't care? They are simply chasing the bucks, hence the empty and soulless, lowest-common-denominator shit like this. It's for children. I mean, it even looks like a sweetshop. I've avoided knowing anything about BG3 for a year and am currently playing through that. I can sit for an hour thinking through how to approach a big fight, weighing up alternatives, considering outcomes. The range of choice can be overwhelming. But this is how you make an engaging RPG, imo. Even their previous title had largely nailed the formula so with the addition of a serious budget they blew off the doors. By iterating and giving us what we want, not reinventing the formula each time. Who knows - maybe Larian get this IP too one day? :D

By providing your style of critique makes Jaun's argument for it being click bate invalid. Your simply passing on real critique to EA/Bioware. Bioware tarnished their own brand image with their last two games. Bioware decided to release Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem in the incomplete states they were in. Bioware chose to walk away without fully fixing the mistakes, they abandoned both games. Now they believe there is redemption with the fictional modern audience.
It’s just sad that these DEI and ESG obsessed people have worked their way into positions of authority, and have USED that position to get a hold of, and ruin, not only one franchise, but multiple at this point. I’m only happy to see that, so far, all of these garbage game that have recently been released have failed, miserably. Its gives hope that maybe in the future these game developers will realize garbage like this is NOT what the majority of gamers, much less the fans of these franchises, want.

I think I might need to stop watching the updates, it's abundantly clear by now that nothing they announce from here out will make me think the game is anything but a farce, and the devs want to divorce the company and the franchise from the OG player base. It's really upsetting. It's much more therapeutic and cathartic to watch videos like yours for my updates 💜💜🤣🤣
The characters look like they've been airbrushed or have a beauty filter on it. The story is dumb. The "explanations" for the changes on character desings are stupid because we can all tell they are just copy pasting assets and haven't actually bothered in designing anything interesting. And the fucking videos are BORING. They are so boring to watch. Like... you are trying to sell me this product and I want to click off a minute into the video.

Damn 10 years and the combat is 10% of what inquisition did, also the UI, companion base, everything screams multiplayers game with microtransactions, i give them 5 months to give the excuse "you can't make BG3 type of mods because of the engine", "we can't add more content or patchs bcz we are more into bullshitting on older games to say this one is the real deal" or the classical "the engine is too old we can't do our jobs".
Or the mods just break the game like they do in Inquisition. And no amount of modding will save the fucking story.

No third companion, and no control over wgo can join the party. You have to let any characters with environmental skills in to drop platforms, activate elven machinery , etc.
Red lights over companion rooms when they are ready to fuck or talk.
Backtracking to change the knife loadout for various puzzles, or elemental types.
Grinding resources to upgrade shops is still as boring as inquisition grinding, but at least the crafting gave you more options.

I am very interested in this game as I have been paying Dragón Age since Origins - I have been waiting 10 years for this and so far disappointed. I still look forward to the release, however I am not pre-ordering and honestly going to wait until I can watch a couple of hours of gameplay before I decide. Sucks cause I will have to endure many spoilers all because I can not trust this is going to be a game I want to buy or play.

3:19 This is probably that type of skill tree that does nothing BUT add passives and makes useless skills become usefull, but in the end change almost nothing to the gameplay. I could be wrong, when it comes out I will see people trying to make builds to see if there are builds to be made, but by the way it looks, you just ADD passives until you actually reach the specializations you had in Inquisition to open different skills that you pretty much substitute in place of old idiotic and useless skills and an ultimate for the specific class, like Reaper, etc.
The 8 ability limit already pissed me off in Inquisition (clearly streamlined for consoles) and now they have 3??? Wtf, I know it's gonna get so damn annoying to have all these unlockable abilities but then you can't use them unless you constantly swap them around. It makes one not to even WANT any new abilities and instead only go for passives. (In fact I bet their skill tree is gonna be padded with shitton of like +5 stat boosts. Wow, so interesting.) Yet they dare talking about how "tactically rich" the game is while limiting all your tactics to such ridiculous amount. Pfft yeah right, tactical RPG my ass.
The fact that I'm going to have to play with a controller makes me want to end it all.

I'm not at all positive about this skill system. They could have taken inspiration from the miniaturised skill trees that Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Prey (2017) had. I feel like those would have flowed better for this sort of game, if they wanted to make something new and unique.

It is EXTREMELY lazy, ice magic was a core fundamental part of the base game mage class and they literally made it so not a specialization.
Solas is literally int the story and is now supposedly like a mentor by stander (someone that could teach rift mage specialization), morigan is also in the game and also supposedly plays the role of an advisor (someone that could teach shapeshifter specialization which is more then perfect for our lack luster only 3 equitable abilities [can equip 3 forms and when transforming have 2 abilities in each form and the. The ability to shift back.
Knight enchanter (which canonically uses a spirit blade not daggers)
If they wanted to do something cool they could’ve even done the virtuoso from inquisitions online play as specialization. Instead we got the lazy Evoker spec

the main issue is that they moved away from dark fantasy when making inquisition, they pushed further away from dark fantasy in veilguard, yet they still play coy and pretend this shit is still the same dark fantasy game. like bruv, just instead of making 'da4' make 'new bioware rpg' and do you heroic colorful fantasy. don't fucking play bait n switch and expect older games that enjoyed your previous titles to simply take that didlo up their bums without lube.

@@nuhre well as i said, they moved away from dark fantasy setting and changed it to heroic setting. they did it in a moronic way (should have just created a new setting) that now causes all people to go 'hol up this aint my dark fantasy rpg that i played in da1 and 2!' to me this was already clearly visible in inquisition - which is why i stopped looking at this game as 'dragon age' or 'dark fantasy'. since inq. its 'dungeons & dragons & blightspawn' XD

They haven't been much good since NeverWinterNights, imo. DAO was a bit of a comedown after that - they should have just updated the graphics engine and made QoL improvements, concentrating on the game content instead of remaking the wheel every time.
DA2 was awful imo, I lasted about 1 hour. It already was miles away from NWN and BG2. DAI is poor too, I've never got through a few hours of that either. Now we're at a dumbed down, simplistic, super cheap Souls-like veneer of RPG that has none of the winning formula left, just the name.
They obviously don't want to make an RPG. And they've no idea what made BG and then NWN good. Plus they don't care? They are simply chasing the bucks, hence the empty and soulless, lowest-common-denominator shit like this. It's for children. I mean, it even looks like a sweetshop.
I've avoided knowing anything about BG3 for a year and am currently playing through that. I can sit for an hour thinking through how to approach a big fight, weighing up alternatives, considering outcomes. The range of choice can be overwhelming. But this is how you make an engaging RPG, imo. Even their previous title had largely nailed the formula so with the addition of a serious budget they blew off the doors. By iterating and giving us what we want, not reinventing the formula each time.
Who knows - maybe Larian get this IP too one day? :D
I think I'm ready to let it die and move onto better things tbh. I hope Larian keeps working on new IPs and actually shows the industry how it's fucking done.

By providing your style of critique makes Jaun's argument for it being click bate invalid. Your simply passing on real critique to EA/Bioware. Bioware tarnished their own brand image with their last two games. Bioware decided to release Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem in the incomplete states they were in. Bioware chose to walk away without fully fixing the mistakes, they abandoned both games. Now they believe there is redemption with the fictional modern audience.
