The thing I envision when I hear bloodline game is that you start with one guy and get married and have children with your goal to continue your bloodline as long as possible. However in this type of a game I can't seem to envision a way to make it without painting homosexuality as a negative as it makes it so one of your children will never have kids. Again it paints it as a problem which is definitely worse than not including it

there are reasons we haven't seen an entire LMNOPQ+ studio. 1) they don't want to work for their "representation". 2) most of the LMNOPQ+ community is straight and being dishonest about it because they see an opportunity to victimize themselves and get stuff that they don't deserve.
Plus, they will probably never buy or play the game anyway.

When my dev studio was "cancelled" years ago, we didn't apologize or give them a single inch of ground. Instead we said "not everything is for everyone, and what we're making isn't for you." Streisand effect kicked in and a massive community of people who never knew about us before the incident backed us up.
Remember that these people also love to single out people who are smaller than them. A group of 1,000 crazy people can seem massively intimidating if you're just a couple guys and you're not popular yet. It can seem like the world is against you. Don't back down, normal people will almost always come in and have your back.

No, he's not. That person is not an advocate for this. The full tweets showcased in this view make no indication that this "16yo with an anime pfp" as ASmongold puts it is on the side of the review-bombing mob. On the contrary, they're only trying to give the dev context behind everyone else's anger. Very convenient how Asmongold completely ignores the tweet where they voice their full support for the dev and vision to paint them as one of the rabid bad guys.

The fun thing is the game is super niche and wouldnt appeal to more then 1% of the gaming community.... the fact that it even spawned a 3:16 video from asmon is already a HUGE achievement for the dev.

yeah exactly I did not expect to hear from this game outside of me accidentally playing the demo for the first game and thinking it was a pretty good roguelike but not my cup of tea.

Having spoken to Artur back in the days of the first Soulash game’s development, I can attest to him being an open-minded and kind individual. Polish people simply do not subscribe to this whole idea of identity politics and attacking people based on their beliefs that can happen in other places. They have their values, do not impose them on anyone outside of Poland, but most importantly, absolutely do not allow anyone to try and influence or dictate to them what their values should be.

Everyone should have a right to have the beliefs he likes, but no one should be allowed to impose / try to force them on others.

I'm really proud of this guy for not bending the knee to those spoiled "advocates". Demanding representation is the absolute WORST way to go about it, and seeing that makes me more ashamed of myself than actual bigotry ffs... I'm shocked that none of them advocated for an adoption system, since it isn't even exclusive to same-sex marriage! I'm a huge fan of The Witcher, and the idea of adopting an orphan to save them from a bad situation sounds really cool, and I would love for that to be a feature. But I'm not the one making the damn game, so I don't have a single clue how hard or problematic that would be. Yet the community is acting like they're unable to play it if they're not straight. Being queer isn't a goddamn handicap!

It's a game where the main character is a heterosexual. The sexuality of the main character shouldn't decide if you like the game or not.
i'm heterosexual, and I wouldn't have problem with playing a game where main character is gay. It's just a part of them. It doesn't matter if they love men, women, both or anybody else. If you make the character good, nobody will even look at their sexuality.
But the problem here is even more complex, because the game resolves around building a bloodline. It's not new concept in games in medieval era. And it should be obvious that you can't build a bloodline when you're gay. That's logical. And about adoption, in medieval times the adopted kid would hardly ever get right to the throne. The european monarchs were crazy about "blood quality" and religiousness(it should be obvious because the power to make somebody a king comes from a pope.)
For example if you were born from a affair with somebody outside of aristocracy, you could be considered to have to dirty blood to rule. Or if you were a child out of wedlock you very often would have 0 rights for the throne. And because Europeans were so crazy about being pure, it would not be logical to include it in a game like this.
Also gay acts were often penalized in medieval times. For example, if you were caught having a gay romance you would get a brutal punishment, being burned most of the time.
The conclusion is that giving an option to be gay would hardly make even sense. Because of the theme of the game and the time period it takes place in.

@@zippery Honestly, you don't know? Poland is a Catholic country, to the extreme. Back in the day everybody had to be "christian"/"catholic", or the prejudice you would face would basically exclude you from social life, and make everything else harder. Hell, even when I was a kid it was still around. I got thrown out of a church for having longer hair as a dude. People could spit on pennies and throw them at you. Some weddings still had sermons that basically emphasized "woman be property", some even to this day. You haven't seen "effed up" till you saw religious prejudice.

Unfortunately in every part of society each group has aholes that believe they’re entitled to more no matter what they get. Most would be happy to be treated like a normal person and then others think the world should worship the ground they walk on. The reason these people are popping up more in what were historically and even today in some places still are unfairly treated minorities is because they can take advantage of these groups historical need of having to support each other no matter what as they don’t have many allies and can use it as a shield of you can’t call me out for being an ahole because I’m XYZ you’re clearly just a bigot.
Unfortunately our species seems to have a predisposition for only caring about ourselves and no matter where you go you’ll find people who take it too far.

What's funny is that I wouldn't even put it past people these days, even if they couldn't be more different. Call of Duty, and most shooters, are not only highly stylized, but very individualistic and customizable. You get custom markings, weapons, attachments and you operate on your own, moving throughout the map with little real cohesion with your team.
Meanwhile, in actual combat, soldiers rarely move on their own. They usually operate within a Fireteam, Squad, Platoon or Company framework, with the leaders of each unit coordinating with each other and their superiors to achieve a designated goal without mindless destruction and chaos.
The funniest thing is you don't even necessarily need to be a soldier to learn that. All it takes is doing a bit of reading on actual military tactics.

It's important to fully read things before reacting harshly, and this is a great example of that. That anime protagonist profile pic person was genuinely trying to help the dev by explaining what the problem was. They weren't dogpiling on the hate, they were listing why the masses were reacting as they were, which is why the dev was appreciative. They made it clear that that wasn't how *they* felt, just that that's the viewpoint of the people giving hate from the decision. People *are* being oppressed using that language, and that's why it's a big issue in the US. It doesn't excuse anyone who's harassing a random indie dev, or anyone at all for that matter. But that particular post you singled out was being not just unproblematic but downright civil, and more folk like that would be better. You read a third of the post, didn't get the context, and made a bunch of assumptions. The same way that people review bombing the game are doing when they see the dev didn't add same sex marriage, assuming the dev is being bigoted and not that it's a gameplay and code logistics issue.
That said, good on the dev for standing their ground. Just an unfortunate bit of culture clash for that particular tweet.
Even if he were to say, "I wouldn't know how to write that type of relationship." They would demand he hire 'consultants' to write his game for him and pay them well. The demands never stop.
As a game developer, it always ticked me off every time someone use "it shouldn't be that hard" as an excuse for forcing whatever feature into the game. People who said that don't know jack about game or software development, period. If it was that easy, why don't they do it themselves? The developer isn't your slave whom you can push around to satisfy your ego. Get a life!

I’m not one of these people saying kids shouldn’t be allowed on devices, but when they spend every living moment glued to a screen it’s too much, with these ‘parents’ not caring what their kids access as long as they’re quiet. They didn't teach them character, manner, nor subject any longer. They didn't spending time with their own child anymore (yes, the economic is hard.. But even a hours good enough), even if they did, they're glued to their phone as well.. That's not spending time with your children, you're just minding your own business around/near your child.
That's why there's alot of those uneducated, unemployed, parentless behaviour on the streets, and even then these is an insult to those actual people because they at least have manner and characters (such as those homeless kids). The next generation is doomed.

Lol as a 17 year old without a phone and any social media accounts of my own (exclude yt), whenever i make this claim at school i get absolutely flamed for it. I am now the only person in my grade to have a phone, and I sincerely thank my parents for raising me this way.

English is tought in Poland since 8th grade for 10 years for everyone. Usually 2-3 classes a week.
You could expect half people to.speak somewhat good English and 30% a fluent English
when english is your native language you can comfortably suck at it, when you learn it you want to speak as well as you possibly can so you won't make people feel like there's a language barrier. or at least that's my experience
Polish people are usually good at speaking english due to a lot of factors. Like video games and stuff.
Ps. I have a friend whose family comes from Poland, his parents and sister all speak pretty good english after living in Poland and immigrating here.
