To clarify on the PC meat hooks: The speed of the meat hook is barely affected at all when going directly to your target. The speed of strafing with meat hook is increased based on FPS, but you CAN NOT use forward/backward keys while doing it. Use strafe keys and your camera to do these incredibly fast meat hooks.
I love this. Thanks for the insight into this aspect of the meathook. I want to add a technique that I use often that isn't really explored in any of these vids. So in the vid that was mentioned in the beginning it's all about horizontal distance. You can actually cancel your meathook by switching weapons. So you gain momentum from the initial meathook then you can switch to the ballista, for instance, then turn around quickly and ballista boost for any momentum you wouldve gained from hooking all the way to the target. This is nice because it gives you more options for your meathook while in the heat of battle.

You can do it! Just takes time and a little bit of practice. Maybe go into a level with health cheats on or an early in the campaign mess around with demon distances and when to detach
Remember the part when you said the meathook always launches you fowards when you jump well the meathook can can bend quite a significant ammount 50-60 degrese and when you jump you will be launched in the direction you were looking at(ofcourse the timing depends on the distance of the demon ur YEET HOOKING)

I want to add, FPS does increase meat hook movement speed. I noticed when I turn off ray tracing and go from 100 fps to 250-300, meathook sends me flying.
Holy shit. I hate the Gladiator fight. I never thought to use the fodder that spawn in the arena to shoot him from above. I kinda figured he's just invincible until his green flash. This is why I love videogames.

Probably I'd like to see a guide to improvement on console. Since even I play on PS4 but I'm stucked on a "level" of playong and I simply can't improve...but I play DOOM Eternal almost daily....
The reason I can't play the way I did play DOOM 2016 before is lack of meathook. I can even cope with no dashes and other stuff that aren't in 2016 and are in DE. It's very op. Also it's the reason you can easily be like 99% in the air. Well, haven't tested high framerate meathooks, but 60fps is like doing it on PS4.
That rumor doesn't make much sense if you ask me since you can't fire the meathook unless it is locked on. So unless in the code they actively check for a distance based on your framerate that wouldn't make sense. And since they likely just raycast or conecast a certain distance I don't think the longer meathook is true. As pinned though the strafing being faster does kind of make sense !
I finally got a pc and I’m better than I ever was on Xbox. But I’m still not UN ready, I’ve finished more levels and slayer gates without dying on this playthrough than I ever have before but I still get killed.

What do you mean??? The button for the meathook is the same button for sticky bombs on the combat shotgun it’s whatever button you have to activate your weapon mods lol
Jumping is the best way to disconnect. Thats what throws you in the air (yeethooking) making you more fluid in your movement. You can also switch weapons. But jumping is the best way to do it

I appreciate this guide a lot. I am getting great at quick weapon switching but my advanced meathook game could use some polishing. Haha
Quick swapping is half the battle. If say meathooking may be a bit more important as you can dodge incoming attacks and be swifter on your feet
