yo... is that? no way, you can't be the dude from the video!? can you?
Now this takes me back. My first big experience with modded TF2 on the xbox was with a guy named Meet the Crit. Meet the Crit, being a savvy chap, used his powers to turn 2Fort into a new map basically, cutting off a few routes but adding a few new ones, making ramps that used the Gordan Freeman glass pane material so you were walking on these weirdly ornate ramps. Just really cool stuff for the time. I got so nostalgic for the game that I went to try and stream it a little while ago, and there were absolutely no servers at all it was dead at that moment in time. It really is one of those things that you had to be there for.
at the very least you can still play it on PC, not quite the same but its around.
There’s actually servers on Xbox, the server browser is broken.
Finding a modded server back in the day was like striking gold.
thank you for reminding me of those days.
They’re still common, there’s a discord for Xbox TF2.
@@RandomHandleLol1738 no way what’s the discord ?!?
Thank you for reminding me to wipe my ass , I sharted like an Hour ago completely forgot dhit
send a link?
I still remember the time I was sucking at a boss in Borderlands 1 on 360 and some drop-in gave me a shield with near infinite hitpoints.
I was totally amazed he could do that but also afraid I was gonna get in trouble with Xbox.
2:45 I remember tons of niggas cappin like this
1:59 omg someone remembers dr. hax :DDDDDD
gmod idiot box was my entire childhood :D
I know I’m very late to this video but as a old modder for the Left 4 Dead Series I can definitely say it was a very enjoyable time to explore theses games on a console. One of my fondest memories was explaining to a bunch of old friends how I even did it in the first place. Awesome video.
I remember reading about Valve had made a new update, and wanted to push it out, but Microsoft made you pay to update your games, so Valve just refused.
Would've been interesting to see what the update would've been.
that's also why l4d had paid dlc
probably what it was on pc, like the goldrush update or something
Smh microtransactionsoft
@@Manavine It must be, as even Call of Duty 4 and World at War had free DLC on Steam
I don’t want them to update this version because I don’t want them to patch these trollgineer exploits that they patched for the pc version in January 2008!!!!! m.ruclips.net/video/NaPxUEMiEdc/видео.html
My experience was basically the same. I was so amazed with the things being done, like payload on dustbowl, and the fact that the console editions are still being played. It was quite a long ago I played, maybe about 2019? but i still found a dedicated community. It holds a special place in my heart.
hey i used to play back in 2019-20 and i remember that exact community u r on about it was always the same people playing on the same maps. i still have them all added on xbox im pretty sure.
I think the server browser is broken, around like 2, 3000 people still play it
When I was in Primary School, I sometimes went to my friends house and booted up their Xbox 360 I always played TF2 on The Orange Box. The memories I made still are with me today.
dr giving credit to the entire console modding community shows theyre a great person. I hope wherever they are, theyre doing well and continuing a project that makes them happy
Wow forgot all about modding console games. Thanks for reminding about those awesome memories. Mr.BigRUclipsGuy and I can’t wait to see what Dr. does next!!!!
If you’re 30+ years old you’ll remember console modding with Halo 2. Now that was fun!
0:16 this delivery has left me weezing ever since this video has dropped
That photo of the PC you used was **literally** the first model of PC I had as a child. Compaq Presario [Model Number] Not the one I used to play TF2 tho, that would be a few OS's away yet. It even has the speakers and the monitor too. That photo makes me so nostalgic.
This really brought me back, I used to be top 10 NA in the game no lifing 10 years ago. Thanks for this.
What i would love to see is OG Xbox HL2 modding. Episode 1 and 2 squeezed into that version and more.
missed playing tf2 when the 360 stuff was actually around and only played it years later however that WAS my tf2 experience
Thanks for using Ape Escape music. I don't hear it very often, but when I do I always appreciate it. The whole OST is a timeless masterpiece.
I can also hear some Ridge Racer as well
I miss 360 tf2, it felt so pure and it was fun playing 2Fort and Dustbowl on basically launch TF2. There was also alot of fun bugs in the game, like launching people with the syringe gun out of bounds. Also during the era of the good ol days of playing MW2 and Halo 3 with da bois after highschool.
It’s not just the needle jump bug. There’s also more bugs too. There’s a bug of where if you crouch jump with your head hitting the ceiling, your head will go through the ceiling and you’ll be able to build tele exits out of bounds as an engie in whatever out of bounds area that was right above the ceiling that your head was hitting. There’s also a bug on CP_Well for the door of the spawn room that your team respawns in when they die after you capped the middle control point of where as a scout, if you are quick, you can QUICKLY run at the door from the inside of the spawn room before it opens all the way to crouch jump on the door to jam it while it’s only half open so you can trap your teammates in the room. There’s also another one with the grenade launcher of where you can kill your own teammates by shooting at least 3 or 4 grenades at them and then QUICKLY switching to team spectator just before they explode so that they can deal damage to your teammates and friendly buildings. It’s more easier to do to engies since they usually always stand still next to their buildings when guarding the intels and control points. All of these bugs including the needle jump bug were already patched for the pc version in January 2008. Even though they were all game-breaking, I still really wish for valve to revert all of them for the pc version just for the players that wish to annoy others all just for their certain hilarious reactions in text and voice chat. Exploits are literally the ONLY thing in video game history that causes more funnier reactions than anything else. For example, this tf2 exploit youtuber by the name of Delfy got told by a player in text chat he killed with exploits to suck poop out of a homeless man’s butthole after he sticky spammed him from an already patched exploit area high above the map on the christmas payload map Wutville. I love to troll. Trolling means irritating and annoying people so hard online for your amusement just to laugh at their reactions. It’s a very funny meme from 2010 that is still very popular to this day. If I had a chance to get to know the last tf2 developer’s name and talk to him in person, I would explain all my reasoning of what would make him get used to the fun of abusing game-breaking bugs and reverting back all the 2007 bugs. He still likes to revert bugs that the tf2 community still really likes, but not game-breaking ones though since he’s still not aware of my reasoning. In 2014, there was also a bug on the payload map Upward that I really want him to revert too of where if you built a tele exit on the edge of the gigantic hole of where the payload is supposed to drop and used the teleporter with a random chance of the tele exit dropping pieces of bread in the hole, it would trigger the payload explosion as if the blu team actually pushed the payload into the hole to win the game even though they didn’t so that you could make the payload cart invisible to the whole server, but blu would still be able to push it. And then blu would be able to win the game if they pushed the invisible cart all the way to the checkpoint that is JUST before the hole of where it’s originally supposed to go.
As a kid I remember playing the crap out of TF2 360, I still remember the time I joined a random game and it was the crane map from the highway level of HL2. Was super cool to play and see what was possible (the modder also gave all the orange box achievements out to everyone)
My entry to TF2 started on the Xbox 360 and still lingers today because I play almost exclusively with a controller even today.
Bro the fact that you played Snowbound Earthbound remix in here is fucking nuts. Such an obscure song I used to BOP to back in the day yet here we are. @ratlobber
I remember being a young lad playing the orange box tf2 and man, the fun it still was. Joining a server not knowing it had been fully modded, like seeing custom maps on console was insane
is that Ridge Racer music? That's awesome! This was a good video, thank you much.
i loved this growing up and experienced one modded game, but i kept on thinking it was a dream.
*10:25** You Are Funny. Team Fortress 2 IS Masterpiece ! Maggot. !*
I think People who where on console in these Golden Days absolutely understand where youre coming from. When i was a Kid with my Ps3, i always felt severely restricted. Ive heard so many things that PC could do, to see these things come to console feels to me like Pandoras Box being opened.
Can really tell the old ego raptor inspiration in the way you deliver a lot of lines. Makes it a very entertaining watch
Amazing choice of music
Farewell 360 version
I was playing TF2 on the 360 too man. Playing 4+ hours games during school nights was awesome. Got the Ape escape music in the background too, instant subscribe brother.
I remember playing tf2 on the 360 and got a hacker for a short amount of time in the lobby, he added weird effects and props to the map, it was wild and really fun at the same time
360 was an amazing time to be part of and ill never forget the amazing times made while playing xbox 360 games!
I recently got the Xbox 360 version of Team Fortress 2 for Christmas and now I know what to expect
The reason Valve never updated the console ports of their games (or even made console ports for certain titles in the first place) is because Sony and Microsoft were EXTREMELY greedy, and they wanted Valve to charge money for every DLC so that Microsoft could get a cut of the take. That's what Gabe Newell himself has said in multiple interviews from a decade ago, and considering the dark road that modern console gaming has gone down, that sounds exactly like the Sony and Microsoft I know.
This Xbox version of Tf2 was the first way I played Tf2 I loved it so much that I got my first laptop just to switch over and play Tf2 for the PC but I will always hold this Verdionnin high regards for introducing me to this banger of a game
New objective:
Get the orange box on Xbox 360 and walk around the out of bounds parts of the map with the G man model to scare anyone who notices shitless.
I used to believe gmod was some cheat code in the orange box. When I got older I realized it was an actual game you could buy.
brings me back to playing TF2 on the orange box for the xbox 360 and ending up in a server with low gravity pretty obviously.
However, the hacks were not listed, and it didn't take me too long to realize that it also gave spy unlimited cloaking...
Shortly after the entire server was playing as spy having the most epic duel on the final point ever
I used to play TF2 on the Xbox because I never had the capability to afford a computer, already had an Xbox at the time, and I was young. Every time I'd play there was always a modded server with many interesting cosmetics and items (which were somehow in the game) and you would actually carry over some of the gamerules to your own hosted server if you got lucky. Very interesting times.
For me it was halo 2. Destruction derby colosseum maps on that one snow map with the gates. Race tracks, guns that shoot wraith rounds, all kinds of fun shit. I gave up matchmaking for it but my custom games were always full. Good times.
I remember playing 360 TF2 a bunch in middle school. The big modder you'd hope to find hosting was Unrealskybox. He'd place down a flag and if you shot it you could use all of the voice commands from PC cause you could only call for Medic originally on the Xbox.
He also would make arenas out of control points and barns and have both teams melee fight in it, or other crazy stuff like that. I remember specifically that he led me through the entire red side of 2fort with the "go left" and "go right" commands and when we got to the intel he made my Heavy model flash different colors.
After about 4000 hours of tf2 on pc over the years now, I still wish I could go back to those Friday nights in middle school playing console tf2. Thanks Unrealskybox if you ever see this.

That's exactly what I felt when going into GTA IV online lobby back in the day. The Best experience I had was when someone spawned a hippo head and a Dick made out of props and attached them to everyone in the lobby. Good old Times man...
Love how Dr. Subscription count almost sextupled after this video
Wow, the 360 servers must have died fast. I got my hands on the Orange Box around 2010 and after hearing so many people rave about TF2 I started it up to find literally nobody on the servers and thought it was just a dead game. It shocked me when I found out the PC version was _soooo_ much bigger and more fleshed out than the 360 version.
ive only really been familiar with PC mods and even then im still impressed with this, the aura of a console game being turned into a sandbox feels like its seeing water go uphill
the jury-rigged nature of it, with all the side menus and slowly appearing text at the bottom make it feel even more, idk how to describe it but it has a mystique about it
Thank you for reminding me! And also, the game capturing device that was about 150$ back then, turned to 5$ real quick at a yard sale a few years later, after 3 recording sessions
Im 30 now and OrangeBox was huge thing for me as a child, mostly bcs tf2 was huge for me. 1k+ hours on couple years but all on pc. Good memories
My only memory of the modded community was when I played on a server on my old xbox 360
The server took place inside nova prospect, around the kitchen location
The few players on the server would go about fighting eachother with nothing really to do as the modded placed a deer skull trophy on their model, which was then set on fire
They would go about the map spouting voicelines we console players never heard before, the npc voicelines, even modifying players who took place in the server with a rudimentary communication wheel similar to the pcs left 4 dead allowing us to use them aswell
I only remember this because I struggled to get through a window in the map, and the modder showed me to crouch jump properly through it
Beyond this I believe the n3xt map was 2fort, in which the modder blocked off the case rooms with fences and a bunch of hl2 gunships
And then dustbowl with the modder just placing a bunchve headcrab zombies around with some dead sideways barnacle models blocking the spawn doors
This shit's like a time capsule. Truly frozen in that era; there won't be anything like it again. That exclusivity brings about a feeling of nostalgia and wistfulness that accompanies most early internet phenomena, I think. I feel the same exact way in regards to this stuff. What a niche ecosystem this weird version hacked up. It would have been a shame for it to have faded into obscurity. I love documentary type stuff on early internet culture since most of it is irreplicable and unrecorded. Cool video man. Also holy shit that is a massive fucking truck
This is the one and only TF2 I've played. Played so much of it but was really disappointed by the lack of updates it got.
I didn't know it was considered weird to play this version. Me and all my friends has Xbox Live, and The Orange Box was my first experience with Valve games, right before I got into Left 4 Dead. As far as I'm concerned, this was TF2 and the PC version was just the 360 version on crack
I meet tf2 in the orange box too, and it was a really nice experience. I recently tried to play again the xbox port, but sadly there was no one playing 😔
7:18 obama...
That’s actually JFK the 3rd Franklin
Cannot wait for DR's man vs machine update!
"Its a modded masterpiece" as it was for The Orange Box and the game now cost $35
Great video I remember playing tf2 on the Xbox way back
Playing tf2 back in 2007 when I was 15 and owned a console, it was amazing to import g man and all the half life 2 models, I remember kids going ape shit when I just put a load of models of g man just outside of reds spawn on 2fort, which really was just me and a bunch of friends having a good laugh.
I played Tf2 on the Playstation 3 version of The Orange Box and I never saw a single hacker or modder.
i sadly didnt play xbox tf2 but i did play playstation 3 tf2 and from what i see here its exactly what it was for me, people did all sort of things and had fun, so im kinda glad i didnt exactly miss out on that
Orange Box TF2 on Xbox 360 was where it was at
Man I remember always looking for that one specific host (can’t remember his name for the life of me) that had low grav and all crits on 2fort with these portals that would be in a variety of locations, all for that sweet prize at the end where he would give everyone in the lobby voice commands like “Spy!” to be used via the DPad
Great times
i had something known as orange box on Xbox 360 back in the day that have half life portal and team fortress. i believe their were 4 games but I cant remember the 4th. but i remember playing team fortress with active players.
i tried to get it on the xbox 1, i was about to buy the last copy then someone bought it.
If I’m correct, the only way to play TF2 on an X-Box was on the Orange Box
It's funny, I played the Xbox 360 version of this game not too long ago really. Even when it had really fallen off in players I was there and, you know, it's so cool seeing a community of such little people still having fun with this game. Watching one of the clips at the beginning of the video, I literally recognized the name of a player. "SPEC 2x2 ROSS". A sticky spammer at heart, a name I would come to fear for how many times he would dominate me as demoman. I didn't get to play too many modded lobbies but it really did feel nostalgic for me even though this WAS my first experience with tf2. See, while I was in the middle of fixing up my broke ass PC, I wanted to play tf2 but couldn't, until I remembered I had a 360 orange box copy and the Xbox One was backwards compatible. That was my first experience in TF2, the shittiest version of the game. It's amazing how much fun I had with it despite its faults.
Man I must've had some awful luck back then. I played The Orange Box for years and never once encountered a modded lobby or player. That's awesome to hear that it existed at such an early time though
The Xbox 360 was the first version of tf2 I played as well. I’d just play as the scout on an empty 2fort server since I didn’t have Xbox live and cap until my team won.
Damn. I hear Ridge Racer track. Based.
There was a guy who always had crazy mods on TF2 console servers, he had a RUclips channel with videos of the modded Xbox TF2 version, I think his name was “UnrealSkyBox” or something like that, I couldn’t find his channel anymore
Update: Found his channel, it’s the same name but saddly he deleted the TF2 videos :(
No fuckin way! KrazyDav!?!! I played with that dude on 360 for the longest time. Has all the tf2 achievements.
I'd love to play vanilla TF2 again on Xbox. I tried a few years ago and it was a cemetary.
I never heard of this game up till lately on RUclips
I remember creating my own server and setting the class spawns to only sniper, then I would change into spy before anyone else so I was the only one playing spy, and back stab every sniper on two fort
I'd just sit in the menus waiting for party leaders to do that so I could switch too. It was great when I'd do it and get them to shut down the whole server because they got so mad they couldn't cheat.
I sold my copy of the orange box when I was younger so I feel that pain these days.
How time has flyed I used to host these iso lobbies
For me, my modded console experiences were with Halo Reach. There was a modded gametype any console could download that let you do things like resize models, add npc models, and change some other properties
Wowie the TV head inflation furry guy reacted to yer vidya!
Tf2 on the VR is a modded masterpiece.
I used to love playing tf2 with my friends on Xbox before I had a pc
I played this port an unholy amount. But never ran into any hackers?
This was my first experience with tf2.
funny to see my boy jaredherobrine in one of your vids
jared if you see this your an awesome friend
now that i think about it, tf2 on consoles IS a pretty good idea
first time I played tf2 was at a public library because I didn't have a computer 😂
7:11 uh... Obama
legendary
Never heard of the console tf2 hack community - fascinating
A Nostalgic Masterpiece
5:21 i used to play in the lobbys from "IL a m Ib d a"
Holy shit I used to love the tf2 Xbox 360 version
I know this is old but I played the orange box tf2 on PS3 I don’t need to be catching strays out here 🥶
I love your intros
bro i swear there really was a spongebob hacker
I actually played tf2 on the 360 for 2 years before moving to pc! Weird times
Is this a 2nd channel? You sound really familiar and have a mic that’s not a pos. Makes me think
some guy also just kept flashing the logo of the band Sublime on my screen on my xbox in a hl2 highway map. weird
Awesome video man
i really need this for my xbox
When did you record this? I played this for years and all of the gamertags I saw over and over again are all popping up in your feed.
I played it back in the day and the most common hack was low gravity god it was amazing
