One of the things I like about your videos is that it is always evident that you respect and appreciate the different cultures to where you travel. Instead of being negative you turned it into an exciting experience.
Not unlike Mike Chen from strictly dumplings.. he only appreciates 7/11.. what an idiot.. he will visit Asian countries just to eat at 711 stores.. but when he is in US he visits Asian restos and will tell u that what he is eating is an authentic Asian food.. stupid
I love the history of the building and the view after you hiked as well as looking at the food. We are poor, and have not had electricity for a couple of years, and I love watch your videos as it helps to plant ideas in my brain for things I might like to try and cook, better spices, and even healthier eating as I am overweight. Often I am eating spicy flavored ramen with an over easy egg in it watching your videos as it is something I enjoy. I love seeing your wife laughing in some of the videos, and your son is so cute. What a great experience for him to get to travel the world like that. Thank you for sharing your travels with us.
Thanks Mark for taking me with you around the world. I grew up in Hong Kong and now live in Vancouver Canada. I stayed at the same Marriott hotel in Hong Kong when I went back to visit my parents years ago. It is chaotic but Lin Heung offers an authentic dim sum experience. I can relate to getting up at 2:30am after arriving in Hong Kong, the humidity, the subway ride, the busy streets and sharing table for a bowl of noodles.
Mark Wiens is such a nice guy. He is charming, gentle, polite and always has a warm smile on his face. Thank you Mark for making all the food tour videos.
Sat in rainy Manchester with a hangover, I'm being transported into Kowloon and food nirvana. I've had 4 South East Asian holidays this year, all of which were using Mark's recommendations as the backbone and they were otherworldly. Thank you!
Marc Morrell yes new year not started to good in uk and all ignore the false news report our queen is dead , she is sick not dead as some news channels are reporting , I am saying this here cause Hong Kong was part British commonwealth till we gave it back to China
Marc, get yourself to Glamorous on top of Wing Yip on a Tuesday, Saturday or Sunday afternoon. They have the trolleys with all the dim sum on like this. It's top notch brother!
my goodness.... everything looks so delicious, and the way he describes the food we can only imagine eating it already!!!. Thank you for taking us in your adventures.
I really do appreciate the great effort and precision you use in executing the pronunciations of the names the way they were intended in each culture you visit Mark.
Samira N yes! there are plenty! there are 220,000 Muslims right here and a couple of mosques. There are local delicacies that serve with halal meat at local restaurants like Wai Kee, Ma's Restaurant, and have a halal dim sum at the Islamic Centre Canteen. Dim sum usually serves sea food, so it wouldn't be a problem for you! Of course, you can opt for Indian or Pakistani restaurants which is quite common among east Asian locals.
Hi Mark, Thank you for introducing Hong Kong I am a native of HongKonger in 4:59 is "荷葉飯 Hor Yip Fan" Fried rice steamed with Lotus leaf in 7:25 is a "蠔油鴨掌 Hoi Yau Arb Chung " Ducks feet steamed with Oyster sauce And Kau Kee get famous because a lot of travel magazines introduction ,is not their taste good to get famous. there are many places in Hong Kong better than them. I hv a little suggest for people who will come to Hong Kong to travel . There are 18 districts in Hong Kong, each with a wet market "街市" (市政大廈 Municipal Services Building) set up by the government, and the "Top floor" of each wet market will be a cooked food market. However, wet markets in each district have different style food... from Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night supper. Usually , Spend 5 US dollars you can have a full set Chinese or Western style breakfast. - Kwun Chung Municipal Services Building : need by Austin MTR ststion; Native of Hong Kong food - Kowloon city municipal services building : Chinese Hotpot, Thai Food..... - Tai Po municipal services building : Beefs noodles, Fishsball noodles......& Sea food - Mongkon municipal services building : Conveniently located in downtown Kowloon; Hong Kong's traditional Congee, Milk Tea , Local Carts Noodles.
I like Mark's video, not just a chance to enjoy the fun of his head tilting over nice foods, he takes you to place of interests, local museums for a change in the same video clip, awesome!
Mark...you have just made the ULTIMATE FOOD TRIP of a LIfe--Time of all the places you finally Hit the International Food Capital, which I have mentioned to people I have known through my 45 years in the Fine Dining Spectrum I've been in, even when I retired I even cooked for movie stars!!! Hong Kong is the Pinnacle of International Food and Shopping...no place can you find the Best of the Best...I can diffinatly see you and Ying and your sister-in-law enjoyed every minute of this trip.
Always amazed at the excellence of these videos with such delicious food. Mark has a very pleasant, clean-cut personality which is also why so many viewers watch!
hi Mark, i've been watching your videos for sometime now...they're like a breath of fresh air. The food shots are mouth watering and your style is so simple yet so entertaining.
I've had a lot of dim sum in my life, from New York to California, most of the time you don't have to fight for the food. Sometimes during the busiest hour, you do have to make special requests to the waiters and they watch for the kitchen to get you want you really want, like don tot (egg custard dessert) or beef fun roll, my favorites!
So glad that you've recommended Lin Heung, very rare to find a traditional dim sum place in HK these days where you can still experience the real yum cha culture I'm so surprised you haven't been kicked out of Kau Kee...They are famous for being rude
Happy New Year Mark. That's definitely my favorite local dimsum place. I always get an order of their char siu (gotta ask for half lean half fatty) and braised duck leg soup rice. Yummmm! Their tea is also of good quality. The brisket place on the other hand used to be decent but not anymore. The soup base is just MSG these days unfortunately. A noodle place mostly for tourists and is over-priced for that type of food. There's a very famous fish congee place in central... try that next time Mark.
The fish @ 22:24 is called a "Big-Eye" or here in Hawai'i "Aweoweo" (ah-vey-oh-vey-oh) very tasty fish we catch at night. I'm sure your grandparents in Hawai'i have eaten it.
Mark, that's my favorite dim sum dish too. My parents and relatives know whenever we go to lunch , if they don't order some, I'm going to be grumpy. Hahaha
I've been in HK many time and remembered well how hectic to eat in some of these restaurant, waiting for table is another thing people would stand next to your table to wait for you to finish so they can take your place. It's not a relax atmosphere at all. Everybody eat in the hurry, the place is noisy, people are not friendly, everything is so expensive but the food is good so maybe it's worth it to try.
@glory_ch She is claustrophobic, plus she's bitching about the place not having a "relax atmosphere", the place being noisy, and the ppl there "not friendly" (i.e. being real as opposed to having a waiter check on her every 5 minutes to see if "everything is okay") She's just at the wrong place period.
Went to yum cha for breakfast in Hong Kong 7 years ago next to Novotel Hotel, we couldn't read any of the words, so we just ordered by tricking 12 items randomly on the paper, was all very delicious 😋😋😋😋
Allen Lee It is, absolutely! And the food there is amazing! Even the touristy food is delicious. I strongly recommend the Ho Choi Seafood Restaurant in TST. Great view, great food, lovely waitstaff, and an abundance of personal space. :)
Tsim Sha Tsui, across the water from Kowloon. The restaurant is in the building right next to the Intercontinental Grand Stanford (to the right, if you're facing the hotel). :)
We went on two separate tours to China and when we went into the restaurant it would be up a long flight of stairs to the second floor. This vid reminded me of that. Wonderful trips and tour guides that stayed with you throughout the 2. 11-day trips.
Hong Kong food is the best. I am from Hong Kong. We live in America, and we traveled a lot, but can't find any food better than Hong Kong. That's why Hong Kong is called Food and Shopping Paradise. There is no sales tax in Hong Kong.
Mark all the places you and wife travel to eat the food in that country are all delicious. Draw tourist's there. I love the food they have in Hong Kong.

The atmosphere in the dim sum restaurant is like the fittest survives. I can understand if food scarcity prevails but in this world of abundance why is there such need to grab food at the expense of others. Did u you eat in places where you can breathe at the same time? Pl share those eating joints.
Yes, on a recent visit to HK, I thought dim sum in Malaysia is so much better, more variety, more space and style, and still very affordable. The famous HK dim sum chain had to fold up in Malaysia as it couldn't compete!
One of the things I like about your videos is that it is always evident that you respect and appreciate the different cultures to where you travel. Instead of being negative you turned it into an exciting experience.
Yes his energy is great !
Not unlike Mike Chen from strictly dumplings.. he only appreciates 7/11.. what an idiot.. he will visit Asian countries just to eat at 711 stores.. but when he is in US he visits Asian restos and will tell u that what he is eating is an authentic Asian food.. stupid
Curry. Brisket. And noodles. That sounds so heavenly to me.
I love the history of the building and the view after you hiked as well as looking at the food. Mark, that's my favorite dim sum dish too. My parents and relatives know whenever we go to lunch , if they don't order some, I'm going to be grumpy. Hahaha
Can we just take a moment to respect his dedication for this channel and our entertainment
Thought food was meant to be cheap? o.o
It's Worth it, trust me. You don't find it anywhere.
Victoria Roth totally agree. Moreover everytime you have to sit down on same table with other customers which is very embarrassing.
Victoria Roth don't try at rushing time, avoid that time
@glory_ch
She is claustrophobic, plus she's bitching about the place not having a "relax atmosphere", the place being noisy, and the ppl there "not friendly" (i.e. being real as opposed to having a waiter check on her every 5 minutes to see if "everything is okay")
She's just at the wrong place period.
I'm glad you took the hike instead of the funicular. I will do the same when I go to Hong Kong. thanks Mark! God Bless you
I envy your metabolism.
Went to yum cha for breakfast in Hong Kong 7 years ago next to Novotel Hotel, we couldn't read any of the words, so we just ordered by tricking 12 items randomly on the paper, was all very delicious 😋😋😋😋
Crazy crowded and packed in HK ... can't imagine myself living there ... should be fun for visit / being a tourist though
Allen Lee It is, absolutely! And the food there is amazing! Even the touristy food is delicious. I strongly recommend the Ho Choi Seafood Restaurant in TST. Great view, great food, lovely waitstaff, and an abundance of personal space. :)
Where is TST?
Tsim Sha Tsui, across the water from Kowloon. The restaurant is in the building right next to the Intercontinental Grand Stanford (to the right, if you're facing the hotel). :)

Oops and an 8 day cruise down the Yangtse River to see 3 gorge damn
Gonna book a flight to HK and hit all those joints, Mark. Especially the dim sum and curry-noodle place.
I rather go to NK
N. Korea? Really? For a little one-on-one with Kim Jong Un? If you win, you die. If you lose, you die.
IKnowYouKnow Lamestream media propaganda bs put out by a bullying imperialist toxic country.
Take it somewhere else, kid.
Umm...no. If you played one-on-one basketball w/ Kim Jong Un and you won, you'd die. If you lost, you'd die too.
book a flight to HK ,same,
Yum! Brings back childhood memories in Hong Kong and the delicious food. Thanks for sharing.
Happy new Year.. Mark !
Rahul Sharma Yes!!! 🎈🎈📯📯🎊🎊🎉🎉
Hey Rachel Oakman, WTF !!???
Dee Ocky: Lol
Hong Kong food is the best. I am from Hong Kong. We live in America, and we traveled a lot, but can't find any food better than Hong Kong. That's why Hong Kong is called Food and Shopping Paradise. There is no sales tax in Hong Kong.
I love the food in hong kong
Mark all the places you and wife travel to eat the food in that country are all delicious. Draw tourist's there. I love the food they have in Hong Kong.

tai hao le
"CHECK IT OUT"
mmmmmmmmmm
He did!
9:06 that girl in blue looks like Hitomi Tanaka and the other one is from my dreams, i swear. Her reaction was so cute.. AAAHHHH!! my brain is going to explode with all that cuteness.
That restaurant gave me anxiety. Ughhhh so busy and having to fight over food. Hell to the no.
Diamond Dust same!
Hong Kong is a small tiny place, welcome to China!
Once you are used to it. it is the best
Once you dig in you don't even care anymore...it's just part of the experience here. A lot of tourists can't handle the noise and crowd though
because u use the western view to see eastern,
the same, eastern people also feel strange about some western behavior,
What a good life, making a living eating good foods & traveling
The atmosphere in the dim sum restaurant is like the fittest survives. I can understand if food scarcity prevails but in this world of abundance why is there such need to grab food at the expense of others. Did u you eat in places where you can breathe at the same time? Mark you're such an inspiration brother I love you
go sichuan with food ranger !!!! PLEASE
Happy new year to Ying, Mark and the new Micah Weins.
Seems Hongkong very Stressful ! I would rather visit Malaysia and get the same good food for better environment.
Yes, on a recent visit to HK, I thought dim sum in Malaysia is so much better, more variety, more space and style, and still very affordable. The famous HK dim sum chain had to fold up in Malaysia as it couldn't compete!
@@rara-yp5pq I AGREED WITH YOU FROM HK
I miss HK and love HK food. Came back here to watch it again! I hope Mark will go back to HK again and make another video
