@mark wiens The rice with the barberries is called zereshk polo. It is a Persian dish that can also be served with lamb stew. The reason why the polo (rice) is sprinkled with yellow/gold is because some of the polo is mixed with saffron, giving the whole dish the perfume aroma you taste and smell. The barberries or zereshk tends to taste more tart than sour (although I do understand that everyone's pallet is different). I loved this dish when my father use to make it. So delicious. Thank you for trying it. I hope you enjoyed it. It truly is a delicious and delicate plate.

We have many Indian restaurants here from different parts of India and they are always very, very busy, we love Indian food here, yum yum. I love to eat food from many different countries and love them too. Even food of one Indian state can't be made with same authentic taste in other state. They called it difference of water or something like that. I wonder how they manage to give Indian taste in USA. In my visits to USA, I carved for Indian food and whatever I got, I appreciated with all my goodness!

My childhood was spent at fort. It was a bit exciting to see him visiting and walking by places there which I always took for granted. So satisfying when he enjoyed things like Pani Puri and bademiyas rolls n seekhs and brittania dhansak salliboti.

If not him, his son should be there at the main billing counter. A lot has been passed down for sure. Do visit

You should try beyond that because each state is like a country on its own in terms of food, language, culture, festival and traditions. Being an Indian myself I'm yet to try all the amazing food of all 29 states. There's just so much variety.
