On Day 36 of our Round The World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, it was a rainy day in Hong Kong. We started off with some local dim sum, then had incredible roast goose and finished the night with claypot rice.
1:03 Breakfast dim sum at Sam Hui Yat - Thanks to www.foodiehub.tv/, for recommending this restaurant to me. Sam Hui Yat is a Hong Kong neighborhood dim sum restaurant that’s nothing fancy at all, but serves just good tasting, everyday dim sum and yum cha. It’s just a neighborhood hangout, and it’s the type of place I absolutely love. We had a mix of different dim sum, all of which sit at the front of the restaurant slowly steaming and keeping hot until they are ordered and eaten. Everything was good but the lo mai gai, glutinous rice steamed in a lotus leaf was one of my personal favorites. Total price - 102 HKD ($13.15)
7:32 Yung Kee Roast Goose - For lunch we headed to the legendary Yung Kee restaurant in Hong Kong, known for serving some of the best roast goose in all of Hong Kong. There are a lot of stories and drama that surrounds Yung Kee, that I don’t even begin to know all about. But anyway, the restaurant is overall very nice, like a pretty fancy Chinese Cantonese restaurant. The roast goose was absolutely out of this world, with skin that was so crispy and juicy, and a nice blend of salty and sweet in the sauce. Yung Kee is an amazing restaurant in Hong Kong for fantastic roast duck. The chicken and the other dishes we tried were also excellent. Total price - 654.50 HKD ($84.33)
17:29 Four Seasons Claypot Rice (Yau Ma Tei) - To be honest, my wife Ying and I were pretty tired and exhausted from the day, but we decided to head over to Yau Ma Tei for a quick local Hong Kong dinner and to walk around the Temple Street Night Market. Since we were both quite full from lunch, we only ordered a couple dishes including a claypot rice with chicken and mushrooms, and a plate of morning glory with fermented bean sauce on the top. It was a great dinner on this Hong Kong food drink. Total price - 71 HKD ($9.15)
23:12 Temple Street Night Market - Temple Street Night Market is one of the old Hong Kong night markets. There’s not a lot to see or do, but it’s a nice place to browse around at night.
Day 35 in Hong Kong was a wonderful day of delicious Hong Kong food and attraction!

Hello! I am a Hongkonger. Actually, Mark ate the claypot rice in wrong way. When the claypot rice coming, Hongkonger just open a little cover and immediately add the soysause around the claypot rice. When you guys add the soysause already, you should cover the claypot rice right now. It is because it can use the heat to mix the soysause and rice together. If you guys like egg, i recommend you add the uncooked egg into the rice. It will be perfect.
I'm surprised his server didn't tell him that.
Uncooked 🥚!!??🤢🤮
Mark, as food reviewer you are among the elite. You make me fell that I'm there with you and enjoying the food like you are.
It does have a kind of a dirt flavor to it but it's very earthy - Mark Weins 2016
I call it-pleasant shading! LOL Mark unabashed and unknowingly throws awesome shade!
eddie huang lol
This video was actually shot in 2016 not 2017
Jaffar Tube fixed it
+eddie huang you are so easily offended.. that dirt flavor is not intended as negative comment for the tea .. except the dirt itself..
You are the reason why I stick to youtube everyday.Your humor and your signature move after tasting the food is worth watching 😁
They should give Mark his own show on the Travel Channel.
Seriously.
Love, love, LOVE your videos!
Maxon Cox yup
Rolman80 80 TV and landline home phones will soon become obsolete. You can watch everything on RUclips on your smartphone.
I second that

I like the way he never stops smiling
Such positivity.. sometimes I just watch the videos for the good feeling of it ❤️
Whoah, full lean on that first goose bite! LOL You know a couple of months ago when I saw one of your videos for the first time, I swear 30 seconds in I said to myself, this guy is genuinely a good person. Someone that could be friends with anyone. And I have not been disappointed. All your videos are awesome. Your family is beautiful. If all your shows were put into a large pack of DVD's I would be first in line to buy them. It doesn't get any better than this. Thanks for taking the time to share all of this with most of us who will more than likely never get to travel to these great places. But one thing is for sure, you really enjoy what you are doing. My wife and I love it! Thanks Mark.
Mark, your upbeat and positive attitude and seemingly very kind disposition warms my Southern Soul. I don't know you, Mr Wiens-but I do know that you are awesome and I'm sure Ms Ying is as well. Love your vlogs/blog.
Madi Silver ii
this guy ,Trevor James from food rangers and Lucas from eater are my favorite food reviewers.

royalbengal101 no, I haven't but I'll check it out.
I agree, I stumbled upon The Food Ranger in my recommended feed about a month ago, love his videos. The fact that he speaks their language I find amazing. Just like Mark with Thai
Hiroi Sekai lol I just an episode of food rangers and he's good, thanks.
Thank you, Trevor is an awesome guy!
Mark Wiens does a terrific travel video and always samples the delicious looking foods. In Hong Kong, the variety and flavors of Chinese food are simply amazing. You can walk into almost any sidewalk diner and get a great meal. Well done, Mark. Please do more food videos from Hong Kong and the rest of China. Bravo.
I may be wrong but I don't think that I've ever seen that expression of food adoration on you as I did with your first bite of goose
Candy Santillo Totally agreed with you...that is his first time reaction
13:15 this is the real love
a genuine food lover and traveller....not complain about the taste because it's by the culture...a food lover won't tell how the food should taste/flavour or how it should look like, they will tell you how it taste/look like...love your vlog
I love thousand year old egg. Absolutely delicious when combined with jok (chinese porridge). The creaminess and potent taste of the yolk combined the gelatinous egg "whites" (its black but i dont know what else to call it)
I like the expression the way mark breef about the ghost chunk with plum ghee which is spread evenly all over, The facial expression is so good as if he is born in food heaven, wow!!!!!!
Everytime Mark says "Im just gonna have a little bit of everything" then suddenly everything falls off. Totally love your vids Mark! Keep it up!
keep up the good work Mark its so nice to know that there are people like you shares a lot of good and very informative...well done more power.
Mark, your enthusiasm, the information and of course the cuisine tips are as enjoyable as they are useful. I can almost smell and taste what you film when you describe in detail the ingredients and the wave of tastebud awakenings. Thank you.
Mark weins number 0ne food blogger 💯🖒🖒🖒🖒
LOL
i nope, one of the top 10 which included Luke Martin, the food ranger, simply dumpling, buzzfeedvideo and miss nina.

Every time i am watching this video...i want to run back to Hongkong!!! We enjoyed HK foods last July we were there! And promise to keep coming hack at least once every year:)!! My grandson loves not only the food but the whole HK!
The Wiens lean was strong with the bite of that Goose!
Yes indeed. That goose reminds me of crispy smoked tea duck
@@keeshabrown7353 ×w we w W
Every time I watched your show I end up craving for food. I'm really appreciative and enjoy your videos. Good work Mark.
that first bite of goose looked a little transcendental. wasn't sure at all if Mark would come back for the rest of the meal!
Your comment Mark is absolutely..........INSANE. I'm just salivating watching that video
The pride u have for all the amazing food! ✔ I really enjoy watching you! thank u💛💙💜
I'm Chinese from Canada, living in northern China. This video is making me lust for food I miss like dim sum, clay pot rice, and soy sauce chicken that doesn't exist here but I can get at home. You're killing me with food! You should be given your own TV show...Seriously!!
Beloved son your dad and mum must be very proud of you kind gentle and handsome boy I love you too so very proud of you I wish you were my son have a great day with your family bye dear
Mark you have to do a collaboration with Mike Chen from strictly dumpling!! You guys literally have the same taste in food and even go to the same restaurants haha
Diyan Fonseka OMG YASSSSSSSS I LOVE THEM BOTH
Exactly. I like Mike Chen.
Don't like Mike Chen, Mark is much more sincere and humble, although he has the same same face impression when he has nice food.
Steffie Leung Same same, but different
noo...He needs to do a collab with the food ranger...Trevor...!!!
Mark's face at 13:27 is absolutely priceless...
Dear Mark, I love watching your videos, besides the deli food it’s a fascinating travelogue. My only reservation is your eating style. I spent all the time my son was growing up on eating small portions into his mouth. I cring when you
Mark like you RUclips a lot. Now My fiancé is Chinese and one of her friend took my fiancé to Bangkok and she like it. But the went with a tour guide and I think she didn't like that part. But now my fiancé and I are going to Phuket Thailand in July. Don't know the days that we will be there but I can let you know. Keep your stomach full and a smile on your face. My God Bless your Family.
Mark still recording through hard time (try to open the umberella when hanging the camera) for us 😁 just don't skip the ads
and happy new year!
"there's actually a lot to eat, on these chicken feet." All with that happy go-lucky smile. Love it🙏🏽❤️
Can you please upload videos everyday? If it's possible I love to watch them :)
I love what I call your "Singing Ship" as you slowly roll over as if you are giving your life to the ocean of flavor, to be enveloped by it's tastes and smells, lost to the depths like a lone sailor. x
I love your channel !! you are the best !!! greetings from Odessa, Ukraine
That dip with the Soya Chicken, is a combination of Green Onion (also known as spring onion), garlic, ginger, salt and sesame oil. It's usually served with Hainaise chicken. It's my favorite dipping sauce of all time. I add it to anything and everything when I can get my hands on it!
i'm drooling for that chicken n goose👍
Wow! This guy's positive attitude alone sold me from the beginning. His smile seems to stem from endless Hawaii summer sunrises. Add to that the HQ food closeups and the simple, but well-articulated descriptions of the food and you have something irresistible. I'm an instant fan and now I made the first vow of the year - taste Dim Sum! :) But what to do until I have a chance to get some? I'm trapped in bed with a nasty flu and all I got in the fridge is leftover pasta from yesterday! :/
Mark, with every bite you bend. I've ultimately understood that the lower you bend the tastier the food. ' BENDING 'is like a taste indicator. Wow. Love it.
mark never disappoints us
mark's signature reaction after the first bite is priceless ...
Food in Hong Kong are insanely good! I hope I have the chance to go again and eat lots of yummy food!
Love the way he tilts the head every time he tastes something awesome...Because he has not ever had negative reviews for any kind of food so far (probably to keep sponsors happy), I think there a few body codes that convey what he feels about a particular dish..for instance when he says wow it usually means he liked the food, but did not really like it. Similarly tilting the head means the food was awesome!
Am early to see this, which is lucky. But it is 11:35pm, so watching this before bed is just going to make me hungry! Might have to save it and watch tomorrow. Something to look forward to. So thanks. 😃
What can I say Mark. Your the very best when emphasizing the food quality, texture and taste of the worlds food... Fantastic my friend!
You know the food is good when Mark has a mini seizure!! loving all these videos! Never hungry when i start watching them
ruclips.net/video/B0eRguu7y2Y/видео.html
It"s good to see your smiling face on RUclips. Thank you for your wonderful videos. All the best to your lovely family. Rachal Australia.
- LOL your videos always hit right when I am starving!
Your face when eating that egg is probably the least excited I've ever seen you. Lol
you make me feel very proud of chinese food....thank you
Def Duck lag! And the euphoric lean is back!!! Yes!!! God bless you and family Mark... awesome as always.
4:30 for local Hong Kong, we eat the meat ball with the Worcestershire sauce, give it a try next time!
Yeah I was also a bit anxious when I saw him dip into the chilli sauce XD
When Im feeling down, all I need is watch all Mark Wien's videos. Thank you, Mark!
His facial expressions just cracksme up
When Mark smile, close his eyes, and Lean to the right. You know that dish is wicked good lol.
Mark is like the kind of sibling you would give all the food you dont like to and he would eat it just to help you out.
16:57 You kill me with your humor Mark.
IMO, HOng Kong maybe the pinnacle of this trip alongwith Istanbul & Oman.
YOU ARE THE BEST MARK WIENS
you are always so happy and positive about every taste - everything - even the rain. It is refreshing and wonderful. You make me want to keep on watching - and then go to your next video to see more.
I love ur bloopers and very much enjoy ur channel...
you absolutely a star in your own media blog. You deserve to have a show of your own. Attention Cbs, Gma etc, give this guy a show and I bet you millions of people are gonna watch it. It could be titled Mark my word, this food is good
It's beef (not pork) balls at 4:53 and you're supposed to eat it with worcestershire sauce. great video nonethless!
HK best food in the world ! nothing can match Cantonese food :)
4:30 Mark its beef ball.... people may get scared if they see pink pork meat 4:54.... also this one usually eat with Worcestershire sauce

The amazing way the food is cooked. It takes time no fast food. I love these video. The chicken feet can be pickles. Love them.
Sam Hui Yat is the bomb mate! Welcome to Hong Kong Mark!
WOOO HOO!! we have uncle Bob himself here.
Hi Uncle Bob :D

absolutely love your video mark, don't ever stop making them.
Out of all his videos, this is the #1 head tilt when he bit into that goose.
Mark " Look at these big, wrinkly feet. " Lmfao!! I'm dead asf
Mark, enjoyed the video as usual. The place you ate at Temple St Night Market, my wife and I ate there on our first trip to HK in 2015. It had really good clay pot rice - she was the only European in the restaurant. Delicious meal and loved the experience. Thanks so much for reminding us - aiming to go back on our next HK trip in 2019 when we're there for the HK Festivalito Tango Festival.
"those inside just oozing already...how sticky and hot and wonderful that is." Good thing my mum didn't hear that or else she's gonna ban my internet.
Delson Chong lol
Lmao
Al Cipta of course
Just simple like the fact u being a happy person.chill
Im commenting because I liked this video.
"It's really quite mild,....oh, maybe not." LOL My Dad was in the Philippines at Subic Bay when he was in the Navy. One day, this young boy kept badgering my Dad to buy a 'Balute' egg from him. Finally my father agreed to buy, but only if the boy would eat the egg! He did.
The way he says Ha Gao / Siu Mai is *hilarious*
bkcalvine his literally pronouncing Cantonese food names with a Thai accent.
I know lol I wish he'd just say them with an American accent
HA GAUUUUUUU It's now the only reason I watch the video now.
You are the reason why I love to eat thank you for shearing with all the people around the world
Mark your videos amazing !! Ly
Mark, Thanks for all of your experience being shared

Dim Sum the ultimate Chinese Comfort Food !
Mark, I am your big fan. Because I am a foodie too, I want to try the exotic food all over the world one day. Thanks for your videos to let me know the famous HongKong dishes, like dim sum, roost goose and clay pot rice.
the lean was strong in this one! :)
hahah
People in HK. Eat out. With ffamily. Fffrom morning till dinner all are busy and they find it economical and F practical. They earn more with the timer they save when they o not cook
ytube777 Bob. V
I like this lean index
ytube777 the lean and when he had the goose, he eyes closed for quite a while. The longer they are closed, the more he enjoys it.
ดูแล้วหิวมาก
You had some good eats today Mark!
Mark is one courageous guy. He enters in just about any place anywhere, even greasy bars with grumpy owners 😂😂
