This build literally kept me playing guardian. Was getting bored and getting one shot. As a new player was frustrated and thinking of switching classes. Keep up the great work.
Respecced my Guardian into this Firebrand build today. I've been playing power DH for ages so it was refreshing to try a power FB build. Sticking with it as enjoying it alot!
Tip for preparing mantras (unless right before engagement): start by casting Mantra of Potence, activate it once and you have enough quickness to prepare next two twice as fast. Unless that 12 sec recharge (about 5-8 seconds after you're done preparing other mantras) makes you stand and wait before combat, you will be able to mount up those 2-3 seconds faster.

I think you are missing the point... Open world builds aren't about optimization. They are about finding your own sweet spot.
If you just want to bash a golem that doesn't fight back, though, user full zerkers!

Thank you for this build. I really like how you explain it and we see it in action. Even if it takes 1h, now I really know how to use it. (I used to use FB as a condi, but I felt more like an ele than a guardian and I didn't like it).

LOVED this W.P Now selfishly I hope you do Necro and Thief soon :) but I have treasures this series and will be running these variants for all the open world content on all the 6 or 7 characters i remake when back in summer of 2020. Just amazing stuff here and fun to watch as well :).

Analysis time! Hodge podge indeed WP, there's Zerk's armour, Marauder's trinkets, Diviner's Axe but Zerk's Shield, Scepter, and Focus. Notably, this just BARELY overcaps his crit chance on the Scepter set(56.24%, so 1.24% over cap), so Diviner's Scepter would actually be marginally better. As mentioned, Fireworks runes for the Fury (and bonus movement speed), there's a Sigil of Blood on his Axe, can't see his Shield Sigil but again Accuracy can be ruled OUT, especially since we don't need it with all the trait boosts to crit chance (and no stacking sigil like Bloodlust this time either). Agony infusions so no stats there this time, no food or utility boost shown.
Can't wait for the next one! Necro or Thief next maybe? ;)
I do so love your analysis to help us put it all together! So are you saying Diviner's Axe/Zerk Shield and Diviner's Scepter/Zerk Focus? Wish I could sort this stuff out myself but I'm getting old and would fall into a nap, haha. Terrible!!

@@TropicsDweller As one handed weapons, they both have the same number of stats. So as long as EITHER the Scepter or Focus is Diviner's the result is the same. LIkewise for the Axe/Shield set. As long as one of them is Diviner's, you're good!

I've been running a build that is similar, but am going to make changes based on your suggestions. Looks great.
Loremaster actually reduces the cooldown of the skills IN the tome (Chapters 1-5) and not the cooldown of the tome itself. still an incredibly powerful trait just for the continued passive buildup alone.
My bad, totally right and even more reason to run with it!
Been playing Guardian for quite some time now and I never noticed that Fire build up from the Justice skill.... Thanks for pointing that out! ^^;;

Hey, I really like these videos, please keep em coming. I was curious about wether there is a website or another way that could show the build in static format, like snowcrows has a bit where they show you trait lines and gear and such, just so we can see them without having to open the video and pausing at certain moments. Thanks for the videos.
Been running a similar build since pof came out and the main thing that i like about it is the sustain of the f2 book and the loads of breakbar damage because most people glass cannon with no cc and causes tougher fights to fail. I can at least make up the lack of it by a little more

Guardian is my main and I run something similar in open world and story, but I think you’ve convinced me I might be overvaluing quickness and might gain a lot from some other trait and skill choices. Can’t wait to give it a try!
Ohhhh, finally. The Best Builds continues. I really thought he will delay this segments due to bound by blood thingy. Thanks to this and more power to you.
Also, the Axe 3, use it to sweep people. The animation faces wherever you are facing, so you can do a “sweep” instead of just a pull. So long as the ethereal axe does damage to some people, it will pull them. It’s hard at first, but after a while, it will be second nature.
If you have gear with concentration, Healers Retribution from Radiance and Weighty Terms from Firebrand, you will basically have permanent retaliation uptime if you use the healing mantra.
The retaliation can be around 10 seconds and the heal mantra has 9.5 second cooldown per charge.
Honestly feels like a lot of the difficult engage you make ( like the fire djinns ), you'd do much better by remembering to go into tome 3 to drop skill 4 and 5 and then continue the usual stuff.
I noticed my build and I had a super similar build, as for weapon choices I had Axe/Focus & Greatsword and some diffrent traits on the same lines

I have ALWAYS preferred firebrand in basically all content. DH, even now, just feels like it underperforms all the time. Not surprised you chose FB over DH.
Also, I made a somewhat similar build (I've edited the traits because, ultimately, yours is a better build), but since I was already running a retal build, I have marauders trinkets and diviner's armor, since both are easy to craft as exotics, and then went with valkyre weapons since I'm fine with building with the 10% crit chance from burn in mind, especially since I switched from GS to Axe/Shield. That puts me at 40% base crit chance, or 95% crit chance with all the trait modifiers and fury (already running firework runes lol). Honestly, even 85% is fine with me for open world content.
4:44 I love this area. I always take my builds there to see how well they do. So far I have a Scrapper and Scourge build that can solo both events. (edit Ooh and a Mirage build)

Hi WP, thanks for these videos and the build explanations, really interesting stuff that's encouraging me to revisit a lot of my longterm builds. Would Celerity be a good sigil to slot for some additional quickness - given the disables on the axe and F1? Particularly if you weren't going to take Liberator's Vow or Stalwart Speed. Or would you go for a damage sigil in addition to the Sigil of Blood you have on your other weapon?
Celerity is definitely cool on this one for sure

As a very casual player who's been out of the game for a few years, I find these videos very insightful. Personally, I'm looking forward to the Revenant vid.
Just the Meta Diviner Alacrity Renegade works damn well for open world (with some Trait swaps). Icerazor's Ire is nice to spam, esp with alac and you can easily give yourself 25 might via Traits and the Order.
FB is the best and all-rounder open world class I've ever played. Lots of stun-break, block, heal, quickness, cc skills. I'm using Grieving's armour and weapons. My trinkets are diviner's and berserker's. It's a very good power-condi hybrid class. If I want to go power, I'll switch to power-based traits. If I want to go condi, I'll switch to condi-based trait. In meta events, I can spam quickness for people around me.
The build looks fun. Am confused as to what armor you are wearing is it, full berserker? Also, your weapons what are you running on them viper, marshals, and what sigils?
is this build also viable to do some solo dungeons? considering how you managed the champion in the preview, it does seem to be possible.
What's healing WP as he goes down? It's before he pops his downed skill symbol of judgement (skill 3)

Does this also apply to someone playing guardian BEFORE elite specialisation? Sorry I'm like 5 days old and got the expacs and was just looking to understand rotations etc. I see the specialisations there are for Guardian so just asking for while I level

Hey as a new player, what behaves better in open world ? Power FB or condi? Power looks more versatile since you can change to DH using the same gear while condi FB you are stuck with ? Is condi FB more effective in open world situations? Awesome work on these builds !

This is the first Profession I have been able to play well! I am playing my main of sword/focus,taking advantage tele to target with blind and burn upon attack. I am not yet to level 80, we shall see how it plays at level 80 :)

Coming in several months after the fact, you should be taking that Sword of Justice as you’re leveling to 80 too. It’s god mode at every stage of the game. If you stack power, get that sword.
Don't forget what's even worse about casting mantras, if you briefly go underwater they reset!
If you have the mantra located in the exact same slot on both your land and underwater skill bar you actually won't. I have forgotten to sync them a few times when I have altered my layout and, despite having the same exact same mantras but flipped, they then needed to be recast. When I moved them back in sync with each other I no longer had an issue.

Did I miss something or he didn't go over amour, sigils and runes? If not 45:50 might help.

I believe it's the Crystal Champion mastery under POF that you can get access after purchasing Living World 4. Please correct me if i'm wrong
I’m not seeing weapon specs & sigils as well. Thinking all power, precision, ferocity? (From the armor specs we see for a few seconds.)

Could you do a dragonhunter open world build for those who prefer it?
I switched from FB back to DH long time ago because of this mantra rechanel each time when i switching maps or jumping into instances.. Around 10 sek each time just to be ready to fight...
You can take Feel my Wrath and GS as elite and weapons instead. You lose some Utility but get much higher burst and quickness uptime (sustained DPS), and you can just Quickness shout upon loading into a map and then charge only 2 Mantras while affected by quickness, which goes pretty quick and makes it a lot more bearable. Retal uptime is still fine generally, but you obv. lose the stunbreaks from Elite Mantra as well as extra CC and Prot/Aegis from Shield, but that's not too bad.

Is this build still relevant? i took a long break from the game and guardian was my main. I picked Firebrand and have done some of the recommended builds (no ascended or leggos yet) but having survivability issues. I know it is something just trying to figure it out.

Could you use something like this in wvw
If you don't need hard cc, the 3 skill on scepter goes hand in hand with the symbol. If I'm solo in open world then my favorite rotation is symbol, 3 skill on the first enemy that steps in the symbol, purging flames, then switch to melee and unload. It's fun to pull off and it looks cool but it's completely useless in high level content

For the necromancer please play a core minionmancer. The masses need to know it's greatness.

@@bilaliqbal4012 I honestly prefer scourge minionmancer more for open world. But reaper does do more damage.
What sigils are on the weapons?
