I'm a combination pencil, painter, and digital. Typically, I find it hard to just begin something on the computer from scratch, so I draw it out on printer paper first, then use the drawing as a base or lineart for the finished product (scanning it onto the computer) - painting out the entire drawing only on rare occasions. Plus, it gives a great feeling of accomplishment to have something in the physical world to represent your work. I enjoy working with charcoal and watercolors on occasion, but the marriage of pencil drawing and digital painting is the main method I use in creating my art. I could definitely identify with these different personalities - especially with the utilitarian hair - though caffeine repels me. Oh... But I do have a crap sleep schedule, though. Also, I need to get me some smudge-resistant gloves; I had no idea such a thing exists before now.
Same lol
Im pencil ( both colour and normal) and digital
I'm pencil and digital. I first draw the piece on paper then I draw the same piece on my laptop. I don't do scanning, and my physical is much more messier than my digital. I also do mixing and I love color theory. Most of my sketches start with simple shapes and then I add detail. My digital art is based of layers and shapes, and I always mix colors to make things look nicer. Oh, and I hate caffeine.
same!!
One *big* advantage when drawing digitally rather than on a paper or canvas, is that you can zoom in and out.
Or you can just move you face closer

recommendation for fellow painters: keep your paint water in a mason jar with a lid on between washing your brushes! you don’t have to worry about paint water spilling, your pets can’t get into it, and you’re less likely to try to drink it if you have to take the extra action of taking off the lid. has def helped me out lol!
If I start painting, then I'll need more than a lid to stop me, I might literally take it and the brushes out to drink it and still not notice
I’ve never taken a sip of my paint water… (Maybe that’s because I like cutesy mugs for my tea and I use grunge paper cups for my paint water…)
THANK YOU (also can anyone relate to your paint water just smelling SO BAD after a while
thank you! i should start doing that!
WHEN i decide to paint i put it in a plastic cup, like a really flimsy solo cup, and drink out of a mug. I place them on opposing sides of my desk, with my paints next to my paint cup. If i go to get a drink and its the paint water the cup will squish a bit so i know its not my drink.

I have fallen in love with the painter aesthetic
Sadly, the reality (at least with oil painting) is that you never look good while painting because all you dare to wear is something that either has paint on it already, or you don’t mind getting destroyed. And if you do realism you don’t even get the cute paint-splatter look, just a brownish-green mass of chaos down the front of your apron...
As a person who loves painting galaxies and gets paint everywhere, I constantly look like a emo art kid witch is not what im going for lol

@@sssunnyd7874 it’s one thing if you do watercolor or gouache, and some temperas are actually edible, but another entirely if it’s acrylics, or even worse, oils... At this point I refuse to buy scentless turpentine because it’s too easy to mistake for water 😂
But if I think about it I probably ingested some oils and acrylics, and *definitely* a lot of watercolors, and I’m still alive...
