As always a good topic and thanks for your opinion on this subject. I am a child of the cold war. My father fought in World War Two, Korea and Viet Nam. He was forced to retire after almost 30 years in the military, first in the Army during WW2 and Korea. Then in the Air Force as Security Patrol for Strategic Air Command guarding Nuke bombs on air bases. I am well aware of the doctrine we were taught about the Soviets. But I also am a huge history buff and have thoroughly researched the contributions of the Russian People during the Great Patriotic War. It was the Russian People despite Stalin and the Communists that defeated the Nazi's. It was not communism, but the great heart and determination of the people. No amount of credit is enough to thank the sacrifices the Russian People suffered to win World War Two.
Thanks for sharing this topic, more people need to separate the people from the governments.
    Chris

As a North American I was brainwashed from birth to live in fear of the USSR. As a young adult I decided to travel to USSR and see for myself what the people thought. Russians - I realized - had no intention of going to war with us or even dislike us. From that day I decided I would no longer let any anti-russian propaganda have influence on me. I have returned to Russia many times, I love Russia and do not fear that country and the people. President Putin is not a war monger. 💘💝💖❤‍🩹

Definitely worth reading the verse "The Wolf and the Lamb", it's all in it.
The West considers itself a wolf with the right to have the weak.
The problem is that in his hunger he confused a lamb with a bear.
And definitely do not anger the phlegmatic bear, because although he eats mainly plant food and saves energy, he has a habit of eating those who interfere with him alive.

I grew up during the Cold War. I lived in Mongolia for a couple years in the early 90's. I was able to intermingle and spend time with Russians living in Mongolia. It changed my perspective. I joined the Army and retired in 2012. I have held, since my eyes were opened in Mongolia, the idea that since the fall of the Soviet Union, the US and Russia should be fast friends! We are so much more alike than we are different. Even further, I fought in Iraq for the US. I am embarrassed by our country, and have observed that The Russian Federation has been on the "Right side of history" a lot more than the US lately.
Although the Soviet Union wasn't a very good ideological experiment, that cost millions of lives - especially Russian, the current Russia is a lovely and great country!

You are very naive. Russia and US as countries could never 'be friends'. It isn't a matter of ideology, US won't 'love' my country in any form - Russian Empire, Soviet Union or Russian Federation. Cause we have power and resources. And that's what they want - US and all the Collective West. Power and resources. World politics works that way, simple and brut.
And please, stop this nonsense about USSR 'costing millions of lifes'. You're just repeating western propaganda that demonised 'evil communists and their regime'. You know what broke millions of lifes? The fall of Soviet Union. That was organised with the help of CIA.

      1. Back then when the bolcheviks took over the russian empire and turn it into the U.S.S.R, several Russians imigrated to Mexico.
      2. Mexico gave political asylum to former bolchevik leader Trosky.
      3. Back when the USSR was suffering a famine. The US goverment told many others to not help the USSR, yet the mexican goverment politely told them to mind their own buissness and sended help to the soviets.
      4. Mexico managed to get the both the US and the USSR as allies when Mexico and Guatemala almost went to war (No need to say why guatemala bailed out)

There was no such organizatiron as "Eastern Block", it's a term used widely by the Western propaganda. There is NATO (since 1949) and was the Warszaw Pact (1955), which was created as a response to NATO. I am a Soviet, was raised in the USSR, and I am very grateful to my country for many-many things, so I never use words Soviet, Socialism or Communism with any negative connotations. And when people say "we are not against russians, we are against communism", it sounds ridiculous, because those people cannot even imagine, how deep their ignorance is, they simply have no idea what they are talking about.

I prefer to connect Russia with Russia before 1917 - the USSR after the WW2 was worst than Russian Empire because of the Marxist lies empowered the few over masses. Some may say is the same in Empires, but the difference is in the details: one thing are people with education and tradition empowered and another thing is to empower people with very little education and a lot of frustration due to this. Crimea changed hands due to political ambitions of a politruc - this would have never happen in Russian Empire.

I remember as an elementary school aged child in the 1970's learning about how the German government propagandized their citizens and school children. "How terrible" I thought. Then I wondered if the same thing was happening here in the U.S? That question remained in my mind for many years, but I had no way to solve that question until decades later when the Internet exploded in growth.
In the early '80's, I joined the Army based in part by the propaganda I was told about the founding fathers and early American history. I was stationed in West Germany for 18 months and 14 months in South Korea during the cold war. I left the military just barely before Gulf War 1. The Berlin Wall was already down.
A few years later the government passed an unconstitutional law, and I was utterly shocked that there was no public uprising! This meant that we did not have a CONstitutional government any more. Thus another red flag popped up in my mind. In 1998 I finally got a computer and Internet, and I spent many, many days researching what the hell happened to our CONstitutional government? Long story short: It never existed in reality!!! Even the first 3 presidents and the congresses all violated it and the Bill of Rights without facing any real consequences.
Since leaving the Army, I have had a curiosity about Russia and the Russian people. I well remember the West's promising Russia to not expand NATO one square inch toward Russia, and I was angry at my own government every time they broke their promise! I also was aware of the overthrow of the elected president in Ukraine in 2014.
I knew that the MSM and my government were lying to us the second they claimed Russia's invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked! I knew better, and I told many other people about the lies!
I wish that the U.S. government would stop trying to become THE world government! I wish for peace for all sides! There are millions of us common citizens here in the U.S. that wish for peace and friendship with the Russians! Sadly, our evil government is completely out of control! Perhaps some day I will have a chance to visit Russia.

If you really look into it, the fear of Russia predated the Soviet Union. Western Europe always looked down on Russians and saw them as semi-savage Easterners that had to be prevented from invading the West. The advent of the Soviet Union only intensified what was already there.

The oldest and truest conflict in Europe is Romans versus Barbarians. Manifests in many maps, with the division between the eastern empire and Western Empire, the lines between the Slavic languages and the Romance languages, the line between the orthodox and the Catholic, the line between the communist and capitalist, and the line between Cyrillic and Latin scripts.
The conflict dates back to the Roman republic, where the peoples of the north and east were considered barbarian and acceptable to plunder and slave. Our word Slav even comes from slave, because so many were used as slaves.
The people of Germany became federated Romwn allies, and eventually were considered part of civilization, and the same was eventually done to the Polish people, mostly because they took the Catholic faith and even more importantly, huge amounts of civilly German territory made up what we now call Poland.
Which is why Ukraine is so important; it’s called the edge, land originally not from the perspective of the Russians, but from the perspective of the Germans, who saw the even further Slavs past the Poles as some kind of exotic end of the world barbarians. And so the border between real proper Roman Europe, and barbarian slaveable Slav Europe hasn’t really changed in 1600 years.

Самое смешное, что русские не испытывают ненависти к немцам, которые принесли много горя в каждую семью. К французам хорошо относимся. К американцам тоже хорошо относимся. Daniel, thank you for your participation in such a great topic. It was very important to notice all the things that you said. The ending was flawless!
I am 22 years old. My father is 76 years old and he is a true soviet man who served his military service in German Democratic Republic (the Soviet one), he was born in 1948 so he withessed and lived through the whole Cold War. And he NEVER taught me to hate United States or American People.
I've been to US when I was 17 and many people were interested and asked a lot of questions when they found out that I was from Russia. There was no hate at all. Still, some guys thought we are spies, some guys thought we are still USSR and asked about "Iron Curtain" and how we're gonna deal with it. It was hilarous though.
You, americans, are amazing, friendly and open-minded nation. You guys really enjoy your lives and love your motherland. For your information, it's really hard to visit US for Russian average person since it is expensive and requiers you to be a perfect candidate for a Visa. I'm so grateful that I had that chance to enjoy myexperience in United States.
Me and my generation - we were never raised to hate US. Our parents, who were soviet people, never even tried to turn us against Americans. We were raised with dreams to visit such an amazing country.
I believe that in future our people will be able to build strong and friendly relation between Russia and US. Thank you again, Daniel, for uniting hearts of two great nations

I was born in 1952. At that time, Russia was the primary boogeyman. We were taught to fear them because their aim was world domination via relentless incursions into the "free world." Out of that fear came the cold war, and the formation of NATO. Today, NATO has followed the exact same game plan that I was taught to fear against Russia. That is why Mr. Putin, an unapologetic nationalist who loves Russia and feels a duty to defend HIS country, took action when NATO attempted to surround Russia. This is nothing to be feared, it is to be admired.

I agree with you on a lot of this. I’m American, and I have a very close Russian friend. But here’s a few things: everytime the US is at odds with another country, Russia is quick to support that other country. After the recent attack in Moscow, Putin was fast to blame the US for being involved. Even though a radical Islamist group claimed responsibility and even said why they did it. The comment sections were full of nasty comments about the US. Lots of hate there. So it IS a two way street. I honestly believe this Cold War era shit needs to be buried and we should be friendly countries. But it’s not going to happen, I think.

Good video. If more everyday Russian and American people could get to know each other without government involvement, all would see that we have much in common. There's very little hate toward the Russian people with the US general population. I think many Americans are told by various media sources that the Ukraine War is a return to the expansive ways of the USSR.
I hope the current conflict ends soon. Too much destruction and too many lives lost on both sides. All the mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters grieving over lost family members in both Russia and Ukraine. No one wins in a proxy war.

Oof! So much to unpack. I was born in 1962. My dad (1931-2014) was drafted for the Korean war. His grandmother told him, _"This isn't WW2 and we don't have any business there."_ She wanted him to flee to Spain (no extradition treaty with USA). The general consensus among American people at that time was _"Where is Korea?"_ His mother said if he did that he'd ruin his life, so he went and ended up finally retiring after the 1st Gulf War, serving beyond normal retirement age due to it. So yes, CCCP bad. Fear the godless commies, etc. But in the 1990s Russian immigrants poured into the USA. So much so I learned to speak Russian then! I worked with countless 'Ruskies' in both the '90s & 2000s. The first "Russia is bad" in the MSM was in 2008 in the Georgian war, but that was just a minor speed bump. Really, the current "Russia bad" fever began in 2012 with Crimea. Anyway, it's a damn shame.

You missed the part after the war 1945 the Americans and British were training and funding terrorists to go into the USSR to try to overthrow the government. They were involved in sabotage and assassination of our allies the USSR. Also during the war with Germany the Americans and British were aware of strategic moves taken by the Nazis and refused to provide that information to the USSR in order to cause damages to the Russian military. They didn't treat Russia as a Ally they treated it as a enemy that threatened our own existence. While Canadians were dying in Europe the Americans continued to supply the Germans with the weapons to kill Canadians French and British until 1941.

Psalmid (Laulud) 105:Jumala muistsete tegude ülistus
1 Tänage Issandat, kuulutage tema nime,
tehke teatavaks rahvaste seas tema teod!
    2 Laulge temale, mängige temale,
    kõnelge kõigist tema imedest!
    3 Kiidelge tema pühast nimest,
rõõmutsegu nende süda, kes otsivad Issandat!
4 Nõudke Issandat ja tema võimsust,
    otsige alati tema palet!
    5 Meenutage tema tehtud imetegusid,
tema imetähti ja tema huulte kohtuotsuseid,
6 te Aabrahami, tema sulase sugu,
    te Jaakobi, tema valitu lapsed!
7 Tema, Issand, on meie Jumal,
tema kohtuotsused on igal pool maailmas.
8 Ta peab igavesti meeles oma lepingut,
sõna, mille ta on andnud tuhandele põlvele,
9 lepingut, mille ta on sõlminud Aabrahamiga,
    ja oma vannet Iisakile.
10 Ta seadis selle Jaakobile määruseks,
    Iisraelile igaveseks lepinguks.
11 Ta ütles: „Sinule ma annan Kaananimaa,
    see on teie pärisosa!”,
    30 Nende maa kubises konnadest,
    nende kuningate kambriteski oli neid.
31 Ta käskis, ja siis tuli parme
    ja sääski kogu nende maadele.
32 Ta andis neile rahet vihma asemel
    ja saatis tuleleeke nende maale.
33 Ta lõi maha nende viinapuud ja viigipuud
ning murdis kõik puud nende maal.
34 Ta käskis, ja tuli lugematul arvul
    rohutirtse ja söödikuid,
35 ja need sõid kõik rohu nende maal
    ja neelasid nende põllu vilja.
36 Tema lõi maha ka kõik
    esmasündinud nende maal,
    kõik nende mehejõu esmikud.
37 Siis ta viis nad välja
    koos hõbeda ja kullaga,
    ega olnud ühtegi,
    kes oleks komistanud
    nende suguharude seas.
38 Egiptus rõõmustas nende ära minnes,
sest hirm nende pärast oli teda vallanud.
39 Tema laotas pilve nende katteks
    ja tule valgustama ööd.
40 Nad palusid, ja ta tõi vutte
ning söötis nende kõhud täis taeva leivaga.
    41 Ta avas kalju ja vesi jooksis;
    see jooksis jõena põuasel maal.
42 Sest tema pidas meeles oma püha sõna
    ja oma sulast Aabrahami.
43 Nõnda ta viis välja oma rahva rõõmutsemisega
    ja oma valitud hõiskamisega.
44 Ja ta andis neile paganarahvaste maad
    ning nad pärisid rahvahõimude töövaeva,
45 et nad peaksid tema määrusi
    ja hoiaksid tema Seadust.
    Halleluuja!

Actually the more they attack Putin, the more people like him. I am one of his fans, going back quite a while. By the way, I lived in Germany, not that far from Berlin when the wall was being built, in the city of Heilbronn. I never thought of "Soviet Union", only of Russia, the others were nothing more than figure heads. We could see the US army going back and forth and us Army dependants in high school had to attend what I refer to as briefing for teens in case war broke. I agree with chrisbricky7331. No greater fighters.

First of all, Russia is no longer the Soviet Union. So, we should not confuse today's Russia with the Soviet Union. I'll leave the research up to you to verify this. Second, it is the American government and the elites that dislike Russia, not the American people. We had peace with Russia with President Trump which is why the elites in America do not like him. I hope this helps in understanding the situation in Ukraine.

Americans don’t hate Russia or Russians, our politicians live in a bubble, who have a complete opposite opinion. A lot of us see a Russian country who is protecting their sovereignty and rights. I think a lot of Americans actually admire their strong leadership “not only Putin”

    • @Wild-Siberia
      @Wild-Siberia  6 месяцев назад +1

Yes but our leaders represent us (whether we chose it or not) on a global scale. This is the way our politicians ruined a lot

@@Wild-Siberia I do agree, there is a sense to that point but personally I’ve heard every American president of my time talk about peace and yet I’ve never seen it. Our political leaders out right lie to the population without consequence nor do they fear for their jobs or salaries. From my point of view how can they be a representative of a population when the message or promise was stated and ultimately abandoned even within a few years, you can see the mass of people will do anything and will pick anyone at this point who will support the good of society and peace. Our independence 248 years ago and we’ve been fighting wars or conflicts for 234 years of that, and our population is tired of it.

BTW I am Russian. When I was around 6 years old, my late mother showed me a Russian book with the white, blue, and red colors flags of Imperial Russia. My mother told me that this flag would return to Russia one day. My late mother predicted that in 1956. My mother got to see her Imperial Russian flag before my mother passed away. Every time I see the Russian flag, I think of that moment, my late mother talked to me about the Russian flag.

I just arrived in Poland and have been on the fence about going to Russia for a while now. I run a remote business and can work remotely. I met several Russians in Thailand and really want to go. Honestly I'm afraid of not knowing the language and how to get money there and my bank cards won't work. Also, so many people are telling me I'm going to be looked at as a spy or that I'm going to lose %50 of my money when transferring to Russian currency. Any advice for me? I wish I had a fellow American like you that could show me the ropes when I go. Thank you for the insightful video.

if people in the West want to understand about their reality in which they live, I have a piece of advice. read the book if you haven't read it. and if you have read it, read it again, but with a new understanding that this book describes your future, and not totalitarianism and the dictatorship of socialism (as your propaganda told you). "1984" and "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. Also a good movie showing your reality has been released recently. it is marked as a "satire black comedy". I didn't see anything funny in it. It's more of a documentary horror - drama. "don't look up"

I have never hated Russia, in spite of propaganda. If I had to pick a country to dislike it would be France and England, not Russia. Russia has a very rich, unique history that has evolved over the centuries. My husband has visited Russia, and we would love to go again. Any animosity toward Russia, would be toward the politicians, not the people of Russia.

I hate Putin a whole lot less than I hate our contemporary leaders in many European nations and in the US. I hope Russia will win in Ukraine!
Ukraine is not a re-play of some Hollywood Good vs Evil WWII movie. Its closest comparison is Cuba including the missile crisis with reverse roles. The main difference is that Russia's invasion of this subverted neighbor worked.
Before the Ukraine war I had little respect for Putin, a former KGB man, possibly coming to power due to deadly false flag attacks, who failed to save the crew of Kursk. under whom Russia seemed to be stagnating, and who let the west encroach on him. This huge push back the invasion represents and how Russia's economy managed to even improve under the sanctions due to a strengthening of the domestic industry has given me a whole lot more respect in Putin.
