Beatles > Beach Boys, but I definitely think this is a nod to what Brian Wilson was doing. Many of those Beach Boys arrangements, both vocal and instrumental, are on another level.
Wow. This is the level of simplicity I've always needed to hear to understand their singing on Because. Your own harmony breakdown video is phenomenal, but to hear it in their individual voices is a real treat.
Marcus, I was almost out of this world when I heard this. Was relaxing in a hot tub and getting a little TOO relaxed. When it ended, I tried to sit up, but other songs began playing. The story goes that John asked Yoko what she was playing on the piano. Yoko said "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven. John asked her to play it backwards and ....here it is.
The chances that Yoko was capable of playing Moonlight Sonata backwards is frankly laughable and has been ever since John told the story .I think it is up there with the Ringo not even the best drummer in the Beatles nonsense,but hey it fooled you.
Simply brilliant performance AND superb job again by BVH - the jump at 1:43 to the doubling we're used to in "Because" really shows off the complexity of the single track harmonies. Thanks BVH & stay safe all :)
If you care to, listen to early Beach Boys before "Surfin' USA, they did not double track vocals up until that song. You can hear the dramatic difference.
When I was a kid I would take my record player to my best friend's house and we would listen to The Beatles and this song stuck out for me and I was only 5. This song is brilliant.

Brian Wilson's sound was clearly what they had in mind when they recorded it. This is absolutely the Beach Boys sound.
resembles "Our Prayer" very heavily. Although I do think this track beats Wilson's by a long shot.

Even in 69 a lot of there double tracking wasn’t Adt it was just other takes
Sharp Moto didn’t they stop using ADT since it produced too much tape hiss? Someone more informed can maybe chime in?
