If you ever come back, Studio Ghibli is very popular in Utah!! we have a old fashioned theatre that plays the movies once a year every year, my friends who vendor locally typically sell the most of that ^w^
Hey thanks for the shout out! 😊 (this is Marti) I’m glad you liked salt lake! It can be a fun city. Also I totally agree that vendors should have an easier time getting into the convention center! I had to park in the south side and that was the furthest away from the vendor floor. Getting in wasn’t too bad but when I had to take my wagon back to my car a volunteer tried to stop me and said I couldn’t exit out the way I came in from… the thing was the elevator inside the center that would have taken me to the parking garage was broken and the other elevator was right outside the doors I was trying to leave from. I argued with the lady and got my way 😆 she wanted me to walk half a block and I wasn’t gonna do that.
Omg we my sister-in-law and I were at the front of the line on Thursday, and I felt so terrible for all the vendors we saw who got turned away!!! The door people honestly seemed kind of draconian 😖
As an ex-Mormon artist living in Utah, I cackled at your reasoning for switching out your alcohol prints for something else. 😂 It's too true. I have a certain sticker with a pun that includes a swear word, and it always gets at least a few shocked or disapproving looks at my local Utah events.
Randomly stumbled across your video probably because live in Utah and had been to Fan X a bunch of times. I’m goad you had a great experience! Honestly if I had went this year and found your booth, I would’ve bought the Soju prints 😄 haha
Ditto on the random recommendation for the video. We've gone pretty much every fall since 2017 (we skipped 2021 and 2020 didn't happen). I was like, "no, those alcohol prints would have sold just fine" lol. While FanX takes place in Utah, Utahns do drink and the con pulls from all over the country and world. 🙂
Whaaat I didn’t realize you were at this event!! I totally agree that the end caps weren’t good spots. I went as an attendee day two and I found myself often missing the end caps and having to back track. I hope I can get off the waitlist and be able to table next year ^^
1) Those alcohol prints probably would have sold better than you think ;-) 2) A separate Vendor entrance has been asked for many times, and I agree that it needs to happen, however, Thursday the entrances were just all borked up entirely. 3) I usually spend a fair bit of time wandering through Artist Alley but I just didn't have much chance this year, so didn't see you and now I'm sad I missed your booth! 4) That machine cosplay was so fun (can't remember the name). We were behind them coming in on Friday. They said they like to hang out by the vending machines to freak people out when they start to move and hand out stickers through the slot, lol. 5) While many con-goers want FanX to expand to Sunday, most vendors emphatically say NO due to exactly what you said - keeping Sunday as a travel day. 6) Placement - the endcaps did seem to be terrible this year, but it meant the aisles in AA where wider. Past years if you had, say, two walkers / wheelchairs trying to go down the same aisle it was nearly impossible (I'm a walker user). So the wider aisles were nice, but I think they tried to squeeze more booths in by adding more endcaps 😕
Thank you for the insightful comment!! I did still sell them, but they just weren't up for display, but I'm glad to know that maybe next time I should just go all out with them hehehe I hope to cross paths with you in the future!!
@@Sundrop.Studios I second point 1! I'm born and raised Utahn (and exmo) and I was actually surprised by how packed coffee shops and liquor stores are. Turns out when you try to limit and demonize something, people end up wanting it more. You'd think we woulda learned from the prohibition...
@@SakuranboNekoin an even more ironic turn, my bf’s very mormon family ran a speakeasy during prohibition 😂 and his dad loved working at a liquor store. they don’t drink, but I wouldn’t say all are totally offended by alcohol.
The Con I attend the most in Canada has a separate entrance just for their vendors. Its on the complete opposite side of the building from the attendee entrance, which I personally enjoy because you're able to really stay in your "set up, take a breather, sell" headspace without freaking yourself out seeing everyone waiting to go in. Its also really organized and cute seeing all the artists chatting and talking merch! Definitely agree its super helpful for vendors :D
At Salt Lake Comic Con, you can avoid the long entry line by entering through the parking garage (I think). I haven't worked that con in a few years, but in the past I always got in through the parking garage on the west side of the building.
omigod hello!!! we have several of your prints and have given them to many of our friends as gifts 😭 !! and I'll have to snoop next year to see if that passage is still available! thank u for the tip
The 10:00 am soju guy is a warrior! He was possibly a person who recently quit Mormonism, and was still figuring out alcohol. Or maybe he just didn't know Korean booze very well. I've noticed that Salt Lake City and Denver Colorado have the biggest alcohol cultures at the convention. In both cities, I've seen lots of people with beer on the convention floor. Maybe it's the altitude? Maybe it's because these are the descendants of crazy, hard drinking cowboys? Who knows.

As one from the very demographic you mentioned, I laughed so hard 😂 The prints probably would have sold pretty well, honestly. Hope you had a good time ❤ And yes, we're crazy because of the elevation lol.
I'm glad you came to my local con! I was part of the big Naruto group at the very beginning!! Its always fun to see people enjoying our funky little cosplays 😊 Fanx has always had pretty bad setup for the vendors. The endcaps do get more vendors in the con, but I wish they were a cheaper price to reflect the lesser traffic 😅
I just happened upon this video, but I was there and had purchased several things from you including a spirited away print that I am absolutely in love with! My partner has been wearing her little orange/tangerine phone bag and gets compliments wherever we go. I love all of your work so much! I hope you'll be able to come back :) Either way, I'm glad I found your channel because I need that soju print fs.
Hhh I tried Fanx a few years ago and it was my first ever table so It was extra nerve wracking and terrible. They tried to separate merchandise from prints so artist alley could only sell paper or 1 dimensional goods. Almost no one did and I wound up overpaying for a vendor table that was separate from the other artists ;;;; Also parking and trying to break into the building was so hard. Glad to see ur video recommended for me tho! I haven't heard super optimistic things about FanX in the past couple years but I think I'll check it out again next year. Although I've heard our gaming and board game cons are really good, so there may be a future still for fanx. Just wish they'd choose a venue outside downtown tho...
Oh, you missed the entrance at the North end, by the Radisson. We were a vendor there, and went in that entrance every day. It was pretty much the go to vendor/exhibitor entrance. The re-entry entrance on the north side. It was super simple. If you go to FanX again - try to get a room in the Radisson, and just use that entrance. Ooooo! Red Iguana, one of our favorite food spots in SLC, too.
I spent half the time grooving to the song of choice in the video. I like your videos! Have you been to SDCC, or do you mainly go to anime conventions?
wahoo I'm glad ppl are grooving! I would LOVE to do SDCC, but they prioritize comic book artists specifically, and it's so difficult to get into T.T for now, I am mostly doing anime cons!
I’ve always wanted to do this show since my sister lives in UT but everyone always says it’s super weak for sales. It’s nice to hear some positive things about the con for once!
hi hi!! yeah it's a very chill and easy con. because the hall is so big, I think your placement matters a lot- but I heard they're changing it all up next year, so it'll be kinda a crap shoot! not the strongest sales, but I didn't have a bad experience. my only gripe was getting into the con, physically hahaha
I went on Thursday it was my first time there and it was super fun but my social anxiety was sky rocketing so I was very nervous the whole time but i did see this venue there it was very pretty!
Fanx was stressful but also fun this was my second year going and it was definitely crowded i wish i saw your booth it looks amazing but i had to rush everywhere to meet family. Definitely subscribing though.
I think I stopped at your booth for a short minute while I was there, your art pieces are so adorable! Sadly I was there specifically to get a giant scythe from Rwby or else I probably would've brought something!
Bro they need to get rid of those end cap spots. They're too easy to overlook because they're always hidden behind the displays of the tables around them, and in main aisles so it doesn't feel really safe to stop and look at people's stuff cuz you feel like you're in the way of traffic. Last year and this year both I've missed like 80% of them because of those issues, and because my friends don't like it. They should bring back the corner tables, or let the end caps stick out further. I don't think I ever made it up close to your table, but it's cool to find you now! I've been to FanX every year since it began (11 years now), and I would love for you to come back next year so I can see you! Thanks for sharing all this information, too. I always want to sell at FanX, but the only time I made it (last year) everything was sold out before I had a chance to pay... only for us to get there, and a TON of artist spots to be completely vacant. It was super frustrating, but on the bright side, instead of tabling I made the coolest cosplay I've ever done!
I felt the pain of walking around with stuff to just load in. my experience years back was similar and pretty sure I had heat exhaustion day 1. Lol.. - Glad they rearranged the layout so you got the chance to be there, but I can't imagine having a stamp rally and then that happens. ;--; - as for the Stamp idea, what reason would putting your table location on the business card help? For non purchasing customers that want a card?
hi hi! and I put the table location on there so people can find me later :) or give it to a friend to find my later. I see a lot of people window shop their first day and collect cards from tables they're interested in, so I want to maximize the chances of them coming back!
another fun vlog :D some of my friends went to this con apparently the scheduling for certain panels was really chaotic LOL; i definitely like more of the "come along for the journey" type videos compared to "start to finish" design vids but im seated for either!
@@Sundrop.Studios Scheduling was definitely chaotic. Last minute changes a lot. For instance, there were 3 thing for Hazbin Hotel. Initially one Thursday, two Saturday. The Thursday sing-along time got changed just before the doors opened on Thursday. At the same time both things scheduled for Saturday also got moved to Thursday. A week ahead (by which time the schedule is usually pretty locked in) all kinds of panels were being moved around.
I stopped by your booth and would’ve bought the crap out of that Whiskey print. It’s such a vibe. Funnily enough, even though the majority of Utah is Mormon, Salt Lake is a bubble of Ex Mormon / non religious people. But totally get featuring the cuter gummy bears regardless
I was still selling it and had it in my display book! I totally will make it more prominent for next time, I’m rly happy to have learned more the area! 🫶
if you have not tested for it yet. ask your doctor about blood work for latex. i have the same allergies to those foods and you can google that as well.
If you go back do put out the alchol ones. Salt Lake is the least mormon part of the state by a large margin and the demographic that goes to FanX is even less so. Plenty of mormons go, but not nearly enough to pull them if they are you're most popular designs. The whole Utah doesn't like alchol is a huge (and largely false) stereotype. Other events maybe pull them here, but not ones in SLC and definitely not FanX. Also the endcap spots were SO bad this year (we had one too). We made about a third what we normally do and it was definitely due to the endcap location. The crowds are just too dense to get good spill over into the cross isles. Also apparently we were neighbors because that's my blue backdrop behind you XD.
totally! I was still selling them, I just didn't have them up for display, but I totally hear you. I just wasn't sure, especially since the whole con schedule is shifted to end before Sunday! But it's good to know for next time. And yeah I wasn't super happy with the placement, it's not a good deal at all T.T Oh well, word is that they're planning to change it up for next year though! Here's to hoping!
Mormon here, yeah I was surprised when she said she wouldn’t sell a print. We some may not drink but there are others who are not active that do. It’s just a preference thing. Commercial alcohols just aren’t made like they should in the past and are devoid of good substance. Even Jesus drank wine.
Vendor registration and getting in every morning is always the most stressful part, the available for-vendor-use door seems to be different every year 😭
@Sundrop.Studios Omg and the loadout is a mess, every year a different elevator is broken so everyone has to line up for 20 minutes to get down to the parking garage 😭 One year we packed up in our car and had to wait AN HOUR AND A HALF in line to leave the parking garage. They need a better system lol. But it's always a fun con so I'll give them that 😆
omg im so sorry they made you walk that far!! FanX in the past 2 years have been changing the way they do things and that was one of them. I really hope they get their crap together :(( I was also a vendor this year, helping out a family friend sell books and it really was annoying. They used to have a separate vendor entrance!! I've worked with FanX either as a Vendor or panelist or even a volunteer for one year, (I've participated for 10 years!!!) and they've had the weirdest changes. I hope that me being here for a long time helps improve their con.
omg!!! what luck that i got this on my feed!! i bought 3 small prints from your booth! your stand was soooo freaking cute i honestly wish i bought more 😋 🫶🏼✨
As someone who recently moved from SLC, I'm sorry the thai food is kinda mid. there used to be some really good places that I think changed ownership, but even those are nowhere near downtown haha. If you ever come to the twin cities there's great thai food here!! (along with laos, viet, etc). the thing I miss most about SLC is a hidden gem of a coffee shop called Cafe on 1st, it's in the avenues though and so a bit out of the way if you want to stick to downtown.
downtown SLC has O Shucks (fusion irish pub and sushi restaurant), Itto Sushi, Habachi, Xiao Bao Bao, Sawadee Thai, The Pearl, and Mi La-Cai Noodle House for baller asian restaurants of a fair amount of cultures
As a native Utahn, our Fan X conventions kinda suck, lol. They must be good for vendors but there's really not much besides a giant merch hall. It's so lame!
Fanx this year was a fucking nightmare. Usually I can walk around artist alley two or three times over the weekend but it was so crowded this year that I was too overwhelmed and only did it once or twice. It felt impossible to interact with cosplayers. I still have a migraine a month later. I was dressed as Leah from stardew valley and ran around with a junimo plush all weekend
awww i would’ve totally bought something from you if i wasn’t broke (worst thing to be while at a convention) and if i knew about you before tonight!! fanx was pretty neat. the only thing i got was a print of Sara and Oliver from The Kiss Bet booth (my fave webtoon). also is it normal for conventions to have nsfw just out in the open? this is my first time going to FanX, so i was really caught off guard seeing children in strollers right next to barely censored p0rn 💀 also! i’m an artist too. is there some way i can be like you and be able to sell it? i’ve had commissions open for a year and haven’t gotten a single one at all…
There was a different entrance for vendors/vip however it is extremely hidden and Idek how people find out it exists.💀 When I went in there there was only like two vendors who knew about it I feel like 😭 to get in to the entrance you need a vip badge that’s how I got in
How to get set up for FanX, there is a whole day before con where you can go in as a venders. Use the vender entrance which is the back bay. Or use the volunteer entrance. Also with alcohol prints, people of the LDS faith(Mormons) aren't stupid and won't get mad over it since it's not actually alcohol. Also real alcohol is served at FanX. Don't eat from venders in the venue, go next door to the mall food court or to the restaurants near by as their food won't be marked up. The only things that don't sell well are the 18+ things that are not regulated. I know where you were at, sorry you had to be so close to the loud dragon booth. But like I said come the day before and set up. I'm not LDS but live in Utah. I just feel it's really disingenuous to treat them like that they also only make up 41% of all Utahns.
loved this vlog! your pup is so cute 🥺 im also slightly allergic to melons 🫠 and didn't know you sold out of stuff, that's awesome!! see you at the next con 💖

You are the cutest 🙏 I loved your energy, I would buy the soju print asap
Can’t wait for you to come back!
I live in Utah and I went. Super fun but not many places to rest!
oh yes, I can see that! I'm glad you had fun tho!!
I went on Thursday it was my first time there and it was super fun but my social anxiety was sky rocketing so I was very nervous the whole time but i did see this venue there it was very pretty!
I'm sorry about your anxiety, but I hope you had a great time!
@@Sundrop.Studios oh Ty and I had an amazing time!
You always get such tasty food- got me hungry watching the vlog 😭😭😭
I'm very into food heuh huh
yooooooooo i rember seeing your booth
this was cute! I loved this! headed out to watch more.
;)
Fanx was stressful but also fun this was my second year going and it was definitely crowded i wish i saw your booth it looks amazing but i had to rush everywhere to meet family. Definitely subscribing though.
I wish i came to your booth😕 it looked so cute
I think I stopped at your booth for a short minute while I was there, your art pieces are so adorable! Sadly I was there specifically to get a giant scythe from Rwby or else I probably would've brought something!
thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you got what you were looking for!
Oh my heck, I went to your booth!
that illustration of anna ripping open the world is u after getting ripped from lugging ur luggage around utah
LMFAOOOOOooOOo, like so true
Oh, you missed the entrance at the North end, by the Radisson. We were a vendor there, and went in that entrance every day. It was pretty much the go to vendor/exhibitor entrance.
I see a lot of people window shop their first day and collect cards from tables they're interested in, so I want to maximize the chances of them coming back!
another fun vlog :D some of my friends went to this con apparently the scheduling for certain panels was really chaotic LOL; i definitely like more of the "come along for the journey" type videos compared to "start to finish" design vids but im seated for either!
omg was it? I usually only hear things from the vendor's side so I like hearing about the con experience from other POVs!
and thank you for the input!
A week ahead (by which time the schedule is usually pretty locked in) all kinds of panels were being moved around.
come to baltimore next year. hope to see you there
would be so cool to go out there!
The best employee made a cameo!!!!
HE CERTAINLY DID
A good place to eat in SLC is Mr. Shabu! It's hot pot. I had it for the first time right before going to FanX!
I love Kom ka ghai if I'm spelling correctly ❤ Hope you move to Utah!
if you have not tested for it yet. ask your doctor about blood work for latex. i have the same allergies to those foods and you can google that as well.
ohhh interesting! didn't know there could be other material allergies associated!
Next time you come to Utah you need to try Shanghai cafe !!
Vendor registration and getting in every morning is always the most stressful part, the available for-vendor-use door seems to be different every year 😭
no consistency ahhhhHHh
@Sundrop.Studios Omg and the loadout is a mess, every year a different elevator is broken so everyone has to line up for 20 minutes to get down to the parking garage 😭 One year we packed up in our car and had to wait AN HOUR AND A HALF in line to leave the parking garage. They need a better system lol. But it's always a fun con so I'll give them that 😆
omg im so sorry they made you walk that far!! FanX in the past 2 years have been changing the way they do things and that was one of them.
I really hope they get their crap together :((
I was also a vendor this year, helping out a family friend sell books and it really was annoying. They used to have a separate vendor entrance!!
I've worked with FanX either as a Vendor or panelist or even a volunteer for one year, (I've participated for 10 years!!!) and they've had the weirdest changes. I hope that me being here for a long time helps improve their con.
10 years!! that's so amazing, you definitely must have experienced this con to the max! an expert by now, woo!
@@Sundrop.Studios I have the whole convention center layout memorized to say the least :,)
omg!!! what luck that i got this on my feed!! i bought 3 small prints from your booth! your stand was soooo freaking cute i honestly wish i bought more 😋 🫶🏼✨
hi hi hi
As someone who recently moved from SLC, I'm sorry the thai food is kinda mid. there used to be some really good places that I think changed ownership, but even those are nowhere near downtown haha. If you ever come to the twin cities there's great thai food here!! (along with laos, viet, etc). the thing I miss most about SLC is a hidden gem of a coffee shop called Cafe on 1st, it's in the avenues though and so a bit out of the way if you want to stick to downtown.
this is great to know for the next time I'm in town!
downtown SLC has O Shucks (fusion irish pub and sushi restaurant), Itto Sushi, Habachi, Xiao Bao Bao, Sawadee Thai, The Pearl, and Mi La-Cai Noodle House for baller asian restaurants of a fair amount of cultures
Lil bb Benny 😭😭😭
💚💚💚
My sister showed me your booth and i had to pick up a few pieces.
You should have left the alcohol prints in your set up. I live in Salt Lake. There is a large alcohol culture here. We have a lot of craft beers too.
STOPPP I WAS AT FANX I THINK I SAW YOUR BOOTH IM SO SAD THAT I DIDNT HAVE ANY MONEY 😭😭😭
NO THAT'S TOTALLY OK! I'm so glad that you were able to see my table though!
I live there lol❤
WAIT WAHT THERE WAS A CONVENTION THING IN SALT LAKE??? I LIBE SO CLOSE NOOOOOOO
I was dressed as Leah from stardew valley and ran around with a junimo plush all weekend
it was definitely crowded! I hope you're recovered from the crazy 🤞
I saw you there!
hi there~
@@Sundrop.Studios :>
awww i would’ve totally bought something from you if i wasn’t broke (worst thing to be while at a convention) and if i knew about you before tonight!! fanx was pretty neat. the only thing i got was a print of Sara and Oliver from The Kiss Bet booth (my fave webtoon).
also is it normal for conventions to have nsfw just out in the open? this is my first time going to FanX, so i was really caught off guard seeing children in strollers right next to barely censored p0rn 💀
also! i’m an artist too. is there some way i can be like you and be able to sell it? i’ve had commissions open for a year and haven’t gotten a single one at all…
There was a different entrance for vendors/vip however it is extremely hidden and Idek how people find out it exists.💀 When I went in there there was only like two vendors who knew about it I feel like 😭 to get in to the entrance you need a vip badge that’s how I got in
oh wow yeah I had noooo idea
You can leave the alcohol. The vast majority of us don't care. ❤❤
I’m also “allergic” to many raw fruits and veggies! You might have Oral Allergy Syndrome if you’re also allergic to pollen! 😊
I FORGOT THIS WAS THIS OCTOBER I WAS SUPPOSED TO COME WITH MY FRIENDS THEREJSAJANS
MAYBE NEXT YEAR?! hehe!
WHAT
(if i heard about this i would’ve fucking speedrun over there)
Lmao I live there
How to get set up for FanX, there is a whole day before con where you can go in as a venders.
I SAW YOU AT FANX YOU WERE SO COOL!!! (≡^∇^≡)
The allergy thing could be overactivated mast cells or oral allergy syndrome
The foods she mentioned kind of sounds like a mild latex or ragweed allergy. Especially with tomato and kiwi.
low-key so many people have been mentioning OAS, I should probably look into it 😂
Damn it I forgor...
oh when u arived u arived at down town salt lake
loved this vlog! your pup is so cute 🥺 im also slightly allergic to melons 🫠 and didn't know you sold out of stuff, that's awesome!! see you at the next con 💖
see you guys sooooon ~
