    Thanks for putting together this excellent video! I've been looking for info on the differences between the Expert vs Pro and you covered all the features. Manitou should hire you to update their website (shockingly little info)!
    Thanks again!

      In reality, you can't go wrong with either one. It's hard to say who "needs" what model. The pro is definitely the top dog as far as ultimate tunability and overall chassis strength and it's cheaper than the other brands top DJ models. The expert is a long standing work horse of a DJ fork. There is nothing else on the market that can touch it's performance to dollar ratio.

      Thanks for the info. I think by design I am stuck with the experts I need a straight steerer and you can't get that on the pro

    Good thing for Dorado Air is that you can upgrade the top cap to IVA spacers in order to further customize ramp-up.

      @@WattOnWheels Well. here's a question for you. I'm getting old (55) but I been an athlete all my life. HOWEVER, I put on some LBS so I'm 6'1 245, not a tiny person. Still, I have pretty good cardio and reflexes. I like to do technical trails and single track with some small jumps. I wonder if the expert would be a good choice for a guy like me over something like an XC fork like a Markhor or one of the Rockshocks??? Thanks in advance!!

    • @WattOnWheels

      @@obxarms7685 what type of bike do you have ? The Expert is for 26 in wheels only.

    • @obxarms7685
      @obxarms7685 Год назад +1

      @@WattOnWheels It's an old GT with 26" wheels and a 1-1/8 head tube. When it came out it was a higher end model, of course that was over 20 years ago. haha

    • @WattOnWheels
      @WattOnWheels  Год назад

      @@obxarms7685 so, the expert will and can work as a trail fork. When I was till racing I would routinely ride my slopestyle/4x bike on regular trails alot. The damper has the adjustment range needed. It will ha e a bit stiffer compression tune but that's not really a factor when at our bodyweights. Now, finding and expert fork with a straight steer tube is going to be a bit trickier. They are out there just hard to find.

    Yeah, I’m not seeing a big enough difference to justify the cost. I bought the expert. (Second pair)
    Im sure they feel different but I limit travel to so little that the action isn’t a huge concern.
    I like about 50mm of travel with no initial sag at all. I’m simply not utilizing enough travel to fall in love with superior action.
    Thanks tho. You answered ever question I had about the differences.

    I have a travel adjustment question: Many people and shops selling Manitou will list travel as one-current number like 120, while the website lists them in 2 or 3 ranges. So if I get a Manitou Magnum Pro 120, is it possible to change travel both up and down or does it depend on which range version is it? If you know this regarding Circus, that could be helpfull too. Thanks a lot

    • @WattOnWheels
      @WattOnWheels  4 года назад

      So I did a little research and it also depends on what version it is. The 27.5 version has options but the 29+ version is 120 travel only. Often times shops and online retailer may only list what the travel is as it lays in the box. Not with the options.

    • @polishguywithhardtospellna8227
      @polishguywithhardtospellna8227 4 года назад

      @@WattOnWheels thanks a lot. I also found Magnum Pro in parts list table: to have 80-100mm for both wheel sizes, 120/140 for 27,5 and 120mm travel for 29". But it's still unclear as the documents might be outdated. I'm looking at a private sale offer on an unused 120 29" Magnum Pro and it has a sticker on the back of left lower, saying adjustable travel.
      I hate the lack of concrete information on suspension iterations. So annoying. Thanks again for help. Stay healthy and best wishes for the family too.

    I've watched a vid where the arch got twisted in a accident.( ont the expert) was quite light damage but good enough. I know I'm giving you vague info but do you think the pro would have stood a better chance

    • @WattOnWheels
      @WattOnWheels  3 года назад +1

      Quite possibly. But the thicker stanchion helps more with fore and aft flex. If the arch broke that all has to do with the arch and axle providing torsional resistance.
