  • Hey, i’m Caris welcome to my RUclips channel where I talk about all things tinnitus! 👂🏻
In this video, I'm excited to share my recent hearing aid fitting appointment with you! Dealing with mid-range hearing loss and tinnitus has presented its challenges, but this appointment marks the beginning of a transformative journey for me. I invite you to join me as I navigate this life-changing experience and share my insights along the way!
Tinnitus isn't the end of a happy life and i'm here to prove it. I used to blame everything on my tinnitus and since accepting it, my life has changed.
Tinnitus has been a companion of mine for as long as I can remember. I'm now 22 years old and after many rough years with tinnitus, I have now began to live my life happily. My tinnitus hasn't gone away, but my negative response to it has.
When I was struggling to cope, the search to find reliable information was almost impossible. I have made this channel in hope to reach you at a point in your journey where you need it most.
Here i'll share all of my mistakes, management techniques and most importantly, things I wish I knew about tinnitus.
    Thanks for being here!☺️

I just love your videos Caris - thank you for making us feel less alone with our tinnitus and hearing loss. I just got my hearing aids that are also tinnitus maskers so they play sounds as well. I am working with Treble Health - an online audiology group that specializes in tinnitus. The goal, and program, is to eventually fully habituate and no longer hear my tinnitus, or hear it much less. Hoping for the best. I didn't realize how bad my hearing loss really was. It is in the high frequencies, but pretty significant. I never really noticed it that much before. But now that I have my hearing aids I realize how much better I hear!!!! I hate that I have lost hearing, but love my hearing aids.

Not much on tinnitus and how difficult it makes the hearing test - so thank you for covering this! I had private and NHS tests last year. One audiologist even got frustrated with me because I wasn't clear on what I could hear and what I couldn't in the test... so its certainly not fully understood even between professionals. Glad you love the hearing aids, mine have changed my life. Although watch out for stares when you take phone calls on them... as people look for an airpod and can't see anything, you just look like a crazy person talking to yourself... lol

Hi!! This is such an insightful video thank you for documenting it, Im from the uk and also have tinnitus and a bit of hearing loss, have had this since I was about 15, am 27 now. Every time I go to the docs they send me for a hearing test, but like you said, I can’t actually hear the difference between the beeps and the tinnitus. The worst thing I find with my tin/hearing loss is the fact that I can’t understand anyone in a busy public place, makes nights out very hard!🤣 Is this something you’ve dealt with and if you have, has the hearing aids made a difference? Hope you get on well with them!

Hey thank you so much for the comment and I’m ever so glad you found it insightful!
In regards to your question - yes, yes, yes and yes. I relate to that so much. I love social situations but my tinnitus/ hearing loss always makes me say “what” about 20 times in a conversation. OR I have to smile and move the conversation along because I couldn’t catch something after 1 too many times of not understanding😅
The hearing aids are helping a lot so far. Went out to a busy coffee shop with my friend and although it was a lot for my ears to take in at first, it was certainly better than without them! Hoping I get used to them more and more as time goes on. I will update!☺️

Hi! The hearing aids are working amazingly at the moment. I often missed out the middle ground in conversation which made socialising difficult. The hearing aids have really helped me get me life back in that aspect. In regards to my tinnitus, I certainly have more distractions in terms of what else I can hear despite the tinnitus. I didn’t get the hearing aids specifically for the tinnitus but more for the hearing loss. The Bluetooth feature is certainly put to good use with white noise though!

Hi Caris, i have just developed Tinnitus just before New Years eve, after having a microsunction procedure. So I saw the audiologist yesterday and he told me that it looked like I had some hearing loss and what he suggested was I should go for hearing aids but they're so expensive $5000, $7500 $10,000. Do you support with having hearing aids or i'm guess sound therapy, is it really worth the money?
