    QuickSIN:
    “SNR loss data may not be applied to hearing aid fitting.”
    ACT:
    “Adaptive features set to slightly lower than the maximum level - help balance speech understanding while maintaining natural sound in moderately noisy environments”
    The chart at 5:22 shows ‘Fitting Advice’ This is so basic it can’t even be described as fitting advice, and is not in any way exclusive to the ACT test. Now, it being non-language dependent is a very nice selling point, but stick to that point and don’t muck it up and make it seem better and more innovative than it is. All it seems to be is a QuickSIN test that uses Sounds vs Words.
    With all due respect, in many of your videos you do similar things where you mix facts with half truths. For example in a video discussing the Signia Silk IX you throw shade about the company selling more and more direct to consumer as a negative. Yet when you discuss the Resound Nexia the fact that the Jabra line OTC is by far the most recognized and biggest name in the direct to consumer market is glossed over.

    Interesting video. I watched a video last month on this test. I find it difficult to understand speech in noise. I was referred to an ENT after my doctor expressed concerns. While I seem to hear sounds, i have major concerns with speech in noise. I did not do well with my last speech in noise test and felt like i only understood three words in the third example. It will be interesting to see how this test compares to other testing methods.

    My audiologist is amazing. I wear Phonak Lumity. At my last appointment, she added a second setting since I couldn't hear customers because of environmental noise. Now, I can hear customers clearly or even talking to someone by pressing once either on the right or left hearing aid. The same goes when I want my hearing aids normal again. However, once again, for another awesome video.

      @jimmccusker3155 she added it at my last appointment. You know that part if you want to shut the hearing aids off or turn it on. Mine are rechargeable. So when I press once. The sound is a beep. When I want to have my hearing aids to normal, it goes back to the other noise.

    My next set will probably be an Oticon. My first Oticons lasted 10 years. My Resounds lasted 2 years, then the next one 2 years. The Phonak's I have are pretty well and hitting 2 years old and still doing good.

    Does this test work with hearing aids of all brands, or only for Oticon aids?

    Doc - you been takin incoming lately. Sympathies. Keep up useful work. Maybe tap breaks on swag, etc. East Coast Auds cringe when I tell them I had my 1st fitting in anthem. Marvel R90. Think it was 2017. All good Cliff, using Lumity RT. Fit by nervous Aud. Tom

    Do the Phonak Audeo support the nCL adjustments like Oticon?

    • @cs3192
      @cs3192 3 дня назад

      It absolutely does. Talk to your audiologist about your contrast issues and he will quickly fix it via the advanced processing features of the audeo.

    I would be concerned that via this test, my BICROS hearing system would be set way too high for it to be comfortable to wear throughout the day. I don't understand how one can adjust the settings to differentiate between background noise and normal conversations---it's all sound. Sure, manufacturers have built software within the products to help, but honestly--It's only a slight improvement. I've pretty much learned a few tricks by trial and error to manage in a restaurant---such as where to sit, which direction to face, etc. Other than having an external accessory microphone, I don't think anything an audiologist or manufacturing company can do will help. Maybe someday manufacturers will become more invested in single sided hearing software, but it appears there isn't enough of a market for them to do it. If they only knew how exhausting it is to focus so hard throughout the day and how frustrating it is to not be able to locate the direction of sound. Ugh--not fun.

      As a BICROS wearer myself (Oticon ) I feel your pain. Most of the advanced HA features are useless -- if they're even implemented at all -- in CROS devices, because they're designed to leverage localization and other artefacts of stereo hearing.

    Always enjoy watching your videos. Quick question. I have Resound Nexia RIC hearing aids and work well. The sound quality though for streaming music isn’t as good as my AirPods Pro. If I bought high end over the ear headphones and streamed from those instead can ai leave my hearing aids in or do I need to remove the aids? I sometimes just enjoy listening to music and don’t want to disturb my wife at night listening through speakers.

    Why only 50 % and not more? …..Speech would still be so disjointed because all you are doing is fighting just to pick out words and not the actual message.
