    I just got the 440 and I’m a violin teacher and orchestra member. So far, this has provided the absolute best sound. The Philips was great for conversation but music was distressing. There was so much distortion! With the Widex, I haven’t heard any distortion or echo.

      Hi Cynthia, hope you can get my question. I am an amateur musician and wear widex hearing aids since 2016. My problem, playing guitar, piano, or singing is the compressor. Do you have any special programming not to have volume variations in your ears that are not related on how volume are you asking to your instrument. Not sure if I am asking clearly; what happens to me is, for example, when I am singing the hearing aids lower the gain when my voice is loud, also with other instruments, and this is very annoying. Regards

      @@SirMannix I have a feeling no hearing aids will be good enough for acoustic musicians . I’m still trying to understand the differences but these have AI learning software. So I’ll be figuring out how to create multiple programs to suit various activities and surroundings. There are 2 interesting settings offered in the package. One is “Pure” and the other is “music”. Both of these will offer a wider range of frequencies and dynamics. I haven’t noticed the volume change on long, loud notes like you mentioned but I’ll be back on stage with the orchestra in 2 weeks. I sure hope they don’t totally spaz out.

      @@cynthiagabriel5737 thank you for your answer. Yes, now I am fitted with Evoque 330, with IA, and I can create programs (only work with bluetooth connection) where I setted volume and equalization in different ways, for playing piano or playing guitar. This, based in the original Music Program, wich I think it has the lesser compressor setting. Now I am reasearchig to replace my Evoques with Moments; Been in Dream 440, and not so happy with the sound of Evoque. Have a good time on stage (brake your leg).

    Thanks for the video, I found it very beneficial. I agree, the pure sound is legit. I find it most useful in public spaces specifically social. It seems much more versatile in these situations. The in depth explanation about the difference between universal and pure sound makes perfect sense. I have mild hearing loss and have an open dome, glad to learn pure sound is not only my preference but recommended for my situation. I learned a lot, my audiologist was good but this level of detail wasn’t explained during my appointment.

    I am an avid music lover with moderate hearing loss. I love to listen to my vinyl record collection on my audiophile system. However, if I listen with my current hearing aids (not Widex), the music sounds unnatural and overly bright or harsh. Therefore, I listen without my hearing aids and have to play the music at a very high volume in order to get everything I want to hear out of the recording. Do you think the Widex Moment hearing aids would help to make a significant improvement in my listening experiences?

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  4 года назад

      It had to do with the operating systems. Since iOS is a single operating system, it was relatively easier just to make your hearing aids compatible with only iPhones. This continues to be true, however, manufacturers are probably tired of having consumers go with Android compatible devices since Android is the largest market segment.

      Doctor Cliff, AuD probably not just want to compare Phonak, Oticon and Widex before I plunk down $5/7 for a new set. Will mean seeing 3 different providers. Would like something that doesn’t need to be repaired every 3 to 6 months.🤣

    I'm probably going to post my own review of these hearing aids, but I was curious if you had any feedback on my thoughts.
    I currently have a demo pair of the Widex Moments and am likely going to be buying a pair in about a month, but there are a few things that are quite bad considering the price point.
    Lets start with the hardware:
    -The charging case. This is probably the most poorly designed case on any tech device I've ever used. The little flip lid serves no purpose. I have no idea why they didn't design a lid that could actually close around the hearing aids. And on that note, even if I turn off the hearing aids before putting them in the charger, they turn on as soon as they start charging, and remain on if you unplug the charger. This seems like a bug that could easily be fixed with a software update. And it's 2022. Just put a usb-c port on the charger.
    The software (just like the eargo, this is where most of the problems appear):
    - The hearing aids sometimes end up out of sync when streaming audio from a Bluetooth device like an iPhone. Disconnecting and reconnecting the bluetooth fixes that, but the reason this happens is that they are each paired as a separate device. Again, it's 2022. Get a better software engineer. If I can buy AirPods for 200 bucks that can do everything on the UX side better, there's a real problem considering the price point here.
    - The bluetooth signal strength is incredibly weak. Sometimes I'll get interference because my head gets in between my phone and the hearing aid, but sometimes it's fine. I guess I would just say its unreliable.
    - When using the hearing aids while paired to an iPhone- every time I open an app that has some sort of sound capability, regardless of if there is actually sound being played, the hearing aids will switch their mode into streaming speech or music mode. That means opening instagram, sometimes Facebook, RUclips etc... they automatically switch modes. Sometimes the switch is delayed, sometimes it happens as soon as the app is opened. It's the unpredictability that is the most annoying though.
    All that being said, the sound quality and usability of these is leaps and bounds above the eargo hearing aids, and I will likely buy them despite what I listed above.

      Just a note on the charger, if not mistaken, you do not need to turn the HAs off before putting them into the charger. They will be switched off once they are in, and turned back on when they are pulled out. Please give it a try.

    • @vistasuprema
      @vistasuprema 2 года назад

      @@ellistai I believe they turn on as soon as you put them in the charger. I say this because even when I turn them off first, my phone will still connect to them via Bluetooth while they’re charging.

    • @ellistai
      @ellistai 2 года назад

      @@vistasuprema Did you try putting them in when they are on? I believe the charger will flip the switch once it makes contact with the HAs.

      @@ellistai I realized what was happening. If you kill the power to the charger (unplug it) the HAs automatically turn on.

    I am SSD and mild to moderate loss in other ear, I’m researching my first hearing aids. The widex moment sounds impressive to my never aided ears. My questions are being a bicros candidate will they get the same good sound reviews . I’m also thinking the cros side will be lower in cost since it’s just a microphone ?

    Your videos inspired me to get tested again. I'm 48 now, but when last tested in my 20s I was told I wasn't a great candidate for aids. I saw the audiologist last week who sent me home with the Widex Moment demos. The batteries are dying so fast. You mentioned streaming in your video, so I'm guessing that's why they are dying so quickly. I tend to watch/listen to a lot of videos on my iPhone when I'm cooking and cleaning. Obviously the demos are not rechargeable, but I'm worried about investing in the 440 if I'm going to have battery management issues. Tips?

    Now not sure if you covered content aout this however I was wondering whether there were any major limitations or differences between device types and also whether the price varies majorly between styles of the devices. For example what am I missing out if I choose just say in the ear vs ric or CIC vs in the ear etc.

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  4 года назад

      The main difference with style like RIC or CIC is acoustics. Venting is incredibly important with hearing aids to prevent the occlusion effect. So is proximity of microphones to prevent feedback issues. These things are easier to address with RIC devices, but in the ear may be required depending on an individuals other needs. Price-wise, there are not many differences in cost between RIC and Custom devices. They may be slightly more expensive due to Earmold impressions or 3D scans, but not massively different.

      I have been wearing Widex for about seven years now. I think they’re the dream220. I wanted an upgrade to rechargeable and Bluetooth to my phone so I have been trialing Oticon this past month and have been having trouble with voices sounding distorted. All other sounds seem fine but voices sound digital and like people are taking through a fan or something. I’m thinking about trialing these Widex even though they will be much more expensive for me. Oticon is covered through my work health insurance but they don’t have Widex. Hopefully they will be worth the extra cost with no distortion.

    It should be noted that the Widex Moment products are on limited release...at the moment...and that they haven't rolled it out to all offices yet.
    As an additional note on the TruAcoustics feature, I totally agree that this feature may be irrelevant if the audiologist is using Real Ear Measures, but I have found in the few fittings that I've done so far that when I apply the information used in the TruAcoustics feature that I actually hit the target volume for the patient's Real Ear Measures easier than if I don't apply the information. Considering this, if an audiologist isn't using Real Ear Measures then the TruAcoustics feature can be quite helpful. Not as much as if they were using REMs, but better than if they didn't use either. And the combination of TruAcoustics AND use of REMs accomplishes the most for the patient AND the audiologist since, in my experience so far, it meets REMs easier if the feature is used. Use of TruAcoustics thus saves me as the audiologist time when I'm doing the REMs, and the patient as well.
    Bottom line: It's still best to find an audiologist who uses REMs, because that's the only way to know for sure if the target volume is being achieved. In lieu of REMs being available, TruAcoustics are second-hand way of likely getting there, but still the best combination is to use both.

    I like the Pure sound option for my Widex Moment hearing aids, but I have a problem with the amount of feedback I get, especially first thing when I put them on. It's so bothersome that I often abandon the Pure setting in favour of the Universal one. But the sound then, while adequate, is not as good as far as the sibilants when I'm listening to TV. What would you recommend?

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  4 года назад +1

      To cover all the differences, I would probably have to make a very detailed video describing the differences and possible ramifications of going lower in tech level. Otherwise, I will just have to make a general statement of it takes away features and customizability from your hearing care provider when programming them, that could possibly reduce your hearing performance.
