    VOTE on whether they have done enough for the new Series II "Facelift"!
    Click *LIKE for the Yes* (They've done enough!), or *COMMENT "No"* if more should have been done! (I'm doing this because RUclips has turned off the vote option 😕)

    Great little car I have a 2020 model in yellow in the UK and can confirm it’s a fantastic car for the money well equipped and fun to drive only fault is a slightly notchy gearbox in second which spoils traffic light Grand Prix
    Once the engine loosens up after 6k it’s really starting to fly and with the 975 kg makes it as nippy as my juke nismo and Impreza turbo well recommended for such a low price

    • @greenwagon00

      MattBrandCars main thing is the thrust back in the seats 30-90 mph due to the light weight it feels so faster then the 0-60 claimed 8.1 seconds
      Seats grip you well there is slight body roll but that makes the handling more fun as you power out through the twistys

    Well it can get chilly in southern parts of Australia and gets snowy in the Snowy Mountains which makes sense for it to have heated sideview mirrors. And I'm from United States and been my lifelong dream to move to Australia and I passed with a score of 80% for Australian citizenship with their practice test online and now I cannot wait to go take it for real at the Australian embassy in NYC!!!

    I test drove a Swift Sport for 24 hours earlier this year. My gripes were the same as yours. I couldn't stand that it (the old one) didn't have a digital speed readout. I found myself taking my eyes off the road for way too long to check my speed. The lack of armrest was also annoying. I really wished the stereo was a bit better as well and had digital radio. Finally those seats, I'm an average-large sized guy and those seats were just too small. My legs would be dead by the end of my 45 minute commute to work and I would be walking around in pain for the rest of the day. It's such a shame because if it wasn't for those seats I would have bought one. Such a fun little car. Hopefully the next one fixes the seats, the armrest and gives us a better infotainment system!

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  4 года назад

      Thanks for the detailed comment! On reflection the seats were too bolstered for me around my legs, glad I'm not the only person with that issue 😉

    Great review Matt. The orange and black combination looks great. At 32k for an auto it’s got such a “tinny” feeling, that’s a lot for this car. I’d at least want a centre arm rest and some soft touch areas.

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  4 года назад +2

      Thanks Paul, I have to agree with you! The centre console or lack thereof is something you get on base model polos as a cost saving thing, so it's not a great look that it's not here on the most expensive Swift!

    First off, I love how every "sporty" car design incorporates the big front fascia opening to project a sporty intention. Others have done it for a long time namely, Audi, but most recently, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO and everyone else did it after them. I drive a 2014 Generation 2 Forte5 SX which is a 5 door hatchback like this with the aforementioned front fascia. Using similar stylistic cues like fake carbon fibre texture crash bar and "rear difusser". The difference is, my car has 201HP and is probably just a few hundred pounds more than this. Both are probably very similar in driving dynamics. If these Swift were available in Canada, I would buy one.

      @user-lv9my6jw3x 4 года назад

      As per Tyre Reviews, PS4 are quieter, more grippy and comfortable than others (in class) but provide less feedback.
      Premium Contacts are the sportiest and provide more feedback but are noiser and not as comfortable (can confirm).
      In SA our models come with Yokohama Advans which felt comfy enough but I primarily drove the car on track (screeching tyres).
      I'm running Yokohama "BlueEarth ES 32s" on my i20 and are the best tyres I've put on the car (for the car). Good dry grip, fantastic wet grip and comfort + noise is insanely good. Changed the entire comfort levels of the car.
      Don't know about Pirellis in this 'segment' but they usually aren't the quietest or comfiest in class which may not work well with the cars natural lack of noise insulation.

    Honestly - how many times you touched the dash of your car? :D It doesn't matter if it is hard plastics not nice to touch, what matters is the durability and washability. Suzuki always made hard plastic dashes and from my experience, they never break or start to squeak. And that's what matters... Oh, and the armrest is available in the official accessories. ;)

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  4 года назад +2

      I'll address this comment as it seems to address me. I love the swift, loads of fun. The dash is made of hard, brittle plastics. I sit in a new car every week - the quality of the materials are the worst in Suzuki's, it's where they save money and they are unapologetic about it. There's a reason a base model swift is one of the absolute cheapest cars you can buy, and they share the same dash. It's great you like yours, but for prospective buyers it's something they should at least be aware of.

    "Fantastic" review mate! Very thorough and really nice to see you provide your thoughts as you drive the car around. Makes it easy to see how much you're enjoying the overall experience.
    Have had the Swift on the shortlist but COVID-19 has deferred the need for a 2nd car for now. Test drove one last year and completely agree with your observations, the engine outputs are mediocre on paper but the thing just feels so much faster than it actually is. I'd argue that the shorter gear ratios contribute to this "go-kart" feeling and gives you the ability to feel like a hero nailing the 1-2 shift whilst staying well below the speed limit.
    Sad to see the price has gone up again though since the previous price was already pushing it IMO. Makes sense given the new safety features but all that was really missing from the previous car was the digital speedo.

    6 month service intervals just helping dealer profitability at expense of customers!
    15,000km or 12 months is essential; today’s long drain synthetic oils have been proven to do double that) so if Suzuki wants to compete head on with its opposition, like VW Group and Hyundai/ Kia etc it needs to urgently address that issue.

    • @CarSauce
      @CarSauce  4 года назад +1

      I cut this part out for the sake of keeping time down and that this varies in different markets, but yes the 6-month servicing intervals are pretty short and that price will add up!

    • @damieg82
      @damieg82 4 года назад

      I think Suzuki is being cautious with a 6 month service interval. This engine is direct injected, and it's pretty much a known fact now that this type of injection clogs up intake valves horribly, because oil vapor reaches the valves via the PCV. One way to reduce the build up, is to have very clean oil. Going an entire year means oil loaded up with particulates will make its way to the intake valves.
      Whats really needed is the addition of port injectors to keep the intake valves clean... Toyota has started to do this with their direct injected engines. Until other manufacturers do it, shorter oil intervals will help save the engine in the long run

    To bad !
    Suzuki new generation has a GDI engine.
    So direct injection will build up carbon in the intake valve that leads to...
    1. Loss of power especially when driving at higher speed
    2. Poor acceleration
    3. Cold stalling
    4. Engine misfires
    5. Reduced fuel efficiency
    6. Check engine light turned on
    7. Rough running
    8. Engine judder at idle speed
    9. With those issues keep driving with out ''very expensive repair'' will lead to engine failure.
    This process will accelerate if you have turbo.
    Those problems will happen start 5 years
    just when your warranty is out time.

    • @Zim___
      @Zim___ 4 года назад +1

      Does this apply on all type of Direct Injection engine or specifically on Swift Sport?

    • @Duijnkiller
      @Duijnkiller 4 года назад

      @@Zim___ Sadly It apply to any Di/GDI engine will have those issues.
      with turbo it will accelerate even faster.
      It apply only to the new suzuki swift 2018~
      the year before ( 2017 ) it uses port direct injection so you dont have those issues.
      it's even fast as suzuki new only the design is the same.
      i had friend, owns suzuki swift sport 1.4 2018 25,000km. ( in warrenty )
      when the engine was cleaned he notice increased power and better fuel economy.
      *witch is bad sign because the carbon buildup was already fast progressing.*
      You can buy it but cleaning the enige every 10,000/20,000km.
      i heard of carbon deposit cleaning additives but it's proven in a lot of videos that does not really help much.
      best way of cleaning is taking the engine apart and cleaning part by part witch is ALOT of labour hours (walnut cleaning)
      I wanted to buy suzuki swift sport 1.4 but wont those expensive issues...
      so i focus on buying suzuki swift sport 1.6 2012-2017.

Currently driving a candy apple red 2019 manual and I’d agree with pretty much your whole review. The display is just OK, the stereo ain’t great and I think they sacrificed sound deadening at motorway speeds for lightness and performance. All that said, it’s HUGE fun to drive, and history tells me it will be reliable and cheap to run and maintain.

    Eurgh, often borrow Swift Sports from the local dealer here in the UK (they store cars in our warehouse so it's a nice partnership) - LOVED the 1.4 turbo, thought it was a great little car and easily got 50mpg (imperial) on a decent run without trying too hard. At £18k not cheap but had a lot of equipment so fair enough... Just recommended one to my brother then saw they're now all hybrids in the UK, less power (130bhp), more weight, 9.1 0-60mph and £21k! FFS they've killed it, made it worse in every way - I doubt the economy is much better either. Idiots.
