    Very good info. Broke 2 of them on my 91 GT over the last 30 years. Third gear jammed and found 3 broken slider keys on this one. Those keys are pos and adding billet ones on the rebuild. Looked like I did it too myself with a cheap shifter. A good shifter is a must with these things. Building it just the way you do and plan on 400 hp in front of it. This car has always a brought a smile to my face and you do a fantastic job of motivating people to build and enjoy Foxbodys.

Just kind of been sitting on it and had a buddy drop a line on one i can get in exchange for my stock sway bar (car gets dragged so its not on anyway) so hopefully i can canibalize both and add a few things and make it alot better than it was cause stock with 300 wheel and almost 400lbft didnt go super well at 6500 rpm 🤣

He beats the hell out of his t5s and hardly ever has any problems with them, even popping wheelies over and over pass after pass so that is a really good upgrade because that's exactly what he is doing to mine, that is someag really good information you just put out so keep it coming bud I like informative videos like that

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  2 года назад +6

      There realy "isnt any" tbh. Some T5s suck and are weak for many of the issues listed in video. Some are strong because they have been taken are of, not outta shim and have been rebuilt. Safe HP would be 250 HP... max HP easy 450 rebuilt. #1 thing to consider.... how you drive it.

    • @thatguy83ful
      @thatguy83ful 2 года назад +1

      How you drive it is right. A sure way to destroy it is to heat it up. If you beat on it from first to second thru a short course race track or neighbor hoods. It tends to eat a synchro. Turning donuts for a long period of time can damage it too. Anything that gets it hot and then you bearing down on it with a healthy amount of torque and horsepower. Usually doesnt help it. Great video . Think you should of added a few of the details you struggled with the first few t5s you ever built. Like putting the tail on with detent ball n shifter block. And putting keys in to synchros etc. Some one will find those details helpfull when they tackle the job for the first time.

    But if you get many requests like this one please consider...

Plan to tear open what I got to check it before ordering a rebuild kit. Are there tell tales for the synchros?
