Don't think that you are not being an effective science comunicator. You react to all sorts of popular content but you don't really miss a chance to delve deeper into science aspects of the content you react to. That has a really useful trait that it lost on science centric channels. You reach people who aren't specifically looking for science. I am a fan of Neal DeGrasse Tyson but he is not getting watched by people who arent into science already, you are. Keep up the good work man!
Also it's a lot harder than ppl give it credit for. Quite literally everyone has a unique way of learning, even if some people seem to have similar enough ways of learning. To be able to teach a lot of people effectively is very difficult
If you don't 'yap' during a reaction, it isn't a reaction, it's a quiet watch-a-long. We like hearing your thoughts and ideas.

I think there's definitely a difference between a thoughtful reaction and actually yapping about non-sense.

Being several months into getting my Masters, let me make it clear that I have been "peer reviewed" quite a few times and that some of those reviews can be absolutely brutal. I can also attest that NDT was not only incredibly professional but unbelievably gentle in his review of Terrance Howard's treastise. Not only would it be an honor to be peer reviewed by that man, but he happens to have given some of the kindest words I've ever heard in an academic review. He wasn't even remotely blunt and the fact that THIS was what Howard considered getting thrown shade makes me wonder what he would think of an ACTUAL peer review.
Im not a scientist, but even as a layman that tinkers with tech, I can tell that Neil was probably the kind of revveiw that I would hope to get. It came off as levelheaded and direct, and even says "Hey this doesn't seem correct, but the way you go about looking for this answer and feeling this question burning inside you is incredible."
If we could get that level of review in plain society, a lot of people would probably walk away thinking "I'll run this a new way, let me go back to this tomorrow"

The most upsetting thing about this stuff is how easy it is for people to trust because "institutions bad." My dad has 30 years in heavy equipment operation. He knows enough about the field that the engineers on projects come to him for advice when there's a snag. Like 2 weeks ago he brought up Terrence Howard to me and I was genuinely at a loss for words. My younger brother and I spent like over an hour talking to him about it before he finally conceded that a lot of it doesn't really align with thing he's literally built his career on.
Cult leaders and charlatans throughout history have always preyed on people who want an alternative to the status quo. Whether its kool-aid hippie communes or celebrities selling vagina crystals like modern snake oil, its always been tragically easy to ensnare the disillusioned by promising them something "better" than what they currently have.
I'm going through a similar thing in college right now. Me and all of the students in my class love history, but when it comes to choosing topics or discussing projects and we find we are wrong about what happened, or what we thought happened, it's very easy to get frustrated. Only those who actually learn from this lack of knowledge are actually finding the point to the classes though, and unfortunately I don't know if those who don't will find that out before they graduate. There's a real danger here, especially with the internet, when anyone can get propped up as a genius, that when they discover they aren't, they get angry and lash out at anything/anyone that tells them they are wrong. Regardless of whether that critism was constructive or not.
Really great to see your thoughts on this, as with Tyson's.

Nobody is, we are all guilty at some of point of Dunning-Kruger effect.

About the AI talk
I think Rubber Ross put it best. In one of his videos, where he talks about AI, he says that he believes the focus of developing AI should've been done with the purpose to augment humans instead of replacing them.
But, I guess it's not only easier to develop it to replace humans, but it's also easier to market it to unaware higher ups with the false promise of the distorted utopia that is a world where the same higher ups can just replace everyone of their staff with robots and AI.

Well even with the goal of augmentation you'll reach the point where one person can do the job that 10 or more people were previously required to do, making those people redundant. So any way you look at it, people are going to be replaced in the name of efficiency.

His main note would probably be to do more cocaine starting out, but yeah. Having someone notable in your area of expertise/art/whatever review your work is usually quite an honor.
People talking about the Dunning-Kruger effect, is, in a weird paradox, an example of its supposed self. It's actually not the line graph that people mention, nor is it a unique effect that has been (properly and extensively) studied
I honestly really like how you explain a bit of science during your reaction videos. I know not everyone will like it but I personally love science so any time I can hear about it, I’ll pay attention.

Since your a Soulsgames Fan and played the Bethesda Games, i recommend the RUclipsr Ymfah. He just finished a "guide" on how to clear Dark Souls 2 without WALKING. So no WASD or left stick alternativly. He did that already for several games and some challenges are just stupid with autistic level of problem solving in the mix, combined with cool music and only text subs that describes what he does. He also did a Top Gear Episode on Dark Souls 2 with AI once and it was genius

your intro reminded me of a sciencey series you might be interested here on youtube called Alien Biospheres by biblaridion. It's a video series that covers a lot of science related to the evolution of life told through the medium of speculating the evolutionary process on another planet.
The series recently concluded so it's a good time to watch it if you are interested. If you react to it I would love to watch your vidoes on it.

I don't feel bad at all, Act Man was right to say what he did, and he wasn't the only one. Its dangerous to form conclusions based on a lack of evidence. Once you have more evidence its fine to change your opinion based on that. Its not so much about protecting the person accused, its about protecting critical thought and the burden of proof.

Tbh i don't think that engaging with nonsensical matters in a scientific context is appropriate (i.e. giving it the status of statements worth answering, socially validating it). Instead, you should either remain silent or give an answer like this here: "Terrence Howard Debates Neil deGrasse Tyson w/ Joe Rogan"😏 But most importantly, incorporating elements of scientific methodology into education from an early age is absolutely essential.. especially in times of such a glaring crisis in education and the authority of science, which stems from a lack of understanding of what scientific method actually is.. It's always weird when people who have some full-on guano ideas like this Tyson guy turn around and call others out for their guano nonsense. Although he's obviously right here, I don't like the guy. I don't like so much about him, not just the fact he claims to be in favour of reason, yet still struts up and down the stage like a southern baptist preacher, only missing a handkerchief to mop his brow. So often, he more preaches whatever he's talking about than explaining it.

In what way was academia pushed as being the end all and be all?
Of course scientific breakthroughs happened outside of it, but it doesn't change the fact that you and others should be able to reproduce your findings and that documenting them are important, reasons why I brought the examples of Sammelweis and Tesla

@@peteturabo9278 example is as mentioned in the very beginning of the video, sites can make you of community notice - just like when I make a claim in my videos - I add visual proof of my statement - especially if it is something scientific... When I make a mistake, I always leave a pinned comment correcting myself or pin a comment someone who knew more than I left.
In the case of Rogan, as I pointed out in the video, simply asking a person to provide proof for their extraordinary claims goes a long way... He has 3+ hours rambling with a person who makes banks of off peoples distrust of the establishment, the least he can do is verify if anything in his conversation is actually true.
