I'm not a Science geek, but I love this. Howard is either out of his mind, or a freeking genious. Eric, is brilliant as always. Calmlly esplainning and questionning, not letting the conversation go into bulls*t with a lot of respect
Shit. No doubt. Maybe we will get subtitles of normal person language. Trying to listen to somewhere between super genius and madman is a hard thing to digest mentally.
I've never seen someone take criticism with as much grace and lightheartedness as Terrence. This is his identity right now, and even under the microscope, he doesn't lose composure.
Huh he has got one the most respected mathematicians in front of him, he knew to shut up and listen. So he could learn- he was making the most of his time
The amount of respect, patience, and calm consideration in this conversation, on everyone’s part, is so rare, and just as valuable as the topics. Truly a rare pleasure.

Appreciate Eric for that, Joe awesome egoless display of not needing to interject, and Terrence with the vulnerability and openness to learning and understanding, and Jamie, always bringing up exactly what's needed and totally on the money. Gotta love it. What a team effort that was. Appreciate everyone.
good post, i agree actually 100%. Team effort to make this classic podcast.. That said, i'm beginning to believe that the black brain is just built different. Not being mean, it just seems that there's something missing in each and everyone of them.
"Jamie pull up a calculator...type in a 5. Now type in an 8. Now type in 0...and another 0. Now type in one more 8. Turn the calculator upside down...see???"
He knows math, his recalls of knowledge is insane. He's saying, there's something wrong with Math, cause how the universe works doesn't match with conventional Math like 1*1=1 is not present in how the universe works.
That makes no sense because you would have been listing to this on a mobile device that you can take with you outside your car. It's not like JRE is played on the radio. Also, why would you have to stop moving to listen to sound. That would make driving in a real car outside in traffic impossible.
You cannot have a sincere conversation with a narcissist. You seem to be taking Howard's verbal behavior at face value. But a narcissist never uses language to communicate, always to manipulate (other people's perceptions and behavior) in order to obtain narcissistic supply (attention) in order to prop up his sense of self.
As someone from this field I wish more per reviews were done this way! Two people just having a drink and challenging each other ideas without any malice or hate
Shout out to Jamie this episode! Our boy was researching, spelling and deciphering the most complex subjects known to mankind! While delivering the coffee and whiskey. You’re the man!
Gotta give respect to these three guys for having an open conversation with no animosity or malice just good vibes. Much respect. We need more of this in the world.
No podcast in history has whiskey, singing, a harmonica, geometry, physics, algebra, magnetism, electricity with an actor, a scientist and... I would go on but I think you get my drift. Astonishing.
I spent 4 hours last night continuously thinking I was just on the verge of understanding jack crap about this video. Woke up this morning and realized I was the guy Rogan talked about when he said, “Shout out to all the homies trying to figure out what the fuck is going on”.
@@Hogstrictors Terence is not into learning, so it's a futile excersize. He is like a flat earther, all he wants to hear is that he has some kind of special knowledge that no one else has.
The most important aspect of this particular podcast (imho) is not what science we got to the bottom of but instead how two people who have different backgrounds/ideas/educations/ethnicity/expertise etc. etc. CAN come together and discuss their differences and enlighten one another without getting shitty and taking shots at one another. I’m amazed that two men who I thought had big ego problems were able to be friendly and respectful while still being honest. That’s the most awesome thing about this whole discussion to me.
I don't get why Howard needs to be handled with kiddie gloves. If some delusional charlatan came in and tried to pontificate on comedy or martial arts Joe would humiliate him. Howard is delusional and arrogant, there's no value to his ideas. As an undergraduate student in math it's extremely obvious to me that he has never bothered cracking open an undergraduate textbook in math and tried to actually learn something, some of the things he says are extremely stupid. It's fine to call out his stupidity without euphemisms.
@@Big_Dip1bc we are able to have an open dialogue of different critical thought and presenting questions that entertain a different train of thought. Remember reality is only factual based upon our realm of existence and understanding from our own lens. But that’s not to say there aren’t other laws and theories that prove otherwise with more new findings as we evolve as a species. Reality is only a social construct as we agree as a collective but true science is entertaining all ideas of critical thought and hypothesis whether it exists now in the past or in the future. We forever can expand our mind. So, it’s nice to see a professor who’s beholden to the constraints of the academia system and peer review and those who have powers against disrupting their educational findings to listen and discuss alternative theories while maintaining prestige.
I am by no means a math expert. However, I have taught many music students. Terrence Howard reminds me of a very intelligent student who really wanted to learn a lot about music theory (i.e. chords, scales, etc.) This student had watched lots of videos and maybe even read some materials about music theory. What I noticed about his understanding of the topic was that he had learn a lot of names of things, but didn't really have a real understanding of the basics in a way that other musicians would agree on. If your fundamental understanding of a topic is misguided, then often times the dots won't be connected correctly. In the case of my student, I had to really reset his understanding of the basics and explain it in every way possible way that would prove the universally understood concepts.
I've been here for an hour, didn't even get to the podcast yet, the comments are absolute *GOLD.* My neck hurts and my face is exhausted, these comments are fantastic. 😂
I only came for the comments, I couldn't listen to Terrence longer than 1 minute last video. That level of insane and confident ignorance gets my blood boiling.

In a way I am quite grateful to Terrance Howard, I saw his crazy ideas and was intrigued so i listened to the podcast and came away thinking "there must be more to mathematics that i have never considered? I haven't thought about maths since school." Then I watched his conversation with Eric Weinstein where they discuss geometry and some unsolved physics in mathematics and i wondered ... are things not concretely proven in maths? Today... A year on.... I am 4 chapters into The Emperors New Mind by greatest living mathematician Roger Penrose. I've covered topics such as Hilbert's problems, Turing Machines, imaginary numbers, The Mandelbrot Set, The nature of infinity, Canters infinite sets, set theory and Plato's realm of the forms and aperiodic tiling problems and i'm not even half way through the book. Because of Howard, although silly - he really drived the point home to me that mathematics and reality are linked in a very strange and beautiful way and its a shame that school completely omits to teach you this - as if I had known about this connection between reality and maths earlier on - I probably would have worked a lot harder in maths...

This isn’t a disagreement. Terrence is wrong. Pure and simple. No disagreement. After this conversation it’s safe to easily dismiss Howard without feeling bad about it one bit
All four hours of this episode was fantastic. Joe was great at letting Eric & Terrence talk it out while keeping the conversations light and providing comedic relief from time-to-time. This is how debates should be handled & Eric Weinstein was very respectful throughout his persistent explanations. Bravo
And what Eric said at the end about Joe's podcast being as important as it is really shows how true that is just based on this 4 hour show alone. This is where we all need to be. No yelling, backstabbing, just honest, helpful conversation.
Absolutely and fuair play to weinstein he is a very good teacher to have the patience to understand where someone is at. And meet them there and help them work through it. Absolutely wondefful. And it is an indication that de grasse tyson does not have that patience or skill in his teaching style which is just telling how it is from his own perspective. So i really admire weistiens ability here to really listen to where terrence is st because he is at a very difficult place where he has these associations and complex but not underpinned maps in his mind. Thats a true teacher right there.

everything terrance is saying is true but it goes way deeper and i can explain everything he is saying and more Weinstein is of course lying and mocking the truth 1 x 1= 2 simply means 1 plus 1 = 2 2 is an issue because technically all is 1 . very simple . also 1 is not a number in numerology so basically numbers dont exist names dont exist, numbers are letters
I've watched every episode of Joe's podcast and by farthest episode with Terrance Howard is my favorite. The way he explains these things is totally captivating. I can listen to him speak for hours. Yeah Terrence is on to somthin here. I understand the idea but I'm still trying to think of an experiment to prove it. I was thinking something like the slit experiment but use a circle instead. See if it shows his projected pattern. But it would need interference like in nature. Maybe a perspex sheet over the circle slit??? To see how it would effect matter would be harder tho because of gravity so maybe the way our solar system travels through our galaxy mite be proof enough...

Honestly Eric has disrespected Terrence so many times, he talks about his brain like he's a psychologist now. he is so defensive I was uncomfortable, I think, I think, but he never manages to explain Terrence's work mathematically. he says to stop acting like a professor when he does exactly that and without respect. Terrence was really strong and polite throughout despite Eric's repeated insults. plus he doesn't know the flower of life, that's funny

In a way I am quite grateful to Terrance Howard, I saw his crazy ideas and was intrigued so i listened to the podcast and came away thinking "there must be more to mathematics that i have never considered? Then I watched his conversation with Eric Weinstein where they discuss geometry and some unsolved physics in mathematics and i wondered ... are things not concretely proven in maths?

I've covered topics such as Hilbert's problems, Turing Machines, imaginary numbers, The Mandelbrot Set, The nature of infinity, Canters infinite sets, set theory and Plato's realm of the forms and aperiodic tiling problems and i'm not even half way through the book.
Because of Howard, although silly - he really drived the point home to me that mathematics and reality are linked in a very strange and beautiful way and its a shame that school completely omits to teach you this - as if I had known about this connection between reality and maths earlier on - I probably would have worked a lot harder in maths...

Eric: In my head it does.
This felt like Terrance Howard was in the principals office for 4 hours 😂

1 x 1= 2 simply means 1 plus 1 = 2
2 is an issue because technically all is 1 . very simple . also 1 is not a number in numerology
so basically numbers dont exist names dont exist, numbers are letters

Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣!
More likely to be a parody on GTA6
fink dibble too
wait what? This isn't southpark channel?
truly, this what i was been thinking, terrence right now is such a south park material XDD
I've watched every episode of Joe's podcast and by farthest episode with Terrance Howard is my favorite. The way he explains these things is totally captivating. I can listen to him speak for hours. The way this episode was conducted was fantastic. I have a whole new respect for Eric Weinstien for not coming into this negatively.
Gotta give Terrance respect for bringing forth an idea and also accepting criticism like a gentleman
whilst everyone is trying to sh*t on him
You know who deserves MORE respect? People who know 1*1=1
@@dannymartial7997 eh quit bein a slave to the government and following what youve been forced to follow😁, why watch if youre going to be so close minded?
Yeah Terrence is on to somthin here. I understand the idea but I'm still trying to think of an experiment to prove it. I was thinking something like the slit experiment but use a circle instead. See if it shows his projected pattern. But it would need interference like in nature. Maybe a perspex sheet over the circle slit???
To see how it would effect matter would be harder tho because of gravity so maybe the way our solar system travels through our galaxy mite be proof enough...
U know he’s an actor right? He lied and cried about Neil telling him constructively he’s wrong
Debates like this should be a common practice, 'stead of censorship and shadow banning.
Do not gag, do not ridicule, just point out the issues and allow the truth to shine through.
That's how it's supposed to be... somehow we have become a society of if you don't believe my view and ideology then you are a scum of the earth and every name they can throw at you ... then ridiculed, canceled and destroyed. I feel people are finally seeing through it though

What harsh truths? Eric spend 4 hours talking and never answered Rogans question. “Is anything Howard said incorrect”
