  • In today's podcast, Natalie Edmonson from Berean Holiness is joining us to talk about her experience growing up in a Holiness Movement. Her journey to finding the actual teachings of the Bible that eventually led to leaving the group brings vital insights into the danger of adding teachings to the Bible.

Love this episode so much! Natalie I appreciate how smart you are with the help of the Lord so much good stuff to start studying that it not brought up in these movements to consider

Yes very healing and refreshing: these movements are some damaging which you don’t realize until you actually start studying and thinking

I just lived through this. There are so many similarities. I was love bombed by all these suma cum laude rich people, got all these good jobs, marry my daughters, but when they learned of my eternal security foundation i was viciously blacklisted.

When I was in the holiness movement there were so many that wouldn't call the church out on things. Since most don't have another holiness church nearby to switch to they would literally move away to find another church. And they would never say they were moving to go to another church. No one would take a chance on speaking out against a pastor. I heard so many holiness pastors complain about deacon boards.

On the shorts vs skirt issue, I asked someone in the movement about the inconsistency. She said it would be indecent for men to show their leg hair (implying that it's okay because women shave their legs). I was shocked by that answer, to say the least.

That's interesting...maybe that's why some groups require floor-length skirts-they're not supposed to shave their legs (it was frowned upon in my group, for example). -Naomi

John Wesley NEVER taught sinless perfection. Wesley taught that a person could get to the point where a person no longer consciously sins, but that a person can sin unconsciously. That's much different than sinless perfection.
