The 2.8 sounds nice and smooth. I'd much rather drive the em-kay-free every day. The exhaust on the .:R is a deal breaker for me...
But, I currently drive a 660cc 3 cylinder. So, I'd gladly drive either VR.

i had the same problem with my polo from 1995 1.3 55 hp when i was driving 170 downhill to set up my record this shit starts blinking and i was like wtf ...checked my handbrake and it was lacking some fluid

What kind of shifting is the MK3 driver doing. I hear almost if not letting off the accelerator between shifts.
Agreed, put the R32 driver in the GTi, that would be a better match set.
From 0-100 they did pretty much the same time because the R32 mk4 was already moving at 10 kph when the mk3 VR6 was not yet moving , so the first at 100 kph and the second at 90 with 1 second to spare means they both hit 100 at the same time(this two cars thought, this dont means that this two models do the same 0-100 lol). Check between 1:17-1:18
I'm not a golf fan but this engine sound is absolutely unique.
in my opinion the vr6 it's sounds much better , it's clean and deeper ..and the test it's not fair !! the VR6 it's 2.8 (180.hp) and the R32 it's 3.2 (240 hp) so my conclusion the vr6 it's maybe old ...but it the best !!!

The funny thing is the VR6 2.8L and the R 3.2 are both VR6 engine blocks. The R32 is just bored out more.
Sort of and no!...the 12v 2.8vr6 engine has no interchangeable parts with a 24v 2.8 vr6, the 3.2 is a bored and stroked version of the 24v 2.8vr6

@@sinisakarpa9167 die Meisten Werkangaben schafft man mit leichtigkeit ohne Probleme. Wenn man gute Reifen drauf hat und nicht gerade schaltet wie eine Oma dann geht das sogar sehr einfach.

Power ! I agree the exhaust note nice sound, not like the raspy sound on the VR6 in between shifts I can't stand that shit like all them young kids put a huge coffee can muffler on their rice burners. I am an American car guy especially V8's no sound like my LS2 6.0 liter in my 06' GTO only did basic cold air intake, cat back exhaust and a 160° thermostat a it made a big difference, it really woke up the engine at around 2700 - 3200 RPM. The car pulls like a freight train now in first gear I can't even give it half throttle or it will just tear up the tiers, before the mods it didn't move like it does now. So if you have a LS2 spend about 1200 bucks and do them three things and you will be happy with the results, I really want to have it tuned I that will make the mods I did benefit from each other. Put a LS motor in a VW GTI believe me that would be a nasty GOLF GTI, I would take a VW over a rice burner any day.

Ray Flower still is, if i cant get the golf 3 2 door we have standing that is 1.8l ima sell the 4 door golf 3 1.8l i have at the moment and get a vr6 2 door the reason why im not sure if i can get the 2 door is becouse my brother might will have it unless he rather take the 4 door, and the reason why i maybe just take the 1.8l 2 door is becouse its cheaper then buying a new.

The R32 has a much more dirtier sound than de VR6 but both are jewels from VW. The R32 sound dirtier and more agressive whilst the VR6 sounds sharp and nice.
both cars are very nice I have an MK4 Jetta thinking about doing a VR6 swap still has the original 2.0 liter with over 250,000 miles on it and runs great the body is super clean 17 inch TSW Raceland coilovers black leather interior heated seats power everything including sunroof tinted glass shaved emblems I just need the engine swap

i wonder how different gear ratios are between both cars... also, get Vr6 up to same bhp numbers than that mk.IV is then you can compare then as they should be. its like comparing pears and apples...
Speedo clocks mean nothing! Trust me, on a dyno my bike is way quicker than on the road. My best timed 1/4 was 9.78 the dyno made it seem like thunder. Its what you put down with real times in real conditions. Ill put my bime wheel in a stand and give crazy times. Real world parallel tests please. Watched waiting for side by side standing roll on etc!! Clocks!!??. My arse.

This is warning for low amount of brake fluid. When it tries to come on like that but doesnt light up completely, the brake fluid is around the MIN mark.

Just as a bit of information, people saying they have the same engine is right in one way, but then again-the mk3 vr6 had about 175bhp from the factory and the mk4 r32 has between 210-250 depending on how lucky the person who bought the car is as they seem to vary massively 😂 although of course the mk3 is lighter

2.9 15 degree vr6 that went in the Corrado sounds the best imo.
FWD mk3? Looks like it at least. Might be why there's such an acceleration sinkhole in the beginning compared to the r32

sold the mk3 to buy mods for the mk4 and the mk4 hydrolocked after 5 years or so so i had to break it :(

I had a Passat 35i VR6 back in the day and it would straight run into the limiter in 5th gear on the autobahn. It only had headers and group a exhaust plus i beat the living hell out of it every single day 😂

I believe the MK4 (24 valve) VR6 is faster than the MK3 (12 valve) VR6 shown in this video. I would think that the 24 valve VR6 would be much closer to the R32 times.

So Mitte der 90er fand ich es als damaliger Calibra Turbo Fahrer immer extrem lustig, wenn jemand mit einem Golf VR6 oder 2.9er Corrado VR6 meinte, er hätte ein schnelles Auto unter dem Arsch :D
Wurde ich angeblinkt, bin ich immer rüber auf die rechte Spur, habe ihn beschleunigen lassen, bis er auf gleicher Höhe war und ihn ins entäuchste Gesicht geguckt, wenn ich aufs Gas getreten habe und ihm das Gefühl gab, dass er gerade steht.
Selbst der R32 ist ja gerade mal 0.1 Sek schneller auf 100 als ein serien Calibra Turbo.
Die meisten Turbos hatten allerdings mindestens einen Phase 3 Chip und großen LLK drin und ca. 330 anstatt 204 PS.
Da ist so ein Gölfchen natürlichkein Vergleich mehr. Aber immer noch süß zu sehen, wie die Leute glauben, sie hätten mit einem serien VR6 eine "krass fette Karre" unter dem Arsch! :)

Es gibt Leute wie du die negieren eben Fakten und Tatsachen. Verdrehn alles so lange bis es in ihre Weltanschauung passt. Leider hat es dann mit der Realität nichts mehr zu tun.
Fakt ist ! das ein serienmäßiger Calibra C20LET nie "schneller" von Messwerten war wie sein Pedant der Corrado VR6 mit 190Ps! Das konnte er alleine schon aufgrund des Gewichts nicht sein und die beiden trennen SERIE nur Nuancen.
Ebenso im sportlichen Einsatz zb. bei damaligen Tests auf Rennstrecken sämtlicher Fachmagazine der Corrado trotz! Frontantrieb immer agiler und noch ein Stück besser als Calibra mit Allrad abgeschnitten hat.Weiterhin ist der C20LET ein Turbomotor und damit in "ungedrosselter" Version mit Software oder weiteren Modifikationen überhaupt nicht mit einem Sauger wie dem VR6 zu vergleichen! Wie schlau muss man sein um festzustellen das getunte 300+Ps und massig Drehmoment schneller sind als 190 Sauger Ps mit 245Nm.Ja genau ! Da ist so ein Gölfchen natürlich kein Vergleich mehr! Sehr gut bemerkt!! Nur warum vergleichst du ihn dann!!??
Aber Moment ich rede mal in deiner Sprache. Ein getunter Corrado VR6 Turbo mit sagen wir 500Ps (das ist übrigens das was ein VR6 im Serienzustand mit Serienteilen problemlos wegsteckt! und das untere Ende der Skala beim VR6 Tuning) rasiert schon mit der Leistung so ziemliche jedes Fahrzeug bis in die 700Ps Klasse von heute. Da ist so ein "Calibrachen" natürlich kein Vergleich mehr. Ausser er ist vielleicht Krass getunt EY. Aber bevor es überhaupt dazu kommt das ein Calibra die Chance hat Leistung zu bekommen, ist die Karosse einfach nur weg gefault. Denn im Gegensatz zum krass fetten Opel wurde der Corrado schon damals für die Ewigkeit gebaut & konserviert. Was man heute im Straßenbild sieht ist leider nicht zu leugnen. Der Calibra ist trotz viel! höherer Stückzahlen ein Grotte vor dem Herrn und die ewigen Jagdgründe verschwunden. Eigentlich schade weil es ein bis heute Zeitloses Fahrzeug war. Sich dann aber noch hinzustellen und diesen Rosteimer der bis auf die C20XE/LET Motoen in der Wurzel nichts getaugt hat noch zu feiern....na Hut ab. Opel konnte seit Ende der 80er nur eins- einen guten 16V und den Reihensechser C30SE im Omega. Der Rest- Karossen, Verarbeitung , Materialien waren da schon am Tiefpunkt. Da nützten auch die 5/10tel Beschleunigung nichts mehr.
Komischer Tacho beim VR6, wenn der nach 30 Sekunden schon bei 200 ist 🤔bei VW weiß ich ja dass die gerne vorgehen aber das ist krass.
Man kann Äpfel mit Birnen vergleichen. Nur: ist das sinnvoll?
Gute Leistung vom vr6 wenn man bedenkt das der r32 66ps mehr hat

Genau das habe ich nämlich auch gedacht. Ich denke nicht das viel zwischen den beiden liegt, aber trotzdem macht das einiges aus und erstrecht wenn man die leerräumt innen! ;)
Mich würde noch interessieren, ob der R32 n 4Motion war und der Vr6 auch ein Syncro, oder 4Motion vs. Fwd :P
TheZernichter Der R32 ist ein 4 Motion. Bei dem VR6 gab es zwei Versionen. Einmal den 2.8er mit Frontantrieb (174Ps) und einmal den 2.9er (190Ps) Synchro (Allradantrieb). Im Grunde genommen ist der R32 auch ein VR6, aber halt neuer und überarbeiteter. Die Zylinderanordnung sind aber die gleichen. Es gibt auch ein R36, der wurde aber soweit ich weiß im Passat verbaut und im Porsche Cayenne als 6 Zylinder Variante.

Ich dachte nur, weil der r32 am Start besser wegkam, aber der Vr6 später aufgeholt hat in dem Video, dass das vielleicht am fehlenden Allradantrieb des 3er Golfs lag und der damit einhergehenden enormen Gewichtsersparnis.

Not only the power. The gearbox and clutch make much difference. Listen to the big hole between the 1st and 2nd on the VR6. Then compare to the R32...

Ich finde den R32 ziemlich überschätzt. Der Klang erinnert eher an eine leere Cola Dose, als an ein sportliches Auto. Der Hype ist da auch nur so groß, weil es in der Generation keinen vernünftigen GTI gab.

Der VR6 sollte auch nie ein Rennwagen sein sondern bisschen Luxus mit dickem Motor. Die ersten 16V wie meiner sind dem davon gefahren und haben weniger gesoffen. Bis die begrenzt wurden.
