4:30 Guys, I have a solution to the OBS thing, and I just solved it on my own. The "NDI Source" wasn't working on my system (no clue why, but it is bs, did nothing wrong). What you WANT to do in OBS, without downloading anything else, is use the "Video Capture Device", which is in the same tab as the NDI is supposed to be in. No reason to over complicate it, just do it right the first time. Also, just mute the Audio Mixer for the Elgato, as the Desktop should be accurate with the 4k (More like 1080p for Switch) Capture. You will need 4k to be open while recording, as it allows the connection. Hope this helps others, like if it does!
Features need to be added to 4k utility that Game Capture already had. The ability to edit your clips, cropping them to the right size. it's so much easier to do this in game capture than using outside editing software, especially when you have to go through 50 to 100 clips.
Much happier with my Avermedia Live Duo since I can shadow record a CUSTOM CANVAS of whatever inputs I want, as well as multiple audio inputs! Add custom canvas and multi-track recording and I’ll switch back
Can you bring back the editing system? I loved it in the old game capture, it made everything so much easier than using an outside editor. Yours was easy to use and made the cuts in my video smoother since I could expand the frames to get a small frame cut out.

Sometimes while recordings the recording will freeze/lag/randomly skip. Which makes the separate audio files to not be the same length as the main video audio

Yesterday, i have an issue while recording a 7 hours video with this software because when i finally finished recording Final Fantasy XVI and try to playing it on my library, the video didn't show up only audio yet when i recording shorter like an hour somehow, it doesn't had any problem.
I would love to use this over the Old GCHD Software, but using the HD60 Pro with the 4k Capture Utility, I can notice a slightly larger delay in the preview compared to the preview in OBS studio or the GCHD Software. Will there ever be an update to 4kCU or some sort of Union between 4kCU and GCHD Software?
Hi SilvaShadow, Game Capture HD is now EoL (End of Life), meaning it's no longer being actively developed. It's had a long run and it was time to move on to a new project. We don't currently have plans to bring some of the Game Capture HD features over like streaming or overlays. For those uses, OBS Studio is definitely a great choice. We always suggest playing on a TV/Monitor connected to the HDMI output of your device if you're experiencing delay for playing.

hello, I just got the Elgato hd60x and set it up with the switch but only receives audio. I can hear the joy cons moving, I see the input source as 1080p60 but the screen is black. All in 4k Capture Utility.

You can connect the DisplayPort output from a computer to a capture card using an HDMI adapter. For lower resolutions, these adapters can be pretty inexpensive. But we do not offer a device which natively supports DisplayPort input.

That depends on what you're wanting to achieve. If just the highest quality possible, then the maximum available on the slider. 4K Capture Utility will provide an estimation on file usage on the settings page.

Note: 4K Capture Utility does not support the onboard H.264 Encoder of the Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro. Using HD60 Pro in 4K Capture Utility will use your system's GPU or CPU for recording. Witch app should I use to record with it's encoder?

4k capture utility isn't popping up as a source in obs and I have the "enable stream Link (Beta)' check marked. I have the NDI plug-in installed and working fine. 4k utility just isn't popping up as a source. Any fixes?

i download of this today, and ever since I opened it, it’s made my computer run a little slow and zoomed in on my screen monitor. I literally just opened the app on my computer. I tried deleting it, but I just kept my computer that way. How do I fix?
Wish I could quickly cut up and lower my video from the software and insert it into a 3rd party software. So much more work with separate files like that.

hello, so i hope i can get an answere but i have bought a Hd60s for my ps5 and the hdmi audio splitter because i own the steelreseries wireless pro and i wanted the optical audio output, everything works perfectly now BUT besides streaming i aim to stream to my friends in discord, i cannot share the audio coming from the ps5, it doesnt work via obs and neither does it work via the 4k utility. If i use the 4k utility i want to save both gameplay and my mic but i hear everything dubble i cannot mute the audio on my end. My whole point is audio and mic recordings work very well except when sharing the screen via discord audio doesnt work and there is no function to mute the audio on my end, i can hear myself and the game with a 0.5 ms delay, since i use the same headsets on pc and ps5 i can hear both sounds and it is really annoying. isnt there a function to mute audio on my endso i dont hear eveything dubble?

WHY ISNT HITS AVAILABLE FOR MAC? The explanation of Recording & Flashback is incorrect. You can see when they select the "end point" nothing happens, it just recorded everything from the start point up until live gameplay. What's the actual intention of this flashback feature? Should we be able to create short clips inside the capture software?
I have just installed 4K Capture Utility and have found 2 issues. 1. When trying to set 4KCU as a screen source in Twitch Studio Beta (ver. 0.11.5), it finds a source called "Elgato HD60 S+", but that one can't show the screen. When "[PC name] (4K Capture Utility)" is selected, it does show the screen appropriately, but after changing some settings etc it seems to mess with the video input of 4KCU itself, making the screen captured by my Capture Card extremely blackened out. To fix this, 4KCU has to be restarted. 2. Also, when I open the editing field of the recording's title/game/tags, it automatically creates a weird tag. When I first opened that field, it said the following: Recording title: "Meine großartige Aufnahme" ("my great recording" in German) Game name: "Mein großartiges Spiel" ("my great game" in German) Tags: "großartig" "spiel" ("great" and "game" in German) despite my PC's system language being set to English (my PC was originally in German when bought, though, so that might be interfering). I tried deleting all of those entries, but after reopening, it had a tag being "großartig" but with a garbled version of "ß". Every time I reopen this field, it garbles the garbled part even further, creating a very long tag that is called gro+garbledcharacters+artig. Deleting the tag does nothing, because after saving and reopening it automatically adds the garbled tag anew. Why is this happening? What can I do?
Hi KROW, For the first issue: HD60 S+ can only be used in one app at a time. Be sure that 4KCU is closed while accessing the HD60 S+ in Twitch Studio directly. it separates the game audio and voice audio into there own files, so when in an editor you can have them separate thus being able to adjust them individually
I don’t have any problems with this software running well my only issue is I cannot lower my game or mic audio and also can’t stream on it so I’m having a tough time trying to use this over obs
Hi Jayrod, If you're happy with OBS Studio and used to that, then it's totally fine to stick to that. 4K Capture Utility can stay installed if you wish to control functions of your device or update its firmware.
Hi there, 4K Capture Utility is Windows only. OBS Studio is the best alternative right now for capturing on macOS. HD60 X can be used natively in OBS Studio on macOS.

At 6:48 why is the video file 8.7Gb for a 1 minute 51 second video? Thats much higher than 60 megabits that was selected... that is the same issue I am having. I choose 60 megabits but every minute is like 1.3Gb when it should be more like 450 Megabytes.
Hi there, When this happens, try closing 4K Capture Utility, wait perhaps 30 seconds, and then re-open it. 4K Capture Utility should then fix the file sizes you see on those flashback recordings.

4K Capture Utility supports one capture at a time. You can connect two HD60 X cards at once but only one can be active in 4K Capture Utility at a time. But if you use something like OBS Studio, you can capture from two devices at once.
Hi Hayden, 4K Capture Utility will show what is being received by the capture card. Are you capturing your PC? If so, then it sounds like the wrong display is cloned to your capture card. Or perhaps the wrong display is connected to it. You may need to go into Windows Display Settings and re-arrange your displays.
So I'm extremely confused, my source says its capturing at 2160p 60fps even though I don't have a 4k monitor. It also isn't saying VRR even though it is a VRR device (HD60x) and I see zero options in the settings to change the resolution to 1080p 120fps. Where are the settings for this? I only see recording settings or that Stream Link setting. But Stream Link also doesn't have 1080p 120fps. Why is my VRR not enabled and where / how do you change the Resolution / FPS? Is there another utility? Because this one seems like its missing things
4K Capture Utility won't explicitly show "VRR", but the framerate at the top will change to follow the refreshrate sent from the console. Any options for the source come from the console, so from the perspective of the capture card, the only settings to change is what resolution and framerate it captures at. For instance, 4K60fps from a PS5, you can then set 4K Capture Utility to record at 1440p60 or 30, 1080p60 or 30, or 720p60 or 30. If you want to capture at 120fps, you will 1) need the console set to 1440p 120hz or 1080p 120hz and 2) will need to use software such as OBS Studio.

When I use Flashback recording and go back the clip I wanted to record and I press the red button and then I put it where I want it to stop but the clip wont stop where I wanted it to stop instead it recorded the whole video where I went back and alllll the way to live again.. so confused

4k capture utility isn't popping up as a source in obs and I have the "enable stream Link (Beta)' check marked. I have the NDI plug-in installed and working fine. 4k utility just isn't popping up as a source. Any fixes?

Wish I could quickly cut up and lower my video from the software and insert it into a 3rd party software. So much more work with separate files like that.

This is where the .aaf file can be helpful. hello, so i hope i can get an answere but i have bought a Hd60s for my ps5 and the hdmi audio splitter because i own the steelreseries wireless pro and i wanted the optical audio output, everything works perfectly now BUT besides streaming i aim to stream to my friends in discord, i cannot share the audio coming from the ps5, it doesnt work via obs and neither does it work via the 4k utility. If i use the 4k utility i want to save both gameplay and my mic but i hear everything dubble i cannot mute the audio on my end. My whole point is audio and mic recordings work very well except when sharing the screen via discord audio doesnt work and there is no function to mute the audio on my end, i can hear myself and the game with a 0.5 ms delay, since i use the same headsets on pc and ps5 i can hear both sounds and it is really annoying. isnt there a function to mute audio on my endso i dont hear eveything dubble?
I have a problem. I own 4K60 PRO and it doesn't matter if previewing in OBS or in this 4K Capture software and I still haveinput lag in my preview image. Like, ALOT of input lag.

WHY ISNT HITS AVAILABLE FOR MAC? This is the reason i can't use the opportunity to use the auxiliary input with the Chat Link Pro... because without the Utility Software i can't switch between HDMI Audio oder Analog Audio... is there any other solution for analog audio with the Elgato HD60X in combination with a macbook? The explanation of Recording & Flashback is incorrect. You can see when they select the "end point" nothing happens, it just recorded everything from the start point up until live gameplay. What's the actual intention of this flashback feature? Should we be able to create short clips inside the capture software?
in the old software, game capture, you could go into the edit tab and crop out your clip, this feature has been missing from 4k utility.
I have just installed 4K Capture Utility and have found 2 issues.
1. When trying to set 4KCU as a screen source in Twitch Studio Beta (ver. 0.11.5), it finds a source called "Elgato HD60 S+", but that one can't show the screen. When "[PC name] (4K Capture Utility)" is selected, it does show the screen appropriately, but after changing some settings etc it seems to mess with the video input of 4KCU itself, making the screen captured by my Capture Card extremely blackened out. To fix this, 4KCU has to be restarted.
2. Also, when I open the editing field of the recording's title/game/tags, it automatically creates a weird tag. When I first opened that field, it said the following:
Recording title: "Meine großartige Aufnahme" ("my great recording" in German)
Game name: "Mein großartiges Spiel" ("my great game" in German)
Tags: "großartig" "spiel" ("great" and "game" in German)
despite my PC's system language being set to English (my PC was originally in German when bought, though, so that might be interfering). I tried deleting all of those entries, but after reopening, it had a tag being "großartig" but with a garbled version of "ß". Every time I reopen this field, it garbles the garbled part even further, creating a very long tag that is called gro+garbledcharacters+artig. Deleting the tag does nothing, because after saving and reopening it automatically adds the garbled tag anew.
Why is this happening? What can I do?

For the first issue: HD60 S+ can only be used in one app at a time. Be sure that 4KCU is closed while accessing the HD60 S+ in Twitch Studio directly.
As for #2, we'd probably suggest emailing us about that: help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/requests/new There should be something we can do to clear that up.

How does one adjust the game audio vs the mic audio? My game audio is crazy loud
I’m in the same situation and I’ve been searching for a solution for a while but haven’t been able to learn anything new
it separates the game audio and voice audio into there own files, so when in an editor you can have them separate thus being able to adjust them individually
Use OBS. It allows you to adjust your audio levels for all sources.
I don’t have any problems with this software running well my only issue is I cannot lower my game or mic audio and also can’t stream on it so I’m having a tough time trying to use this over obs

If you're happy with OBS Studio and used to that, then it's totally fine to stick to that. 4K Capture Utility can stay installed if you wish to control functions of your device or update its firmware.

OBS Studio is the best alternative right now for capturing on macOS. HD60 X can be used natively in OBS Studio on macOS.

At 6:48 why is the video file 8.7Gb for a 1 minute 51 second video? Thats much higher than 60 megabits that was selected... that is the same issue I am having. I choose 60 megabits but every minute is like 1.3Gb when it should be more like 450 Megabytes.

When this happens, try closing 4K Capture Utility, wait perhaps 30 seconds, and then re-open it. 4K Capture Utility should then fix the file sizes you see on those flashback recordings.

4K Capture Utility doesn't support overlays. For that you can use OBS Studio which has a robust overlays system.

4K Capture Utility records to a final mp4 file. No need to go through an export process.
Can you use 2 HD60X with this software?
4K Capture Utility supports one capture at a time. You can connect two HD60 X cards at once but only one can be active in 4K Capture Utility at a time. But if you use something like OBS Studio, you can capture from two devices at once.

4K Capture Utility will show what is being received by the capture card. Are you capturing your PC? If so, then it sounds like the wrong display is cloned to your capture card. Or perhaps the wrong display is connected to it.
You may need to go into Windows Display Settings and re-arrange your displays.
So I'm extremely confused, my source says its capturing at 2160p 60fps even though I don't have a 4k monitor. It also isn't saying VRR even though it is a VRR device (HD60x) and I see zero options in the settings to change the resolution to 1080p 120fps. Where are the settings for this? I only see recording settings or that Stream Link setting. But Stream Link also doesn't have 1080p 120fps. Why is my VRR not enabled and where / how do you change the Resolution / FPS? Is there another utility? Because this one seems like its missing things
4K Capture Utility won't explicitly show "VRR", but the framerate at the top will change to follow the refreshrate sent from the console.
Any options for the source come from the console, so from the perspective of the capture card, the only settings to change is what resolution and framerate it captures at. For instance, 4K60fps from a PS5, you can then set 4K Capture Utility to record at 1440p60 or 30, 1080p60 or 30, or 720p60 or 30.
If you want to capture at 120fps, you will 1) need the console set to 1440p 120hz or 1080p 120hz and 2) will need to use software such as OBS Studio.
can any1 tell me please for the love of all thats good, how i can save a recording than is longer than few mins!!....for example i do live streams and use twitch and i'd like the recording of 4k utility to save my 1 or 2 hour longs videos please help me!

Does this happen to anybody else? When I use Flashback recording and go back the clip I wanted to record and I press the red button and then I put it where I want it to stop but the clip wont stop where I wanted it to stop instead it recorded the whole video where I went back and alllll the way to live again.. so confused
same her bro. starting the clip is fine, but it doesnt end where i put the cursor. it records all the way to the end
