- We are back with another build to save you money...sort of...
I mean, this whole situation would probably cost a fair amount also but it's much cheaper than a copicat... and ten times more fiddly to use... and pretty difficult to set up also...
BUT AT LEAST YOU BUILT IT YOURSELF, AYY! hah
It's about the journey, the quest, not the results...
we are joking of course, it was difficult to get it right but we are really happy with the end result and ambience you can create with it is really interesting!
4 tapes, 4 players, LETS MAKE A GIANT SINGLE TAPE LOOP THAT PLAYS ACROSS 4 TAPE HEADS! OKLEEESSS'GOOO!

Epic!
That was some dreamy loops!
When I was a kid I used to put a piece of paper on the record head and was able to record in layers on one tape
wow, very mediative stuff, nice work with tape! ❤
Great stuff lads...
Goddamn this turned out great.
This is great! Thank you! Finally something to watch on youtube and I plan on getting one your machines soon!
Amazing!! Glad i've found your channel
Bloomin’ marvelous lads. Seeing the final piece unfurl slowly was wonderful-I’d totally listen to it in isolation ❤❤❤❤❤
well done! Didn't expect this great result!
this is exactly what i had in mind recently, but with normal cassette decks (frontloader). Stack them and modify a casette so that the tape runs out of it on the sides. Add two wheels/pins between those tape decks to guide the tape up to the other heads. Another variation would be with reel to reel; two cheap stereo tape machine sitting next to each other. I think most important is the max tape speed they can run at, to make the distance between them a usable delay time. Uher report can be vari speed modded rather easy.
and use a mono delay only, so the first send goes to the left IN of the reel, the return is then send to the right IN of the reel = double the delay time.
Interesting idea! if you do ever build such a thing be sure to tag us on Instagram cus we'd would love to see it in action!
impresionante trabajo! gracias
This is insane! I’m a new fan of your work. 🐚🌌!
Marvelous!!!
That sounded lush at the end!! Maybe it would be more reliable with the lip removed from the side of each machine. It seems to be rotating the tape slightly. Love the podcast as well chaps. At least 90% cackle. 😂😂
Big love to you Leigh mate and special thanks for checking out the podcast 👌 you are a true legend
15:00 whats moving the tape ??
incredible!
Looks awesome!
would this work as a guitar effect if I just plugged in the guitar in the input and then connected all the output wires to a jack output? And then in a guitar amplifier.
And is it possible to connect all the speedknobs to a single potentiometer?
I say, speak into it, like one sentence, then leave it running all night, and in the morning see what you've got. Theoretically if you leave it run long enough you'll just have a bed of constant white noise.
this reminds me of steve reich's work
Yo, I don't really get it. If I use 2 players, I need to output audio from both of them? Were to plug it? Pls help😢
Can i use a guitar with this
what is that intro track?
That's the intro music to our podcast "Something About Tapes"
However we have more music of the same genre on the Battery Operated Spotify page 👌
