In this episode of the El Camino Honda body swap series, we kick things off by installing the hood on the El Camino. However, things take a turn when we discover rust that makes the hood unusable. After trying out some quick-release latches and not liking the result, I decide to order a new hood, which will save time and make the build even better in the end.
Taking a break from the build, I hit the water with a good friend, running up and down some local rivers. It’s great to relax and have some fun when we should be working!
Back in the garage, I turn my attention to my 1965 GMC 2500. I install a new set of valve covers and a matching air cleaner from Holley Performance. The new parts look awesome!
To wrap things up, we install a custom lip on the El Camino's front bumper by retrofitting a newer Chevy truck lip. It took some cutting and plastic welding, but we made it happen, and I couldn’t be happier with the result!

Every G body needs a fiberglass cowl hood
If you can find them, a set of Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport headlights can be used to convert to a composite headlight setup. Should fit the existing grille with just a couple of brackets made to attach to the existing core support.
This build is looking really good!!! The valance off the bumper looks great too, you’ll get it figured out…

I love finned stuff... my k5 with 454, I have finned oil pan, valve covers and air cleaner... but mine are not painted... so I am going to paint yellow to match my blazer
Love the front lip. I used a 70s van lip on a 70s ford truck. Nice touch
I always try to paint waterpumps, from ny the rust fast. Them inner fenders would look really nice satain black.

I have a project idea!: 1980-1988 AMC Eagle Wagon or sedan (same wheel base) mated with a more modern awd car like maybe a subaru wagon or a trashed Tour X buick! Or some sort of Chrysler or jeep

Good call on the hood; sometimes you just gotta ask yourself 1) How long would it take me to fix it & 2) What's my time worth?!

When i was a very small child my dad had a white 63 Chevy with tool bodies in place of the stepside fenders. Maybe that's why i love your shop truck so much. I kinda want one now. Been watching you since you painted Kyle's hatch. Love the channel, keep being you bro. 💯

Coming together really nice. So all hail the algorithm, are you going to keep the bumper chrome, or paint/wrap? If you extend the lower valance to the bottom of the fender you are getting awfully close to a Monte SS front end look...cheers, thanks for the videos.

You could spend ya a few hundred bucks on a couple dry pour concrete tires paths 8”x 12’ long and get off that sandy flo rida grass. You’ve heard of dry pour concrete right ? Ole dude down in Louisiana dry poured him an entire concrete pad and he had to import his own sand base lol..
Looking good man, liking the progress. some euro lights would look super dope in that grill, like from the newer cutlass or caprice models, maybe something else would fit too, not sure. Keep up the good work!
Man I'm telling you by the Rust-Oleum aircraft paint remover buy it by the gallon spread it on let it set a minute or two and then it will scrape right off
Why didn't you just hit a boneyard for a hood latch out of a Honda or even a Chevy of the El Camino era and fit it in? With all the other crazy fitting you've done, that would be trivial.
That hood wasn't a bad price at all! Cheaper than hoods on most new cars.
The rectangular air filter could be used by anyone converting an older vehicle over, as it wouldn't be too hard to build a box for it feeding either a throttle body or a carb.
Btw you should definitely get Kyle's input on the turbo and drivetrain stuff. Also would love to see your boat in a vid with his K swap jet boat. The lip definitely needs a filler panel but i must say this build is taking shape better than i imagined.

Please tell me your gonna fix the rear camber, looks a little goofy imo. Anyhow love the build series has I am a Honda fan and like the elco aswell.
Normally, you would have to have a mullet to drive in El Camino. but with a Honda subframe and all that would you need to go buy a bubble tea?
Maybe it's just the camera angle but check out the left rear wheel, it just looks like it's turning to the left slightly. Enjoying your channel.
I think this would look amazing in an emerald low rider style paint job. Lots of pin stripes and glitter. Sheeeeesh.

I have a new precision 58 58 pte turbo with the billet wheel ext I can give ya a killer deal on too help out with the build if interested jst lmk also have other turbo goodies
Or a precision 7668s turbo also new but my little girl managed too accidentally knock it over and it cause one of the fins on the compressor side bend alil at the tip easily fix it or quick wheel swap ext but I will give a great price on it aswell due too the slight damage or I can order and change the wheel if needed
