As a guy who put in a stressful day at work to come home and see this video recently uploaded made my day. As a guy who turns 53 in October, gosh how much I can relate to this video. Empire and all the toys were my favorite toys ever
This is such an awesome video! When I go to RUclips to look for video critiques about toys and pop culture, this is what I am looking for! Well Done Tony! I’m happy I could help get this one going! 🎉thank you for the shout out! You are an awesome friend!
I love the background music from the old, television commercials showing original star wars toys. Such wonderful memories from the best science fiction movies selling the best toys in history. 😊
I like the old ads as well. I also like the way that they show child actors portraying the roles of children playing with the toys, as with some other toy ads from that era. I particularly like the way in the early Star Wars ads that they show both boy and girls playing with the toys together, which is something that must have been rare to see at the time. May the Force be with You
I played the hell out of my Star Wars toys and it drives me nuts that I lost so many accessories. A complete example of Zuckus looks weird to me, and a Yoda that's in his dark brown pajamas with no accessories looks right. But somehow I never lost those 2 boxes that levitate on the Dagobah playset. Important safety tip: when your mom tells you to pick up all the parts from the Jawa Droid Factory or she's going to throw them away, PICK THEM UP. A Droid factory that's a base and a crane with no Droid parts looks about right to me😅
This video takes me back. My grandmother lived in a small town ,and on a visit to see her we went to the local Ben Franklin store, where I found and she bought me the Death Star playset. Got it home and found it was missing parts. Contacted Kenner and they said the Death Star was out of production and sent me a catalog with toys I could get as a replacement. I got boba fett's Slave I ship and this dagobah playset.
The Yoda action figure came out in his own wave in July 1980, about four months after the initial 10 figure ESB wave. The toy catalogs included it as a part of the 1981 wave.
That was really great man. I recently bought and sourced parts to put a Dagobah playset together. It is just like the one I had as a kid. Still have my Bespin Luke and Yoda from childhood. They fit in so nicely.
Dagobah always reminds me of the forest that Castle Grayskull lurked in in the old artwork that went out for the 1980s Masters of the Universe toys, storybook mini comics and other promo stuff back in the 1980s. In fact in same of the close up shots Yoda looks just like something or someone from MOTU. Also I'll add the version of EMSB that I own is the 2006 DVD, and yes I do main use disk 2, no I'm not an old stuck in the mud, I'm just saying.... Lastly has anyone out there spotted the homage to the reptile on the Dagobah playset that is found on the DC Primal Age Batcave (I use it as Dark Mountain, which is Skeletor's abode as I don't have a Snake Mountain for my Origins figures, although I do own a Castle Grayskull, plus a few add on bits, but sadly not any of the convention exclusives) that can be found at the back of the playset in the shape of a small lizard? May the Force be with You
Bespin Luke also is my favourite figure and even when all my others are packed away this figure remains out on display. Awesome video thanks that really captures the imagination 👍👍👍
1:21 the thing I missed as a kid (who grew up in the absolute epicenter of Star Wars greatness-I saw A New Hope in late 1977 a few months short of 6 years old) Anyhow what I missed with my play sets was placing them in the midst of everyday, around the house items that would’ve greatly plussed up that play set’s world. Like nestling Dagoba in mom’s houseplants. Or playing Cloud City amongst all of that wonderful opaque pink, powder blue and even mint green Tupperware that was prevalent in every American kitchen circa 1980. I had the Death Star play set. How much cooler would it have been set up around dad’s Fender guitar amps or 1960’s tool boxes?
Damn this was awesome! Bespin Luke was my favorite figure as a kid as well, but I never had this playset and had NO IDEA how many incredible features it had - great, great video - thanks man!
That Bespin Luke was my first OG Kenner figure since I started collecting vintage. Couldn't think of a better one to start off with. Great retrospective mate!
God I love this video, brought back a lot of good memories. I remember my grandmother on my mom’s side got this for me along with a few other Star Wars toys including the Troop Transporter and the Dewback. Thank you for the awesome video and trip down memory lane!
Excellent Star Wars Dagobah retrospective mini documentary, Tony. As I have often mentioned, although I love the original three movies, I have never collected the action figures, vehicles or playsets. But through wonderful videos like this one, I can fully appreciate how fantastic they are, why SO many fans collect them and how their appeal will last forever.
That 80s Yoda was a brilliant figure. I still have the original, but sans all of the wonderful accessories sadly. Bespin Luke was my favorite too. 😊 not sure why lol. We had a lot of Star Wars but never had the play set. We had the Hoth turret one. Great video my friend ❤️
Awesome. I got this set for Christmas in 81. I want to get a replacement. I had all my child hood toys in several boxes in the gradge. The family went on vacation and we got robbed and the gradge was emptied.
I had no idea there were so many play features in this set. This was a wonderful video with your passion for kenner and Stan Solos integration really shinning. I was having a rubbish morning. This has put me in a good mood. Cheers
Upon a recent return to my parents' home, I re-encountered non-yellowed 1977 Farmboy Luke after nearly a half century. Yellow light saber intact but chewed on end. Dad lovingly installed a spinal screw, but the head is currently missing! What a world, what a world! Tony and Toy Federation make reconfiguration possible. Tour continues...
Tony, great video as always! Your attention to detail is always appreciated. I was always more drawn to the Hoth sets and Imperial sets, so I passed on this one as a kid (Kid me didn't always make the best choices) but its pretty darn cool to see the amount of play features put into the Dagobah set.
I remember when my friend down the street got the Degobah play set. Ran over to his house and we couldn’t stop freaking out over the sponge mud. Good times!
Another gr8 video. Thanks, Tony (like we're on a 1st name basis) Btw, it needs to stand that you've been a huge StanSolo from way back & I hope they show YOU some love for all the love you've shown THEM. That new Luke is pitch damn perfect. Masterpiece.
I spent so much time playing with the Dagobah playset as a kid, and for me is the best Kenner ever produced for Star Wars, great video sir...Also, unfortunately I will have to pass on that Stan Solo R2-D2/Chewbacca two pack, as I'm afraid I might end up on some sort of list.
I still have about 98% of the Star Wars figure accesories from my childhood, but somehow managed to lose everything that came with Yoda. Thank God for the Retro collection.
Years ago I bought the brown snake Yoda on a perfect ROTJ card. I would never had paid the price, but it was on my bucket list. I had a focus on Luke Bespin, or actually Luke Dagobah and I own several hair dudes 😉 It was and still is my favorite figure because of the iconic TESB and the look of.... Luke. I am glad that you have the same feelings about this figure, Yoda and R2 and the Dagobah playset. Nice review!
Note to future generations: If you leave home for school or service, pack up all your toys and put them away lest someone else dispose of them. So much stuff... gone...
This has always been one of my favourite playsets, Like most my swamp area has disintegrated into a pile of dust and I have lost the accessories. One day I will track them down to complete the set
My little brother had the set when I was a kid. I honestly preferred to join my best friend outside and set up shop near any uprooted tree trunk or root ball to play Dagobah. Since we never followed the movie script the potential of the local shrubbery was greater.
[53 YO] I remember seeing this on the Toy shelf and thinking, "That looks like a Smurfs mushroom house, pretty much" [as a little kid, a Star Wars Vehicle/Playset was a MAJOR purchase] and I knew my Dad would prob rip on me calling it a 'Dolls house' too. I thought the Cloud Car was one of the worst/lamest vehicles, but I got a 2nd hand one. I agree with M.French that it's a bit weird they never made a Bespin playset, but I'd make one out of cardboard as a kid and polystyrene packaging as Hoth trenches [Driving my Mum nuts, as the little beads would get EVERYWHERE]
I love when you and Michael from Retroblasting do videos like this because I’m from Cincinnati, and my buddy’s dad worked at Kenner. He always brought home doubles of figures and vehicles. It was such an integral part of my childhood and the beginning of my action figure love❤️Thanks Tony🤙🏻
Whenever I see that Luke figure I think about the Christmas morning I got it. I loved it, but then my little sister put gum on his head. Naturally I responded by putting gum in my sister’s hair. Memories❤
3:13 He also used it waiting by the door to Echo Base when Luke didn't return. Back in the day, I thought Lucas kept adding functions to R2 just to make Kenner come out with different versions.
Fantastic video. I had this set back in the day. You'll hate me for this but it was possibly my least favourite Star Wars toy and got neglected, and eventually made landfill. The Branch that clips around Luke could be used to hold him in the 1 handed handstand pose while he levitates the crates to recreate the scene in the movie ;)
That Luke action figure is almost the spitting image of my little brother when he was a teenager & his name is even Lucas or Luke for short. Just thought it was kinda cool. Lol
Has that post production Luke that you showed with the belt buckle and the detailed boots ever been discovered? Clearly one existed from the pic. That would be a holy grail for sure
“Battle damage” implies a warrior surviving a battle, whereas “crash damage” implies a teenager who bagged up the wheels and put it in someone’s front yard
Great video, but I always thought this was a needless playset. You could get the swamp effect just as well in any patch of backyard or a flower pot. The play features just move figures around in ways that are easier to do by hand. The Dagobah scenes were important to the story but not very exciting. (On the other hand, from Kenner's standpoint, I'm guessing this was cheap to produce and had a good profit margin -- it sold for $11 which today would be about $44.)
As a guy who put in a stressful day at work to come home and see this video recently uploaded made my day. As a guy who turns 53 in October, gosh how much I can relate to this video. Empire and all the toys were my favorite toys ever
A kid in my kindergarten class gave me the Dagobah playset and I had no idea what it was. He just said "Yoda's House."
This is such an awesome video! When I go to RUclips to look for video critiques about toys and pop culture, this is what I am looking for! Well Done Tony! I’m happy I could help get this one going! 🎉thank you for the shout out! You are an awesome friend!
Glad you enjoyed it man and thanks again!
Things I did not expect to see today: Wookie on Droid action
At least he used protection.
Nobody ever expects to see that.
I love the background music from the old, television commercials showing original star wars toys.

Amazing production value in this video. Thanks, mate.
Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back is a masterpiece everything about this film is perfect
Awesome video, Tony. This was such a great playset and I’m glad you got this pristine example from Drew.
Oooh yes! Bespin Luke was my favorite! I loved the “accurate’” lightsaber molded on his thigh! What a great figure! Love your videos!
Incredible work, Tony. It's one of your best so far. Thanks to @DrewG809
I played the hell out of my Star Wars toys and it drives me nuts that I lost so many accessories. I always learn something new watching your videos (Emily). And really enjoy them too! Keep doing a fantastic job!!
This was a extraordinary! So glad you were able to have a set thanks to the generous Drew G. Great work in the breakdown, Tony!
Well researched video tony with excellent editing and scripting thanks tony

Emily is actually inscribed in two places on this playset. Not only on the lizzard, but on the snake by the lever that hold levitating luke too 👍🏼
Man, as a kid the commercial for this play set literally inspired as much daydreaming as the actual movies….nostalgia is a drug LOL, nice video
The Yoda action figure came out in his own wave in July 1980, about four months after the initial 10 figure ESB wave. The toy catalogs included it as a part of the 1981 wave.

This made my day! So many fond memories... And to see what can be done now for a total experience we were looking for as kids is sublime.
Bespin Luke also is my favourite figure and even when all my others are packed away this figure remains out on display. Awesome video thanks that really captures the imagination 👍👍👍

Beautiful video, Tony. Drew G. is a fantastic friend. Just a great journey through an iconic story and its capture in toy form.
God I love this video, brought back a lot of good memories. I remember my grandmother on my mom’s side got this for me along with a few other Star Wars toys including the Troop Transporter and the Dewback. Thank you for the awesome video and trip down memory lane!

Mate your presentation of this great set is nothing short of amazing. The background in those still pics really show this set in all its glory.
Many thanks!
Brings back so many Memories
Great video! I love this playset and all its play features.
I love how you've been using the music from the vintage commercials. It's a nice touch.
Great video AND a great way to unwind from a stressful day. Thank you Tony
I had no idea there were so many play features in this set. This was a wonderful video with your passion for kenner and Stan Solos integration really shinning. I was having a rubbish morning. This has put me in a good mood. Cheers
Great video Tony!! Throughout the video I’m like “ughhhh now I have to pull the trigger on a dagobah playset!!” 😂😂
Cool presentation and review of Yoda and Luke on Dagobah. Also two of my favorites in the line. Thanks.
I love Stan Solo!!!!! Brilliant figures!!! Thanks Tony great video!
What a great toy! The top of it still survives today in moms sand box, still enjoyed as a dinasour mountain by the next gen of kids
Man that takes me back. My brother and I got that for Christmas. When we played we always had someone needing to be saved from the quicksand.
Masterful creation Tony! Those b-roll shots of the misty swamp are just killer.
Loved this video - thanks for all the uploads on the channel Tony.
Upon a recent return to my parents' home, I re-encountered non-yellowed 1977 Farmboy Luke after nearly a half century. Yellow light saber intact but chewed on end. So much love and care went into producing this playset.
Bespin Luke is my only MOC figure and still my favorite toy of all time.
Excellent work. Thoroughly enjoyed your video.
Another great video! ❤❤❤along with the recent Horde video it’s a beloved part of my childhood.
I still have about 98% of the Star Wars figure accesories from my childhood, but somehow managed to lose everything that came with Yoda. Thank God for the Retro collection.
Tony, thanks for another great and educational video!
Your skills just keep getting better and better Tony. Well wishes to you and your family from Miami. Great vid.
Great Video! I had always dismissed this playset, but following your in-depth look at it I'll be keeping an eye out for one!
I’ve been looking forward to this video thanks Tony 🇺🇸
10 out of 10! Would Recommend! Great Video, Tony! 😎👍
Really interesting in depth overview. Merci beaucoup !
Excellent video Tony! Cool playset!
Great video Tony! Such an awesome playset
lmao that do or do not subscribe plug immediately after the fixing the foam, now thats a solid plug
That commercial at the end really shows how enjoyable it was for kids like me back then to play with toys and being creative at that.
Years ago I bought the brown snake Yoda on a perfect ROTJ card. I would never had paid the price, but it was on my bucket list. I still have this lying around. Unfortunately, the foam quicksand disintegrated on me.
Another great video Tony! Great topic too!
I had the Dagobah model kit as kid to reenact Luke’s training scenes with
[53 YO] I remember seeing this on the Toy shelf and thinking, "That looks like a Smurfs mushroom house, pretty much" [as a little kid, a Star Wars Vehicle/Playset was a MAJOR purchase] and I knew my Dad would prob rip on me calling it a 'Dolls house' too. napoleon dynanmite voice : Lucky!
Such a great playset, I had no idea it had so many features :)
Until this video I always expected the bothanians to be the hardest partying dudes in the far away galaxy. Thanks for another great upload 👍
Whenever I see that Luke figure I think about the Christmas morning I got it. I loved it, but then my little sister put gum on his head. Naturally I responded by putting gum in my sister’s hair. Memories❤
I remember having that as a child
Another Awesome video thanks!
Superb video! ❤
Good! Very good!👍
Such a great playset! I still have my childhood one, but the foam did not survive. Luckily, replacement foam is easy enough to get a hold of.
I had the Yoda figure at a time when you were lucky to find it. I still have it, but I think the snake, cane and belt are long gone.
3:13 He also used it waiting by the door to Echo Base when Luke didn't return.
Back in the day, I thought Lucas kept adding functions to R2 just to make Kenner come out with different versions.
Fun video , Thanks !
Bloody awesome vid 👏

Great video!!
I had the battle damaged X-wing! Memories
Excellent review, thanks for all the hard work. Didn’t R2 use his sensor scope earlier to scan for Luke and Han on Hoth as well?
Yes
What fun! Now, where did I put that Yoda figure??
Has that post production Luke that you showed with the belt buckle and the detailed boots ever been discovered? Clearly one existed from the pic. That would be a holy grail for sure
Great video plove yhe star wars toys
As a kid this set provided limitless play possibilities...Yoda inside, Yoda outside.......
“Battle damage” implies a warrior surviving a battle, whereas “crash damage” implies a teenager who bagged up the wheels and put it in someone’s front yard
I am 13 I wish they made stuff like this in 2024 good video
