I've seen advice everywhere on various cleaning hacks. Lots involve mixing an acidic (vinegar/citric) and a base (baking soda). The base neutralizes the acidic when mixed, defeating the entire purpose of using and acidic for cleaning. But the chemical reaction looks cool 🧐
I find this is also a good litmus test for if the advice is worth an iota of anything. If they're telling you to mix a base and an acid; they don't know what they're doing and you can move on.
I just dump the cutting board in a sink overnight with clorox and water, works great. Regarding lemon juice and baking powder I'm sure there's some abrasive properties that clean but those two products neutralize each other and there's no chemical cleaning. It's a base and acid. Love the channel!
Don't use borax if you are on septic and it drains near trees. Almost killed a maple tree of mine till I figured it out and stopped using. Tree came back.
I tried various methods: soaking in a strong Oxiclean (sodium carbonate peroxide) solution overnight, scrubbing with a thick paste of chlorine based cleanser, and letting that paste stay on the board overnight. The stains faded a bit but were still obvious. Then I soaked it in a 20% chlorine bleach solution for 5 hours and the stains were 90% gone.
Great ideas except when you’re camping, no dishwasher and never use bleach there but I certainly will try your method after I return from camping. Thanks for the easy tips.
I like to put on undiluted hydrogen peroxide wait a couple minutes and then put some undiluted white distilled vinegar over it. Let it sit about an hour or so and then come back try to scour it a little bit and rinse it and dry it. And then do it all over again. Very simple and it's sanitizes also!
Andrea...Lemon and baking soda don't make sense since the baking soda neutralizes the lemon or vinegar acid...so basically you are just scrubbing with a mild abrasive, baking soda.
Thanks for the clean g advise. I do think the reason you should spend the time doing it though is to not throw away the plastic. We need to be very careful about even $3 plastic. Thanks again.

My mom just puts it out in the sun and as good as new
I use Easy Off and a nylon scrub brush and it makes it look good as new .

The best I have seen is baking soda and dawn let dry over night 😊
@@holeikaLet it dry or let it sit?
@@deancreate let it dry....I sit it in my unused oven overnight. This mixture helps in a lot of cleaning

Thank you!!! We’re on septic
A tree?? Seriously 🤣🤣🤣
Bleach soak worked for me!
I just spray on the Clorox cleaner and put it in the dishwasher 👌🤣🤣
Same here, but I don’t bother with the dishwasher. I let the Clorox cleaner sit a few minutes then rinse it in hot water. Stain gone!
I use Oxyiclean! Dissolve in hot water and put cutting board in or stained cups, etc.
I just use bleach and then run thru the dishwasher. Yes, it’s harsh, but is the only way to whiten a stained cutting board.
I do the same, the cutting board looks like new!!
Not thw only way. Hydrogen peroxide works as well.

It's a easy peasy 😂❤
I just rub with lemon let it dry then fill sink with hot hot water & bleach overnight, wake up rinse & it’s like new with no scrubbing 😊
I just used baking powder, which I may have misread, and cleaning vinegar on my cutting board. I will try this borax trick next time.
Thank you for all the wonderful hacks
What if my propylene white little cutting board turned yellow by the dishwasher? any help for this?
Yes very informative, thanks
Great job!
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Great video
Thanks!
Go try 👍🏼I would just buy a new one 😀

Please don't do that. Mixing hydrogen peroxide and vinegar will react to peracetic acid, which is highly corrosive and harmful to your body
This didn’t work for me :(
It's easier just to buy a new cutting board.

Extra scrubbing power and a delicious sent ❤️
Maybe let it soak in Borax water, then do the lemon and soda. Love the ideas and tutorials that you do.
No need for all that. Soak the boards in household bleach for a little and then wash. Done! You sanitize and clean all in one.
Food grade hydrogen peroxide. It is safe and it will make it clean and white.
Time to just toss
Lol!
Just get a machine sanding wheel
Purchasing new
Andrea thanks for sharing. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving. 🥧🦃
$3 / hr... LOL I am going to get the cuts out of my cutting board but only because the wife said it can't be done.
1 to 1 Clorox to water is more effective and quicker.
Baking soda and lemon
10 min
Vinegar
Borax
Thanks for the clean g advise.

Thanks again.
Just purchase a new one
Bleach soak is better
Or......just go to the dollar store and get a brand new one with out wasting the products used and your time as well!
Bleach!
It wasn’t worth the effort for the result
I agree.... all work & no play makes for a dull day! ;)
It's costing more to clean than replace the cutting board, and the result isn't there. Nice try though!
