This editor is the prime example of what’s wrong with the high-end outdoor industry and their customers whose outdoor experience is limited to “walking for an hour in a New York City winter”. I hope she got well paid by Arc’teryx for posting this BS.
It's may come as a surprise to you that many high end outdoor clothing is actually made for and targeted for walking around New York.

Thanks for this video, yet I would say you are comparing two different brands with different stories behind, different goals in terms of market segment. One brand tries to make good quality clothing at an affordable price, the other creates products that tries to push over the technical limits of the other brands, in the segment of mountaineering and outdoor sports.
PS For the city it is better to have good quality clothes (but not for trans-antarctica missions), without wasting a lot of money. :)
Arc’teryx is probably a little overkill for walking in the park.
A season or two? I don't think any of my winter quotes has ever failed. I mean I have a vest with a small tear on the bottom but I still have my triple fat goose coat from 20 years ago and that thing is super warm but it's just massive. Maybe some buttons have fallen off like my Kashmir coat. But the last time I bought a winter coat was maybe 15 years ago or a little bit less. And I don't buy expensive stuff. $200 is a good amount of money for me to spend on a winter coat. I have Columbia, triple fat goose, some other random names I don't even remember. The only zippers of anything I have that's ever failed was my motorcycle pants and maybe jacket but that's after years and years
All you need is a big roll of duct tape or more depends on projects :) it works with everything just have to know how to use it.
I have a few pieces of Arc'teryx and I really like the performance and build quality. The Beta AR Jacket and pants are bomb proof, they are gortex outer layers to keep you dry and stop the wind.... and the long underwear bottoms are nice as well, but they aren't really any different than some under armour that Ihave.. and I have a merino wool hooded sweat shirt that I am not sure if they even make any more but that is great as well, warm and has held up to several years of wear and washing without thinning out that I can really notice...

Please get someone else to do these reviews and recommendations. For the price tag that the aceterax or however you spell the name better be doing all the extra stuff - hood/ sleeves / zipper / rain proof but most nyers just need their coat to keep them warm . We are not walking out without an umbrella even if our coat is waterproof so girl bye in that regard. We can manage with the hood being a regular hood. For the price point you can buy 5 uniqlo coats that will do the most important thing - keep you warm in the cold. If u get to hot - unzip. This lady should not be reviewing coats
