For those using Ableton: Add a Return-track; Click the little "post" next to the Solo button of the return to turn it into a pre-fader return; For your sidechaining compressor: use either the Ableton-compressor for everything pre-Ableton 10. In Ableton 10 you can use the Sidechain-section to the left of the X/Y pad of your plugin.

Hey, dude! I am new to the channel and I think it is really good. You share information that is relevant and advanced in a digestible way. I just wanted to give you a ping. Very happy with it so far and I hope we get more.
this is so brilliant, but the concept goes much further than with just reverb, but yeah, reverb is the best application for the concept. EXCELLENT VIDEO AND EXCELLENT PRESENTATION AND CONCEPT. 5 STARS. I RARELY LEARN NEW STUFF. This video is interesting.
Fl fucks up sidechaining a lot, my advice is to use fruity peak limiter and trigger any knob (EQ or Compressor) by moving it and then clicking "Tools"->"Last tweaked"->"link to controller". I sidechain with this technique quite often because the real sidechaining often creates phase issues.
Please tell me, is this way of sidechaining the kick a lot cleaner and clearer than if you were to use, say, Volumeshaper or LFOtool? Love your channel!! And your personality

Could you please show us how to make One Two Things by Party Pupils. I have been trying to learn how to make a bass sound similar to the bass in that song for so long but cannot figure it out.
Amazing! Although, can someone explain the logic behind.. Assigning [Track "A"] to "Pre-Fader" & Sending it to a "Bus" with "No-Output"? The end result makes sense to me, but how can we still hear the "Bus" with the Reverb and Compressor on it if that "Bus" is set to have no output?
Here’s a thought ... What about sidechaining the reverb Aux before the reverb. So your reverb isn’t being slammed but instead a more natural reverb is formed because the dry signal is already being sidechained
thank you bro and Jesus Christ bless you! btw he's coming soon! I am starting mixing and production again lately - working on some good quality sounds for tropical house kygish style - haven't been producing much for last 3 years, but the good thing is I did not forget what I've learned through the years earlier on!
Was trying this on vocals and the compressor makes the original track change in volume, when I only want the reverb ducking out of the way of the vocals
You sidechain things like the reverb of a lead so you can hear the dry signal of the lead clearer when it's played. When the dry signal of the lead finishes, the reverb on the bus will stop being compressed leaving the reverb tail to carry on at its normal level. This creates a much cleaner sound overall and allows a lot of reverb to be used without it drowning the mix. This is also used on vocals a lot. If you listen to any commercial track on the radio you will be able to hear this effect. It allows the dry signal to be heard much clearer which is how it's supposed to be heard. Listen to 'Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now' and you will be able to hear the reverb and delays side-chained to her voice at the beginning of the track. Hope this helped :)
BTW I am pretty sure you don't have to set up a send in Logic to sidechain to a compressor. The sidechain menu should have the name of the channel in there already without doing an extra send.
I think it has to do with 'No Output' & Pre-fader on the bus and being able to control the signal levels being pushed to the sidechain compressor without making the original track louder quieter.
@@Usenabt More control is not a bad thing, I hadn't thought of it like that, but wouldn't adjusting the threshold of the compressor have the same effect as changing the output level of the key input?
2 reasons... First, in the case of the synth melody, every note may not be the same length so you'd need varying pre-delay times and second, in the case of the kick, the tail of the reverb won't be lowered in volume when the next kick hits. It will, however, be turned down with the sidechain.
Hey, Nice tip and nice sounding track. I don't understand why you turn the 'bus' output to off. It's just an Aux track that's automatically created whenever you assign a new 'bus'. You can just delete it in your mixer window as it doesn't serve any function other than to add more visible tracks in your mix window and more total tracks to your session. Make sense or am I missing something?
Hey guys! Been searching for quite a while now, but haven't found the answer yet. I want to apply Brooks' reverb technique with the FL Studio peak controller (as seen in his masterclass) in Logic Pro X. I know how to side chain the reverb with a compressor, but haven't figured out how to recreate this awesome effect Brooks uses. That seems to be the way to set up the reverb side chain. But I guess it's not the thing where it shuts down the reverb, when an actual note is playing? Or is it just necessary to use the gate for this?
example: 1.Add sound to Channel 1 2.Route Channel 1 to Channel 2 and increase route knob to 100% 3.Unroute Channel 2 from Master Output (this is what he means in the video by choosing "no output") 4.Route Channel 2 to your preferred Bus with your reverb 5.Add compressor under reverb and sidechain channel 2 to your Bus. Hope that helped
- Put on the dry signal the effect pluginn “Fruity Send” (that's making it Pre Fader) - Send the dry signal to a bus (“sidechain to this track” knob). - Put on that last track a Reverb (wet signal) and after that Fruity Limiter (compres mode) - Fruity Limer side chained to the dry signal bus.
I’ll never get over the “Yo what’s good, Big Z here”

why can't you side chain the reverb channel to the lead channel itself, instead of a no output send? am I missing seeming here?

Mercy Mourning those are opinions
@@Knownwellenough thats not an opinion lol its an option
Mercy Mourning “slammed” “more natural” both opinions. Side chaining the dry is an option, yes. But your comment was all opinion.
Knownwellenough dude I don’t understand what you’re trying to argue. Keep scrolling
Knownwellenough by “slammed” I meant the unnatural sound when the reverb ducks behinds the dry transients when sidechaining.
love your music bro!!!! Mad love from Nepal !!!!
hey can you do a remake of Alesso - In the middle ? I think it could be very easy
That video is how I found you, and its still a trick I use. Gonna start using this one now!
So are you are using 3 separate busses for sidechaining in songs? 1.Verb, 2.Delay and 3.Compressor only?
Why dont you use embedded compressor for that purpose? Are FF is better?
I clicked directly when I got the Notification of that Video! You’re the best one ❤️

Why on pre fader and not on post fader? Thanks!
is this the technique used to make future rave leads?
Really cool track man. Whats the name?

You are amazing 🙏
I see that you bussed your leads to Bus 5 as your main lead bus. What do you set the output to? Stereo or no output?
This is f*cking incredible! Omg
Thanks for the share! I tried out this trick with the Kickstart plugin on the synth and the reverb suddenly has motion weeoee

What's the difference in using this method and using pre-delay on your reverb?

I usually just put a compressor after the reverb in the reverb send bus and use the dry track as the sidechain signal.
What's the difference?
Deepak Murthy - none if your using in post fader
Hey guys! Been searching for quite a while now, but haven't found the answer yet.
I want to apply Brooks' reverb technique with the FL Studio peak controller (as seen in his masterclass) in Logic Pro X.

Yeah, bra, big baked Z here...
can you make a free alchemy preset pack? (love from sweden
so basically Any sound can sidechain its own reverb so that its never fighting with its own reverb / tails and gets muddy, am i getting this right
so you need fake Ghost triggers anymore then?

how come you can't just put the reverb on the leads bus and sidechain it to the kick?

What daw do u use??

cool idea!!
Big Z! I don't know how to do this in Fl Studio 20 as the interface isn't the same. I don't know how to put it on pre-fader as well. Can you help?
- Put on the dry signal the effect pluginn “Fruity Send” (that's making it Pre Fader)
- Send the dry signal to a bus (“sidechain to this track” knob).
- Put on that last track a Reverb (wet signal) and after that Fruity Limiter (compres mode)
- Fruity Limer side chained to the dry signal bus.
