@@Joseph1NJ Like @Britec09 indicated, can be done without CPU and RAM. I built a system at the start of January this year and did the flash bios routine, without the CPU and RAM installed. It went the same way as in this video, except I could not boot into bios until the system was built. "Can do" is not the same as "Need to". Have a great day!
Thanks for this video. I'm just wondering three things 1) How are this feature advertised on motherboards in the industry (Meaning special name, feature name, icon, or labels)? and 2) Should this method be done using a UPS? 3) Can the USB port that use to flash the bios be used for other things once you're not flashing or is it only for flashing?
Thanks for this video.. I couldn't easily find anything on the Gigabyte site such as a troubleshooting guide etc and was going mad for a day trying to figure out why I had not post, not even a beep.
Brilliant tutorial. I’ve used it for a Gigabyte B550M DS3H and R5 5600. Bios seems to have updated to latest version, orange light no longer on but the cpu and system fans continue to spin with the pc power light on for over an hour. Any ideas?
Hmm seems pretty straight forward Brian and I am really appehensive when doing BIOS updates but thus seems to be a better way of doing this as opposed to the ones I have done in the past. Mind you I always use Asus components i.e. motherboards for example as far as I can and their setup has been slightly different to this one - not that I am aiming at building any time soon. One other thing is that it seems to me that this situation regarding the advancing specs of the new CPU's is just creating so many issues with the BIOS and why have the motherboards manufacturers not allowed in this day and age made allowances for that. Now one other thing that sticks out for me is that you use AMD CPU's a lot and am just curious as to why as I am a fan of Intel CPU's to be honest??
wish this was available a few years before they came up with it. i had a motherboard that did not support the latest cpu without updating the bios, i had to buy an older cpu in order to flash it so i could use the best cpu available for the motherboard.
Are you able to Q flash the BIOS in a fully set up PC? I would really love to not have to disassemble my new ITX build if possible but would love to not fry anything even more than that.
Should you flash with the latest BIOS version or go in sequential order (old to new) from the installed BIOS on the motherboard if multiple versions are released after manufacture?
1 major issue ive had in past is flashing bios from windows also.. so i prefer this way instead. to unbrick you would need a USB bios programmer and desolder chip likely.. (local tech might have it) but it should not brick if power does not go out.
Did this for the first time with my last PC build. Now... how does one do this on a motherboard that doesn't have a Q-Flash button?? Example: ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming ITX/ax. Nice little ITX board, but doesn't have QFlash, and it looks like the vendor (Corsair) I got it from in a prebuilt system isn't going to provide an update to their CUSTOM BIOS, which refuses to recognize any of the ASRock BIOS update images. LogoFail is out there, just waiting, and Corsair hasn't indicated whether the current BIOS is safe, or they're going to release an update. Can't just trash the unit, so I may actually have to purchase a new board. Suggestions welcome!
Hello sir, may you help me fix my microphone problem, uhm when I am recording my self i can hear the audio of it once i play it but when i call someone like in messenger or in google meet they can't hear hear me even i am not mute, 😅
I was having trouble getting my mobo to post after I put things together and I was about ready to tear my hair out. All I needed to do was rename the file gigabyte.bin. None of the literature the manufacturer gave me mentioned that. Thanks a ton!
Sir i have motherboard B450 pro vdh max it doesn't have q flash button my cup ryzen 5 5600GT need to update Bios but i don't have old gen cpu how i can update...? 😅😅😅
"Update Motherboard BIOS Without A CPU" ... proceeds to insert a CPU...
Like I said, can do it without CPU, Jesus Christ.
@@Britec09 So why didn't you? That's why I clicked the video, because you told me you would.

@@Britec09 A bit defensive, are we? Then change the title of the video, or do what you said! Seems easy. Not sure why you had to reply this way.
Done this a few times, pretty simple and easy. Really handy for Linux users.
Great to hear!
@@Britec09can i do this with components? i.e cpu, ram, ssd etc?

Absolutely it should be done with a UPS! All it takes is a single power cut during a BIOS flash to potentially brick your machine!
great video build looks good thanks for sharing your knowledge
Thanks for watching!

This will be helpful when i replace the motherboard on the pc. Thanks for the tutorial.
No problem 👍

Use the latest one, because all the fixes are rolled into the latest one.
Thank You 😊
My pc shuts off after a few seconds from pushing the button so what am I doing wrong
hey, check if the motherboard has a specific port for the BIOS
mine is the same of the video and it has writen BIOS above the port

Always a risk
I keep a $10 flasher around for that issue.
after the blinking orange light nothing shows up on screen and cpu fan still on
People are going to freak out you didn't use any thermal grease
Much better bios update procedure compared to Windows laptops

Does this procedure fix other buos issues ?
It can but it depends on what the issues are. With bios updates they will list what fixs have been made. Some also come with improvements ect.

In this operation you dont need ram and cpu installed!
you keep saying without a CPU when you have installed a non supported CPU at the time
Like I said in video. It can be done without CPU
