We refer to the Mad Dog as the "Sky Caddy" because they are so great in turbulence. One of the smoothest flying birds in the sky today....it's the T-tail design that makes it so smooth!
Great video! I feel safer on a 28 yr. old Delta jet than a new one on many other carriers. Delta maintenance is the best. Many other airlines and militaries rely on Delta Tech Ops.
@@FlyersAviation If you're up for it, you can still grab a ride in one if you head to Africa or South America :) .....There's ~110 of them still going in small fleets around the world, best bet is Laser Airlines in Venezuela. They used to go to Miami before the US suspended flights, probably won't be lifted a while but they have fairly close routes like the Dominican Republic, although they've scaled back Caribbean service for now. I plan to do this at some point, they also still have MD-81s which had been quite rare for some years and likely the last to fly them. You can even find 737-200s in Venezuela.
Never get tired of listening to these planes! The best ever
I would love to use the pedels j
I have my late father's uniforms when he worked for ail

The skies is not the same without MD-80/90
Wish those planes were still high on the sky 😢
Me too.
@@sla31 What was your favorite plane from the MD series?
Is this recorded handled or with gymbal
All ours were replaced with 737s and now basically, all our gates for regional aircraft are obsolete
They still fly MD-80s on commercial routes?!?!?
They (Delta) did, until earlier this year. They have all since been retired thanks to the coronavirus. This was filmed in March.
This was a fascinating video. I am curious about how many times you have flown on the Mad Dog prior to it's retirement.
Well, I didn’t start keeping track of my flights until 2010. And I flew on them before then. Since 2010 though, I flew on them 27 times.
@@sla31 That's great to hear.
😢😢😢😢😢😢 rip mad dog😢
I thought Delta retired all the Mad Dog's. Maybe I'm thinking of another airline.
They did. This was filmed in March, just a few months before they were retired. I’m just really behind in uploading stuff haha.
Only thing I wish I could see is the reverse thrust 😩
Where is the mad dog?
Unfortunately all of them are now retired
@@FlyersAviation I was actually referring literally to a mad dog - like one that growls.
@@048w2-m5g Oh ok lol

Did you really use an iPhone 11 to record that? Every time I've used my iPhone to record a flight, the audio has been complete garbage.
Yes. The iPhone 11 Pro is what I use for almost all of my filming.
Mad dog? I don't get it?
The aircraft is a McDonnell Douglas MD-88. Its nickname, because of the MD, was Mad Dog.
