Excellent video and great performance! I agree with you!I found the Mogami Platinum 2 years ago and it was a great day for me!And I was already using Mogami Gold which were fantastic cables too but the Platinum made my electric guitar sound superb!!!Even more clarity, warm, deadly silent and more definition when using overdrives and distortion pedals!!!They are not cheap but they are awesome cables and you will get killer tones in your rig!
Charly: I understand. If that's not in the budget, try the Mogami GOLD! They are awesome as well and less expensive. I just searched online and found the 12' Platinum for $109.00, and the 10' Gold for only $49.95. I hope this helps!
Someone asked about the Mogami Overdrive cable. This video was years ago, but I do recall that although similar to the Platinum, I like the platinum better. It's still all I use.
Do the Platinum works better than the Gold for electric guitar when using distortion dealing with style like rock music and playing on stages mostly? Thanks 🙏🏻
Hey! Great video! I have just bought a platinum cable, is there a certain signal flow that I need to follow? For example, should I plug the red end into the guitar or the first pedal of my pedal chain?
I'd really like a Platinum one, but then I look at the price and go cold. I mean, the rest of my rig works out at something stupid like the equivalent of $8000, but paying the equivalent of about $130 just for a cable.. idk.
Kevin, thanks for your comment! I like to use shorter cables when the stage is not too large. The 12' cables usually are for me the best length. Thanks!
The red end is the silent plug. (It prevents popping when you plug in your guitar). Always plug the red end into your guitar and the black end into your amp. Thanks!
I wired my entire board (12 pedals, looper/switcher, Voicelive III) with the Mogami 2524. I spoke with Phil at Mogami before I made my selection. For rock n roll, especially music with gain, overdrive etc the 2524 is superb. The Platinum is overkill, and it is better used for super clean guitar work. jazz etc... The Platinum cable will make you a better player, as it will CLEARLY transmit exactly what you play, warts and all. But for a pedal board, etc. the 2524 is outstanding and head and shoulders above the rest.
Yes! I use Gold pedal cable for my pedalboard(s) - 6" (this is a special order they make for me), 10", and 18". I found the Platinum pedal cable was to thick to bend. Although I used Gold instrument for years, I now use Platinum for instrument cable. I spoke to my connection at Mogami this week and now they have the NEW Mogami Overdrive cable. It's basically a more durable Platinum. I have one coming arriving today. Perhaps I'll do a comparison video on the Platinum vs. the OD. Thanks for your comments!
Looking at buying a mogami plat for my Martin d28 acoustic guitar and buying an aer acoustic classic pro amp that uses only neutrik connectors. What do you recommend as a good acoustic amp with effects
Hi, I've only used an Acoustic amp once at a gig. It was a Fender acoustasonic jr. It was great but I've always used an LR Baggs PARA Acoustic DI rin directly to the board and it's killer!
For my acoustic guitars, I've been using Shubb capos for 30 years. The Original C1B without the roller and without the plastic tip on the thumbscrew. When I get new ones I cut the little rubber bumper off too . It sounds better than everything I've tried. Including the other Shubb capos. (though I haven't tried the F1) It sounds louder and fuller with the most naturally balance sound. Notes ring and chords swell beautifully. The finger noise is not muted like with some other capos I've tried. 20 years ago, Rick was kind enough to send me a dozen long thumbscrews ago when they changed to the plastic tip. I'll never let them, go.
+BetonBenni Hi. For years I used the Mogami 2524 which is their Gold cable. I used them for pedal cable, and instrument cable. Because of how many pedals I use on my pedalboard I like the flexibility of the gold pedal cable. When I tried the Platinum, wow!, I found it to be even greater than the Gold, which I didn't think Mogami could ever outdo the Gold cable. Now, Mogami has the Overdrive cable which is really a more durable, road worthy platinum. I now use the OD cable for all of my instrument cable needs. Thanks!
+BetonBenni Every day! That's all I use now. Again, the OD is basically just more durable, but some think it also sounds slightly different. I love them.

This video is 6 years old and still holds true! Mogami is incredible. While they can be pricey, they will last you compared to cheap cables!

Huge
I hate cheap cables, they always go wrong and you have to wiggle them about until they crackle into sound, drives me insane!!
Nothing like making your own Mogami cables for a small fraction of the price... and sleeving them up!

Probably not despite what manufactures say. According to a reputable engineer audio cable direction is not important

Scott, nice video- what length cable u like to use from guitar to the effects?

With the Mogami platinum cable which end goes in the amp? Red or black side?
The red end is the silent plug. (It prevents popping when you plug in your guitar). Always plug the red end into your guitar and the black end into your amp. Thanks!
Thank you I was doing the opposite. 😮
Would a Planet Waves American Stage Guitar and Instrument Cable be suitable to connect a pedal board to a Fender guitar amp ?

I spent $174 for a 20 feet length of it. It was well worth it...!!!
my entire bass rig is 100% Mogami.... Platinum and gold mix... pedal effect cables, guitar cables, speaker cables, all..

Scott Miller thanks for your reply
can I endorse some of my top quality guitar cable and microphone cable for your channel ?
I have a gold Mogami cable and it costs $20 at guitar center.
Nathaniel Wenrich Awesome! The Platinums are pricey, so I still recommend the Gold for those who don't want to spend over $100 for a cable.
Did he say Shubb Capos? I hate Capos, however, I would like to find something better than I have.
Tony Marinelli Yes, Shubb Capos! They are amazing
Thank you very much Scott!!! Great video

How do gold and platinum compare?

+Scott Miller Sounds different or worse? :)
+BetonBenni Not worse. To me, all Mogami are amazing. Just "slightly" different.
I BUY ONE THANKS
GLOCK GURU Awesome!
