Man! Your videos are a musical safety blanket for me. I love how you break stuff down. You are among a few good musicians, not just a drummer, but also a great teacher. Funny thing is that there are alot of great drummers who are, i'll just say it, terrible teachers. But you are a reason why I had to rethink my whole view and way to play the drums as well as becoming a better musician. Thank you.
Metric modulation, ladies and gentlemen. A truly powerful tool for a drummer to have. The band doesn't appreciate it tho, it throws them off massively and they're stunned as to how you still landed on the one😂
God has answered my prayers I was literally watching this short in slow mo trying to learn them fills lol thank you bro! Fr you really help us average church drummers become better! God is using you!
I absolutely loved how you took your time to explain it and broke it down in multiple different ways! Plus having the metronome in the background with the accent and 16th note triplet clicks really helped.
Thanks Carlin, this is fantastic information. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into helping other drummers express ourselves more freely around the kit. I cant wait to get on the kit this weekend and try this out!
This is like the best drum lesson on YT. You’ve explained it very well and at a pace which I could follow. Some practice and I will be adding this chop to my arsenal. Thank you my friend
I see what you doing big bro 🔥😏👍🏾 2:49 in its essence we’re taking the Paradiddle and phrasing them as sextuplets the slower tempo gives the exercise that cherry on top with the metric modulation. 🥁🥁🥁
Thank you for actually showing how to truly learn this. Not, lemme play this at moderate bpm, ONCE, then super fast the 2nd Time- I gotta rewind sh** like hundreds of times
This is super good! Took me a lil second to really lock it, but I think I got it. Can't wait to practice now. Thanks for sharing bro! Also super grateful to be apart of the Impact community its been great!
That's pretty awesome. I've been using paradiddles on triplet grid for a while, but I've always shifted the accents, keeping the accent on the first note is a whole new game because in effect you are modulating, I believe. Didn't take me too long to crack it, now get it up to speed. Thanks very much, I've been also working on those 5note groupings, 4 on the top + 1 kick , which is also pretty cool. 👊
Killer lesson man cheers! Could you break down the types of cymbals being used? I'm diving into the Sabian brand and absolutely enamored by the incredible sound these produce!
Sure. My front crash is a 18” Sabian HH thin crash. My ride is a 21” HHX Fierce ride. To the right of my ride is a 18” HHX X-treme crash. Over my hi hat is a 10” HHX Evolution splash on top of a AAX Aero splash. Above my 10” tom is a 10” AAX Air Splash. Above my 12” tom is a 12” mini holy China on top of a 12” aero splash. Above my floor tom is a 13” XSR fast Stax top on top of a 12” mini holy China (I think)
Nice stuff I myself been playing these types of over the bar chops for years probably when I didn’t even realize what it was I definitely relate to this and it was an excellent presentation of it 6/4 and 6/8 groove when u went up on the bell
was wondering what is the sticking for 0:36 because you delivered backbeats with Left hand on 2nd and 4th count,- it sounds very very amazing! if we can do this and still keep time for the band i would do it everyday! but if i follow the original single paradiddle sticking , my Right hand would be needed to play the 4th count. so then i tried adding an additional Left hand on the 4th count but
Bro I’m enjoying your lessons. I’m an old pro trying to get back into the swing of things after a 25 year hiatus. What kind of snare are you playing on?
Congratulations on the video. Everything was very well explained. What is the title of the song you use at the end of the video? to be able to download it and be able to practice. Thank you

For this chop to work for me I had to master the halftime/Rosanna shuffle similar to John Piccarro or Purdie.
Yessir. That’s a really good reference.
Of course, just substitution of a parradiddle into the chop. Hell yes.
I definitely love the tuning of snare bro🥁
Thanks! Appreciated!

One of my favorite, chops and the style I play its always confusing to the guys I play with. But I swear I'm doing it right and I land on one.
What style of music is it?
@@carlinmuccular Konpa music , it's from Haiti

Great Carlin, congratulations on the work what is this technique called? It's not a triplet, is it?
Thanks for watching!
Yes, the phrasing is actually a 16th note triplet...or sextuplet... depending on how you look at it!
Amazing video , please what type of metronome is that ? Is it on the App Store ?
