I have the Giorgione 48 watercolour set they are my first watercolor set that i got for my bday two years ago althought i started actually using them 2 weeks ago they work perfectly fine for me.
I'm happy to know it works fine for you. your satisfaction is all that matters. though i wasn't satisfied with the color payoff and transparency, i can say that they're not chalky.
I got Giorgione for like 2 weeks now, and this review quite shocked me. My palette does not look like that, though it's also 24 watercolor cakes haha I'm thinking I might have bought a fake one 😂 anyway, the paintings I did are not really chalky. But you were right about it being so opaque (sometimes I feel like they are gouache 😂) and that you have to help it mix well but right now, they're all I have so, yeah 😂 in the case of color naming, it's not really a big deal for me coz I paint based on instincts LOL 😂 (I'm just a hobbyist, so I guess that's why I'm okay with it? HAHA) Great review, btw! I'm binge watching your reviews, just in case I decide to buy a new one!
Where did you get yours from? Maybe it's another Giorgione variant so it looks and performs differently. I saw in their online store, cakes of fancy shapes and some were of rectangular (more of elongated cakes) form. This set that I have is not as bad as compared to my initial reaction if it weren't for their ultramarine blue that failed my scoring. Hehe. For as long as you dont hang the piantings out on a well-lit place, your totally fine. Thank you! Feel free,and welcome to my channel. 🎨☺️

Allan, even though these didn't flow in the painting, somehow, you still managed a nice painting from these strange paints! The paper choice helps these paints......as does moving them into one another with the brush. Maybe someone will find these qualities acceptable. Regards Eliza in Australia
thank you Eliza. 🙏🎨☺️ yeah, i agree. it is overall manageable, and can be acceptable in general. my issue in this set is the price and the confusing color naming.. for its price of 799php for 24pans, i have reviewed some better options like Superior (24pans 460-700php) and pretty Excellent (24 pans for 600+php) to name a few. but yes, j think this giorgione set markets as a package including the postcards, pencils etc. so it's just a matter of preference and priority. ☺️

I knew that these watercolors weren't worth it, and my cousin wanted to buy them and i couldn't seem to change her mind, so i showed her this video, and i managed to persuade her to buy the Owin watercolors instead.

Hello from Sweden! The 48 arrived today and it really made me happy! It was like a Christmas present. The packaging is great, and the extras were really nice. I bought a plastic box 36 colour set. They didn't come in pans but we're extruded and glued into a similar plastic case. Unfortunately they were not glued in on the right order. They are impossible to pop out to reorder even if I could figure out which was supposed to be which. Better yet I got the two yellow oranges in the same palette. I also had quite a Dew colours that looked the same. In short save your money on these and buy Superior if you're just dipping your toes in to see if you like watercolours. Much more vibrant and translucent! Way too many fillers in these. Painting looks quite lovely considering what you were working with! Edited to fix errors

To make sure if it'll be worth it, I looked for some reviews regarding this w.c before buying it and I came across this video. This video has helped me a lot in deciding because I'm stuck between this w.c, the superior watercolor and the prang w.c. And I guess I'll go with the superior w.c. or the prang w.c.

😁👍 I love how honest and thorough your reviews are!! 😏 I'd soak the "cakes" out of the half pans with some hot water and refill the empty pans with your own favorite selected tube watercolors. Then I'd toss out that flimsy plastic casing that's inside and glue small magnets to the bottoms of the half pans so they can stick securely to the bottom of the metal case. Overall, it could still become a very nice travel case for the inexpensive price! Thanks again 🤗
Basically, every single color is filled to the brim with what we call "optical brighteners" - white particles added to make the paint bright when wet, dull when dry. Also makes your paint water a nasty sludge of white residues.
Also, my verdict about this set: buy if it's on sale, take off the paint cakes from the plastic pans and bam, you have a luxury set to fill with your own professional watercolors.
yes, they got those brighteners that look like chalk.. I was actually expecting it to act like this and in fact posted my prediction on Facebook.. though i was correct, still feel bad about the color names because it will mislead lots of beginners. it's what im more worried about than the qualify of the paints. it is actually on sale now worth that price i got them for. haha. using them as a palette for a better set of paints is a good idea. i can also keep my tube paints here and toss the flimsy plastic tray. 😉🎨

I see my set doesn’t include several of the colours this set of 24 has and the colours are not in actual pans, or square. No biggy though. I will make good use of the paints, as well as the plastic box mine came in with a removable plastic pallet for as long as it lasts! 😁 No extras came with this set. $20 🇨🇦. I could see right away the colours became whitish when I moistened them and now I understand why. Thank you.🙃 I have them now and will have fun as I continue to watch your videos and learn! I think it performs similarly to seamiart's water colors, but only some acted like those. I think 5-11 colors did those and most of those are pastels. I have the set so, yeah. I immediately tested them, the light green which is a pastel didn't cover the black line surprisingly but has white but i don't know how that worked, or it's just my way or using it i guess, I have superior, pretty excellent, and i tested the fabercastells. And fabercastel is much much more worse than seamiarts, i could compare seamiarts to superior, and there's a difference but that's the Vibrancy i think... But nonetheless, It's Great for the price. Unlike this- And seami art has somehow more accurate naming, and I think You Would Enjoy the Foldable superior water colors, better, i think. The Mars Purple or Violet, is very vibrant and looks exactly like it's Pigment counter part. So i suppose it's lightfast.
I agree in all your observations and tests... right after i have just reviewed the seamiart. hehe. Seamiart is close to superior but for a much better price. Now Im excited for the foldable palette, though i believe its the same with the fan palette and the superior in pans generally. :)
Thanks for the excellent review! Especially liked the comparison test/swatch pages. I hadn't used watercolors since I was a little kid, but wanted to try them again. Unfortunately I fell for the marketing for this brand's (and Misulove) 36 pan set, with all of the included extras. The packaging is great though, as the extras ended up being a LOT better than the paints themselves, so not a complete loss. LOL

Unfortunately where I live I can't find many brands and also I'm a beginner who's only used Faber castell's pans before. Compared to Mont Marte and Sakura Koi and Pelikan transparent, are these better or worse? Which one to buy in that case
Hiii There. paints are actually workable, its just that for the same price, there are many sets that are better. Ive only tried MonMarte Pastel tubes, so i cant compare them well. For Sakura Koi, ive tried the pans or cakes, but i don't like them either. I have reviewed a pelikan transparent and i prefer it over Giorfione.. but honestly still, its not so transparent . If you have access to the better student grades such as VanGogh, Sonnet ot Cotman, they're reliable options. If you could get entry level professional grades or affordable artist grades such as Paul Rubens and White Nights, there better options too.

I'm from Pakistan! 😀 I really wanted the superior paints but here I was only able to find the fan style foldable 42 paint palette and not the other regular one , so I think once I get some practice on the Giorgione set (anxiously waiting for it to arrive!) once they finish I should get the foldable Superior ones? Would that be a considerable upgrade? 😅

yes, personally they tried to make their line attractive with the ad ons and packaging but the paints are just not enough even as student grade. schoold grade maybe.
First off, I am always amazed by how you can name a color by the sight! Every time na nag-swatch ka sir and drop names and pigment info just like that XD I’m still getting the hang of it but I know my favorite green and blue by sight now at least 😂😂 Alsooo I knew these were a bit sketchy when I saw them sa Shopee, and that I haven’t found a lot of reviews on it by artists XD good to know my gut assessment was also on point haha! They packaged it slightly similar to Paul Rubens from the minimalistic box to the shammy cloth hahah. I think the only plus side to these compared to other others na kinda equal in quality is that they have the tin case and half pans you can actually take out, compared to those na yung solid blocks are just glued to the flimsy plastic thing. As always, thank you for the review and still really nice sample painting!
Pitahaya Studio perhaps po I saw them on a different seller indeed. To be fair, they aren’t the worst ones out there and are good enough if there isn’t anything else. My honest opinion lang that it would be better to invest a bit more and get Superior or Pretty Excellent na lesser colors though, and just learn how to mix your own, since mixing is an important foundation 🥰 Sometimes less is more heheh, or at least, that’s what other watercolor artists here on YT have recommended for beginners like me c:

I haven’t personally tried them so I can’t say much about the experience, but the first review of them that I saw on here kasi they looked too pastel to me, which made me buy Pretty Excellent instead (: still though, any step up from Best Buy and the kiddy watercolors is good enough as long as it makes us start learning and creating :D
Pitahaya Studio same experience with the Koi, it felt a little grainy, and then when my dad got his Kuratake Gansai set I got to try those too, but those also felt kinda weird when I got to compare them to other brands na - kind of like a bit sticky and inky at the same time? But I guess since it’s different from traditional watercolors it’s to be expected. Those two were vibrant though :)

I shouldve researched before I ordered this. I made an impulsive purchase with this 😅 I just got mine today, but I'm honestly impressed with how they are since my previous one was a Simbalion which was REALLY chalky 😂 I'm just starting out, so I guess it's not such a bad thing because it's cheap 🤷♀️
I'm sorry to make this review sort of disappoint you, and unfortunately, you can't unsee this anymore. Hehe✌️but really on a lighter side, ofcourse, this is waaaaay much better than your previous Simbalion (esp if those were the cakes). This is really not bad at all if it wasn't for that Ultramarine and if the other cheap but vibrant sets like Pretty excellent, Seamiart and superior came out. Did you get the 24 or a bigger set?

Yeah, color names will, most of the time, be different or mistranslated esp from asian brands, kaya important to compare colors and maybe even name the colors yourself. Saw this one on shopee due to its popularity, but wasnt very interested in getting it. Anyway, great video for people planning to purchase this set/brand :)

These paints look to be the same as the first cheap set I got off aliexpress (one that came in a plastic box that looked like a sakura Koi clone) right down to the white showing up when you wet the paint and the super weak pastel colors. They aren't bad for a cheap starter set, but you hit the limitations of them very quickly.
Yes. haha. maybe what you got was the rebranded version of this same set.. good for starters till you see Seamiart Watercolors for half the price with better paints. :)
I've been hoarding badly lately so o resorted to just reviewing them and putting them on destash sale soon..im not proud though. hehe. The last brand at the comparison, is the best for me. DS. ☺️ Just suits my preferences and style. ☺️

i got the 48 set of this brand since i wanted to try water colors but was on a budget. it got some decent paintings out of it so far, so i guess they do their job. but some tones i found hard to mix with em, but i just assumed i was bad at mixing colors. might have just been the paint's fault then. but i don't know. but after i bought the Kuretake set i find myself reaching for them less. i will probably use em up and reuse the tin. i feel no need to throw them away, or give them to someone else.
Yes, actually this is not so bad. I was just expecting a bit more for its price. Plus i got off that some colors are far from how it shoulfd look and many colors are opaque to chalky. But it's very useable still.
I bought their different watercolor with pearlescent color. The metallic is quite good. I love it. And their brushes is cheap good brush. But yes they are not at the same level as for sakura koi, ( from my friend ) I think they has good yellow and ugly blue/green compared from pentel.
Yeah that's true. And this set is really usable. It was just sold at a higher price here and it doesnt match. Other Giorgione products, i heard are good. I think the company only sources their products from other producers. They dont make their own, so the quality is varying.

Un nalang gawin mo.. kung sa ilaw lang, kahit ung ringlight lang then patong shomwhere. Layo ng difference e. Kumuha lang ng ako may tripod para sa photography magamit ko rin. Hehe
Kuya maganda raw po yung nasa tin tapos pahaba yung mga paint. Actually positive yung feedback sa mga pahaba na paint na sets, may iba pa po kasi e. Meron yung macaron sets tapos yun nga po yung mga nakalagay tin. Baka po iba yung formula nung mga yon

Ok, after this dissapointing but already expected bad chalky watercolors, can you please review the QoR Watercolor set? I want to get the high croma set. I'm curious about their famous dispertion. I want to see how they flow in wet on wet :D That review could be very funny. I want to know your opinion. There is another brand with some nice flowing colors named Rosa Gallery Watercolors. They are Ukranian and very like the White Nights: lightfast, vibrant colors and cheap artist grade watercolors! I'm about to get them (12 full pan set) on ebay for only 13,25€ with free shipping from Portugal. Let's see! Still waiting for my White Nights to come from Russia! Out of the many paints ive tried, very few are chalky. Artist grade paints are not chalky. If you've been watching my reviews, you'll find in the last part that i show all the swatches ive done and compare. There you'll see the chalkiest and they're the Simbalion, DongA, and the worst of all, the Best Buy cakes from NBS. Pls dont also confuse chalky, and muddy and opaque. All of these terms confuse many. 😉
@@Daisyy-ml8bl Chalky is when your paints are like pressed powder. Paintings have powdery finish, often times creating paint dusts that get in your fingers. Opaque/opacity is the opposite of transparent. Some paints are opaque because they have white pigment or theyre naturally opaque like some genuine cobalts and cadmiums. Muddy is when you mix too many unmatching colors, often times, opaque colors.

No, they're plastic. There are rarely commercially available ceramic pans, porcelain, and so much more. I have a friend here in Manila that makes ceramic pans. You may be interested?
I think that. All watercolor are good to used in doing arts... To make it beautiful and to disregard the disappointed... We just need to look at the bright side. Hahaha the "do your thang" 😅😂 I love your review. And you did all the paintings good despite in some of disappointment. 😅
hahaha. im disappointed because Ultramarine is my favorite color, and they messed with it. 😆 well, i agree, we should look at brighter side of things. this set is still useable. but since i am doing watercolor reviews, i need to be honest with what i feel about an item. i need to say if it is good or not. since we have a criteria, i need to mention it's qualities and the flaws. the purpose of my review is to give information and to guide buyers what to and not to buy. to match the value for their money. through my honest review and 'disappointment', i believe im able to help lead the artists to getting the watercolor that matches their preferences and budget bago pa sila bumili at masayang lang ang pera nila. that is how i do my thang. hjndi laging bright side lang ang dapat tignan kasi afterall, we have a choice. and there are always better choices right? ☺️🎨🙏

I regretted buying this watercolor cakes. I always asked the seller first regarding the quality of these paints. Sadly, they have no idea or simply don't understand what I was trying to say (especially about the lightfastness). I should have just save some money to buy other high quality watercolor paints

But, as ive said, it is not that bad at all. for me, there are just some items that are better. well, there are lots of factors kasi. but to answer your question, ofcourse, you can use this as a beginner even as a pro. most of the colors deliver vibrant colors parin naman and everything from movement to texture can be handled well. :) you can upgrade naman soon and for sure itll be sweeter. :) Youre welcome and happy painting! :)

Hi. Sorry for the super later reply. I think the Tokyo Finds set is different. I believe Earl's Art has a comparison video.. though, i think they're not PH brand.. if those were distributed here in PH, i think they're also China-made. There are very few paint makers here in PH, and almost all get their Pigments outside the country. PintaPH was one of those who formulated their own pigments from local stones, and organic ingredients.. but they've stopped now j think.
Please review Paul Rubens Caroline (student quality)! I think they have a wide range and extremely cheap. I saw them the other day and trying to find as much information as possible before buying.

@@AllanJayQuesada I bought it at a local art shop I'll try to find it. I came in a white container, with 12 colors. It also came with a travel paintbrush. I bought this pack as a beginner that has not tested lots of watercolor out. But I have tested the Sakura Koi watercolors and these are much better.

Ugh... The Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue and Grass Green are not the actual 3 colors like they supposed to be. The Grass Green is actually a Mint type of color. Some of the Colors are nice looking though. It's really compact but I think it's more like a craft watercolor kit or something like that.
Yes, i agree on everything you mentioned. Some colors could really pass.. it's like craft paints, which remind me of Gansai Tambi but Gansai tambi is still much better than this. Hehe

Hii. This set may not be bad.. but there are alot which are better. In the latter part of my reviews, i show and compare ALL the brands ive reviewed and ive sort of ranked their swatches from worst to best. Beginner paints can be professional or student grade. I would suggest you to get the best you can comfortably afford and limit it to 12 colors containing the split primary colors. Daniel smith, Schmincke, Sennelier, Holbein are some of the best investments. The cheaper student grades are Sonnet, and VanGogh.

@@kerryhall5621 i think you already have a handful of starter paints, but my favorite in your collection has to be Paul Rubens. A thing that would make a difference is the paper. I would recommend you to explore more papers as you explore paints. The best one I use to all my professional works is Arches paper. Might be on the expensive side but certainly very reliable. Generally, cotton paper are mostly good. Hahnemuhle and the best grade of strathmore also works for me. The best tricks are cliche i must say.. just continue practicing, continue looking for inspirations and idols and also dont forget to rest and divert from time to time to refresh.

Ui mas maganda parin naman yan sa DongA. Sa Faber, well mas ok ang texture niyan though opaque lang kasi siya tlaga and may mga weird na kulay. Workable parin naman. Dont be too sorry. ☺️🎨

Though this set isn't the best i recommend for beginners, as the 50 colors may overwhelm the user, I think this set could work still. The 1st skill I need a beginner to learn (whatever brand he/she uses) is to identify the warm and the cool versions of the priamry colors and be able to make a color wheel using it and make other possible mixes using these 6 colors like secondary colors, skin tones, earth colors and grays. This thing is possible in this set if one focuses on those 6 colors first. ☺️🎨

I bought a tube set of watercolor paint from china (shopee) too and it arrived after a month of waiting only to be disappointed lol. It doesn't flow well, and it dried with inconsistent texture, like the brush stroke is visible. It just doesn't move well even tho i add more water to it. The colors are so vibrant and it's not chalky, it makes me even more angry becoz of that one issue 🤣. Is there any way to save this set? I wonder what making this paint hardly move. I tried finding solution from google but i couldn't find one 😆.
Hey! May I know which brand is that? For the solution, i think you can try putting ox gall. it make paints move better. It is a vehicle used in Qor watercolors, making it move so well. i believe its available also in shopee and in tubes by Schmincke. i have not personally tried it but it is what i see and hear people use to help their paints move better.
@@AllanJayQuesada the brand is H&B watercolor made by company Shanghai Haoben Stationary. I noticed a weird texture like paint separation too whenever i mix 2 colors together. I guess this is what i got by paying cheaper price haha. This really a lesson for me to select only good quality paint instead of looking at the number of colors i can get for cheaper price. Cuz in the end, it only cause frustration. The vibrancy also maybe come from mix of ink. I will try your suggestion, thanks a lot for your reply. :D

Have you watched the review po? I don't recommend this set actually. It's expensive para sa quality niya na opaque and medyo chalky. Para presyo nito, maraming mas ok like Sonnet or Superior. If you already own this, pwede naman pag tiyagaan for portrait or for any subject. Maraming colors so Versatile naman. Pero un nga, low quality ito as compared to many cheaper brands I've reviewed.
Hi. My work table is placed infront of a bay window. I placed 3 - 1"x1" wood sticks to Carry my phone on both facing walls of the bay overhead. And that's where i put my cam phone. ☺️
Personally, I am disappointed with the color selection of this particular set. Specially the cobalt blue and the grass green. Pretty packaging, but the colors aren't very good imo

I have the Giorgione 48 watercolour set they are my first watercolor set that i got for my bday two years ago althought i started actually using them 2 weeks ago they work perfectly fine for me.

I got Giorgione for like 2 weeks now, and this review quite shocked me. My palette does not look like that, though it's also 24 watercolor cakes haha I'm thinking I might have bought a fake one 😂 anyway, the paintings I did are not really chalky. But you were right about it being so opaque (sometimes I feel like they are gouache 😂) and that you have to help it mix well but right now, they're all I have so, yeah 😂 in the case of color naming, it's not really a big deal for me coz I paint based on instincts LOL 😂 (I'm just a hobbyist, so I guess that's why I'm okay with it? HAHA) Great review, btw! I'm binge watching your reviews, just in case I decide to buy a new one!
Where did you get yours from? Maybe it's another Giorgione variant so it looks and performs differently. I saw in their online store, cakes of fancy shapes and some were of rectangular (more of elongated cakes) form. This set that I have is not as bad as compared to my initial reaction if it weren't for their ultramarine blue that failed my scoring. Hehe. For as long as you dont hang the piantings out on a well-lit place, your totally fine. Thank you! Feel free,and welcome to my channel. 🎨☺️

Allan, even though these didn't flow in the painting, somehow, you still managed a nice painting from these strange paints! The paper choice helps these paints......as does moving them into one another with the brush. Maybe someone will find these qualities acceptable. Regards Eliza in Australia

yeah, i agree. it is overall manageable, and can be acceptable in general. my issue in this set is the price and the confusing color naming.. for its price of 799php for 24pans, i have reviewed some better options like Superior (24pans 460-700php) and pretty Excellent (24 pans for 600+php) to name a few. but yes, j think this giorgione set markets as a package including the postcards, pencils etc. so it's just a matter of preference and priority. ☺️

I think as you demonstrated all of the colors have some white in it otherwise the paints in the pans won't look so bright and colorful.
i agree. the white serves as a brightner. it is either they put white pigment or some sort of an extender like chalk.
I knew that these watercolors weren't worth it, and my cousin wanted to buy them and i couldn't seem to change her mind, so i showed her this video, and i managed to persuade her to buy the Owin watercolors instead.

Yes! I love my giorgione watercolor brushes, they work well considering the price. So I thought the watercolors would be passable but sadly not 😅
I bought a plastic box 36 colour set. They didn't come in pans but we're extruded and glued into a similar plastic case. Unfortunately they were not glued in on the right order. They are impossible to pop out to reorder even if I could figure out which was supposed to be which. Better yet I got the two yellow oranges in the same palette. I also had quite a Dew colours that looked the same.
In short save your money on these and buy Superior if you're just dipping your toes in to see if you like watercolours. Much more vibrant and translucent! Way too many fillers in these.

To make sure if it'll be worth it, I looked for some reviews regarding this w.c before buying it and I came across this video. This video has helped me a lot in deciding because I'm stuck between this w.c, the superior watercolor and the prang w.c. And I guess I'll go with the superior w.c. or the prang w.c.

😏 I'd soak the "cakes" out of the half pans with some hot water and refill the empty pans with your own favorite selected tube watercolors. Then I'd toss out that flimsy plastic casing that's inside and glue small magnets to the bottoms of the half pans so they can stick securely to the bottom of the metal case.
Overall, it could still become a very nice travel case for the inexpensive price! Thanks again 🤗

Basically, every single color is filled to the brim with what we call "optical brighteners" - white particles added to make the paint bright when wet, dull when dry. Also makes your paint water a nasty sludge of white residues.
Also, my verdict about this set: buy if it's on sale, take off the paint cakes from the plastic pans and bam, you have a luxury set to fill with your own professional watercolors.
yes, they got those brighteners that look like chalk.. I was actually expecting it to act like this and in fact posted my prediction on Facebook.. though i was correct, still feel bad about the color names because it will mislead lots of beginners. it's what im more worried about than the qualify of the paints. it is actually on sale now worth that price i got them for. haha. using them as a palette for a better set of paints is a good idea. i can also keep my tube paints here and toss the flimsy plastic tray. 😉🎨

I see my set doesn’t include several of the colours this set of 24 has and the colours are not in actual pans, or square. No biggy though. I will make good use of the paints, as well as the plastic box mine came in with a removable plastic pallet for as long as it lasts! 😁

I think it performs similarly to seamiart's water colors, but only some acted like those.
I think 5-11 colors did those and most of those are pastels. I have the set so, yeah.
I immediately tested them, the light green which is a pastel didn't cover the black line surprisingly but has white but i don't know how that worked, or it's just my way or using it i guess, I have superior, pretty excellent, and i tested the fabercastells.
And fabercastel is much much more worse than seamiarts, i could compare seamiarts to superior, and there's a difference but that's the Vibrancy i think... But nonetheless, It's Great for the price. Unlike this-
And seami art has somehow more accurate naming, and I think You Would Enjoy the Foldable superior water colors, better, i think. The Mars Purple or Violet, is very vibrant and looks exactly like it's Pigment counter part. So i suppose it's lightfast.
I agree in all your observations and tests... right after i have just reviewed the seamiart. hehe. Seamiart is close to superior but for a much better price. Now Im excited for the foldable palette, though i believe its the same with the fan palette and the superior in pans generally. :)

I hadn't used watercolors since I was a little kid, but wanted to try them again. Unfortunately I fell for the marketing for this brand's (and Misulove) 36 pan set, with all of the included extras. The packaging is great though, as the extras ended up being a LOT better than the paints themselves, so not a complete loss. LOL

Hiii There. paints are actually workable, its just that for the same price, there are many sets that are better. Ive only tried MonMarte Pastel tubes, so i cant compare them well. For Sakura Koi, ive tried the pans or cakes, but i don't like them either. I have reviewed a pelikan transparent and i prefer it over Giorfione.. but honestly still, its not so transparent . If you have access to the better student grades such as VanGogh, Sonnet ot Cotman, they're reliable options. If you could get entry level professional grades or affordable artist grades such as Paul Rubens and White Nights, there better options too.

I'm from Pakistan! 😀 I really wanted the superior paints but here I was only able to find the fan style foldable 42 paint palette and not the other regular one , so I think once I get some practice on the Giorgione set (anxiously waiting for it to arrive!) once they finish I should get the foldable Superior ones? Would that be a considerable upgrade? 😅

yes, personally they tried to make their line attractive with the ad ons and packaging but the paints are just not enough even as student grade. schoold grade maybe.
First off, I am always amazed by how you can name a color by the sight! Every time na nag-swatch ka sir and drop names and pigment info just like that XD I’m still getting the hang of it but I know my favorite green and blue by sight now at least 😂😂
Alsooo I knew these were a bit sketchy when I saw them sa Shopee, and that I haven’t found a lot of reviews on it by artists XD good to know my gut assessment was also on point haha! They packaged it slightly similar to Paul Rubens from the minimalistic box to the shammy cloth hahah. I think the only plus side to these compared to other others na kinda equal in quality is that they have the tin case and half pans you can actually take out, compared to those na yung solid blocks are just glued to the flimsy plastic thing.

Pitahaya Studio same experience with the Koi, it felt a little grainy, and then when my dad got his Kuratake Gansai set I got to try those too, but those also felt kinda weird when I got to compare them to other brands na - kind of like a bit sticky and inky at the same time? But I guess since it’s different from traditional watercolors it’s to be expected. Those two were vibrant though :)

I shouldve researched before I ordered this. I made an impulsive purchase with this 😅 I just got mine today, but I'm honestly impressed with how they are since my previous one was a Simbalion which was REALLY chalky 😂 I'm just starting out, so I guess it's not such a bad thing because it's cheap 🤷♀️

Hehe✌️but really on a lighter side, ofcourse, this is waaaaay much better than your previous Simbalion (esp if those were the cakes). This is really not bad at all if it wasn't for that Ultramarine and if the other cheap but vibrant sets like Pretty excellent, Seamiart and superior came out. Did you get the 24 or a bigger set?

For artist grade, there's no wrong choice as every artist grade paint is good. 😉

Yeah, color names will, most of the time, be different or mistranslated esp from asian brands, kaya important to compare colors and maybe even name the colors yourself. Saw this one on shopee due to its popularity, but wasnt very interested in getting it. Anyway, great video for people planning to purchase this set/brand :)

Bonus rin kung yung nag dedemo ng product is experienced rin with using the medium. These paints look to be the same as the first cheap set I got off aliexpress (one that came in a plastic box that looked like a sakura Koi clone) right down to the white showing up when you wet the paint and the super weak pastel colors. They aren't bad for a cheap starter set, but you hit the limitations of them very quickly.

i got the 48 set of this brand since i wanted to try water colors but was on a budget. it got some decent paintings out of it so far, so i guess they do their job. but some tones i found hard to mix with em, but i just assumed i was bad at mixing colors. might have just been the paint's fault then. but i don't know.
but after i bought the Kuretake set i find myself reaching for them less.
i will probably use em up and reuse the tin. i feel no need to throw them away, or give them to someone else.
Yes, actually this is not so bad. I was just expecting a bit more for its price. Plus i got off that some colors are far from how it shoulfd look and many colors are opaque to chalky. But it's very useable still.
I bought their different watercolor with pearlescent color. The metallic is quite good. I love it. And their brushes is cheap good brush.
But yes they are not at the same level as for sakura koi, ( from my friend )

Yeah that's true. And this set is really usable. It was just sold at a higher price here and it doesnt match. Other Giorgione products, i heard are good. I think the company only sources their products from other producers. They dont make their own, so the quality is varying.
Yep their line of watercolor is from another company so the paints quality varies from student grade to bad school watercolors are overpriced.

Un nalang gawin mo.. kung sa ilaw lang, kahit ung ringlight lang then patong shomwhere. Layo ng difference e. Kumuha lang ng ako may tripod para sa photography magamit ko rin. Hehe

Ok, after this dissapointing but already expected bad chalky watercolors, can you please review the QoR Watercolor set? I want to get the high croma set. I'm curious about their famous dispertion. I want to see how they flow in wet on wet :D That review could be very funny. I want to know your opinion. There is another brand with some nice flowing colors named Rosa Gallery Watercolors. They are Ukranian and very like the White Nights: lightfast, vibrant colors and cheap artist grade watercolors! I'm about to get them (12 full pan set) on ebay for only 13,25€ with free shipping from Portugal. Let's see! Still waiting for my White Nights to come from Russia! Out of the many paints ive tried, very few are chalky. Artist grade paints are not chalky. If you've been watching my reviews, you'll find in the last part that i show all the swatches ive done and compare. There you'll see the chalkiest and they're the Simbalion, DongA, and the worst of all, the Best Buy cakes from NBS. Pls dont also confuse chalky, and muddy and opaque. All of these terms confuse many. 😉

Chalky is when your paints are like pressed powder. Paintings have powdery finish, often times creating paint dusts that get in your fingers.
Opaque/opacity is the opposite of transparent. Some paints are opaque because they have white pigment or theyre naturally opaque like some genuine cobalts and cadmiums. Muddy is when you mix too many unmatching colors, often times, opaque colors.

No, they're plastic. There are rarely commercially available ceramic pans, porcelain, and so much more. I have a friend here in Manila that makes ceramic pans. You may be interested?

hahaha. im disappointed because Ultramarine is my favorite color, and they messed with it. 😆 well, i agree, we should look at brighter side of things. this set is still useable. but since i am doing watercolor reviews, i need to be honest with what i feel about an item. i need to say if it is good or not. since we have a criteria, i need to mention it's qualities and the flaws. the purpose of my review is to give information and to guide buyers what to and not to buy. to match the value for their money. through my honest review and 'disappointment', i believe im able to help lead the artists to getting the watercolor that matches their preferences and budget bago pa sila bumili at masayang lang ang pera nila. that is how i do my thang. hjndi laging bright side lang ang dapat tignan kasi afterall, we have a choice. and there are always better choices right? ☺️🎨🙏

I regretted buying this watercolor cakes. I always asked the seller first regarding the quality of these paints. Sadly, they have no idea or simply don't understand what I was trying to say (especially about the lightfastness). I should have just save some money to buy other high quality watercolor paints

Hi!! Oh, im sorry if the review broke you in a way.. hehe. But, as ive said, it is not that bad at all. for me, there are just some items that are better. well, there are lots of factors kasi. but to answer your question, ofcourse, you can use this as a beginner even as a pro. most of the colors deliver vibrant colors parin naman and everything from movement to texture can be handled well. :) you can upgrade naman soon and for sure itll be sweeter. :)

Hi. Sorry for the super later reply. I think the Tokyo Finds set is different. I believe Earl's Art has a comparison video.. though, i think they're not PH brand.. if those were distributed here in PH, i think they're also China-made. There are very few paint makers here in PH, and almost all get their Pigments outside the country. PintaPH was one of those who formulated their own pigments from local stones, and organic ingredients.. but they've stopped now j think.
Please review Paul Rubens Caroline (student quality)! I think they have a wide range and extremely cheap. I saw them the other day and trying to find as much information as possible before buying.

I bought this pack as a beginner that has not tested lots of watercolor out. But I have tested the Sakura Koi watercolors and these are much better.

Ugh... The Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue and Grass Green are not the actual 3 colors like they supposed to be. The Grass Green is actually a Mint type of color. Some of the Colors are nice looking though. It's really compact but I think it's more like a craft watercolor kit or something like that.
Yes, i agree on everything you mentioned. Some colors could really pass.. it's like craft paints, which remind me of Gansai Tambi but Gansai tambi is still much better than this. Hehe

Hii. This set may not be bad.. but there are alot which are better. In the latter part of my reviews, i show and compare ALL the brands ive reviewed and ive sort of ranked their swatches from worst to best. Beginner paints can be professional or student grade. I would suggest you to get the best you can comfortably afford and limit it to 12 colors containing the split primary colors. Daniel smith, Schmincke, Sennelier, Holbein are some of the best investments. The cheaper student grades are Sonnet, and VanGogh.

@@kerryhall5621 i think you already have a handful of starter paints, but my favorite in your collection has to be Paul Rubens. A thing that would make a difference is the paper. I would recommend you to explore more papers as you explore paints. The best one I use to all my professional works is Arches paper. Might be on the expensive side but certainly very reliable. Generally, cotton paper are mostly good. Hahnemuhle and the best grade of strathmore also works for me. The best tricks are cliche i must say.. just continue practicing, continue looking for inspirations and idols and also dont forget to rest and divert from time to time to refresh.

Though this set isn't the best i recommend for beginners, as the 50 colors may overwhelm the user, I think this set could work still. The 1st skill I need a beginner to learn (whatever brand he/she uses) is to identify the warm and the cool versions of the priamry colors and be able to make a color wheel using it and make other possible mixes using these 6 colors like secondary colors, skin tones, earth colors and grays. This thing is possible in this set if one focuses on those 6 colors first. ☺️🎨

I bought a tube set of watercolor paint from china (shopee) too and it arrived after a month of waiting only to be disappointed lol. It doesn't flow well, and it dried with inconsistent texture, like the brush stroke is visible. It just doesn't move well even tho i add more water to it. The colors are so vibrant and it's not chalky, it makes me even more angry becoz of that one issue 🤣. Is there any way to save this set? I wonder what making this paint hardly move. I tried finding solution from google but i couldn't find one 😆.
Hey! May I know which brand is that? For the solution, i think you can try putting ox gall. it make paints move better. It is a vehicle used in Qor watercolors, making it move so well. i believe its available also in shopee and in tubes by Schmincke. i have not personally tried it but it is what i see and hear people use to help their paints move better.
@@AllanJayQuesada the brand is H&B watercolor made by company Shanghai Haoben Stationary. I noticed a weird texture like paint separation too whenever i mix 2 colors together. I guess this is what i got by paying cheaper price haha. This really a lesson for me to select only good quality paint instead of looking at the number of colors i can get for cheaper price. Cuz in the end, it only cause frustration. The vibrancy also maybe come from mix of ink. I will try your suggestion, thanks a lot for your reply. :D

Yeah, i agree on that idea. Actually, the box is my favorite in this set. The deep blue color is nice too.

Have you watched the review po? I don't recommend this set actually. It's expensive para sa quality niya na opaque and medyo chalky. Para presyo nito, maraming mas ok like Sonnet or Superior. If you already own this, pwede naman pag tiyagaan for portrait or for any subject. Maraming colors so Versatile naman. Pero un nga, low quality ito as compared to many cheaper brands I've reviewed.

Hi. My work table is placed infront of a bay window. I placed 3 - 1"x1" wood sticks to Carry my phone on both facing walls of the bay overhead. And that's where i put my cam phone. ☺️

Personally, I am disappointed with the color selection of this particular set. Specially the cobalt blue and the grass green. Pretty packaging, but the colors aren't very good imo
Yeah I agree. those colors are weird here and the ultramarine too. my predictions were right.
Are they fugitive pigments?
That is the question now because they did not specify what Pigments they used.
