This is the first and only review I've seen of Seamiart watercolors that's in-depth, elaborating on its strengths and weaknesses, and being compared to an impressively wide variety of other watercolor sets, ranging from student grade to a professional grade set. I also like how I didn't even notice the video was 30 minutes long because of the way you talk, which is able to keep me entertained lol. I've been using Prang watercolors for 2 years now and I am very glad to have found this channel as I saw that your other videos are also very long and presumably similarly in-depth reviews of each product. That is very nice packaging for a budget paint set! I recently bought the 24 color sonnet set. In my neck of tne woods that is a relatively cheap option, if you don't want to spend the cash for artist grade quality. It just comes in a cardboard box, so I also bought a palette box.

Honestly, for the price you paid these don't look too bad. Not the same as something of higher quality, of course, but definitely useable if your budget is very limited. I can buy this set from Wish, but including shipping it's around 35 USD! That's how much I paid for the folding Superior set too - I didn't know any better at the time. For context, I paid a little bit *less* for a very lightly used secondhand 12 tube set of Sennelier L'Aquarelle (including the tin, not including the brush, the tubes look practically full). I paid 25 USD for my Pretty Excellent paints on Amazon UK, and have seen them for as low as 18 USD.
Yes, this set isnt really too bad at all. but for a shipping fee of 35usd, no, dont push it, unless you got some other stuff that go with it. Oh, Sennelier by all means,, one of the best. :)

I bought these paints for the palette. I was planning on just washing them out and putting in daniel Smith but i endedvup playing with them. It was fun to just play with them. I had to ignore paint names . So i ended up adding a Qor mixing medium and painting an tomato . It took more work and layers but i wasnt totally disappointed. I think i will continue to play with them.
They're lovely colours, i think it's more an issue of light fastness with the cheaper brands. Your swatches looked nicer than the Faber Castell that you had done previously.
Yes, these are better than the Faber Castell. In cheap paints, it's really not expected to be lightfast. They're more for trial and errors, and fun use. 🙏🎨😉

Interesting to see some cheap watercolors swatched - I've only been watching high -end swatch videos, so it's enlightening to see the differences. I think their ultramarine looks like Phthalo Blue Red Shade to me, but at least that's a pretty close hue match. I wonder if Yellow Gray was supposed to say Yellow Green - it looks like PY 150 to me. I love how your sample painting came out!

With the color payoff and vibrancy of these paints, there's no doubt you'd be able to make great work using them. The only issue is the lightfastness, otherwise, it's great. So just protect your outputs, store them well and everything is fine. We have to maximize what we have arpund, so kudos to that. 🙏

I painted a tomato with this AND THEN TOMATOES WITH 3 other cheap paint AND 3 professional. Of the student/ inexpensive these did surprisingly well. It was actually rather difficult to tell which was which paint. The major difference was the time spent to do each one. All of the student grades took at least twice..,sometimes 5 times the layers. ( this was my last comparison with these paints(

Love your review videos! I have to agree that calling a colour skin colour is a bit much- maybe they should have called it pale skin or something! I'm from Scotland and that still wouldn't be dark enough for me 😂😂 Always amazed at the artwork you create despite the quality of whatever paints you try out!

I saw something similar at the art supply online-shop where I order all my watercolor tubes and sometimes full pans and paper. It's really inexpensive but I think it's a dye-based paint set. Sometimes there is a lot of fillers too. But I don't know about the cheap sets... It's like a waist of money for me, even if there's a turquoise included. I like turquoises actually.
it is really a waste of money if you are gonna buy an item, but not gonna be using them because it didnt please you. so its better to checkout reviews first. I think the sets that are cheap or even those which are dye based are intended not to mislead but more to cater to those who have less to spend but want to experience. Certainly, if paint is too cheap, it is low quality. However, it is useable and is able to show which color is which. This set is cheap but visually, i can achieve the same painting i made using the more expensive paints.. The question now is, "how long will the painting last?" So, for cheap paints, i do not recommend it for professional or commission works. :)

Im hearing alot of info about their likeness.. And i think it is true. This set and the glittery set have versions same with Tokyo Finds.. I think, if this is true, wag ko nalang ireview, kasi sayang naman kung parehas lang pala sila dba, iba nalang. hahaha. and besides, mas mahal yung tokyo finds, rebranded kasi. That is what they do to Mungyo, when it is rebranded by Prima Marketing.

@@iaxxie713 thanks. Yeah, Watercolors are more economical and will last longer, that's why i always recommend buying the best that you can afford. Between Superior and Seamiart, I'd choose Superior. But if you can, please choose paints with pigment codes provided. Theyre more reliable when it comes to vibrancy and lightfatsness. One of the reliable but affordable paints that give the codes are the Sonnet Watercolors. For 745php, you have 16 full pans! It's twice the halfpans that superior and seamiart offer. Hello Allan, I love your reviews! I find them very useful and it's really fun to get your impressions. I had a question: what are the brushes you like best, and what are the brushes you use the most? I see you use a particular travel brush for painting out most of your review swatches and test paintings, but I've been going through your videos and I can't seem to find the information on what brush that is.
hi Francis. Thank you. I started telling the brushes i use only last week, at the Giorgione review. Hehe. In this seamiart review, i showed and mentioned it at 7:38 I only have few flat brushes. For the swatches, I only actually use my escoda optimo kolinsky 10 flat, or silver black velvet black velvet 1/4" flat or my royal aqualon 10 flat. For the sample painting, i use my SBV 4 travel brush alot. I think that's the youre curious about. , sometimes i use my escoda brushes, or isabey.. all travel brushes kasi maliliit ung sample paintings. my favorite brushes are the Kolinsky brushes.

Hello. The best way to know is to make a lightfastness test. Paint some samples of the colors and expose them to sun for a long time.. there are guidelines for sure. Another way to know is to identify the lightfastness rating of the pigments used in your paints. Artist grade paints usually have these ratings. Im gonna do a lightfastness test of all mh brands next years, once im done reviewing all. ☺️
Did you see the part where I compared this and Superior? Hehe. My vote, quality wise, still goes to Superior. Seamiart set is really for those who want a wide color selection at a very very low price. ☺️ Thank you. ☺️

I think I might get this. I'm thinking of getting into watercolor, but I don't want to buy something super expensive and pro level just yet. At the same time, I don't want dollar tree crap. This looks like it might be good.

That is very nice packaging for a budget paint set!
I recently bought the 24 color sonnet set. In my neck of tne woods that is a relatively cheap option, if you don't want to spend the cash for artist grade quality. It just comes in a cardboard box, so I also bought a palette box.
The sonnet watercolors are also really cheap for its quality. It is one of my most recommended sets and it's full pans!

Your safe with your Pretty Excellent set, unless you want something to play with for draft, this Seamiart could also work. :)
Honestly, for the price you paid these don't look too bad. Not the same as something of higher quality, of course, but definitely useable if your budget is very limited. I can buy this set from Wish, but including shipping it's around 35 USD! That's how much I paid for the folding Superior set too - I didn't know any better at the time.
For context, I paid a little bit *less* for a very lightly used secondhand 12 tube set of Sennelier L'Aquarelle (including the tin, not including the brush, the tubes look practically full). I paid 25 USD for my Pretty Excellent paints on Amazon UK, and have seen them for as low as 18 USD.
Yes, this set isnt really too bad at all. but for a shipping fee of 35usd, no, dont push it, unless you got some other stuff that go with it. Oh, Sennelier by all means,, one of the best. :)

I bought these paints for the palette. I was planning on just washing them out and putting in daniel Smith but i endedvup playing with them. It was fun to just play with them. I had to ignore paint names . So i ended up adding a Qor mixing medium and painting an tomato . It took more work and layers but i wasnt totally disappointed. I think i will continue to play with them.

They're lovely colours, i think it's more an issue of light fastness with the cheaper brands. Your swatches looked nicer than the Faber Castell that you had done previously.
Yes, these are better than the Faber Castell. In cheap paints, it's really not expected to be lightfast. They're more for trial and errors, and fun use. 🙏🎨😉

Interesting to see some cheap watercolors swatched - I've only been watching high -end swatch videos, so it's enlightening to see the differences. I think their ultramarine looks like Phthalo Blue Red Shade to me, but at least that's a pretty close hue match. I wonder if Yellow Gray was supposed to say Yellow Green - it looks like PY 150 to me. I love how your sample painting came out!

i have the same exact watercolor set. im a broke student so i chose that watercolor and yet i was able to make really good paintings with it
With the color payoff and vibrancy of these paints, there's no doubt you'd be able to make great work using them. The only issue is the lightfastness, otherwise, it's great. So just protect your outputs, store them well and everything is fine. We have to maximize what we have arpund, so kudos to that. 🙏

I painted a tomato with this AND THEN TOMATOES WITH 3 other cheap paint AND 3 professional. Of the student/ inexpensive these did surprisingly well. It was actually rather difficult to tell which was which paint. The major difference was the time spent to do each one. All of the student grades took at least twice..,sometimes 5 times the layers. ( this was my last comparison with these paints(

Love your review videos! I have to agree that calling a colour skin colour is a bit much- maybe they should have called it pale skin or something! I'm from Scotland and that still wouldn't be dark enough for me 😂😂

I saw something similar at the art supply online-shop where I order all my watercolor tubes and sometimes full pans and paper. It's really inexpensive but I think it's a dye-based paint set. Sometimes there is a lot of fillers too. But I don't know about the cheap sets... It's like a waist of money for me, even if there's a turquoise included. I like turquoises actually.
it is really a waste of money if you are gonna buy an item, but not gonna be using them because it didnt please you. so its better to checkout reviews first. I think the sets that are cheap or even those which are dye based are intended not to mislead but more to cater to those who have less to spend but want to experience. Certainly, if paint is too cheap, it is low quality. However, it is useable and is able to show which color is which. This set is cheap but visually, i can achieve the same painting i made using the more expensive paints.. The question now is, "how long will the painting last?" So, for cheap paints, i do not recommend it for professional or commission works. :)

Im hearing alot of info about their likeness.. And i think it is true. This set and the glittery set have versions same with Tokyo Finds.. I think, if this is true, wag ko nalang ireview, kasi sayang naman kung parehas lang pala sila dba, iba nalang. hahaha. and besides, mas mahal yung tokyo finds, rebranded kasi. That is what they do to Mungyo, when it is rebranded by Prima Marketing.

@@iaxxie713 thanks. Yeah, Watercolors are more economical and will last longer, that's why i always recommend buying the best that you can afford. Between Superior and Seamiart, I'd choose Superior. But if you can, please choose paints with pigment codes provided. Theyre more reliable when it comes to vibrancy and lightfatsness. One of the reliable but affordable paints that give the codes are the Sonnet Watercolors. For 745php, you have 16 full pans! It's twice the halfpans that superior and seamiart offer. So it's actually more practical. I have Sonnet and other choices in my shopee store. You may want to check it out. 😊

Hello Allan, I love your reviews! I find them very useful and it's really fun to get your impressions. I had a question: what are the brushes you like best, and what are the brushes you use the most? I see you use a particular travel brush for painting out most of your review swatches and test paintings, but I've been going through your videos and I can't seem to find the information on what brush that is.

I started telling the brushes i use only last week, at the Giorgione review. Hehe. In this seamiart review, i showed and mentioned it at 7:38
I only have few flat brushes. For the swatches, I only actually use my escoda optimo kolinsky 10 flat, or silver black velvet black velvet 1/4" flat or my royal aqualon 10 flat.
For the sample painting, i use my SBV 4 travel brush alot. I think that's the youre curious about. , sometimes i use my escoda brushes, or isabey.. all travel brushes kasi maliliit ung sample paintings. my favorite brushes are the Kolinsky brushes.

Hello. The best way to know is to make a lightfastness test. Paint some samples of the colors and expose them to sun for a long time.. there are guidelines for sure. Another way to know is to identify the lightfastness rating of the pigments used in your paints. Artist grade paints usually have these ratings. Im gonna do a lightfastness test of all mh brands next years, once im done reviewing all. ☺️
