This kid has absolutely everything. Total facility, total musicality, great taste and phrasing. I know Holdsworth is an influence, but to my ear Mancuso is much more musically consonant. Amazing.
I wonder how many of Matteo's honored critics would be willing to get upon the stage with him? This kid is fantastic tone, spacing, time, feel. Every single composition he covered is a masterpiece. I hope he develops into the composer and arranger on the level of musician he already is
I was a freshman in high school when Eddie came on the scene...I was too young to understand what he did to the music scene... Now I'm witnessing it with this kid... Game changer.
His father, Vincenzo Mancuso, was for years the guitarist (live/studio) of one of the most important Italian singer-songwriters, Francesco De Gregori. He grew up in the middle of Music and with Music (the serious Music, not the shit we're forced to listen to today) for which he was "marked" to become an excellent musician !!! :)
Good to know I was very self conscious of my guitar after hearing him , but I am self taught and have only been playing for 4 years or so so I won’t give up
@@Iambrettreddell Man you get players who’ve had great training and after 20 years still can’t play that great. And you get people like andy james who was completely self taught and is now one of the biggest names in guitar. It’s all up to you. I know someone who could play the sweet child o mine solo after 2 years and i also know someone who’s only got to grade 5 after 10 years. Put your mind and effort to it and you’ll progress

Truly one of the most gifted guitarists of this era. He's the logical successor to Guthrie Govan with his stunning technique, range and feel. I expect him to be study material in music schools. Let's hope he continues to play and entertain us with his magic for decades to come!
Virtuosity in a cold climate. For me, he's the most exciting young player out there. His awareness of what he's doing, communicates directly with the audience.
Ha - loved the celebration when he nailed that Guthrie tapping section on the second attempt. His improvisations over the track show his obvious technical prowess. Amazing player!
A true master of the instrument. His musicality and fluency are unlike anything heard before. Yes, the references to Holdsworth and the more recent Govan are there, but Matteo brings them to a whole new level of excellence. Grandissimo.
Great stuff, Matteo. Your right hand technique is impeccable and more unique than any other electric player around, ever. Looking forward to seeing your growth as the years proceed.
Any time I listen to MM feel excitement. We are witnessing an exceptional musician, one who is a rare gem, among the greatest ones. And he is so young his future is bright! Thx for the great uploading.
It’s interesting how he plays at two angles for his right hand, one where it’s the position for playing a pick at 45 degrees (but without a pick), and another angle where it’s more like classical guitar so he can pluck the strings directly up. The first angle enables more string muting because the thumb can rest on the bottom strings, but the second angle enables a crisper sound because he is plucking straight up instead of at a diagonal angle. Both hand positions have their use.
A lot of classical players switch from the first position of the RH to the other position for different reasons. I know when I play usually my RH is mainly in the first hand position, and then switch to the more direct angle for rest strokes and/or a brighter tone. I think he does the different angle for speed and rest strokes a lot.
Matteo, simply a superior mind. Everything starts from the brain. Technique, musical creative ideas, phrasing, musicality and more are direct consequences. First of all, he has an incredible head, that's what I think. In every musical genre his performance is the top.

He does know what he is doing. I am amazed how much talent he has, and he looks so genuine. This is the discovery of the year for me.
Negative comments about this young man's playing here? Why? His command of the instrument, Technical ability and absolute Nuance playing are unparalleled. He's brilliant and oh by the way check out his right hand.
Delicate playing, just amazing. The rockish solo sound very flashy, cannot believe he was picking all those notes. Wow, hope to hear more from this out of this world guitar player. Best wishes.
No doubt. It just lacks the "listenability".. It's too all over the place to be readily enjoyable.. If it had some steady rock hooks and grooves it would be more accessible.. I'm sure many will disagree though
