Matteo's sound is so natural he uses a bush instead of an amplifier/speaker.
underrated comment
Yeah but it's a really big bush
The Bush is of the tonewood variety evidently. Lol
Ha ha!
🤣ahahahaha made ny day 👍
Maybe everyone is here because of Matteo, but the whole band is outstanding (incredible tone and phrasing from the bass). Loved this rendition of Footprints.
you are right. Band kicks ass
..ciao Alessandro!..I’ve been thinking the same way for awhile now, no one should be overlooked here, they are all excellent musicians who know how to listen 🎧..I like Matteo’s composition also..vibes from New York..stay safe and stay strong..June 8, 2021..
@@victormusic01x yes! What a pleasure to be allowed to listen to this music!
Of course (to me) but i totally agree with you :)
You are so right. This band is off the charts good. It would be a mistake to let Matteo overshadow (though I get that is hard). Drummer and Bass are on point.
Seth Rogen absolutely killing it on bass
That's exactly what I thought
The secret is in the weed
Only a little he is Roganeque but still normal looking, but he gets down
LOL!!
came here to comment the same thing
Drummer keeping perfect time on each song, Bass player adding his own licks and Matteo with all the Expressions, feeling each note. 18 minuets of variety with Matteo showing all of us that he has to be considered as one of the Best all around Guitarist in the world
Shout out to the sound engineer, mad respect for this mix
It sounds incredible
Indeed!
Impecable production. These drums. How?
@@leyvua7362 They are playing outside, the tone of a drum kit is much drier in open space (plus the post production and added efxs)
The overall sound is indeed very good, genuine, dynamic and clean.
Yea respect for the sound
This kid sounds like he has been playing guitar for over 100 years
Maybe he is :).
And practicing 10 hours a day every day
i think musical reincarnation is a thing, like if you spend enough time playing music you can connect with your past life music experiences, doesn't give you new muscle memory but it could help improve your ear and ability to create new tunes.
@@harmondraws fact.
It‘s also why highly musical children will incarnate into families with gifted musicians in them.
It‘s not only that the children are taught well by musical parents.... oftentimes they are highly musical souls already like Matteo Mancuso here that chooses the parents at least in part also because of the fertile soil it provides them to unfold their ear and musicality.
LingLing
I've watched this probably 50 times over the last year. Unbelievable talent
You should watch it again. Just sayin' ✌️
You should watch it again. Just sayin' ✌️
Holy FUCK this is amazing. Everything about it is dead-on perfect. Honestly, I have to give tremendous props to the bassist and drummer. To play at this level with someone like Matteo and utterly murder it like they have here is worthy of huge recognition and respect. The bass player in particular is just wonderful to watch as a counter statement to Mancuso’s otherworldly chops and harmonic sophistication. He has a powerful presence and contextualizes each piece wonderfully without overplaying. The drummer is in the pocket and provides an ideal foundation for the sound as a whole, all while remaining clearly relaxed and comfortable. The musical competence and cohesion here is so palpable, and considering the age of the players it is almost difficult to comprehend as being possible. These guys deserve far more recognition.
That bassist is a beast
Absolutely agree. The bass player is awesome. I can't wait to hear more of these guys.
but is he as good as Davie504.....haha just joking
@@Bluegrasshero lmao, you got me in the first half
Wonderfully said!
The next step in guitar playing evolution…this kid is unbelievable.
He is playing with a level of finesse and finger style technique that I and apparently many others take notice of. I don’t know if you play guitar but any player will tell you how this kid is pulling of these high speed lines is not a common approach. Name another player that plays with this kind of precision using this approach. I can only think of Paco Delucia but even then he doesn’t play this style of fusion. This is an evolution for the younger generation, this kid learned from the masters and added something to it…
@@biorythmicshifter If you want fingerstyle madness you just have to search deep enough... Pasquale Grasso is also a young cat playing with insane finger technique. Different type of Jazz tho
@@biorythmicshifter His fingerstyle approach is definitely a unique preference and I think he's a hell of a player, but if you knew nothing about the guy and just happened to be listening to this audio - would you even notice that he wasn't using a pick on those 'high speed lines'? I've played for 20 years and I wouldn't have - it's only obvious on those more traditional fingerstyle 'let ring' arpeggios.
Those Italians... Centuries of genius
@@biscobisco1882 the tone is very fingerish, I wouldn't immediately guess he uses only fingers the way he does but I''d definitely be puzzled about it.
I'm 57. 'Been plying for guitar since I was 12. It's now official. Matteo is my new all-time favorite guitarist. Period!
When you can sit down and play an acoustic duet with Al di Meola, without being intimidated, that's when you know you've arrived.
What a great future Matteo has!
I actually liked Matteo's clean licks and speed over Al's hard-picked riffs. Like them both, they're great.
I keep hearing "Jazz is dying", "What can be done to save Jazz", and I keep seeing great young talent from all over the world playing it and playing it well. Cheers, Matteo and company.
As Frank Zappa said "Jazz is not Dead. it just smells funny"😄. This band is just the newest talented young folks adding their voice to a never ending art form. Dam, they are all frikin awesome.
The bass players stage presence are golden
These kids all have a basically guaranteed music career playing Jazz/Fusion that they enjoy. That is so much better than being a rock star. I'm envious.
We need a full Mancuso Trio album! NOW! With their own songs.
I'm gonna rip this to mp3 😉
Yes!
Nothing wrong with playing covers at this level of playing. Not every musician is gifted with composing skills. In classical music this is very common. Why not in jazz?
@@driexxx The third tune is by Mancuso and I'd say it's pretty damn good. Especially considering it just followed what is probably the most satisfying Holdsworth cover I've ever heard. No?
@@ElrondHubbard_1 I found his own music the best. What is that fucking solo @13:55
I’m sure this put a big smile across Allans face. The torch has been passed into a very capable mind and hands.
To say nothing of the Captain Fingers vibe on Fingerprints!
Immenso ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow! What the fuck? This kid is like cross between Holdsworth and Eric Johnson. But the rhythm section is equally impressive. I’m buying a ticket for Italy.
yeah me too ^^^ (to Sicily my mother's country)
N im gonna stay there forever coz the island is just superb....
N the women beyond any words (Pls be careful with the brothers)
And Guthrie Govan ?
That kid is maybe the best talent today..... its not only the technique , ..you can find technique in many players , its the way he thinks plays & touches the strings ... he doesnt play like a kid , he has a wiser ''mature'' kind of approach...... Congrats to all the band of course.....
What player can do that with no pick?
The bass player is very good too guys. I just hope he finds whatever he was looking for on the ground.
Damn car keys 😡
@@StefanoIndia ..ciao Stefano!..you guys sound great man, I like the way you and Giuseppe play together, tight like my Berklee brother Victor Bailey RIP and Omar Hakim played in Weather Report..awesome amico..jazz lives..vibes from New York June 18, 2021..
If you are not looking at what you are playing then you are playing with feeling- he found it.
@Dickie Moe75 From the way he plays with his right hand i'd say he doesn't own a pick.
He's tryna ground the band
This is the Live at Pompeii of the jazz fusion world. Antiquity and avant-garde music in one jawdropping package.
Pompeii is weirdness. Awful Monstrosity. The best thing I've ever heard
This is Avant garde music?
@Adrian R the 3d piece is by MM
@@supmet2 avant garde from the late 70s / 80s. But great music. Great trio
Elevator/supermarket music
that's an excellent drummer right there
Mateo deserves to be considered among the 50 best guitarists of all time. He handles all the techniques, plays with an impressive feeling and the phrasings are incredible.
Heard a lot of great music in the last 50 plus years, Miles, Bill Evans, Thelonious, McLaughlin but this trio is the next level. Bassist is closest to Jaco I have heard (dare I say better?) guitar mind blowing. Welcome to the future!
Remarkable, let's not forget the sound engineer here and the mix, particularly on the drums with the mic outdoors.
My new hero! Amazing player! I’ve been playing guitar for 58 years, seen them all, heard them all, Matteo is far-far away from anybody. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I came for Matteo but stayed for Stefano.
How many times have I died listening to footprints done wrong ? A lot Well done lads, rip it
Wow! Technically almost identical to Claudio Quartarone right hand
Who knew Seth Rogen was such a fantastic bass player 😄 loved every second of that performance!
Stefano India is killing it !!!! What a phenomenal bassist !!!!!!!
very exciting bass solo in the Holdsworth song

Saudações do Brasil! Ciao!!! 👍💪🎸🎸🍺🍺🇧🇷

Glory to GOD❤
Dude is like a whole dictionary of Holdsworth, Gambale, Henderson, Metheny and more combined! So awesome!
I honestly think he’s the best player in the world. He’s technically amazing and so great to listen to-the two don’t necessarily go hand in hand. And is he even 25??
@@HazHarpo yeah man his lines are terrific! Although the new guard of guitarists are really, reaaally good - check out Mateus Asato, Andre Nieri.
Great guitarist. I miss Holdsworth--glad someone is playing his music.
His playing is like the perfect harmony of allan holds worth, guthrie, Eric johnson and Shawn lane. Such a talented guy 👏
His new stuff is like Mark Knopfler + Jeff Beck
He never stops...!!!
I’ve just been watching this incredible performance over and over. Allan Holdsworth would be so happy to see young artists taking up his legacy and doing it such justice. Unbelievable talent and musicianship. Bravo!!
Dove arriverete ? Matteo caposcuola secondo a nessuno, velocità, precisione, pulizia, tecnica e tanto tanto cuore !!!!

It’s so great to see Matteo playing live with other players again. I think that’s where his playing is going to really evolve even further, in his interaction with other musicians. He is such an incredible talent
When a country is able to show his magnificient past and heritage join with his brilliant future. Matteo and his fantastic friends hosted in one of the most suggestive scenery of the world...really di you need other?
Speechless! What a trio. Matteo’s right hand technique is ‘dal futuro jazz’.
The runs starting from 7:26 from Matteo are just something else.

In a word: GNAARRRRLY!!💪😁
Hard pushed to find a better trio even in the days when this sort of music was in full action all over Europe & the states. Credit to this band, subtlety and full of rock inspired solos, along with jazz intonations all in one. I admire these guys, this genre is not popular, their talent is enough to make them a lot of money, instead they chose art. Bravo.
Matteo's own piece is magnificent
You can tell they really enjoy playing with each other, not a slouch among them!
Allan Holdsworth would be proud of you guys! RIP
The sound of A.H. is so unique!
To say nothing of Captain Fingers on the Footprints cover!
Matteo is so talented and this is a great performance for sure - the Holdsworth cover is outright smoking - especially the Berlin bass lines, this bass player is really, really good - what a treat this band is...
This is Footprints by Wayne Shorter. An instrumental jazz standard. Beautifully done.
All three a brilliant!
"Time to leave" is a true masterpiece...
When you think that music has become stale, boring and predictable, along comes the next generation of players to amaze us. Mancuso is the most talented guitarist since Guthrie Govan.
If only Guthrie would write and release a new solo album. I suspect his introversion dissuades him. Aristocrats are always great but they lack a certain je ne sais quoi.
@@Kweesh I think that for perfectionists like Guthrie and Matteo, releasing an album is harder than most people realize. What a pity though. If I am as talented as them, I would release an album every week. I wouldn't be so fussy about it.

@@dannyhood8857 Buckethead is the GOAT for tendencies like that. I love the fact that he basically gives zero fucks about self-promotion or confining himself to operating within a specific stylistic framework. He just blatantly loves guitar and music, and puts out as much of it as he possibly can in as many styles as he can. There are much better technical players than Bucket (Matteo is a good example) but in terms of sheer artistry and integrity, Buckethead remains in a class of his own.

I'm 64 yrs old. Been playing pro for over 35 years. Listened to alot guitarist in my time. Learned alot from Terry Cath (Chicago), Hendrix, Frampton, Prince. Never got into to the big names that really aren't anything special ... the Claptons, & Pages of the world. I love Valen, Via, even Guthrie. But in my honest musical opinion, I honestly believe Matteo Mancuso is several level ahead of EVERYONE! Plays so clean and his approach is amazing! The incredible think is he plays jazz better than most if not all jazz players, the same for fusion, rock, classical, country, blues.. I though Tommy Emanuel was the closest to the mist complete player, but Matteo is even better. And he's only 24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely agree
you're right
Un suono cristallino... Una tecnica che impressiona. Che spettacolo!
So much here. I wondered how you'd explain to the people who built the gorgeous ancient ruins in the background what they're witnessing, if they were here today. You'd have to explain electricity, what these instruments are and how they work. What the drone is that's taking the overhead shots, the microphones, the speakers, the magic tech. Or you could just shut your yappin' mouth and let them listen to the music, which they'd understand, despite the disconnect of their years. Matteo... such a singular talent. What's next in modern guitar? He's the one going to show us all.
they'd be just as puzzled about the purpose of bass solos too
I had the exact same thought watching Pink Floyd's performancve at Pompéi !
They'd wonder when testosterone was outlawed. Sorry, gave it my shot, but the future of guitar is nowhere near this boring. Hate the sound of his technique, and the downsides are obvious to hear, but thats a personal problem.

Bravissimi davvero!
