What type of shelves do you have? They look cool. I just got a bit confused when you put the price of items in one place then list the total of $21.44 as an expense. It only becomes an expense when it’s actually sold hence cost of goods sold. Did I get this wrong? I need to start this but feel really overwhelmed starting…..just subscribed to your channel

Margo Schembre I did customize it a bit. I added category, brand, and size because I like tracking that information. I cut out date purchased because I realized it was more work that wasn’t totally necessary - date listed is much more valuable! It was tricky to add columns though, since a lot of her formulas are really specific to her spreadsheet, so it did take a couple hours
I do not currently, but I have considered it. Right now my shipping station is at home, so I just go to the unit (it’s less than a mile away) and package everything at home. I only ship 3 times a week, so it’s manageable.

Do you recycle your inventory number bags that your store in your bins once an item sells? Great video. I have an overwhelming spreadsheet and even bought one that keeps the inventory averages etc. you made it look so easy. It’s a ton of work and daunting at times!!
CK Robinson thank you so much! I’m still always trying to improve my system and spreadsheet so things don’t feel redundant. I do keep and reuse the inventory bags. If I have too many bags, I know I need to go thrifting!
That is so smart for the eBay portion. I’ve been trying to figure it out since sometimes I paid less for shipping when purchasing the label then what the buyer paid since eBay does the discounted shipping.
Ebay can be such a hassle for tracking purposes! Sometimes I promote a listing too, so I have to remember to calculate that in. I usually double check my numbers once a month with the sell page on eBay to make sure everything is pretty accurate 👍🏼

Thank you so much for watching! I use gallon bags typically, but also have a larger size for bulkier sweaters/jackets, etc. The gallon bags work for almost everything though - jeans, dresses, tops :)
Very organized BUT try taking in account the amount of time you spent with not so necessary info entered here such as (how many days it took to sell) and account that as COST of doing business as well. You may find that while organization is key - going over the board with it will cost you money.
Hi! I think it’s totally up to you, but I started this process when I had over 100 items in inventory. At that point, it was hard to keep track of where everything was without a system. I did keep track of how much I spent on inventory from day 1 though!

Watch your video halfway, hopefully I don't miss anything. I just thought the spreadsheet details thing is not necessary and time consuming. A lot of time when you buy for one place, you just do an aggregate of how much you pay, and when you sell something, there is really no need to write down every single detail. eBay provide report for you weekly - which you can take: the sales amount, fees, etc. Postage is again aggregate, for example if you ahve an account with post office or carrier. The easiest way to do is to have one file for sale, you can write down weekly amount, then another spreadsheet for list of expenses: date, what expense it is then amount. Your system may be good if you accepting consignment from someone.
Love, Love the video. However, can't really see all the tabs and excel formulas you use on each spreadsheet. Would really like to see another vidoe on your spreadsheets from beginning to end of your process.
Question for me personally as I am thinking about a storage unit, is your unit climate controlled? I'm afraid to get one that is not climate controlled because of mold and other environmental damage. I know they are more expensive, but I just feel I have no choice. Could I get your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance, Kim
Kimberly Robinson This was something I went back and forth on too! Mine is climate controlled. I talked to the manager of the storage unit and he said for clothes and shoes, he does recommend going with a climate controlled unit. It keeps the clothes from humidity and sometimes that can create an odor which would be such a nightmare to have to deal with! It’s a little pricier but I think it’s worth it for the peace of mind 👍🏼
Diane Schultz mine is down the street! I can walk there in 15 mins or drive in 3. I paid a little extra for the closest possible unit instead of paying less for one farther away, and I’m SO glad I made that decision
Does anyone know if you sell items on Facebook marketplace let's say for example clothing like in this video, can you consider yourself a home-based business, can you get an assumed name or LLC? I don't quite how know how this works when it comes to Facebook marketplace.

seems like a lot of work, have you since streamlined this? just seems like a lot of wasted time, esp if your data input is not already in the csv format that ebay requires to make draft listings

What about taxes
You have to track all your expenses, fees, etc and then pay taxes on your taxable income. I work with an accountant on that

Unit looks like it holds alit of dirt/dust and mold
Special K haven’t seen any mold - all of the clothes are sealed in plastic bags in plastic bins, so not too worried about dirt or dust either :)
