Just did an E4 opening and my opponent played Caro-Kann. I did as you said, swarmed the right wing and basically broke through the line of defense and trapped the dark-squared bishop. Then I pushed my knights into the right wing, forked the rook and trapped the queen, and then it was over. I traded my knights for a knight and a bishop, unleashed my diagonals and my queen forked out the remaining knight and bishop. The king got trapped on the last row and I rode a passed pawn to victory. Thanks Levy!

Do you cover the Vienna in a lot of depth Gotham? I often play it as a way to minimise the variations I have to face in the KGA. But I hadn't previously appreciated that you can get situations where it is worse, like if you treat the D5 line like a normal Falkbeer - not good.
I like the fried liver! Sometimes it turns into the giucio piano or four knights :). I took your advice on the Scandinavian about playing my kings knight rather than attacking the queen with my other knight and I usually win those games
The first TWO minutes of this video is your entire repertoire against 1 ... e5. As a strong class A player and 3-time county and city champion, I am here to agree that the Vienna Gambit is awe inspiring. I have torn 1800+ players and lower a new one with it because they don't know it, and I have gotten draws and wins against 2200 players with it all day long. It can lead to VERY strong attacks. It was strong enough that I convinced those master strength players to stop playing ... e5 against me. No joke.
Yeh d6 is a nice developing move, the issue with it and why Gotham is not worried about it is d6 will be met with queen takes g7 then moving to take the rook is almost unavoidable. Then once the queen takes rook your idea (I'm assuming) of bishop g4 putting the king in check can be met with knight G3 blocking the check and then if trades bishop for knight and queen takes pawn then you still have (whites white bishop) bishop e2 to defend and white is up a lot of material. Sorry this was a bit long and confusing- if u want me to describe in a different way I can but that's the full answer from a mediocre chess player hope u understand
This 11 minutes feels like hours.. Love watching your vids.. And for now.. I'll just focus on one opening (e4), and still it's information overload. It's fun that I do have the names of those moves I used way back as a child.

This is like my 1000th Gotham video I feel, and I thought, what am I going to learn in a video called e4? But there is a shocking amount of information packed into 10 minutes, geez!
Rock Climbing! Chess seems to help loads with sequence visualization, climbing move choice, and blitz chess is great for developing 'calmness under pressure'. Love your content thanks Gotham!
Favourite e-sport is Dota 2, saw your Wagamama coaching session and what he said about being humbled by learning a new game struck a chord with me. Hoping that after my month long break from playing Dota 2 to learn chess will teach me some valuable concepts and ideas that I can transfer over. Thanks for the content, it’s really helping me get started.
I'm a mediocre player but I've been opening 90% of my games with white with e4 since I was a kid, and I recognize a lot of those patterns. Against the average amateur, it's pretty easy to improvise the rest of the opening based on their moves and end up in a pretty good position. Great flexibility and few obvious traps.
Favorite sports with favorite teams & athletes: 1- SOCCER (Galatasaray + Turkey) 2- BASKETBALL (look above + love NBA in general) 3- MMA (Khabib, Lyoto Machida, Randy Couture, GSP + anyone who fights against Conor) 4- BOXING (George Foreman, Tommy Hearns, Roy Jones, Vitali Klitschko) 5- US FOOTBALL (Panthers, Tom Brady) Played soccer & basketball and boxed for years. Couldn't do MMA and US football.

"1.e4, best by test"
Alpha zero agrees. But Bobby already knew that.
This 11 minutes feels like hours.. Love watching your vids.. And for now.. I'll just focus on one opening (e4), and still it's information overload. It's fun that I do have the names of those moves I used way back as a child.
Found this from Google recommendations
Do you have any suggestions for playing the Ruy Lopez opening? I love playing this when I get the chance and would appreciate any input on lines to play and any other ideas!
This is too fast! 😫 I'm new
Put the video speed to 0,5 :D
This is like my 1000th Gotham video I feel, and I thought, what am I going to learn in a video called e4? But there is a shocking amount of information packed into 10 minutes, geez!
Watching this in 2022…Levy has come so far.
Just bought the e4 course for my tournament in a couple weeks. Can't wait.
Good luck with the tournament 👍
I'm a mediocre player but I've been opening 90% of my games with white with e4 since I was a kid, and I recognize a lot of those patterns. Against the average amateur, it's pretty easy to improvise the rest of the opening based on their moves and end up in a pretty good position. Great flexibility and few obvious traps.
WOW. I'm not a good chess player but this helped me a lot. Thank you GothamChess!
Wow i really liked the system at 7:03, what is it called? just the tricky system? or is it the Gotham system? :D
im a beginner at chess so i may sound stupid but how is 7:49 checkmate? the pawn on e7 can still take the knight right?
He can't cus the pawn is pinned directly to the queen
If the pawn would be able to take the queen would put the king in check so it cant take
Do you recommend the italian game if we are willing to learn one response against the 3 common black responses(Nf6, Bc5,Be7)?
Me a D4 player feeling like he is in a secret meeting.
Favorite sports with favorite teams & athletes:

2- BASKETBALL (look above + love NBA in general)
3- MMA (Khabib, Lyoto Machida, Randy Couture, GSP + anyone who fights against Conor)
4- BOXING (George Foreman, Tommy Hearns, Roy Jones, Vitali Klitschko)
5- US FOOTBALL (Panthers, Tom Brady)
Played soccer & basketball and boxed for years. Couldn't do MMA and US football.
02:16 isn't that giuoco piano though? (these names are in the thousands and they drive me crazy tbf)
Sir I think that the Grand Prix is slightly better than closed Sicilian with g3. I personally have played both and I have got better results with Grand Prix Attack. Please suggest something on this topic 🙏. Thanks
4:35 what happens with black's queen to a5 here? I was trying to think about it and it looks pretty good for black to me. But I'm not exactly amazing at chess, so I probably overlooked a Botez gambit or something lol
I think you can develop the dark squared bishop so that the rook will be defended and the discovered attack is threatened
:) see? I'm always overlooking something lol
Watching from Lisbon, Portugal. Merry Xmas!
Got my buddy with a little varied version of that knight checkmate

Wouldn't playing black pawn to D5 be declining the Vienna Gambit?
Can you do an in-depth for Vienna gambit? There's only a few half decent videos out there at the moment
Zaaxi it’s in his course he has for sale
Funny how much confidence Gotham has gotten since this video, very noticeable shift in personality.
