Great video recap of your trip! I did this trail as well and stayed at the reservoir campgrounds. It was so cool having a picnic table. Such luxury for a backpacker! Beautiful views and quiet. I was lucky as there was only 1 other person camping. Fall season is rolling around again and this video makes me want to do this trail again! I love being near the creek, too. It's quite special. ps I'm from Cleveland, OH.
Make sure you don’t go to any of the boat in campgrounds during summer lol. I have a video up of Tracy Ridge which is also in the ANF, we ended up night hiking out because of the drunks.
I bet I end up here a lot. I’m 3-4 hours from all of the Ohio trails so Allegheny is actually closer than most trails in my home state. It’s also WAY better than any Ohio trail. I’ll be coming back for sure. Thanks for watching!
i’ll be heading to allegheny here at the end of the month. 2 person 2 dogs backpacking trip, how much water did you bring for your hike and were there any spots to refill?
I almost always carry two liters. Depending on how fast you move, might be able to get away with one. There’s a creek along the trail and also an entire lake lol, so there’s places to filter.
I'm planning my first solo backpacking trip here soon in Allegheny National. Is the Morrison Trail a good place for my first solo excursion? I was also looking at the Hickory Creek Nature Trail.
A few years ago I attempted the Hickory Creek Trail but soon the trail evaporated. It was gone. It is being turned back to natural lands and not maintained as a trail. Luckily I saw in the map that I could make a right and follow the creek to the Tanbark Trail, which is what I did then camped at an established site on the creek and Tanbark Trail (awesome site) then was able to hike back up Tanbark trail to the road and car.
Really glad I found your channel. Being from Ohio I am always looking for near by backpacking trips. I've been to ANF dozens of times and have always passed on this trail, I'm going to have to check it out! Solo one night trips are often the best. Really awesome way to just get out and decompress, I'm planning on one next weekend. I also like that these smaller trips allow me to test out new gear or even pack a little heavy and cook a real meal! I purchased a Grayl for southern Ohio but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'll be checking out your FB group for sure!
WOW BEAUTIFUL SCENERY ESPECIALLY AROUND THE RIVER VERY NICE CAMPFIRE LOOKED WARM AND COZY TREE WITH THE POTTED PLANT WAS PRETT UNUSUAL BUT COOL HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD TIME AND MADE IT TO YOUR PARTY ON TIME, SOUNDED PRETTY WINDY SCENERY WAS GORGEOUS ALONG WITH ALL YOUR INFOR ON PRODUCTS HAVE A GREAT ONE
First time I’ve ever been. Definitely going back a lot in the future. I’m 3-4 hours from all the Ohio trails and Allegheny is MUCH better so I feel like it’s gonna be a go to for quick trips in the future. Thanks for watching!
Hey BnB, good vid of Kinzua, i hiked on the NCT just north of you last summer, BEAUTIFUL! used that little Sawyer water bag once, upgraded to a gravity feed system, for me it was a lot faster than collecting water in that little plastic bag!
Yeah the squeeze isn’t my favorite tbh. I’ve had two filters fail on me and two bags. It’s been about three years since I used one so I’m hoping some QC issues have been fixed, mainly the leaky bags. I’m going to field test it for a while then put out a review and compare to the Grayl. I’ll probably end up cutting down a water bottle to use for a scoop, but this is literally the first time I’ve had it out on a trip. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it!
I know what you mean about squeezing trips in. I'm going down to Lake Hope from Cleveland this Sunday because next Monday and Tuesday is "Fall break" at work, so I took a day off to squeeze a trip in. Oh, one suggestion: A link in the description to the trail you're hiking would be nice. Even if it was just the map coordinates to the trailhead. But knowing permit requirements, etc. would be very helpful.
I’ve been considering adding trail info in the description. My problem is having the time. I run seven gyms as a regional manager, own two gyms, do online coaching and have the RUclips channel. I’m barely getting my weekly videos out. I’ve tinkered with the idea of it, but I want to do it right and I haven’t figured out what I want to do just yet. Appreciate the suggestion though for sure.
Another Buckeye here... I am doing the NCT100 this year and have plans to get a 2 night trip to the Allegheny Mountains this June to get some of my NCT miles in the ANF. Were you on the NCT?
Love it.Amazing place to hike and camp. Come back soon! We'd love to keep having you.
Love colours in the trees
The leaves and the wind were awesome!
Thanks for the tips. I'll use them.
Thanks for watching!

I really liked Morrison, been there twice. I’d highly recommend going ASAP before boating season.

It was a great trail. It’s the same distance from me as the SE Ohio trails but MUCH better. I’ll definitely be going more often. Thanks for watching!
Good to see a reservoir that seems to be full (says the Californian).
Another beautiful vid - thanks!
Haha, I haven’t been to CA since 2012. Beautiful state, good hiking up north. I can’t wait to get back out west next year. Thanks for watching!

Very windy, but it was beautiful
Beautiful fall colors especially overlooking the water. Nice trip!
It was a very memorable trip, thanks for tuning in!
Looks like a very cool place to hike. The Fall color is amazing. Cheers! 🥃
Yeah I lucked out. Weather and leaves made for an awesome experience. As always, thanks for watching!
Great adventure! Thank you for sharing! What backpack is that?
Zpacks Arc Air 50, thanks for watching!
Heading over there from Ohio in a couple of weeks myself. It is a beautiful area.

I'll be hitting that area this weekend (from Ohio as well). Hopefully those fall colors will be in full force by then.
Hopefully some of them are still left on the trees. The wind was raging when I was out there, it was a constant snowfall of leaves lol.

Watching your video - I may need to make a run out there next fall also
Nope, I was in the valley across from the NCT but was never actually on it. It’s probably 1-2 miles away.
