I really respect how you speak about books you don't all the way enjoy. It's really a breath of fresh air to see someone not just dunk on something they didn't like and try to be objective and analytical about what IS good about it. You're the best man

The (lesser known) books that are still stuck in my head this year:
The Gutter Prayer - Gareth Hanrahan
    Titanborn - Rhett C Bruno
    The Forever - Craig Robertson
The Jigsaw Blade - Steve Collier
    Low Town - Daniel Polansky
    Devil's Desk - Mark Tufo
The Fragment of Water - Ben Hale
It''s been a fun year so far 🤓

I've just finished Legends and Lattes and really enjoyed it. I found myself becoming attached to the characters and family they built. I've got Bookshops and Bonedust on hold at the library and cannot wait to read 😊

My favorite read of the year was probably assistant to the villain or a thousand pieces of you. I think you would like both of these even though a thousand pieces of toy is more YA!

lol this is me always for thumbnails, because most of what I read is audiobooks or library books. It's kind of fun trying to pick books off my shelf that I feel like look similar-ish to what I actually read :P

I will never get enough of your DCC gushing 🤣Also, couldn't agree more on The Blood Stones, War Song, and In the Shadow of Their Dying. All such great indie reads! Hope Q2 will have some great things in store for you :)))

One thing I cut from the video was how many emotional moments are in books 5&6 too! They’re great

You have convinced me to read How to Lose the Time War. 🙃 The prose sound a bit like Vandermeer's in the Southern Reach trilogy, which I just finished and loved.

Exactly my take on Seven Swords !! Really fun and satisfying break from the doorstops I've been devouring.
Maybe the sexual undertones of Firies were the Roman aspect? 😂😉
You need to try Mimic & Me. Jeff Hayes is one of the narrators 😉

I’ve heard of Mimic and Me! I didn’t realise it was Jeff narrating so that’s straight on the tbr

I have a question for you concerning a prelude novella to a trilogy. If I am new to an existing trilogy that has a prelude novella, do I start with the first book of the trilogy or do I read the prelude?
I am looking forward to your Harbinger of Justice books. I do intend to your prelude novella when it comes out.
    Thank you.

It's a case by case basis but most authors write them in a way where you can start with either! In the case of mine, Silence is Silver, it can be read before or after Harbinger of Justice!

I dnfd how you lose the time war more than halfway through. I tried so hard to enjoy it. I really didn’t like either pov, I didn’t like the story, I wasn’t invested in any part of this storyline, I tried so hard to like this book but it felt like trudging through quicksand

Will I be missing out on a lot to just read DCC? I don’t like audio books, I just personally can never take things in through audio and it goes straight out the other ear 😅

    • @the_fools_tale

Not at all! The performance adds a lot but the story and characters are still terrific and well worth a physical read if you don't like audiobooks

13:27 will you wear wigs? ...maybe?! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 #iykyk but I had to pause the video and watch the clip solely bc of one word
Having to do research after every sentence of TIHYLTTW made me stop after the first 50pgs. I definitely was not smart enough to appreciate the cleverness without spending too much time asking Google's help😅

Yay, someone else is finally talking about Furies of Calderon, everyone talks about Dresden and completely ignore his other works. Your issue with the story is understandable, it is kinda sus lol
