Cindy u cook every time you post a video, that's enough for me
Maybe the real cooking was the friends we made along the way
“Is it cake” except make it “is it Reylo” for every romance book
LITERALLY
May I ask what "Reylo" means? I'm not sure I've heard of it before
@@iclynnxit’s the rey x kylo ren ship from Star Wars. Lots of fanfic written about it has been published as contemporary romance novels with the names changed
@@pellaw8011 Ah, alright. Thanks for telling me!
Damn Cindy, the universe does not want us to see you succeed in your cooking adventures. 😭
the universe was like, there will be NO witnesses!!
cindy once her book gets published : i had no idea i was writing a reylo fic until i finished it
HAHAHAH my agent is a reylo fan too
i feel like every time Cindy attempts to make a book-view/cooking video, something goes wrong. prolly because of how hot her book roasts are lmao
and ironically the one time nothing went wrong, i lose the file :|
Honestly, shoutout to the Reylos for being so successful. It's so funny how often you find out that a seemingly normal romance was actually Reylo, they're surprisingly good at hiding it
They've really come a long way! I remember when the Reylo genre first got its start, I was under the impression that it'd be a fad of trashy YA romances that would eventually give way to the next big thing, but...
They're pumping these out long after the Disney trilogy's ended, and it sounds like the quality's gone way up since then.
Honestly I think they're so good at hiding it because Kylo Ren and Rey were such nothingburger characters that you could make a romance about them literally anything as long as the dude is super tall.
@@flippanties Uncool to try to bring people down just cause you don't like the characters, reylo authors have done many interesting works not necessarily romance that are very well written.
@@haly981 when did I bring down the authors. Please point that out. Go on.
Alternate title: Cindy rants about Ice Planet Barbarians with some book reviews in between
So true
Adding on to this: guess what's next, another Reylo fanfic turned book or another installment in Ice Planet Barbarians?
It's very funny to me that another ReyLo book you didn't expect was called "You, Again". I feel like that's what I'd yell to an empty room when I realized why the female lead had such an attachment to wearing her hair in buns.
I enjoy when Cindy reviews books Cari (from caricanread) has already reviewed because they both have similar opinions but VERY different ways of explaining their opinions 😂❤
HAHA ill share this comment with her
I actually liked these shorter reviews! Although I do enjoy the long ones, getting a quick summary of the story and some interesting moments and then moving onto the next one is pretty enjoyable for my stimulated brain lol
Good to know! :)
It also allows us to want to read it before getting spoilers.
$200/ month? Yeah, I would take a vampire roommate.
Same lol
Which is worse, the rat tail hairstyle or an actual rat’s tail 😂
i think an actual rat tail... it would feel gross. at least u can chop off the rat tail hairstyle without any appendage bleeding
a real rat tail cause it can cause a rat king (a bunch of rats tails get tangled together and they cant escape and the rats die) 😭😭
I’m gnawing on the bars of my enclosure waiting for the Haunting Adeline video
LOL i finished the book last week. i have to gather my notes...
@@withcindy read devil's night series by penelope douglas. the women carried this series(and the boys).
Oof just the title alone is breaking my heart for you girl 😭 how'd you not have several breakdowns shsjhfjs
i'm used to BS happening to me soooo
Oh I hope the next Barbarian book has a girl kidnap a big blue beefy boy
As a horror girly, you gotta watch more horror. Arguably the most influential horror directors (James Whale) was openly gay in the 30’s and 40’s, and his imagery can be seen being used by directors like Burton, Hitchcock, etc.. He also fought to make the monsters in his movies sympathetic because as a gay man, he knew what it meant to be hated by the masses just for merely existing. This was kind of the case for a large number of older filmmakers prior to the Haze code. (See the story behind Freaks, and The Wolfman).
Also, as misogynistic as the genre seems, it’s actually arguably the most progressive genre and regularly was used to challenge the societal norms and injustices of the time. In my opinion, it’s the best genre of movies.
For all the horrible shit that happens to women in horror, it's also the one genre that gives voice and legitimacy to those anxieties and real-life horrors that others either shy away from, or make incidental.
I always respected horror for this reason because it is another form of commenting on society and making people feel seen.
I just struggle watching it because I can’t handle gore and excess psychological horror.
Parody horror like happy death day is how far I can go,
But like your points.
i'm def open to checking out more horror! do u have any recommendations for oldies + newer ones?
@@withcindy Hereditary by Ari Aster! It's terrifying and allows for analysis in multiple layers. The acting is just top notch and the more you rewatch it the more you "OH SHIT!"
@@gabrielleduplessis7388 There’s levels of horror for sure and they’re no less valid! Honestly, for you, I’d recommend things like Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Evil Dead movies, and Blackspoitation movies like Blacula.
Horror and comedy go hand in hand. Look at Jordan Peele movies? They’re both horror and satire.
Thank God you uploaded, I was super bored 🥹
hope u enjoy a lil distraction!!
Apparently, every romance book with a cartoonish cover and a dark haired man is a Reylo fanfic😭
I never knew that their community was that big ( and creative) until Ali Hazelwood had her big breakthrough. Now it seems like every shipper is also a writer lol.
i LOVED this is how you lose the time war but i was SO LOST until halfway through because english is not my first language (im self taught). but its GORGEOUS once you get in the zone.
omg its already a lot to get thru as an english speaker so i cant imagine what it would be like for someone whose first language is not english!!
ME TOO OMGGGG
withcindy vs reylo variant books (you could make a video of those type of books at this point 😭)
I could make a tier ranking but Ali is always on top
🤣🤣
You could try bringing the hard drive to a computer repair shop. Data recovery from a hard drive is probably the most common thing they do, and yes, an external hard drive is basically the same thing as a hard disk.
I tried My Roommate is a Vampire audiobook but could not get over that the vampire's name is Fred. Let me know if I should power through, though.
I am continually impressed by your ability to go back to your former readings in such details and precision. I would love a video where you detail your anotation or notes-taking system
Haha there were lots of books here I didn't remember though!
The amount of reylo based books you end up reading 👀 i love this mini review format
haha i really read so many in 2023!!
As soon as i click play, i hear "A rat tail"? Is Cindy back to her Furry Era? We love to see it!
i draw the line at rat tail
Victoria annotating your favorite book 🥹 I annotated my crush’s favorite book (Pride and Prejudice), that kind of gift always hits
aww what did ur crush think??
The universe just could not accept your cooking going well, it had to take action.
God always has a plan
I actually tried reading "This is how you lose the time war" because of your review of it, and I found it so confusing and mixed up and all over the place that it would put me to sleep in mere minutes 💀
I ended up reading the book everytime I wanted to fall asleep really fast, since two pages of it was enough to knock me out COLD!
Lmao, at least it had some kind of use for you I guess. I personally really enjoyed, but only after I gave up trying to understand what was happening and just focused on the characters relationship and their prose instead
I couldn't even do that! Since it just put me to sleep 😭😭
Reylo’s contribution to literature is incalculable 😂… I do hope the universe will collaborate next time & allow us to see you cooking and not setting the kitchen on fire for once 🙏
every reylo book cover has a girl with brown hair pulled in a bun and now that i noticed it, i'll be on the lookout
And don't forget a much taller guy with black hair
24:23 I loved the plot. The plot being Tom Blyth in his Paneminem Red Uniform Era
That "plot" is what I came here for 😏
By the end I was expecting the final barbarian book to be another surprise Reylo
15:46 Cindy it IS already a movie. The original fanfic was like Reylo mixed with When Harry Met Sally but the leads' personalities were swapped. You are right tho this version would eat too.
I didn't care for WHMS so I think I'd like this modern version way better!
This Is How You Lose The Time War was completely lost on me. Anything with time travel, man, idk wtf is going on.
i could not explain how the time travel works in that book but the writing is still a banger
@@withcindy oh for sure, I still go back and reread the love letters for a good swoon
girl i’ve been waiting for your uploads 😭
I feel like we think he’s more sympathetic in the movie because we’re big in his head and that’s what he was portraying to the world, cause he barely said anything crazy out loud until the end of the book fr
Yeah but the movie also did external changes that put him in a better light, like feeding the tributes when it was sejanus idea etc
I recently read This Is How You Lose the Time War and i absolutely loved it! This was def one of my favorite reads of the year, and im glad to have found it first through your channel.
i kinda stopped reading for fun because of the school system just draining all of the life out of me (slay, we love being so burnt out you can't even have fun), but recently I've really wanted to get back into it. Thanks for being such a great book centered channel
I totally get that! I didn't become a reader until after I was done with school forever lol
I re-read Time War for a book club recently (first read in 2021) and one person there is bilingual, grew up speaking English and Arabic (I think, it was a bit too long ago to be sure). She gave us so much insight into how the language reflected Arabic - time being talked about in the reverse of what a Western/English reader would know (similar to reading in reverse R>L instead of L>R); how poetic and flowery Arabic is. I need her to annotate a copy! It's so deep and gets better with every re-read.
Also, the Reylos rejected and shunned "Lana" from the fandom ages ago for some shitty ass behavior (yes it's racism, surprise). So, no one claims that book as a reylo book 🙊
These videos are so fun, I love these short form reviews packed into longer videos:) very fun to listen to!!
Yay, thank you!
so sorry about your hard drive cindy :( thanks for still posting this great video!
Definitely added a lot of these to my TBR list! Thanks for the heads up about the boycott and that book in particular. I hadn’t paid enough attention to affiliate labels and wish I had. I shared the link and info on my own platform to spread more awareness (as was only right).
New year, new This is How You Lose the Time War shoutout!! That book continues to bamboozle me and it's so good
Thank you so much for the upload! I needed an excuse to procrastinate 😭
You're so welcome!
so many books just got throw onto my "to read" pile. thank youuu!!!
love ur videos cindy! they help me throughout the day, especially the airport storytime lol
That airport story will never be forgotten
@@withcindy watched it too many times and i crack up everytime. my favorite video on the internet
Cindy suffering for our entertainment, is the most iconic thing ever. Only she can make a half an hour video, have it vanish from the world, and be strong and redo the entire thing again.
Queen behaviour.
Cindys hard drive really sai "Cindy cooking something decent?? Not on my watch"
SERIOUSLY
Aww love the shout-out to Hannah bc I was literally thinking of her video when you mentioned you didn't like the book much!
Hannah is definitely a more thoughtful reader than I am! Haha I was just like OOO SNOW 😜
Always nice to see your vids, Cindy! I'm sorry you lost access to your files though, bricked hard drives suck.
My roomate is a vampire is also a Reylo in disguise, I've read myself like half a dozen Reylo remakes this last year and sure, the quality may be a bit all over the place, but points for the effort. You, again was actually very decent. I didn't know the dead romantics was also Reylo though, thanks for expanding my awareness! 🤣
Me: oh a new video of Cindy, thats nice i was looking for good book recomenda....
The First thing that shows up when i open the vídeo: "He had a literal rat tail"
Recommendation for rat lovers 😜
I’ve had to keep delivering later on my Libby app for the measure because I had a bunch of books become available at the same time and borrowed all of them then put my kindle on airplane mode. I still have 2 books to read before I can take it off airplane mode and borrow the measure but I’m excited for it!
3:19 I do have these moments too. Once, I would just not sleep and only watch this Bengali serial from late at night to sunrise. It wasn’t even a show I had nostalgia about. I just knew the actors.
A school like that (where you are isolated to learn a language) really does exist, except instead of 10 days its three months.
The language school in the book promises complete fluency where u will walk out speaking like a native! I think that's impossible to do IRL even with 3 months
@@withcindy ruclips.net/video/jV40IEk02o4/видео.html&ab_channel=OllyRichards
i love your cooking videos they make me feel better about how bad i am at cooking

To put things into perspective, when univers is ploting against you - I broke of part of my tooth on a ravioli once. ON A RAVIOLI! So I belive that you cooked a flawless dish and we'll never fet to see it.😢
wtf kind of HARD RAVIOLI was it for u to break ur tooth!!!

Just a correction! Julie Sotto’s Forget Me Not is not a reylo 😅 The author is a Dramione writer but it’s not based on any of the Dramione fanfiction she’s made. Never read the book myself but she’s an amazing dramione writer!
Oops thx for letting me know!
@@withcindy no problem! I just checked her profile and she actually does have a couple of reylo fics!
Honestly, this is kind of a smart video format, loved it
Glad you liked it!!

I LIVE FOR THESE VIDEOS THANKS CINDY
yay hope u enjoy!!
Idk why but found adorable that Victoria did that for you when gifting you that book ❤
I am so sad about the lost media. 😭 Hugs, huntie! ❤️❤️❤️
I read Big Swiss right after meeting Jodie Comer (whos gonna be playing Big Swiss in the show adaptation) last april. Truly a cultural experience, id love to see your reaction to the show when it eventually comes out too 😂
oooh i will def watch, i think jodie comer is a great actress!
5:28 the concept about knowing how much time you have left reminded me of They Both Die at the End. Very good book- the main characters find out they're going to die sometime in the next 24 hours - meet each other and spend the last day of their lives together. I was so invested I finished it in like 1 night.
in the clip at the beginning when you were talking about the rat tail an the faerie i was so sure you were talking about the cruel prince... i was pleasantly surprised
I love these because I’m down for some book recommendations 😊
>wow 30 books! Way to go Cindy!
>*reads the rest of the title* Oh Cindy...
I also absolutely love you mentioning the SMP boycott. Thanks so much for that. ❤❤
each new cindy's video is like another chapter of the bible, to follow 🙏🏻
amen
perfect vid to watch on this rainy minnesota day :') was feeling a lil anxious after watching anatomy of a fall and this was just what the doctor ordered!! one cindy vid a day keeps the doctor away? something like that
I'm so glad! was the movie good? i havent seen it yet
@@withcindy i loved it!! i loved this being a "courtroom drama" that doesn't give you the decisive answers you want, it's all about the ambiguity and uncertainty of life, death, legal guilt... the jurors are subjective, the "facts" are subjective, memory is subjective. highly recommend!! as someone who loves wordy movies with smart dialogue this was excellent
If you are interested in more of the twisted tale books: go the distance, megara’s story is my favorite so far. As tale as old as time: beast’s story and my second favorite and has an interesting premise.
Want to read Tianna’s and Mulan’s so bad.
As a translation student, I'm incredibly intrigued by 'The Center.' The premise sounds like a dream come true for every translator, so it's understandable that the main character would overlook the red flags lol. French has been kickingmy ass and I'd risk it all to become fluent in ten days😩! Cindy, thank you so much for this delightful video (as always). One of the most remarkable aspects of your content is your willingness to explore beyond the trendy and popular, giving new authors and lesser-known books a chance. More often than not, these hidden gems turn out to be fantastic, just lacking the attention they deserve. So, thank you for providing such an entertaining video and expanding my TBR list. 💕
Thank u for such nice words!!
Now I’m convinced that I need to read the ice planet barbarians 😅
I literally just finished “A Study in Drowning” right when this video was uploaded I couldn’t believe it when you started talking about it. holy shit. Logged it and then saw the notification lmao
such cold hard facts about president Snow. And the hotness of movie Snow- it was almost distracting lol
Would love multiple volumes of Wash Day Diaries
so sorry about your hard drive!
Even the ice planet barbarians author is a reylo! Cindy how did you get this far down the rabbit hole I never thought I’d see my favorite ship x my favorite booktuber
This video took me so long to get through because I had to stop and read so many of what you talked about 😅 just finished What Moves the Dead, Promising Young Women, One’s Company and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I’m not a romance girlie and thank god because otherwise I’d still be reading before I could finish this!
Oh no I'm so sorry about lost files,,,,that really socks 😢
And you're so inspiring: library books, no expensive lighting equipment. You do booktube impressively and save money ❤❤
love the witchwood knot ❤❤❤ Olivia Atwaters other books are great too just soooo fun and cute and low stakes and all the characters are so lovable
Every time a Reylo Fanfic is traditionally published i lose hope a little more
If I remember correctly, You Again is sort of based on the movie When Harry met Sally also
Yup but with the reverse dynamic
@@withcindy omg really? Now I want to read it more. I recently read a YA romance book also based on When Harry Met Sally and the guy gave me the ick so many times😭 Like I could understand Harry’s behavior because the movie was made in the 80s, but the book kept most of it and it irritated the shit out of me. Oh noooo I hope u can get ur phone fixed!
Your decent cooking is too powerful to witness. The hard drive is actually protecting us from it.
The world isn't ready for that yet
31:30 OMMMG I thought you were talking about Cardan from The Cruel Prince at first when I saw the intro 🤣
I pre-ordered "Dragonfruit!" I'm getting it in a few days. Yay! 😄
Hope you enjoy it!
im on year 6 of finishing my 4 yr degree (rip) and i always watch your videos when im procrastinating, this format made me feel way less guilty
Good luck!!
The measure sounds so interesting 👀 I see it everywhere but I never knew what it was about 😂
The school I work at actually read A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes for summer school last year. I watched the movie because of that and some students who were like really into it.
Also: someone else was talking about horror movies and I just want to mention tooo - if you like video essays, ‘Renegade Cut’ did a good shortish one on Nightmare on Elm Street 2, and how the gay subtext was mostly that because of the time the movie was released. Although it’s not really hidden either.
Laaaastly, I just used Libby for some of the books you reviewed. You are always top notch for rec’s
If you haven't read it maybe you can add Ava Reid's adult book Juniper and Throne. It touches on a lot of the same themes as a study in drowning
I have that on my TBR!
love the range
thank u cindy. another vid despite the setback imma watch this while i draw
Have fun! Whatcha gonna draw?
Your take on the TBOSAS is EXACTLY what i felt!!! he was sooooo flat throughout the entire story but I was absolutely wowed by the movie!
Cindy, will you make a movie review/analysis for the Hunger Games prequel since you liked it so much?
tbh i dont think i would do a good enough of an analysis for that!
Thinking about it maybe you and Victoria should reread Girl, Serpent Thorn
although I can't remember what you thought of it
i was kinda meh about it
