There's never enough people to talk with about these books! I'm so friggin excited for the 9th floor!!!

Have u read webnovels- Lotm and Shadow slave, those for me are one of the most interesting magic systems. both are so good now I am trying to search something similar in normal literature.

Shadowmancer was interesting as not the usual Tolkien\Conan/King Arthur mish mash.

My favorite will probably always be Tolkien, but I want to mention Ursula K.LeGuin’s A Wizard of Earthsea series and Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Riders of Pern series.

I've read the whole series. They are great but I can't reread them. It's too painful. Having that much pain inflicted over so much time with so little respite is a form of masochism I won't repeat. Reading them is like a test of courage, a trial of character. I won't willingly undergo it twice.

I do not recommend the First Law series for reading. I HIGHLY recommend the audiobooks. The narrator voices every character differently and does a masterful job of reading this amazing series. Not mentioned, there are also three standalone books that chronologically come between the original series and the sequel series. Amazing books.

Don't forget Stephen R Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant series.

I would love to add The Witcher books to this list! The original stories that inspired the excellent video games. (The Netflix series went in its own directions despite saying they would adhere to the books… too bad.)

Jennifer Roberson's "Cheysuli Chronicles", David (and Leigh) Eddings "Elenium" and "Tamuli" series, (or their "Belgariad" and "Mallorean"), "Thieves's World) anthology series, Stephen Donaldson's "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant") (all three sets).

This is what happens when a young person getting recommendations from young people who know nothing about the golden age of fantasy. The Blade Itself was fantastic, but the next two books were a huge dropoff in quality so much that I wondered if it was the same author. Song of Ice and Fire is a respectable entry. LOTR was a guarantee. But where are the other great classic golden age fantasy series? Elric of Melnibone (Michael Moorcock), Fafhrd and Grey Mouser series (Fritz Leiber), Dragonriders of Pern (Anne McCaffrey), D’rizzt series by R.A. Salvatore, Xanth series (Piers Anthony), Narnia series (C.S. Lewis), Conan series (Robert E. Howard), Earthsea series (Ursula LeGuin), I mean I could go on and on. But if you don’t read some of the award-winning golden age fantasy stuff, you are missing out. All modern fantasy is built on the shoulders of these greats.

How is Terry Brooks’ Shannara series not on this list? It goes from classic fantasy to urban fantasy to post-apocalyptic fantasy and then back to classic fantasy over the course of a few dozen books. Also, David Eddings Belgariad and Malloreon series are must-reads. Great characters. Also, Narnia?

I have just started the series for the Forth time. So many things come to light with repeated readings.

We are being spoiledddd with all the beautiful and exciting books!! I am so curious about Foul Days and The God and the Gumiho. And can confirm Hell for Hire is a BLAST! It was my favourite book of May and will 100% end up on my faves of the year! Also, congrats on the release of the novella, you knocked it out of the park friend 🔥

Foul Days caught my attention. I have to do some research on it, the premise and the world sound very interesting. It's always a challlenge for western authors to work with Slavic elements in their stories, being slavic myself I'm very curious to see how the author is capable of delivering genuine mystic slavic vibes. Edit: Just found out the author is a Bulgarian archaeologist based in Scotland, that gives me some hopes! 😉

I commented on your previous video but YT didn't like it. So here I try again as I think you might find it useful - Schismatrix Plus by Bruce Sterling is a very often overlooked classic work in the scifi/cyberpunk genre . It's not pure cyberpunk because of its vast world and complexity compared to Neuromancer. This work predates Gibson's book and was infuential for younger authors like Alastair Reynolds. I think you might love it. Keep up!

I read the kickstarter digital version of all of the Godeater books. I’d say definitely read the main book first, cause I didn’t and i just feel like I’d have appreciated the prequels more. They were all good, but Herald was amazing!

I can't find anything on when the Godeater Saga would be available in print. Looks like just Kindle currently?

Battle farmer mage series, nova terra series, forge master series, inheritance series, redwall series, lost city of the amulet series, death gate cycle series, James e wisher has written numerous series’ - pick one. The only series you mentioned that I’m familiar with was the lord of the rings. I didn’t like game of thrones, or wheel of time.

The original 6-7 Sword of Truth books by Terry Goodkind were great. Later ones… meh, Memory, Sorrow & Thorn by Tad Williams are awesome as well. And for the kiddies…The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander..that’s where the old movie “The Black Couldron” came from, and Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising series

Stormlight: First two books, excellent. After that, the characters become OP and less interesting. Hobb: The Madships Trilogy is excellent. Very creative. Kingkiller: Book 1 is a very favorite of mine, the second book is a huge step down. The First Law: Top notch in every way. Loved The Heroes as well. GRRM: First three books are incredible - Storm of Swords is one of the best written books I've ever read. After that, the slide in quality begins... The rest I haven't read.

Alan Dean Foster's Spellsinger series. His Sci-Fi is excellent too.

I think this list is crap...grrm and Tolkien of course. Where the hell did you get these as references to read? Where's War of the Spider Queen series, Prince of Lies series, Drizzt series, Wizards rule...I think your list needs a lot of work!

I'm in the middle of Mushroom Blues right now. I'm loving it. The world-building is incredible and the prose leaves me on the edge of my seat. Another solid sci-fi book I picked up was Mickey 7. I adored that book and look forward to the upcoming film.

Project Hail Mary is great. Try not to read anything on the book. Much better that way. Artemis is definitely a much weaker book. Worth a read but not a classic.

Old school honorable mention, The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. Stephan R Donaldson. First trilogy. The second is bit “lesser” but I need to revisit it. It’s been a long time
