I have to say that your voice is so calming that every time an add starts I jump three feet in the air 😂 BESIDES THAT I’m so happy you read a few new faves so far this year 💗
omg I'm sorry but that's so funny 😂 and thank youuu 💜
Yay for your favourite book of the year so far, I loved that one too! 💛
ahh yes I remember your review! 🥰
Loved how you tried not to rant too hard, haha. I definitely want to read Chocolate now, the film is so beautiful! 💚
I feel so bad 🙈 ahh yes, I think you'd really enjoy it! 💕
Mary giving a book 1 star. 😳 I didn't think it would be possible. :D
hahah never seen before 😝
Your enthusiasm always makes me so happy! The Lies of Locke Lamora and Chocolat sound especially great. I loved hearing your thoughts and seeing you gush about your new favorites!❤️
aww thank you Hilary, that's so sweet of you 💛 I think you'd love Chocolat!
Fave book: tenant of Wildfell halls. (Thanks, Brontë long!)
Most beautiful: Waves: a graphic novel about love, loss, and the Hx of surfing
Still to read/finish: Monte Christo; Les Mis; Pachinko; Kindred; Anne of Green Gables series re-read
Great video, Mary!
aw I'm so glad you loved The Tenant! looks like you've got some great books ahead 🥰
thank you so much x
when you said "the title is fitting" for the hating game LOL
it's the truth 🙈
I loved hearing your thoughts on all these books! 🧡😊
thank you 🥰
Chocolat sounds like the perfect vibe ✨ didn’t get a chance to read it when it was the Patreon book club pick but might read it before the year is over! Hope you find more favorite books!
I would love to hear your thoughts about it ❤️
I do want to try the lies of locke lamora at some point. Found family is my favourite trope too. I am going to try Murata at some point but I am going to start with the book Earthlings which I think I would like more. I am looking forward to agnes grey and we are not free sometime. I did not like wuthering heights at all when I read it, I must admit ;.; And as you know, I absolutely hated the hating game so so much. I do not understand why it is so loved.
ohh Earthlings is on my tbr as well, I'm excited to hear your thoughts! haha I completely understand why you wouldn't like Wuthering Heights 😝
same here, I truly don't understand the hype!
YES I loved Poems from the Book of Hours!
YAY Agnes Grey!!! obviously I'm with you, I really enjoyed it! and yes we need to start some kind of support group for people who prefer Wuthering Heights to Jane Eyre 😂
omg YES we need that group 😂
Keiko is not autistic but as someone who is on the ASD spectrum, it is so awesome to see some representation that isn't steeped into stereotypes and is just relatable! Also, it's so cool you mention Middlemarch because I am currently reading it!
As for the questions for the tag, one of the biggest surprises this year was The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt! After hearing Emma's thoughts I thought I was going to DESPISE it but yet I gave it four stars! My favorite book of the year was "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrick Backman because it really does provide insight into the elderly and what thoughts they may be going through. The book I want to read by the end of the year would have to be either The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo (Disney MAY have had a hand in that pick) or 11/22/63 by Stephen King! Much love!
I'm glad you ended up enjoying Middlemarch, and that The Goldfinch was a good surprise as well! aww Ove, I'd like to reread it at some point.
good luck reading either of those massive books haha
Chocolat interests me very much. Thank you for the recommendation, Mary.
hope you enjoy it! 🤗
I do think Convenience Store Woman is coded for autism. I think that Murata is on the spectrum herself (if I'm recalling correctly). I loved the movie Chocolat. xoxo
thank you for letting me know! :) 🌻
It's always nice to be surprised by a book you are going into blind as it were.In that sense the wonderful Taduno's Song by Odafe Atogun is this year's book,so far, for me.Also Henry Marsh's book Admissions,A Life In Brain Surgery,is a beautiful autobiographical account told with such humanity that leaves you thankful there are such good people in the world.✨
always wonderful to read about the good in humanity :) 🌸
Gosh, The hating game was the worst book i read in 2021, glad to see I am not alone. I found the characters to be really juvenile and I didn't even care for the romance in it tbh... The Tolkien biography sounds amazing, I can't wait for your opinion 😀
yes, I completely agree!
ahhh I know, I cannot wait to read it 🥰
Well, now I want to read Chocolat!
yayy I hope you enjoy it ^^
😊❤️
💛🌻
This was lovely (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ I loved to hear your thoughts even more in depth. Chocolat seems so so interesting and I can't wait to read Agnes Grey thanks to you 💜 I'm almost done with North and South and it's awesome, so well written, so powerful.. I think you would like it ♡(ӦvӦ。) have a wonderful day Mary ✨ tons of hugs
ahh hope you enjoy both of them ^^ completely agree about North and South! sending lots of love 💚
