  • Hello everyone, Welcome back to the channel, where we bring you the best recipes from my 88-year-old Konkani grandmother's kitchen
This dish is dedicated to my wonderful aunt, who always had a special place in our heart - and my stomach - for always showering us with tasty treats and goodies from the US of A. I hope we can impress her with this channel as much as her care packages impressed us!
In this video, we'll show you how to make her favorite dish, the mouth-watering Batate Taal, which is an authentic GSB Konkani recipe that's sure to 'drop the bass' on your taste buds. :p
The recipe is made using boiled & aged potatoes and onions, cooked in a special masala made of grated coconut, dried red chilies, tamarind, coriander seeds, and fenugreek seeds. The curry is then tempered using mustard seeds and curry leaves to create a perfect blend of flavors.
This dish is a great accompaniment to rice, dalitoy, pappad, and curds, It is a must-try for anyone who loves Indian cuisine.
Whether you're an experienced cook or just starting out, our step-by-step guide will help you create the perfect batate taal that will surely have everyone coming back for seconds.
    INGREDIENTS:
2 Boiled potatos (Aged in fridge for 7 days and Cubed)
2 Medium Sized onions ( 1 Cubed, 1 Finely chopped)
    FOR MASALA:
    1/2 Coconut Grated
    7 Dried Red Chillies (Ramnad)
1 Big Marble Sized ball of tamarind
    3 Teaspoons Coriander Seeds
    1 Teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
    FOR TEMPERING:

Ashwin, what a wonderful team both of you make, complementing each other very well. I have been watching all your videos though I know all the amchigele cooking. Bhari layak korno explain kartachi, both of you. Tuggel bappamaka mastu oomedi assa. Your command over english is fabulous, as also bappama's , with her inputs in between. Tumgel traditional GSB utensils, like lokhanda phanna davlo, rukka colmbul etc., reminds me of my mammoma's cooking.
Ashwin, at the end of the video, sakkadankai video subscribe/share korchaka saanga(if you please) lest people watch the video and forget it.
Lastly, keep the excellent work going, both of you.👌👌👌👍👍👍

Thank you very much, Vidya! We're both glad to know that you enjoy watching our videos! I'm creating these videos as a tribute to my bapama's delicious recipes. I just feel that people will like and subscribe if they enjoy the videos, I don't feel like pushing people to do it, like the other youtubers. But I will keep your suggestion in mind and gently ask people to like & sub, thanks! 😊

Mother is going on pouring water every now and then in the hot gravy ...🙄.....when the gravy is hot on boiling temperature its always good to put hot water to add on the gravy not cold water ...

    • @gsbrecipes
      @gsbrecipes  Год назад

When cooking in small quantities, the drop in temperature due to adding 100ml room temperature water does not affect the end product as much as adding 20 liters during bulk preparation. But yes, what you said is the correct way to do it. Professional chefs always keep a cauldron of boiling water to hydrate their dishes when cooking.

Hot water is needed only for rice items...otherwise we use normal water like this.
